Creating a blog on your site isn't as daunting as it may initially sound.

There are several different ways that you can go about the process. All of them assume that you have some kind of web space hosting of your own - this is readily available nowadays for very little money, so don't panic.

The very cheapest web hosting is free but this often comes with adverts that pay the service hosting your site enough money for them to offer you the space for free.

If you expect your site to generate a reasonable amount of traffic then it's better to spend a few dollars a month on reliable web hosting.

Next up is to decide on your blog platform.

1. Use Blogger on your own site

Google's Blogger service gives you the option of using Blogger and its accompanying site or simply using Blogger to write your posts, which then get published on your own site.

It's easy to do this. Just go into your Blogger control panel, click the Settings tab and then select the Publishing tab. You'll see a link that says "Switch to custom domain". You'll then be given the option of buying a brand new domain for your blog or pointing it to a domain you already use. It's a simple matter of following the instructions on screen. Once you've done that, your Blogger blog will be posted to your own website instead of on Blogger.

2. Use Wordpress on your own site

This isn't quite as easy as Blogger, but it's pretty close. Most hosts offer a one click install of Wordpress. This installs the basic software on your web hosting space and then allows you to do whatever tweaks you need to make the blog your own rather than the "out of the box" settings. At the very least, you should turn on Akismet anti spam in your plug-ins. This involves getting an API key from Wordpress but that's a simple matter of clicking a few links and following the instructions that appear.

Once you've got Wordpress installed, check out a few tutorial sites to make sure that you've got your brand new blog set up as efficiently as possible so that the search engines can give it the publicity it deserves.

3. Choose a different blogging platform

Blogger and Wordpress are just two of the blog platforms available. There are lots more including systems such as Moveable Type amongst others.

That said, most people find that either the simplicity of Blogger or the customizable nature of Wordpress are more than adequate for their needs. Both platforms are very well supported and you're almost certain to be able to do exactly what you want to do with them.

Whichever you choose, you should make sure that you perform regular backups of your posts.

Apart from your writing, the template you choose for your new blog is the biggest statement you can make to the outside world. Both Blogger and Wordpress come with lots of templates or you can have your own template custom designed if you want to really stand out from the crowd. <bio>Find out more about creating a blog and start your new web publishing career by visiting http://www.squidoo.com/howtocreateablog </bio>

If you would like to set up your own blog, just follow these quick and easy steps to get started. You'll be blogging in a matter of minutes!

There are a variety of options for setting up your first blog, but I am only going to mention two of them here. These are the two fastest and easiest ways to get started blogging, and they are also the two best ways. One of them is even better than the other=85

The first option is <a href="http://Blogger.com" >http://Blogger.com. I consider it second best. It is free to set up a blog there, and fairly easy to use. You can set up an account, choose a template, and begin blogging.

The second option, and the one I use myself and recommend to others, is WordPress. There are other options out there, but WordPress is free and widely supported.

If you already have a web hosting account, check with them first. Most of them offer WordPress as a free add-on within their hosting accounts, and it is a simple one-click install.

If you don't have a hosting account, or if you wont be using the same hosting account for your new blog, I would recommend that you open an account with HostGator. For only $9.95 you can get an account that lets you set up an unlimited number of sites, blogs or domain names. So if you choose to set up additional blogs or websites in the future, it wont cost you any extra.

Most people who start out on http://Blogger.com, and decide that they want to move up in the blogging world, end up switching over to WordPress. This is the reason that I recommend you just go ahead and start out on WordPress. That way you won't have to worry about starting over, or convincing readers to subscribe to your new blog when you make the switch.

But if you do start out on http://Blogger.com, I would recommend that you get your own domain name. Your domain name will be the http://www.myblogname.com. If you don't register a domain name, your address will be http://myblogname.blogspot.com. If you choose to make changes later, you will lose any PageRank and incoming links that you have worked hard to build. So it makes sense to start out with your own domain name.

You can register a domain name for only $8.95 at http://Godaddy.com.

Here is your quick checklist for starting a blog:

- Pick a topic for your blog - Register a domain name for your blog - Check with your current host, or set up a hosting account - Use the one-click install within your control panel - Start blogging!

Once you set up your blog and begin blogging, you will want to explore all of the options that are available. There are many themes or templates that you can use for free, customizations that you may want to do, and of course techniques to promote your blog.

But first you have to get started... so go ahead and follow these easy steps and set up your new blog today!

Best, Lynn Terry <bio>Lynn Terry blogs daily at http://www.ClickNewz.com where she shares Online Business and Marketing tips.
This article is about blogging and why you should never blog on a free host like blogger.com or wordpress.com I am writing this to alert people out there who are building blogs on free blog hosts like blogger.com and wordpress.com

Installing wordpress is free and gives you full control over your blog. There are other platforms like moveable type to choose from as well. Take a look around and find the platform you like or that best fits your blogging style. I've learned an expensive lesson and now will only build blogs on my own domain names.

The reason?

Lets start with blogger.com

They have a new out of control spam bot. Search the blogger help forums and you will find the horror stories. Legitimate blogs are being deleted, people are getting locked out of their blog until reviewed, and assumed to be a spammer because either the bot flagged the blog or someone clicked the little flag button at the top of all blogger blogs.

That and the fact that they have constant problems with the publishing getting stuck at 0%, slow load times, etc. it makes blogging through blogger.com a buggy experience at best and your content or reason for blogging is up to someone else's interpretation of what is or is not legitimate.

