Whether you have been studying the Bible for years or if you have just read it for the first time there is always more that can be learned and understood. For Christians, the Bible is the ultimate source of truth and the guidebook for living. Therefore, it is important that each Christian understand the Bible the best that he or she can. A Bible commentary can be one of the best tools for getting the most out of Scripture.

Do you remember using Cliff's Notes to make it through a literature class during school? Basically, a Bible commentary is like a Cliff's Notes for the Bible. It gives explanation to difficult passages and gives in depth description about things like characters, setting, and theme. A Bible commentary is a great supplement to your daily Bible reading. Consider reading a passage of Scripture and then reading what your Bible commentary has to say about that same passage. You will be amazed at the depth and insight your Bible commentary gives.

Having a good Bible commentary or two is a great resource for people who are studying the Bible for classes or for those who are preparing to lead studies or discussions on the Bible. Almost like having your own Bible teacher, a great Bible commentary is one of the best tools you will ever have. It is great because unlike a teacher, your Bible commentary can be with you all the time.

If you are thinking of purchasing a Bible commentary for the first time, check with your pastor or with other friends for their recommendations about which Bible commentary might be the best for you. Every Bible commentary is written from a different theological perspective, so be sure that you buy a Bible commentary that matches with the beliefs of you and your local church. You may even be able to borrow a Bible commentary or two from a friend so that you can try them out and compare them before making a purchase of your own.

You can get a Bible commentary at most local bookstores, Christian bookstores, or online. If you live in a town with a college or university, you can check out their bookstore as well. Whatever it takes to get your hands on a Bible commentary, it is worth it. Your reading and understanding of Scripture will never be the same. You will grow deeper in your knowledge of the ways of God with each reading of Scripture and with each time you use your Bible commentary. Just be sure not to stop reading your Bible just because you have a Bible commentary. Even the best Bible commentary cannot replace the treasure of the Bible itself. <bio>Martin Stoleman is an expert in using Bible tools such as the Bible commentary to make stuyding the Bible easier and more effective.
As a seminary student, I am always looking for more information about the Bible. As I study to become a pastor for other people, it is extremely important that I learn all I can about the Bible and that I utilize all of the resources that are available to me. I had never heard of a Bible search until recently, but doing them has radically changed my ability to learn and process information about the Bible.

What I love about studying the Bible is that I am always curious and hungry to learn more. I am a firm believer that people should spend their lives doing things of value that they deeply enjoy. So when the change came for me to further my education with seminary I jumped at it. Just a few months into my classes, the Bible search tools that I have been taught have by far been the most valuable source of new knowledge that I have discovered.

Are you curious to learn more about the Bible? Perhaps you are taking a Bible class or are just wanting to learn for your own benefit. It doesn't matter why you want to know more, it simply matters that you can know more by doing a Bible search or two on the information you are seeking. I love that a Bible search can both satisfy my curiousity and yet leave me desiring more knowledge. What a great thing!

A Bible search can happen in many ways. There are many great tools to be used, but by far some of the best can be found in libraries, at bookshops, or even on the internet. Basically, a Bible search is done whenever a learner uses tools to try to gain more knowledge about a particular passage or theme in Scripture. The Bible search doesn't have to be official, it simply has to be helpful in teaching you more about the Bible.

If you are curious about learning more about a Bible search tool or two, find someone to talk with. This may mean talking with a pastor or setting up a time to meet with a Bible professor at a local college. Do whatever you can to be proactive about doing a Bible search to do more. You will be so glad that you did and the knowledge you learn will be the most helpful thing in the world for you and your future. <bio>Hallidae Thomason is a seminary student and a published author.
If you are serious about studying the Bible and about learning more about Scripture, then there is no doubt in my mind that you need to invest into some Bible software. Why? Because Bible software is the newest and best way to learn all there is to know about a variety of things surrounding the Bible.

Just like any other work of literature, the Bible is hard to understand just by reading it if you do not have the appropriate knowledge of the background and the culture in which it was written. You will never get the fullness out of the Bible if you just read it devotionally and never dig in for the deeper meanings. Bible software is the perfect thing to supplement personal Bible reading in order to get the most out of study.

If you're looking for great Bible software, then it is important to first have an idea of your goals and purposes for getting the software. There is a wide variety of software available, so be sure that you know your goals and that you find Bible software that will accomplish what you want out of your study. For example, wanting to understand the book of Psalms is a little different than wanting to become fluent in Ancient Greek.

Another important way to learn about Bible software is to borrow software from family, friends, pastors or teachers that might have Bible software that interests you. It is always a good idea to try software programs before you buy them. So gather as many kinds as you can and spend a little time getting familiar. You might simply find that one Bible software program suits you and your needs the best.

