Online shopping is a gigantic industry, and with good reason, too. Few shopping methods offer more convenience, better prices, or better information access than shopping via the internet. However, it pays to follow a few precautions when shopping on the internet.

Secure Shopping

When ordering from an online site, one of the first things you should check is to see that their order page is secure. The page you enter your address and contact details on doesn't need to be secure, but the page you enter your credit card on should be.

The easiest way to tell that a page is secure is that it will start with https. Also, in Internet Explorer, you'll see a yellow padlock at the bottom of your browser window.

Reputable Merchant

You should also do at least a little research to ensure that the website you are ordering from is a reputable, dependable merchant. There are several ways to check on the reputability of a merchant:

Are they listed with the Better Business Bureau? Are they members of any other third party verification entities? Check their customer reviews on third party sites like http://Alexa.com, <a href="http://BizRate.com" >http://BizRate.com, and <a href="http://Shopzilla.com" >http://Shopzilla.com

If you're purchasing from a seller on an online marketplace like Ebay or Amazon Marketplace, check their ratings and customer feedback. Most online marketplaces offer some kind of a guarantee against fraud for orders placed on their website.

Company policies

Also check on the companies policies before you order from them. You should check that they have at least some kind of a guarantee and return policy. Also, how quickly do they ship orders? What customer service do they offer? Do they have full contact info on their website, including their physical address and phone number?

With a little research, you can save some time and money by shopping online -- and not worry about not getting your money's worth! <bio>Just Buy Online is a UK based online retailer with such a secure shop. Having served well over 30 thousand customers you can trust to go about their business professionally. http://www.justbuyonline.co.uk </bio>

In today's market, many people are choosing to shop online because of the convenience. You no longer have to wait in line or deal with crowds at shopping malls or stores.
While it is true that the Internet has completely changed how most people shop for big ticket items, it has also changed what we buy by providing reviews of every possible product out there, from DVD players to digital cameras and even cheap bar stools. Entire encyclopedic websites with tens of thousands of pages exist for the sole purpose of recommending or decrying a particular product, so you can see how important these sites are when you are shopping for the right cheap bar stools for your home. Let's take a look at how these sites work and how they can stop you from making a mistake when it comes to buying the right bar stools for your home.

If you already have a particular brand of cheap bar stools in mind, you can simply do a <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/google+search" rel="tag">Google search for that brand plus the word review and you'll be treated to dozens of different sites that have honest and forthright reviews of that product. One of the most popular sties for product reviews is Epinions.com. This clever site has millions of product reviews available for free, including reviews of some of the most popular, and most affordable, bar stools on the market. Chances are, if you are looking to purchase a well known brand of cheap bar stool, you'll be able to find a review here in seconds flat.

A second site you can use to find honest cheap bar stool reviews is BizRate.co.uk. BizRate started life as one of the original shopping agent websites that allows you to type in a product name and get a list of retailers and prices back so you can always go with the cheapest option. However, as the site grew, it began to add product reviews and is now one of the largest product review sites on the Internet. What makes this site even better is the fact that you can click on the various retailers it has listed for the particular cheap bar stool that you're interested in and you will be treated to even more product reviews from that retailers site.

Finally, even if you don't plan on buying your bar stools from Amazon.co.uk, it is a fantastic resource for reviews on both expensive and cheap bar stools. They have a huge selection so no matter which cheap bar stool you want to buy, they will likely sell it and have dozens of reviews for it, too.

One thing that is important to keep in mind is that no matter how well made or how durable a cheap bar stool is, there is going to be at least one person who has a negative experience with it. You could be selling the greatest product in the world and there will be at least one negative person who isn't happy with it. Don't let a single negative review scare you off from buying a cheap bar stool. Look for multiple bad reviews as a sign that something is seriously wrong with that product.<bio>Leo Collins is the marketing manager of Simply Bar Stools a leading supplier of Cheap Bar stools.
Affiliate marketing is an excellent way for the internet entrepreneur to earn income -- it requires no stocking of products, no shipping, no handling of returns, no credit card processing, etc. But sometimes it can be hard to make money as an affiliate marketer, because the competition can be pretty stiff. Here are some tips to help you stand out from the crowd of competition.

Tip 1 -- Content is King If there is an overused cliché in internet marketing, it's probably "Content is King". But it is true. If you want to stand out from the other affiliate marketers selling the same products you are, you have to give your visitors something that the other websites do not.