I understand getting rid of splogs and spammers, but in blogger.com's case the cure is worse than the disease. They were not always that way. I've been on blogger a long time and the service used to be good.

As far as wordpress.com, they are just as bad. If the blog links to a website and looks as if it might be promoting people to go to that website they will suspend your account without warning and lock you out of all the content.

I'm not sure what they think blogs are for, but they seem to think they have a noble purpose in life and that they alone decide what is a "genuine blog" or not.

A "genuine blog" is one that is controlled by the individual who writes to it, not one that must adhere to someone else's idea of what their blog should look like and what it should say.

If you blog on freehosts just be aware your content and your blog is in the hands of others who will decide for the world whether or not your blog should be seen by others.

I recommend all bloggers get their own domain names and install their own blogs. You probably have learned that using a freehost for your company's website is bad for business so why put your company's blog on a freehost?

The same goes for individuals. Blogs allow you to express yourself the way you want to express yourself. That is the beauty of blogging. Are you willing to sacrifice your individuality to conform to what blogger.com or wordpress.com thinks is a "genuine" way to express yourself?

Many times the person deciding your fate is someone who has never had any authority over other people and who think that now they have Godlike powers to decide the fate of content written by others. These are people who likely produce no content of value themselves and think they know what is best for the rest of the world.

Get your own domain name and install a blogging platform that fits your needs. It's the best advice you will ever get about blogging. You only own the blog if it is on your own domain name. Everything else is just providing content for someone else. <bio>Chris McElroy aka NameCritic owns several blogs he posts to daily like http://www.blogs.pn and http://www.WhoLetTheBlogOut.com He also manages several blogs for clients.
The biggest challenge the newbie blogger faces when deciding to start a blog is which blogging service to start with.

I know this for a fact when I first started out with blogging. It seemed new blogging services were popping out of everywhere leaving me very fustrated as to which one I should use.

I did my research as to which ones were the most popular among the online communities on the internet and came up with this list.

This will save you the fustration I went through when deciding which blogging service to go with and don't worry the list isn't HUGE!

These are the most popular blogging services used by hobbie bloggers and business professionals.

So with that said, here's the list of the BEST blogging services newbie bloggers should get started with:

1) Blogger - http://www.blogger.com

2) Type Pad - http://www.typepad.com

3) Word Press - http://www.wordpress.com

4) Moveable Type - http://www.moveabletype.org

5) Live Journal - http://www.livejournal.com

6) MSN Spaces - http://spaces.live.com

See I told you the list wasn't going to be HUGE.

You will find if you decide to do your own research on blogging services that these are the most recommended and used by bloggers world wide.

Now, my recommendation to you for a blogging service to get started with are either Blogger.com and Wordpress.com.

These two blogging services are the most used blogging services on the web today by hobbiests and business professionals.

The difference between the two is Blogger.com is a web based blogging service and requires no domain name or hosting service where as Wordpress though it offers a web based service like Blogger.com it's stand alone content management system software gives you full control at all times. Choosing this route means you'll need to purchase a domain name and hosting service.

I personally use Wordpresses stand alone CMS because of it's many capabilities and multi-uses. I won't get into Wordpress here because that's a book within itself.

The question you need to ask yourself before choosing which blogging service to go with is... "which is going to offer me the most for the purposes of my blog?".

All these services above have there own unique CMS systems, Themes and Plugins to make your blogging experience as easy as possible.

My suggestion is for you to visit each of the listed blogging services above, read what they have to offer and then choose the most qualified blogging service.

The list is small so put some time aside and really go through them throughly because you don't want to go through all the trouble of setting your blog up and then decide that the blogging service you chose was the wrong one.

I've been there and it's a pain in the butt to have to start all over again with a different blogging service.

After that it's up to you on what you wish to publish on it and how you choose to monetize your blog.

I hope this article helped and the best of luck with your blog.<bio>Subscribe to The Web Development Central Blog and receive MORE expert articles and tips on How-To build and drive Traffic to your website or blog for FREE.
If you are one of the people out there that does not know what a blog is... it is time you got involved in your own blogging adventure. Blogging can be fun. You can set up your own personal blog, there are many places that can be done for free. Use your favorite search engine, and do a search for andquot;free blogandquot;, you will find several resources. Look at the different options and see which one most appeals to you. <a href="http://blogger.com" >http://blogger.com is one of the more popular ones, but you may find others that you like better.

A blog is a web log. I like to describe it as an online diary or journal. Blogs are used for different purposes, either business or personal. Personal blogs are very popular, often used to share events going on in your life such as your recent vacation, family birthdays, reunions, or just to share your personal thoughts and ideas. Businesses use blogs to share new products or services they offer to their customers. There is no limit to what you can put on your blog. Blogging is an opportunity to voice your opinion. Use caution that you are not slandering a person, product or business. If you make a statement like andquot;xjrkmproduct is poisonousandquot; you might be opening yourself to possible legal repercussions... however if you say andquot;xjrkmproduct tastes like poison to meandquot; then that is your opinion.

You can set you blog up to follow a particular theme, you will want to do some planning before you start your blog. Perhaps you want to share information about your favorite hobby. Start a list of things you want to cover on your blog. Do you want to add photos? Do you want to provide a list of recommended resources? You might want to do a search to see other blogs available on the topic you want to cover... see what you like or don't like about those blogs and make yours better!