Look for Bible software in a variety of locations. Check out a local Christian bookstore or any bookstore in your area to get some ideas of your options and of the price ranges. Or look online and see what is available that way. It is possible to get great deals on Bible software, you just need to know where to look. So take your time, do some research, and then look for package deals or ways to make buying Bible software more reasonable. There is no doubt that purchasing Bible software is valuable, but you still need to be wise with your purchases.

I have been using and enjoying Bible software for the past few years and I strongly suggest it to anyone that is serious about learning more about Scripture. <bio>Julee Mitchelsin authors commentaries on Scripture and hence has used Bible software extensively for her work.
Who would want to listen to preachers drone on about the meaning of each and every symbol found in the Bible? Who is still interested in listening to the same old Bible stories of Noah, or of Moses? People have heard, even watched these stories often enough to memorize them. With the waning interest in Biblical activities, a new development in the way Bibles are taught is necessary, if not called for. And the online Bible steps up to the challenge.

An online Bible usually features complete Bible text with searchable books, verses, and even chapter numbers. Biblical terms can also be searched from a specific Bible verse to a cross-reference to the other books and stories in the Bible. The pages of an online Bible are usually printable or e-mail ready. A more advanced online Bible website may have an interactive page wherein users can talk and share reflections in a live chat application. An additional feature usually found in kiddie online Bibles is a short cartoon strip or video clip of famous Bible stories.

Now, that you have a more or less good idea what online Bibles are, let's talk about the advantages of using it. First, it's online, meaning it is easily accessible even if you're in the office for a few minutes of praying or reflection. There is no need to carry your old and dog-eared Bible around. Second, there is no need to flip and squint at chapter or verse numbers to look for a particular verse. The online Bible is searchable, you only need to type in a keyword and the Bible will search entries with your specific keywords. Third, dressing up won't be necessary to conduct Bible studies. Just e-mail your friends and Bible study buddies and set up a Bible study online through live chat. Who knows? Maybe other people will join you too. It also cut costs since you won't have to spend for gas, fare, or food.

However, these advantages of the online Bible take away the feeling and spirituality of being part of physical community. So why not take an online Bible for an interesting family time. Since the Bible is in a medium your kids are interested in, you'll have minimal or no trouble at all to ask them to browse it with you. They might even enjoy its features very much that they'll make it a daily habit. Another thing you can do to improve the communal feeling is to teach other people how it works. Either way, you get the benefits of having an online Bible and still share a spiritual bond with other people. <bio>For more information on Online Bible, please visit http://www.confessionism.com </bio>

Many people have studied the Bible. It is considered one of the most ancient and respected books on earth. The Bible is used by Christians of many denominations. There are several different versions of the Bible, with one of the most popular being the King James Version of the Bible.

You can study the entire Bible in a year by dedicating some free evening or morning time to this project. Most people read the Bible as it is presented chronologically. For those new to Bible study, getting a Bible study workbook can be quite useful as this will suggest passages of the Bible you may wish to reflect on and ways to organize your study. Some who have attended church for a long time or those who have studied the Bible in the past may be more confident with self-study methods. By simply reading a page or two of the Bible each night, you will work your way through the Bible most often in a calendar year.

Some that decide to study the Bible may be surprised to learn that an excellent tool to add to your study methods is by actually writing in your own Bible. Adding your own personal notes about sermons, passages that have inspired you or even meditations on Bible quotes can only deepen your learning experience. The Bible is a book that you can study again and again. Many that take up Bible study choose to study it year after year, learning something new about passages they have re-read for years as their knowledge and understanding increases.

Taking a Bible study class can also be quite useful. Your church or town may offer a Bible study class. Sometimes if your church does not offer one, it can be an excellent idea to volunteer to start one. Usually you are not the only one in your church congregation studying the Bible. Other church members would likely welcome the company of a group to study the Bible. Your priest or minister could lead the group, or you could be a self-led group run by church volunteers. Bible study classes are a great way to encourage learners at different rates as everyone has something valuable to offer.

Each church member comes to the Bible with different personal experiences and a unique perspective. Some may have studied the Bible for years and others may be very new to this experience. The richness of this type of group can be a valuable experience for everyone. Even those who have studied for years can learn something from the fresh viewpoint of someone who is new to Bible study.

No matter your personal beliefs or perspective, Bible study will offer you a world of its very own. This ancient book has been studied by scholars, priests and people from all walks of life. There are passages in the Bible that can be adapted to modern day concerns of every kind: from environmental concerns, adultery, cheating on your taxes, pre-teen dating, premarital intercourse and drug addiction. The Bible offers great wisdom and a unique perspective on the world unlike any other: it is the word of God.<bio>If you want to meet Christians who share the same interest as you please visit our Christian social networking community.</bio>

I decided to write this Credit Secrets Bible review after having a chance to see what the ebook is all about.
What does it mean when someone says "Bible times"? If you think about it, the Bible in its entirety spans thousands of years. Costumes change almost as quickly as the times that changed and evolved. The various costumes for Bible times are different depending on the story. The manner of dress during Moses' time is different than the manner of dress during Christ's birth.