For example, you might do a detailed comparison of two similar products, with links to buy each. Or you might create a custom script to help buyers find the product that meets their selected criteria.

You could also have a "deal finder" option that would search for the best deals on a product from several stores, similar to Bizrate.com and similar sites.

Tip 2 -- Play both sides of the field As an affiliate marketer, it's to your advantage to sell competing brands -- you can give your customers better selection, an unbiased position, etc. You can also join an affiliate program like Amazon's to fill in the gaps in your other programs, so you can offer your visitors a complete line of products.

Tip 3 -- Follow the rules As simple as it may seem, read the rules of the affiliate programs you're part of. Especially pay attention to the license you are granted for use of corporate trademarks, and marketing rules. It's not worth getting kicked out of the program.

Becoming an affiliate marketing expert will take time and effort. Start with above tips, and keep learning and trying new things. Get involved in affiliate marketing forums and learn from the experts. Best wishes to your success! <bio>Get affiliate marketing: http://www.evolution-internet.com/58/affiliate-marketing.aspx and internet marketing solutions: http://www.evolution-internet.com/51/internet-marketing.aspx </bio>

More and more people are shopping online each year. The growing popularity of online shopping is easy to explain -- online shopping offers greater convenience, and better prices than any other shopping method.

If you follow the tips in this article, you can take advantage of great savings available to you online.

Tip #1: Use Comparison shopping sites

Comparison shopping sites, such as bizrate, shopzilla, http://shopping.com, Froogle, Yahoo Shopping, and many others, are extremely valuable tools. Using one of these sites, you can find the cheapest online retailer for the product you wish to purchase. In most cases, the sites can calculate shipping and tax for you as well.

Plus, these comparison shopping sites offer unbiased ratings and reviews on both products and retailers, so you can be sure you're getting a good product from a dependable online retailer.

Tip #2: Use Online Markets

You can save a considerable amount of money by shopping on online marketplaces, such as Ebay or Amazon Marketplace. These sites allow you to purchase directly from individuals or discount sellers. You can often buy brand new products at steep discounts. Just like the comparison shopping sites, online marketplace sites offer ratings and reviews to help you make your decision.

Books and CDs are items that you can get especially good deals on at online market places. Electronics are not generally as cheap.

Tip #3: Sign Up for affiliate programs

If you buy from a particular merchant alot, you should consider joining their affiliate program. If their affiliate program rules allow it, you can earn a commission on all of your own purchases. Just be sure that you click on your affiliate link to make your purchase.

Of course, be sure to check the affiliate program terms of service to be sure that it's OK to make personal purchases via your affiliate link. <bio>Visit http://www.edealsuk.com and http://www.edealsuk.com/Cashback-SpecialOffers-shopping.aspx and http://www.edealsuk.com/Cashback-online-Freebies-Freestuff.aspx for more ways to save money. </bio>

Plasma TV Buying Tips

Plasma technology seems to be the buzz these days and its popularity continues to grow as <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/hdtv" rel="tag">HDTV, DVD-video, DTV, and digital satellite become more commonplace. These plasma TV buying tips will help you make the right decision.

Plasma resolution is higher than traditional TV sets and it's capable of HDTV, DTV, as well as VGA, SVGA, and XGA. A plasma television will have a display of 1366 x 768 and it will provide much more vibrant colors and clarity than anything we've seen in the past.

Plasma is measured diagonally just like other televisions. The smallest screen is 32 inches and the largest is 63 inches. If you are recessing your TV, you need to leave 3 inches of space at top to provide proper ventilation. You will also need 6 inches on each side for your speakers.

You need to make sure your plasma will allow for proper viewing from all directions. Don't just purchase the largest screen because it's a good price. Purchase a size that works best with your room.

Thirty-two to thirty-seven inch screens are viewed best from 6 to 10 feet. Forty-two inch screens are viewed best from 10 to 14 feet; and 50 inch screen are best viewed from 12 to 16 feet. Screens that are over 50 inches should be viewed from at least 15 feet away.

The flatter the tube is on the television the less glare you will get from windows, doors, and lamps. You'll also get less distortion on the screen. If you are going to the expense of buying a plasma television, go for the flat screen right away. It's definitely a smart investment.

Make sure the TV has at least one set of audio video inputs and at least one set of audio output. More is better if at all possible. Also check for RCA composite, component video inputs, and S-video. If you are going to use HDTV, then check for the HD component firewire.