You don't have to have a particular theme on your blog, it is perfectly ok to set up a blog and write whatever comes to mind. Hopefully you have thoughts going on in your head that others will enjoy reading about, but even that is not a requirement. If you enjoy blogging that is all that is important.

When you are starting out, it is not necessary to have your own domain name registered, but if you ever decide you want to take your blog to the next level, it is quite easy to add a blog to your own domain name. This will involve purchasing a domain name, and finding hosting for your domain name. <bio>Check out http://www.blogger-blues.com http://www.bloggers-tell.com or http://www.a1-directory.com </bio>

What's the perfect job? How about a job where you are your own boss, you set your own hours, work right from home, never have to deal with unreasonable deadlines and get to do something you love doing? Sound good? Well that's the job description of a <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/blogger" rel="tag">blogger. That, however, is the not the whole story! There are very, very few bloggers who have nothing else to do but work on their blog and even fewer who have a blog that provides a decent source of income so blogging is, for most, a second or even a third "job."

There are two basic types of bloggers, the casual blogger and the serious blogger.

The casual blogger may have a basically well balanced life and a blog that is primarily a hobby. The casual blogger will start writing a post, work at it for awhile and then stop to get some other things done until he or she feels like writing again. If a finished post doesn't get many comments, that's OK; the post expressed just what the casual blogger wanted to say and its out there if anyone is interested.

The serious blogger's situation is quite different from the casual blogger's. The serious blogger has a blog that he or she considers to be a job -- a job that may be competing with other important elements of life such as a primary job, a family, a social life and adequate rest. The serious blogger is committed (almost to the point of an obsession) to maintaining his or her blog and feels it is an essential element of daily life. The serious blogger feels dejected if any post sits on the blog for twenty-four hours or so without generating a comment or if the blog's "hit counter" does not register a certain number of visitors every day. That kind of commitment to blogging may take a big hunk of time out of the day and can easily create some serious conflicts between blogging and the rest of life -- to avoid this, the serious blogger needs to be organized and efficient.

Time management for the serious blogger! Anyone who feels that the day is too short needs to understand and implement the basic principle of time management: setting priorities. Some things are obviously more important than other things but some important things may be left undone unless you are controlling your schedule and not having random events control you. You need to set priorities and live by them.

Make a priority list! To begin setting priorities, make a list of everything you need to get done -- everything including things you've committed to doing, things you want to do, things you know you should do and things that you really don't want to do but are on your mind. Be honest and put everything on the list -- take a couple hours or more to put it together if you need that much time, it will be time well spent because you are about to get organized.

Important: You will be using and modifying this list every day so create the list using some program that will allow you to move list items around, add items, remove items and save the list. Just notepad or your word processing program will do nicely but there are other more specialized programs available -- they may even be free, check out: Tucows at tucows. com.

Categorize! Now carefully consider each item on the list and put each one into one of the following five categories.

Must get it done today Must get it done this week Nice to do and might be beneficial Nice to do but not really necessary Unnecessary

Now you have a decent priority list. Start every day with this list and every time you become aware of a new task add it in a proper place to the proper category. As the "must do" items are accomplished and moved off the list, some of the nice-to-do items may be moved up, but only if their priorities can honestly be changed.

Too many must-do things! If the list of items in the two "Must get it done . . . " categories is overwhelming, reconsider each item's importance and re-prioritize if you can, if not select the items that you really don't have to do yourself, things like fix-it projects, business phone calls, business letters, editing and proofreading jobs, etc. -- some of these things may be able to be done just as well by someone else. Find a friend, family member, co-worker or a freelancer to do it for you. <bio>Learn the 4,961 Internet Marketing Words And Phrases That Sell Like CRAZY!
If you are the owner of a blog, you will definitely want to subscribe to your own blog through MyYahoo to help you get noticed by the search engines. If you're interested in a variety of blogs, using MyYahoo is a convenient way to manage them and read only the articles you are interested in without having to jump from site to site. Plus, it's easier than subscribing and having to deal with all kind of emails and newsletters and such. You can prioritize them how you like and only read the headlines that interest you and delete the ones you know you'll never read.

Here are the steps:

1.) You will need to copy the blog's RSS feed link to later enter into MyYahoo.

RSS is short for Rich Site Summary and it is a format for sharing content among different websites on the Internet. For example, if you look at the sidebar on my blog you will see the section "Syndicate This Blog" which is where my feeds are. The third one down is the RSS feed you would need to copy. Right click on Entries RSS 2.0 and go down to properties. Highlight and copy the URL. In my case it is: http://nathangurley.com/rss2.aspx This blog is hosted on GoDaddy so this is what their links look like.

On <a href="http://Blogger.com" >http://Blogger.com the Site Feed URLS supposedly end in /atom.xml . Personally, when I was starting I had one on GoDaddy and one on Blogger. I could not find the site feed URL on Blogger and it's not like you can call Google for help. For 2 or 3 bucks a month, it's easier to use GoDaddy because you can call and talk to a real person. Just my opinion =96 you get what you pay for. Blogger is free, good luck.

2.) Go to or create a MyYahoo account and login.

3.) Go all the way down to the bottom of that landing page and look for an "Add Content" link. It is a tiny blue box with a white plus sign in front of add content.

4.) On that page you will see a "Find Content" search box. DO NOT put the RSS Site feed link in that box. It won't do anything, but it will tie up your computer a bit.

5.) To the right of the Find Button, you will see the link you need. Click on "Add RSS by URL which is where you need to be. The links are tiny and there is another one right below it explaining RSS so be sure you are on the top link.