When it comes time to go shopping you can choose to purchase from a local retail outlet or you might want to have a look online. There are often some great buys to be found online. Of course, as with any purchase, use common sense. If the price sounds too good to be true it usually is. Always buy from a reputable dealer that you know you can trust.

There are several pricing portals online such as Nextag, Pricegrabber, and Bizrate. These sites are a quick way to see what is available at different sites online. Remember the only sites you'll find on these portals are paid advertisers but it's still a good place to start looking.

Be sure to check the warranty on the television you are looking at. If an extended warranty option is available it's definitely worth considering if it's reasonably priced.

Follow these plasma TV buying tips and you'll be well on your way to buying that new TV!
Of the many various GPS manufactures, Garmin has become the most popular. Not only do they make a high-quality product, but they offer a wide variety of GPS units for average consumers, mariners and pilots. However, quality can come at a price, as some Garmin GPS units can range in price up to thousands of dollars. This is why it is important to try to find a source for discount Garmin GPS products if at all possible.

The first way one can try to find as source of discount Garmin GPS products is from the Garmin website itself, Garmin.com. The company website does not sell discount Garmin GPS directly; rather they provide a list of stores that do sell their equipment. They also provide access to refurbished GPS units that sell at greatly reduced prices. Refurbished units from authorized sellers come with a short warranty. Most refurbished Garmin GPS products are very reliable. Another option to finding a discount Garmin GPS unit is to check out the special offers on their website. Discount coupons are frequently available to many Garmin GPS products. To find Garmin retail stores, one has to make two selections: what country they are in and what type of GPS system they are looking for. The resulting hits will show information about the store including: address, telephone number, email address and a link if it is online. The potential buyer will have to search through the list to see which store offers the best discount Garmin GPS.

The second way one can locate a source of low priced Garmin GPS is from auction sites such as Ebay or Ubid. These sites work through a bidding system. Sellers post their items which contain a starting bid. The buyer places their bid and if they bid the highest after a number of days they have purchased the item. Auction sites also allow sellers to utilize the "buy it now" feature. Of course, "buy it now" tends to be more expensive in comparison to bidding, but it gives the seller an option to buy the item immediately. When the buyer is ready to pay, they can use their credit card or bank account through a payment system known as Paypal. Often using online auctions will provide the best prices for discount Garmin GPS products.

Another way you can buy a Garmin GPS at a reduce price is through shopping comparison sites, such as Froogle.com, Bizrate and Pricegrabber. Why would one even consider other methods of buying discount Garmin GPS if these options are available? It is because though these sites are very helpful, they do not always provide the match one might be looking for. Sometimes the results may not even be related to what one was looking for. Other times what they would consider a discount Garmin GPS would not necessarily be what the person searching would consider a `discount Garmin GPS', since the prices could actually be those of regular retail Garmin GPS. This is a major downside when using shopping comparison sites, which is why one should be aware of the different sources of discount Garmin GPS units.

There are several methods for finding discount Garmin GPS products: through the Garmin website itself, auction sites or shopping comparison sites. Through these resources one can save hundreds, maybe even thousands of dollars on their next Garmin GPS unit. Purchasing a Garmin GPS at any price is a good investment. However, there should be no excuse why anyone should have to settle for a lesser quality GPS brand when you have access to discount Garmin GPS products. <bio>James Kesel,MS http://www.gps-auto-trackers.com </bio>

Even the reason behind the naming convention (one of the Google staff's kids call him Big Daddy at home) is out in the open.

How Bigdaddy will affect page rankings within Google however, still remains to be seen, although there is a lot of speculation floating around the Net. Mr. Cutt's blog states that the new foundation will improve cannonicalization, which is the computer code that tells a search engine that

www.domain.com domain.com domain.com/index.html www.domain.com/index.html

are all the same web site. It is also reported that the data center will positively impact 302 redirects, which have been a known issue for some time.

What wasn't anticipated with the update though were the chaotic and oftentimes strange behaviors the search engine has displayed, most notably over the past several months. Although some of Google's previously-indexed sites dropping off the face of the engine may be associated with their reported lack of server space and others due to Google's "different datacenters get different data at different times" statement, many of the problems seem surreal, without explanation.

For instance, Webmaster World's forums have reported large SERPS drops, changes in supplemental result handling, "home page only" results and pages dropping right out of the Bigdaddy index, while the Digital Point forums are asking if Google has cleaned their index and why the supplemental problem is reoccurring.

What little information is available on the subject is only the information that webmasters are providing each other; little explanation is coming from Google themselves right now. Some experts have shown that the supplemental deletions across the data centers have been gradual over the past several months, with the idea that perhaps the supplemental results are being deleted to free up server space. Others have noticed the inclusion of longer URLs with multiple variables, such as database-driven pages (which were not previously indexed), and the product-based sites like BizRate and Amazon generating higher search results than previously found.

Right now, the only "fixes" seem to be either contacting a member of the Google team (most notably posting in Mr. Cutts' blog), ensuring your website doesn't fit within the "too similar" Google guideline (as it seems that sites with slightly different page text are doing better than most) or hitting up Google's site for a re-inclusion request. Without more guidance from Google though, there isn't much webmasters can actively do at the moment, other than sit back and watch Bigdaddy work out the search engine-retrieval bugs, talk over the situation with other webmasters, and stay as informed on the subject as possible. <bio>http://www.get-vonage.net </bio>

Area rugs are a very popular and sought after item for many shoppers. From time to time everybody will need a new rug to compliment the interior of their home and really bring out the tone and warmth of a room. Many people prefer high traffic area rugs that can be lain over those often walked over portions of a room and can serve to both protect their carpeting from wear and tear, as well as to really add some charm to a room. Area rugs are a great way to add finishing touches to your home's interior décor, and thanks to the World Wide Web, area rugs in a variety of patterns and styles are widely available online. But in order to really get the best deals to be had on rugs, you need to make sure that you know what to look for and that you are shopping smart.

Finding the best deals

This is the hardest and most trying task when shopping for area rugs, or anything for that matter online. The internet is literally inundated with millions of websites that all sell similar things, and sometimes finding the sites that offer the best deals can be a really time consuming task. But there are ways around this mish mash, so to speak. Try using what are called shopping comparison search engines, and type in specific keywords like: area rugs, or all natural area rugs. The comparison search engines will search through any and all merchants and allow you to find and compare those who offer the best deals.

How to know that you are being offered the lowest prices

Generally speaking, the top merchants who offer area rugs and rugs for sale online will already know what prices the competition is offering. Your best bet is to find several of the top online merchants who offer the product that you are seeking to find the best deals on and compare prices between them. Look for offers like price match guarantees, where a merchant will meet or beat another merchant's advertised online price. You can then go through a merchant of your choosing and use their price match to get the same rug from their inventory at a better, lower price.

Sales tax and shipping

You always want to look for free shipping and no sales tax. Sales tax online will only be applicable if the merchant is based in your home state. However, many merchants will offer mirror sites that are based out of state to allow their loyal customers who reside in state to enjoy sales tax free shopping. When you crunch the numbers, sales tax can really add up. As far as free shipping goes, if a merchant does not offer free shipping, there are ample amounts that will. Never pay more than you have to.

Returns and customer service

Check out the merchant online and at a few reliable sources. Make sure they are getting mostly positive feedback. Review their customer service and returns policy and make sure you can live with it. Heck, even call their tollfree number and see how friendly the associates are before you whip out that wallet and tender payment. Also make sure that you check their online feedback. Many sites will have a rating on other sites that rate them like: Bizrate Feedback, Amazon Feedback, Price Grabber Feedback and Shopping.com Feedback. Look for a higher star rating to assure that the merchant you are using is reputable.<bio>Michael-Jon Lazar Content-author.com NaturalAreaRugs.com</bio>

Makita Impact Driver

Makita 6936FD is the most popular 18V Cordless Impact Driver on the market today. Ion battery and optimum charging system produces 280 percent more lifetime work with 2x more cycles. It features a 4 pole motor with dual steel ball . I chose the Makita because of the price for a 5 piece kit compared to say that of a DeWalt five piece kit. Also Makita's solution of offering the same driver with a less capable battery at a lower price point is just plain dumb.