6.) Enter the Site Feed URL from step one into the box that says: "Add RSS by URL" and click add.

7.) When Yahoo finds the site, you will see a box on the right that says "Add To My Yahoo!

If the URL is good, the blog will be added to the bottom of your MyYahoo Page. <bio>Nathan BF Gurley is the owner of Gurley Residential Appraisal Services, LLC and is Editor of Work at Home Weblog.
In 2004, the word "blog" was the most frequently searched-for term in the online edition of the Webster dictionary. Studies now show that Americans alone have created more than 8 million blogs. Many of these blogs have become wildly popular.

A blog is considered a personal journal for anyone to read and the most recent entry is always at the top of the page. The tools available to make a blog are inexpensive and easy to use. Therefore, publishing to the Web is simple for anyone.

Blogs have exploded in popularity over the past few years. The most popular tool for creating and maintaining a blog is Blogger, which is part of the ever-expanding Google empire. Blogger offers a free services where you can manage and host your online journal.

When you start out you will be given step-by-step directions in order to install and set up your blog properly. If you have questions or problems you can repeat the necessary steps without any fear. Blogs are actually quite intuitive, you just have to follow easy steps.

What you should center on when you start a blog is where you can go to if you have any doubts or inquiries. As you begin you will have many questions, such as if you can edit, delete, click which button and where do I find this or that?

The best advice is to become well acquainted with Blogger. In fact, the easiest way to set up your blog is to sign into their site. When you do you'll see the Blogger toolbar which enables you to conduct a Blogger search. There is a nice help section that provides all kinds of guides for your convenience.

This search will refer you to additional information if you need it, such as discussions, languages, help, etc. All of their information is free and they have a world of great resource. You can spend as much time as you want and educate yourself on topics you choose.

Since Blogger is into the service of creating blogs you will be able to spread out with them as you go along. You will be able to understand more and be ready to enter the blogosphere when you are ready.

When your posts go out there are many etiquette rules, certain communication technologies, special language, and reflective skills that you will be capable of displaying because of Blogger's access to information.

You have to set up your blog before you can begin to do anything. However, if you make a mistake while setting up you'll have to return because the computer will not let you continue. Once that part is done, it's done!

The main center point for continued learning and growth should be Blogger and the resources that they already provide to you. There are also lots of blogs about blogging that you can read. These will help you to learn to create material that people will like and can help you to bring valuable traffic to your blog.

Some of the better blogs out there can also teach you how to make profit for your blogs. This takes the fun of blogging to an entirely different level.<bio>Courtney teaches people everywhere how how to start blogs through his website where you can learn how to register a domain and other online skills.</bio>

Creating BR (<a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/blogger" rel="tag">blogger relations) instead of PR is practically a new profession, as more publicity buzz gets started by prominent bloggers. Publicists trying to get media attention for a new product, book or service are now pitching bloggers in addition to journalists and the press.

But pitching bloggers is vastly different from traditional press relations. New rules apply. If you pitch a blogger the wrong way, you could get written up and publicly slammed by the blogger for everyone on the Internet to see. So how do you go about getting a publicity explosion without it blowing up in your face? Here are a few andquot;do'sandquot; and andquot;don'tsandquot; for getting good blog attention.

1. Don't leave your pitch in the comments of a blog post. Send a personal email. Leave comments on blog posts, but only to participate in the conversation, not to pitch or talk about you and your products, services or book.

2. Do target your pitch to the interests and niche covered by the blogger. There's nothing a blogger hates more than receiving pitches completely unrelated to their subject.

3. Don't send a mass mailing press release.

4. Do personalize any pitch or press release with the blogger's name, spelled correctly of course.

5. Don't ask for links. Invite the blogger to review your material. They'll do the rest if they think your pitch is right for their audience.

6. Do develop a relationship with bloggers by reading and commenting on their blogs before you ever pitch them. Subscribe to the RSS feed so you'll stay current on blog posts.

7. Know who else is talking about you. Research your area of expertise through blog searches on Technorati.com, Blogsearch.google.com, and Google alerts.

8. Offer valuable content. Don't announce your product, book, or services as if they were the greatest thing to be created. Instead tell the blogger how you can solve a problem for their readers. Then mention the book, product or service.

9. Build relationships. Do this over the course of a couple of weeks by participating in the conversations on the bloggers' blogs.

10. Have your own blog to show bloggers you andquot;get it.andquot; And use trackbacks so they know you're commenting about them at your own blog before you pitch them. (Trackbacks are an automated blogging feature that notifies a blog when another blog talks about them.)

11. Don't waste bloggers' time on something that isn't relevant to their blog.

12. Don't use crude language or four-letter words. We see this in a lot in blogs written by professionals who would never dream of using this same language in their clients' offices.

13. Remember that anything you say to a blogger might be seen by journalists because many journalists read blogs on topics they cover.

14. Certainly, never chastise a blogger for not accepting comments at their blog. Contact them by email if you have comments, feedback or praise about their content.

15. Don't point out typos at a blogger's blog. When we find our own typos, we sometimes don't bother correcting them, because it would go out into the RSS feed again. <bio>For more leading edge Internet Marketing tips go to http://www.biztipsblog.com.
Although blogging has become a highly popular internet activity, it is hard to be the best of the best. Each day thousands of blogs are created by internet rookies and experts alike. Here are a few questions to ask yourself before beginning this journey.

1) Will blogging really benefit you?