Makita Hammer Drill

A Makita specialist is standing by to assist you and this gives great comfort when buying a Makita product, unfortunately the same cannot be said of the other power tool manufacturers. I use sites such as BizRate in finding the best pricing and availability for Makita hammer drills abd other Power Tools =96 it pays to shop around and research properly. It enables Makita to build a small but powerful tool that performs well in all kinds of jobsite conditions. Makita or the Bosch tools are extremely robust and reliable, and if I had to make my lively hood from these tools, I would stick with the Makita or the Bosch tools. Please note that Makita will only honor their warranty if you can produce a purchase receipt from an authorized distributor. Did you know you can buy Makita tools without paying retail prices? You will find a lot of websites offering a discount off all the list prices for Makita tools and many high street stores are also lowering their prices in order to compete =96 good for the consumer but not so good for the retailers.

The Makita Corporation

Makita is a big sponsor in AMA Motocross Racing. Makita is a consumer products company that provides portable electric power tools and related accessories. Makita Fastenings will be the company continuing the nailer business. Makita products are sold principally under the Makita brand name and the remaining products are sold under the Dolmar or Maktec brand names. No other connection exists, or is implied, between LWSI and Makita.

Makita Accessories

All Makita armatures are dynamically balanced to twice the industry standard, giving Makita the finest balanced motor armature available to ensure long life with less vibration. Most web sites and retailers offer an extensive selection of Dewalt Power Tools, Makita Tools, Porter Cable Tools, and Milwaukee and prices can vary a great deal, a lot more than you think so you should perhaps try one of the shopping comparison sites such as Froogle or Pricerunner. Some retailers do not specialize in industrial quality Makita Power Tools and Accessories so for some of the larger or more specialist machines you would need to seek out a specialist dealer. Contact details can be gotten through the Makita main website, just select contact from the main menu and a representative will reply (from experience this is usually within a day or two) or failing that check out a power tool forum and post a question on there. <bio>More on impact wrenches at http://www.powertooldirect.co.uk/makita_powertools_impact_wrenches-cm-2-87.= html </bio>

The Internet is a great invention for many different reasons. But, did you know that it can be a great resource for saving you money when shopping? You no longer have to clip coupons out of the Sunday paper; you can find them right at the tip of your fingers just by knowing where to look!

Coupons

One of the easiest ways to save money on the Internet is by printing online coupons. All you have to do is type the search criteria andquot;online couponandquot; in your favorite search engine and you are on your way to savings! Here are some examples of great online web sites that help you save money:

CouponSurfer CouponSurfer has almost 300 coupons from over 100 stores on their web site. Do you need new brake pads on your car? You can save up to 50% just by filling out the free registration form at CouponSurfer and printing their coupon. Other recent savings at CouponSurfer were a 40-cent coupon from Tropicana, a 50-cent off coupon from St. Joseph's aspirin, and coupons from Pampers.

Hot Coupons Hot Coupons lets you type in your zip code or city name to find discounts offered in your area. You can find savings for local restaurants, automotive centers, health centers, retail stores, and businesses including real estate, lawyers, hotels, and doctors.

Also, pay attention to television commercials. Many times, companies coming out with a new product will advertise on television and list a web page where you can print a money saving coupon. A recent commercial from Febreze listed their web page address. By going there, you can fill out a form and have Frebreze mail you $20 in coupons for many of their products, including their latest electronic air freshener, NOTICEables.

Coupon Codes

There are also web sites that offer a percentage off online purchases. Ultimate Coupons is a great example of this type of online savings site. Ultimate Coupons constantly updates their site with the latest in online savings. A recent search showed coupons for 10% off at <a href="http://Target.com" >http://Target.com, 15% off Pet Supplies at Petco, and $5 off $20 on Digital Photos andamp; Gifts at Snapfish. Many times, if you search online, you can also find codes for free shipping to places like Macys, Sears, Amazon, and Old Navy.

Freebies

Many web sites have user forums where people can share online savings and free offers with each other. Big Big Forums is an excellent place to visit to find coupon codes, freebies, and reward programs. Members (there are over 31,000) post different offers they have seen on television or found online. There are folders for each particular type of offer, so it is very easy to find things here. Once you register for free, you too can post coupon codes and freebies. You may even be lucky enough to get in on a free subscription to a magazine such as TV Guide or link to a free Schick Quattro razor.

Comparison Shopping

A great feature of many Internet web sites is that they will give you price comparisons of items for which you are looking. Froogle is Google's shopping search engine. All you have to do is type in the name of what you are looking for and Froogle does the rest! It will find web pages selling the item you are looking for and lists the price. That way, you can find the best deal available. There are several other web sites that will help you to do comparison shopping such as MySimon and Bizrate. Letting these sites help you find the best price can make every online shopping experience enjoyable.