Writing and maintaining a blog will take a high degree of commitment. If you do not enjoy writing very much, you can always create a blog focused on audio or video.

Blogging has benefited many people in the past. They use them to send information to others and interact in small communities. The simple thing to remember is, blogs help to get you noticed on the internet.

2) Who do you want to reach on the internet?

This step is not only important, but also vital to your success online. Whether you want to make money or just blog for fun, people want to know that they can trust you. In other words, you need to build some type of trust with them.

You will want to find some type of target audience to reach. For instance, if you blog about home business opportunities, you will want to try and reach people who want to begin a home based business, or even <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/ebay+users" rel="tag">eBay users.

Your blog has the potential to reach people almost anywhere on the internet. Many of them include regular internet users, blog readers, and search engine users.

3) What is your goal as a blogger?

If you decide to create a blog for business purposes they can help you in a number of ways. Blogs can increase your visibility on the internet, help you get your name and business around to many people, build a small community for you, and they can even help to establish your credibility as an expert to build trust.

4) How much time should you spend blogging?

If you are a serious blogger who writes a lot and keeps up with current news, you will tend to spend a great deal of time customizing and updating your blog. If you spend a great deal of time with this, your blog will easily become a great branding tool for you. Even if you do not have a business, you will build trust with other bloggers and visitors.

5) What is the best blogging platform to use?

This question all depends on the type of blogger you are. If you just want to get a feel for what the blogging world is all about, then you should start with a platform such as blogger or type pad. On the other hand, if you want to begin something serious, you will want to start with the word press platform.

All in all, blogging is a great way to interact with the internet community. You can use them to get your name around the net or even enhance your personal business. It is imperative to start a blog as soon as possible and explore the benefits. If you spend the time and have the patience you can easily succeed and become an ultimate blogger.

Copyright 2007 Donald Mckenzie Jr <bio>Donald Mckenzie Jr has been a successful affiliate marketer for more than 2 years.
Many people turn to a blog content provider because they just don't know how to get the most out of their blogs. Many others - probably with some overlap - choose to have a blog content provider take over the writing and management of their blog because they have trouble coming up with daily content.

When you hire a professional blogger to write and manage your blog, concerns about writer's block tend to fade away. But how do professional bloggers get their ideas? How do they keep content that's relevant and fresh posted on your blog each and every day all month long?

There are a number of ways. The following five, however, speak to the most common ways in which bloggers approach client blogs.

1. They do some research. In part, this entails reading the content of your business' website to get a feel for the products and services that you offer. They look at posts that have been made in the past and they take a look at your industry.

By taking the time to understand your company, your products and services, the way you look at your industry and your business goals, a professional blogger can create a database of topics to explore in your blog.

2. Blog content providers read other blogs on the same topic as the one they are writing. For example, if your blog is about travel, the professional blogger will look at similar sites to see what's being talked about. Same is true whether you are a real estate agent, a hotel manager, a chef or a race car driver.

By reading similar blogs, your blog content provider can help to engage in conversations with others interested in the subject and even create links to boost your blog's popularity.

3. Blog content providers can take a look at your products and services and offer suggestions for putting them to good use. Do you offer a marketing service? If so, your blogger can create content based on ways in which that service can be used.

Sometimes, drawing more customers is simply a matter of providing alternative uses for products and services - uses that you may not see because of your connection to the project.

4. Blog content providers can work with you to create feature content. Feature pieces have long been the mainstay of journalism; people want to hear personal stories and experiences. By profiling one of your customers, working with customer testimonials or offering product reviews of helpful software or even websites, professional blogger can help you to engage with your customers or clients.

You may be reading this article thinking that these are things that you could do on your own. You may be wondering why you need a blog content producer working on your team. "Can't I just do this myself," you may ask.

The truth is that, yes, you can do all of these things on your own. However, often your time will be fractured by phone calls, customer questions and other parts of doing business. A blog content provider, on the other hand, will be committed to creating fresh content that draws readers; the right blog content provider will also be able to create content that attracts search engine crawlers as well.

As a result, your blog will receive increased notice and increased readership and you are likely to experience a surge of interest in the products and services that your company offers. Is a blog content provider a good investment? The right blogger is. <bio>Chris McElroy aka NameCritic provides Professional Management for Business Blogs at http://www.BlogContentProvider.com and can help you choose a blogging solution for your business.
One interesting and little known form of SEO is leaving keyword-enriched comments on other people's blogging sites. This is the secret to SEO success that many bloggers use to attract them to their bummarketing links or to their website selling products. In fact leaving comments on other people's blogs that are relevant to your own can double and even triple the visitors to your own site.

Your first task is to do a Technorati search by posting an article and then searching for your article to see whom else might be blogging on it. This is one way of finding blogs you can exchange links with. Yet another way is to do a Google search to try and pick the right blog.

One key to picking good blogs to comment on is to pick ones that have high quality content and keywords that are similar to your own but don't have many other comments on them. If you choose a blogger that is deluged with comments he or she may not bother to backline to you as you are at the end of the caboose.