Other web sites can save you money online too. You can refinance your home loan and find the lowest interest rates by searching at Ditech or search for the cheapest car insurance at Geico. How do you learn about all the sites available? The best way is to pay attention to the media. Commercials, newspapers, and magazines are always listing web sites. Also, join a forum such as Big Big Forums. When people share ideas and resources, it can be great for your pocketbook. Remember that every coupon and savings opportunity adds up! <bio>Jean Gibbons offers valuable tips and advice on saving money online, internet coupons, and using coupons codes for discounts. http://www.free-coupons-online.com </bio>

So you want to save a few hundred dollars but don't want to give up your morning latte? While it is easy to preach how to cut your daily habits to save a buck, it is difficult to practice the same for most folks. However, there are other ways to cut your expenses without sacrificing your daily habits.

In today's technology driven society, we spend a lot of money buying electronics gadgets and accompanying services to make our life easy. Sellers know that we have disposable incomes and they push many services that we absolutely don't need.

When you sign up for a cell phone service, they will try to push the loss-damage warranty for $5 a month. When did you last use that warranty to claim a new phone? In most cases you don't need the service. In the worst case, if you loose or damage the phone, buy a cheap phone from eBay to carry you over till your contract expires.

If you are an occasional mobile phone user, get a pre-pay phone. Using a pre pay phone card that charges 10 cents per minute for talk time, you will be able save a few hundred dollars every year.

If you are in the market for a computer, buy the one on sale in your local electronics store. Every week, all national retailers have laptop and desktop computers on sale. Avoid mail-in rebates. Go for instant rebates.

Today's cheap computers provide most functionality for majority of users. Don't buy a high-end computer because the sales person says that the one on sale has slow Internet speed or other such nonsense.

Just buy the computer and don't buy any software or warranty even if the sales person insists that you absolutely need that anti-virus and word processing software for an additional $300. Check with your broadband provider or the company you work for if they provide anti-virus software for free to install in you personal computer.

Use the Google search engine to find open source anti-virus and word processing software. The key word here is open source. You will find a few excellent open source word processing and anti-virus software. For example, Open Office for word processing and spreadsheet and clamWin for anti-virus.

Don't buy any computer accessories like memory or hard drive from your local retailers. They charge way too much compared to online stores like newegg, ecost, etc. Sign up with newegg and ecost to get their newsletters full of items on sale every week.

Before you decide to buy a gadget, visit price comparison sites like pricegrabber, bizrate, pricescan, shopzilla, mysimon, etc. Also regularly check out bargain hunting sites like techbargains, dealtime, etc. Don't forget to search for the item you are looking for in amazon, the grand daddy of all online retail stores.

Drop all those premium movie channels that your cable company has sold you as savings if you purchase them in a bundle. You only need one premium channel. Why subscribe to three and pay an additional $5 to $8 every month?

If you are renting your broadband cable modem for $10 or more every month, buy a new modem for $50 to $75. These modems last for long time and you will recover your money within six months after you drop the modem rental. You will be on you way to savings of at least $10 a month.

If you are paying more than $20 a month for your land phone line, drop it immediately. Get a cheap VoIP phone from lingo for $10 a month. If you are a heavy land phone line user, you will still save by switching to a VoIP phone.

If you frequently drive in unknown places, get a car navigation system. But don't buy a factory installed in-car navigation system. A car navigation system gives driving directions and suggests alternate routes to take to avoid traffic congestions due to accidents, road constructions, etc.

Factory installed systems are over priced. The price of a portable GPS navigation system has dropped below $200. You can also move your portable system to another vehicle that does not have a navigation system.

We will be spending a lot of money in the years ahead on more gadgets to improve our productivity, make life easy, and for the sheer joy of living. Knowing how to squeeze every penny from those expenses will definitely improve your personal finances. <bio>Dr Deepak Dutta creator of oldest online free classified site http://www.classifiedsforfree.com has launched DigMyPage http://www.digmypage.com to help website owners build links and increase traffic using MySpace type free pages and Digg style free submissions. </bio>

Learn how to save BIG online by searching for multiple coupons, getting free shipping, comparing prices and researching the brands.

Many consumers think that online shopping is more expensive because they wouldn't have to pay shipping at the brick-n-mortar store. They don't know what you're about to find out.