One way to get a blogger to pay attention to you is to ask a provocative yet relevant question of the material he or she is posting. This not only attracts people to the link to your blog it also will get the attention of the owner of the blogger site who may even choose to engage in a long exchange of comments with your. This is great for both of you as it is organic SEO full of the terms and phrases that people naturally search for and the search engines will love to pick up the naturally refreshed content. This is the best kind of SEO because a) you don't have to pay for it and b) it is great word of mouth that often reinforces your credibility as an expert. <bio>Chris Angus is a SEO and website promoter, he can be contacted at sales(at)brilliantseo.com http://www.chooseinsurance.co.uk http://www.mobility-direct.co.uk http://www.mdhsasbestosconsultants.com </bio>

Whether you've been marketing your business on the web for years or you are just starting out and recognize that web marketing will greatly contribute to your business success, there's one thing that's key to keeping your company name on people's minds: keeping a blog. With a blog, you'll be able to keep fresh content on your website which adds values for site visitors and draws in the search engine spiders.

What many business owners find - those whose companies are well-established as well as those who are just starting out - is that it takes time to keep a website up to date. They also find that keeping a blog can take a chunk of time out of their day, time that could be used for any number of other activities from taking client calls to checking on production to making sure that the bills are getting paid. Often, despite their best intentions, business owners give up on posting to their blog whether they just give it up all at once or let their posts trickle off slowly.

All of a sudden, even though you know that you should keep a blog for your business, you'll find that it slips off of your priority list and on to your list of things to do. And then you'll find that it slips to that part of the list where things just stay either forever or until everything else on the list is something .

There's a good way of avoiding the problem, however: hire a professional blogger to write the blog for your business.

Why would you hire a professional blogger? Well, to begin with, when you're working with someone who operates a business dedicated to blogging that is staffed by trained bloggers, you'll know that the person writing your blog knows the tips, tools and techniques that will draw attention to your blog. Not only will you be able to benefit from the blogger's experience, but you won't have to spend time learning the techniques or writing the posts.

While those are, in themselves, great benefits, the list doesn't stop there. When you contract with a blogging company, you'll know what you're getting. If you hire a blogger who will post to your blog daily, you can be sure that there will be fresh content added to your site each day. If you hire someone to post five times a week, you'll have five posts each week. A professional blogger makes a commitment to you, a commitment that the job will be done.

As a result, you get all of the benefits that come with having a blog for your business - increased site traffic, incoming links to your website and a relationship with current and prospective customers - without any of the hassle. You don't have to worry about days without posts, coming up with content or staying on top of all of the latest tips and tools that bloggers use to get their work noticed. In no time, you'll find yourself reaping the rewards of a well-written blog. <bio>Chris McElroy aka NameCritic can help you improve the results you get from your blog.
here has been a lot of buzz around <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/blogging" rel="tag">blogging lately, and for good reason. Weblogs, or blogs for short, are changing the way people market themselves and their businesses.

If you aren't familiar with blogging, the concept is relatively easy to grasp. Blogs first began as a shared online journal. A blogger posted diary-like entries about his or her daily life for others to read.

Recently though, blogging has evolved into a new form of business writing and advertising. Many business owners now use blogs to promote their goods and services. Others use blogs to promote their website and get higher search engine rankings. Some politicians even use blogs to reach voters.

The typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media that is somehow related to the blog topic. Though most blogs focus on textual contant, a blogger may include videos, pictures, and even audio in blog posts. A blog comprised of videos is called a vlog and a blog that uses pictures is called a photoblog.

The Benefits of Blogging By adding blogging to their marketing campaigns, business owners are able to market their product with virtually no out of pocket expense. In some cases, bloggers may even be able to make large sums of money with their published blog. For example, a blogger who employs the Google Ad Sense program can make money from blog readers. The more readers a blogger has, the more money can be made from the Google ad.

A blogger can also be a guide for shoppers who are looking for specific products and services. This makes blogging an excellent tool for retailers or affiliate marketers. Blogs can also be a source of valuable information and niche industry news.

Because there are virtually limitless possibilities provided by blogging, it is easy to see why blogs have begun to have a significant impact on mainstream marketing practices. Many companies have noticed this and have chosen to hire a blogger to write and post up to date information for customers, shareholders, and employees.

Some blogs now get millions of readers every single day. There are so many blog readers out there, that experts speculate that the world of blogging is rivaling the mainstream media. New blog search engines are also being created to make searching for a blog easier than ever before.

If you have not yet established a blog for your business, you may want to consider doing so as soon as possible. Keep in mind though that it will take work to attract readers to your blog. It must be interesting or valuable to them in some way. A blogger must also concentrate on creating informative pieces that are as honest and up to date as possible. Blogging is serious business and if you make a mistake, it will not go unnoticed by your readership.

If you need help developing your blog, there are many different browser-based software programs on the market that can help you get a start. Blogs can also be hosted by dedicated blogging services or regular web hosting services.

Last, but not least, a blogger must remember to optimize blog writing for search engines. Blogging is an Internet medium and needs to be approached with Internet principles in mind.

Blogging Example A typical blog entry includes a title or headline, a body of text, a permalink or URL for another web page, and a post date, which indicates the date and time that the post was published. A blogger may also choose to include a link at the bottom to allow readers to post comments on the blog. <bio>Cliff Posey, owner of CRP Marketing, owns and operates http://webbusinesstoolsonline.com.
What is a blogger? A blogger is a cross between an educator, an entertainer and an orator; each blogger 'owns these three hats' and 'wears' each of them while in different moods. One other commonality between bloggers is: each blogger is in search of an audience.

Pack your bags! If you recognize yourself in the preceding paragraph you are ready to begin your journey into the blogosphere. There are only a few things you need to do to make your journey a success:

Find a home for your blog

Find a focus for your posts

Learn "Bletiquette"

Persevere

Find a home for your blog! You need a host for your blog, some are free, some charge a small amount per month for their service, some are simple to use and some require more technical knowledge, some have more features than others; choose carefully, once you've established your blog and have a few regular readers you may not want to change your address (your URL).