Did you know that there are thousands of websites that exist just to provide you with coupons for online stores? Did you know you can find sites that compare prices, and brand features, or that entire forums and networks are dedicated to allowing users to voice their own opinion about a product or service? Did you know many stores use their online portal and email newsletters as a quick way to unload overstocked products at below-cost prices? Did you know some stores allow you to combine free shipping deals with dollar off deals, with percent off deals, with buy-one-get-one deals=85? Did you know there are companies that allow you to join their affiliate program and save hundreds of dollars by selling yourself their product? I know of one that lets me buy a hosting package for $95 including taxes, and then deposits $100 back into my affiliate account a few months later. They are actually paying ME to buy their product. It says nothing against doing this in the agreement I signed, and as far as I'm concerned it is a don't ask; don't tell situation.

Most of these sites did not exist five years ago, at least not with such economic success while providing such unprecedented value. We have the emergence of Affiliate Marketing to thank for this, as you will see below.

The Digital Coupon

I was shopping for a relative's Christmas present last year and my mother saw me get onto a coupon site. It was http://www.thecouponmatrix.com , which has little coupon-like dashes around the logos, and she asked "Are you going to print that coupon out?" It dawned on me then that perhaps not 'everyone' knew what an affiliate program was, or that thousands of merchants pay bloggers and website owners in every conceivable industry to distribute online coupons via special codes that the buyer types into a field during the checkout process: "Save 25% on everything =96 today only! Enter Code: 12345 at Checkout." Others just apply the code automatically when you click on the link: "Get free shipping. Click Here." If you are going to buy the Blue Widget brand of widgets, for example, go to Google and type: 'blue widget coupons' or 'blue widget coupon codes'. You'll be surprised at how many there are!

Double Dipping

Most ecommerce systems these days are smart enough to allow stores to make coupons not applicable with any other offers. But the employee behind this million dollar ecommerce system doesn't always have his coffee in the morning and you can often find online stores that allow multiple coupons to the point of practically getting something for free: Free shipping + 25% off + $10 off + Get one free = A heck of a deal! Do a Google search for "you can use multiple coupons" and see if you can find any of your favorite stores.

Compare Prices

There are plenty of websites out there that will check databases from thousands of online stores and return the result that has the cheapest price for the product you asked for. You might already know some of them, such as: amazon.com, pricegrabber.com, bizrate.com, and Nextag.com.

Compare Brands

Less common than the price comparison site, but equally as useful, is the brand comparison. Before you try to find where to buy, you need to know what to buy. That's where sites like http://www.comparethebrands.com come in. They take two brands (i.e. Treo VS Blackberry Smart-phones) and compare features, price, consumer opinion from other review websites, and come up with an unbiased suggestion as to which brand is the best buy, thus saving you money both short-term and in the long run with a higher quality product.

Join Newsletters and Feeds

Get a free Hotmail or Gmail account, and use it only to subscribe to your favorite stores' newsletters. Before long you will have a library of emails from which to select coupon codes, limited time offers and deep, deep discounts on overstocked items. I often see the price being offered in the email to the newsletter group can be as much as half of that listed on the website for everyone else to see. Feeds are slowly taking over instead of newsletters, and have the added benefit of being more anonymous. You can sign up for Compare The Brand's 10 Most Recent ever-flowing feed of product reviews just by copying and pasting the URL into bloglines or Google feed reader. You can even get a widget and put it on your desktop.

Sell Yourself and Double the Winnings

Affiliate programs gave birth to this type of service and utility in the ecommerce industry by allowing regular Joe's to place a link on their own website, or in an email, and get a percent of the sale every time someone went from their link to the merchants' site and purchased something. What those new to the affiliate marketing industry do not know is that most merchants have no clause in the affiliate agreement about using the discounts to buy for yourself. Just join all the programs you can, keep a page somewhere online that you can put all of the links on, and next time you want to buy something just go through your own link. Not only will you save by using the coupon code, but you get a percent of the sale. How much cash back does Visa give - 0.02%? Hop on over to Commission Junction, Shareasale or Linkshare to get up to 25% back every time!

Remember: Compare the brands, join the newsletters, compare prices and double dip those coupons while selling yourself on a Great Deal! You'll be the best customer you've ever had. I promise. <bio>Everett Sizemore is an online copywriter for websites like http://www.comparethebrands.com and has worked with affiliate programs, search engine optimization and online marketing for five years. </bio>