Start by surfing the Internet and the blogs to see what bloggers have to say about their hosting programs. Don't get in over your head by picking a blog host that requires a technical expertise that is beyond your current capabilities. There are many free hosts that are more than adequate to start you off and are customizable -- as you gain new technical skills you can edit your blog template to make your blog look like you want it to look and do almost anything you want it to do, all without changing your URL.

If you are using free hosts start blogs at two or three host sites just to see which one you like best and which one gives you the most capabilities right 'out of the box.' When you find one you are happy with, be nice and go back and cancel your other blogs.

Find a focus for your posts! Most every blog has a theme, a theme that sets the tone for most (not necessarily all) of the posts on that blog. Your blog can be a topical blog that focuses on a special interest of yours (politics, religion, health care, science, engineering, cooking etc.); a personal blog that focuses on what you are doing that day, where you have been, where you are going or any aspect of your life's journey; or a showcase blog that displays your writing, art, photography, or etc.. Some posts will not fall into your blogs main theme and that's OK -- your blog is a reflection of you, and we all have different moods . . . we all 'wear different hats;' don't decide not to post just because you feel like writing 'something different.'

"Bletiquette!" The objective of most bloggers is to attract a regular readership; to do that you need to display some basic (really common sense) blog etiquette (bletiquette!):

When commenting on a post, stick to the point, don't get personal or abusive.

Never comment as "Anonymous;" if you are ashamed to use your actual blogger name, don't comment.

Try to respond to all comments on your post, even if it is just to say "thanks for commenting" (but don't expect all bloggers to do this).

Don't get personal by asking personal questions unless you have a long-standing relationship with the other blogger; bloggers enjoy the relative anonymity of a blog and a blogger name.

If you are "flamed" (verbally attacked for something you wrote) don't get into a "flame war;" respond politely or not at all.

Never take a block of text, a unique phrase, a picture, a graphic or anything else from another blog or from any web page and use it in your post as is, without clearly indicating where it came from.

Persevere! Bloggers blog! That's what they do! If you post every day you will improve not only your technique but also your readership; don't give up.

Bloggers are very much like novelists. Novelists write every day and finally reach the end of the novel. Then they submit the novel to publishers, file their rejection notices and resubmit to other publishers. Eventually, every novelist who perseveres gets published . . . eventually every blogger who perseveres gets a loyal readership and his or her own measure of success. <bio>Discover How YOU - Or Anyone - Can Easily Create Your Own Professional eCover In Just A Few Minutes without Having To Hire An Expensive Web Designer OR Use A Third Party Software! http://www.photoshopecoversoftware.com You may reproduce this article as long as it is accompanied with a hyperlink. </bio>

Want to have your own blog? In this material you will learn step by step how to make a blog.

I will present you 3 solutions for building a blog: 1. using Blogger.com 2. using WordPress 3. using Joomla

1. Using Blogger.com (www.blogger.com)

Blogger.com was launched in August 1999 by Evan Williams and Meg Hourihan (Pyra Labs) and purchased by Google in February 2003. Blogger.com is one of the most popular solutions for blogging.

To use Blogger.com you must make an account on the site. This is easy, simply fill a short online form with your email address, name, username and password.

You will get access to dashboard, the place from where you create blogs and manage them. Click create a new blog and choose a blog title (must be unique) and a blog address. I suggest putting your keywords in the blog title and address.

After that just choose a template that you like and you have your blog.

Blogger strengths: •	Is free •	Open source •	Easy to use •	Don' t need a domain name or a web host Blogger weakness is that you can loose the information from your blog. So keep every post on your hard disk.

Example of blogs build with Blogger: http://affiliatesecretsrevealed.blogspot.com, a blog about affiliate marketing and http://funnygiftideas.blogspot.com a blog about funny gifts.

2. Using WordPress (www.wordpress.org)

WordPress is publishing software with a focus on easy of use, speed and a great user experience. WordPress is a powerful personal publishing platform, and it comes with a great set of features designed to make your experience as a publisher on the Internet as easy, pleasant and appealing as possible.

For using WordPress you must have a domain name and hosting. To find a good web hosting service visit www.web-hosting-advisor.info. If your hosting service has the cpanel application installing WordPress is very easy: just go to cpanel, Fantastico, WordPress, and click install. Just follow the info on the screen.

If you don't have cpanel don't worry, download the install kit from http://wordpress.org/download. You can find WordPress online manual on http://codex.wordpress.org/Main_Page. Read the manual and follow the instruction, installation is simple.

WordPress strengths: •	Is free •	Easy to use •	Powerful Weakness WordPress demands minimal computer knowledge.

Example of blogs build with WordPres: www.plasmatelevisionadvice.info a blog about plasma television advice, tips, shopping guide and www.gadgets-club.com a blog for gadget fans.

3. Using Joomla (www.joomla.org)

Joomla is a free, open source portal solution. With Joomla you can build a portal and a blog. Joomla is recommended for a person who wants more than a blog.

You must have a domain name and hosting to be able to install Joomla. Installing Joomla is very easy: just download the install kit from http://forge.joomla.org/sf/frs/do/viewRelease/projects.joomla/frs.joomla_1_0.1_0_12,

upload it on your server and click install. Follow the on screen instructions you and will do fine.

Joomla strengths: •	Is free •	Open source •	Easy to install •	Builds an entire website, not just a blog Weakness of Joomla in the complexity. It may take a while to learn how to use it.

Example of blogs build with Joomla: http://www.giftideasblog.net a blog that presents cool gift ideas and http://www.killdeal.info/content/blogsection a blog about hot offers and kill deals.

Now it is up to you to choose the solution that fits you best. <bio>Dan Ionescu is the webmaster for http://www.happyblogging.info the blog which teach you how to build a blog, promote it and make money with it.
What is a blog? Not only that, but what are blogs used for? If you don't know the answer to that, where have you been for the last three or four years? The word blog is short for web log, and is strictly a record of the changing content of your website. People who were interested in the content of your site would register to receive your blog, and would be informed whenever a page on your site was updated.

However, although that is still a prime use for blogs, they are now also used for advertising and passing on information. Many use blogs as a type of article site, wherein there are no restrictions on their content or on the degree of advertising they include in the article body. If blogs are nothing but blatant adverts, however, they will tend to have very few subscribers.

Blogs can also allow comments to be posted by readers, although this is an option that not all bloggers allow. It is a good way to allow interaction on your website, and is something like a low key forum. However, blogs that allow this interaction tend to be more popular than those that do not, unless they are specifically known for their useful content.

There are two easy ways for the beginner to start blogging, and these are through Blogger and Wordpress. Blogger belongs to Google, and strictly the content on your blogs on the Blogger site also belongs to Google. Blogger is not run from your own website, but from a site provided to you by Google, although you can provide a link from your website to your blog page. This, however, bleeds PageRank from your web page containing the link to your blog.

Wordpress is a more advanced blogging option, and you can either have it hosted by Wordpress, in the same way that Google hosts Blogger, or you can host your Wordpress blog yourself. The latter is preferable because there are many Wordpress plugins you can use to personalize or customize your blog. Once you get the hang of how Wordpress works from your own website, then that is by far the better method. Links to your blog are then from one page of your site to another, and can be used as part of your internal linking strategy.

Blogs are used by many people to make money, and if you know how to use blogs for profit, then they can be a very good source of income. Some need no other since they make many thousands of dollars monthly only from their blogs. What is a blog to some is that it is their entire living. To reach that standard, however, you have a lot of learning to do, but it can be done. There are no secrets about blogs, and all it takes is the knowledge of how to use them and a bit of intelligence and common sense.

Another aspect of blogs that can be used to your advantage in marketing your website is Blog and Ping. This refers to the use of social bookmarking sites and others such as Technorati, where you can register your blog and ping them, or let them know when your blog content has been changed. Other such sites are del.icio.us. blinklist and spurl among others. There are techniques that can be used to help you get useful one-way links back to your website, and also exposure of your blog, and hence the adverts on it, to users of these very popular web2 sites.

So the answer to the question What is a Blog, is that it is a very useful means of communicating with others and a good way to keep your email list informed of new material on your website that could be useful to them. What are blogs used for? To market your site and your products, but also to keep people in touch with what is happening on your web site.

Use it right, and a blog can be the main tool you use to advertise your site, and you will no longer have to pay for advertising or other means of driving traffic to your site. A blog can do that job very well. <bio>For more information and a fabulous offer on how to use blogs for profit, check out Peter's web site http://www.create-a-blog.net where you will receive not only useful information on blogging, but also on search engine marketing in general. </bio>

Some of you may have already experienced writer's, or in this case blogger's, block. This is when you can't seem to start blogging anything worthwhile, sometimes not even a single word's worth.

How could this happen when you were so good at blogging before? Why is it that you can't get one word written? And the most frustrating thing of all: the more time you spend thinking about blogging, the less able you are to start your next project! Is there any cure? Luckily, there are a few things you can try.

Visiting other people's blogs is a good start. Read through your favorite ones, or do a random blog search and see what gets turned up. Reading what other people have to say can spark your own creativity and send you over the hump of blogger's block. Leave some comments to get you started; you might be able to expand on their ideas, and sometimes you can track back to your own blog. Looking at your blog inbox can help, too, as there might be a question or comment there that can get you started.

Look for a word or topic. Then begin writing about it. You can also do this with pictures. Check out photos and think of something to write about it. You can also check the news, which is always rich with current events. Even if there isn't anything that directly relates to what you normally write about, writing about something completely different than your normal topics can help.

If those things do not seem to work for you, you can search for creative or journal writing software to help you with your writing problem. Oftentimes, these things have suggestions of topic or idea that can help you get started.

Think about an extraordinary topic. For example, you can research about inventions and inventors. What was the first car ever invented? Anything that you fancy can become a blog entry. You can look for answers to questions like the one about the car at online resources like encyclopedias and almanacs. When you have the answer, blog about it. You never know, maybe some people are thinking of the same things and you have answered their questions. Besides, it can be good to drift from your usual topic one in awhile. Your readers might feel refreshed by the change.

If none of these exercises help, it might be time to do something unrelated to writing for a while. Sometimes we just need a break from writing! Go outside, go shopping, go to a movie. Anything to take your mind off of your blog. You just might feel refreshed and ready to start blogging once you get back up in front of your computer.

There are a lot more ways to beat blogger's block. If you come up with something new that helps you get over it, think of what a good blog topic your experience would be! Who knows, you may even help someone out there who is struggling with blogger's block! <bio>Visit http://www.rss-feeds-directory.com today!