There are different reasons why you'd need costumes for Bible times. For one, it is a good learning tool to visually act out Bible stories for children who are in Sunday school. It is also great for adults. Acting out scenes from the Bible on the stage is a great way to make the stories memorable.

A popular time for costumes for Bible times is Christmas. The traditional Christmas Pageant is as much a part of the season for regular church goers as Santa and other traditional folk figures. If you are putting on a Christmas pageant of your own, it is essential to end up with the best and most realistic costumes.

So, where can you get costumes for Bible times? Well, some churches use the same costumes from year to year. After the initial purchase, all that's needed is to find new actors and actresses to wear them. You can also make them, rent them, or buy them. However, in terms of traditional Christmas pageant costumes goes, these are relatively easy to make if you have the skills and patterns are fairly common.

Other Bible stories that are fun reenacted include Noah's flood, the initial Garden of Eden scenes, Jesus' crucifixion, and the story of Joseph and his brothers. Acting out Bible scenes doesn't need to be reserved for Christ's birth. There are other important stories, and each has its own important lesson.

Though costumes for Bible times are traditionally worn during church events, it is possible to dress up as different religious figures for costume parties. For a Christian, this is a good way to get a dialog going about their beliefs. Christians are always looking for ways to share what they believe in with others. <bio>Phil Sikes offers helpful costume tips and advice, including ideas for adult, kids and pet costume, on the Get In Costume website.
Psst -- there's a secret to learning the Bible. It's a secret any good Bible teacher, preacher, and pastor knows. Since the Bible is God's mind revealed to man, this secret is one that allows you to know God on a personal level. Before I expose this secret, let me tell you some things that have nothing to do with learning the Bible.

Things that have nothing to do with learning the Bible:

1. Learning the Bible doesn't have anything to do with learning Greek or Hebrew. You do not have to spend time in the original languages of Scripture to learn what the Bible teaches. In fact, someone who tries to learn Greek or Hebrew just to find golden nuggets in God's word that they think are missing in English is more likely to get tripped up, confused, and sent down rabbit trails than someone who doesn't bother. And why is that? It's simple: It takes a lot of time to learn a language as well as you already know English. You're better off reading the language you understand rather than trying to learn a language for the sake of Bible study.

2. Learning the Bible doesn't have anything to do with going to school. I know this might ruffle some feathers, but this is really quite simple. God's word is not hidden away in the crypts of academia and scholarship. God's word is for everyone. I know of no passage that makes this more clear than Deuteronomy 30:11-14: "For this commandment which I command thee this day, it is not hidden from thee, neither is it far off. It is not in heaven, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it? Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it? But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it."

3. Learning the Bible doesn't mean understanding everything the first time you read it. When you come across a problem verse, it's okay not to "get it" the first time.

4. Learning the Bible doesn't mean trusting a man to tell you what it means. This doesn't mean you shouldn't seek help; quite the contrary. But your ultimate trust must be in God, not in men, for your understanding of Scripture. Proverbs 29:25 states: "The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe." If your understanding of a verse is based on your trust of what someone else has told you, you are not in a safe place.

So, the first secret to learning the Bible is...

Study.

That's right, this big secret is study.

1st Timothy 2:15 states: "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." See that key word there? Study. (As a side note, not only does this this verse tell us to study, it tells us how. But I'll leave the how for another article.)

All the systems and methods someone can teach you are irrelevant next to this simple truth: learning what the Bible says takes study. The old Webster dictionary, published in 1828, says study is "a setting of the mind or thoughts upon a subject; hence, application of mind of books, to arts or science, or to any subject, for the purpose of learning what is not before known... To endeavor diligently."

A lot of us probably don't like the idea of study, since we often associate it with hard work and mind numbing rote, though true study is far more than just memorization. Even the writer of Ecclesiastes said (12:12): "much study is a weariness of the flesh." And that's a good thing. As anyone who takes time to work out at the gym knows, whipping your body into shape is weariness! So to it can be with study.

In the end, the secret is that there is no secret to learning the Bible. Deuteronomy 29:29: "The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law." And God's will is revealed to you in that he wants you to study, as study shows your approval to God, and it is the study of the word of truth (Scripture) that gives us understanding of the mind of God. <bio>Brandon Staggs is a student of the Bible, a computer programmer, and the author of SwordSearcher Bible Study Software, a program he designed to combine his enjoyment of computers and love of the Bible.
Grant Jeffrey's book, The Signature of God, sets out to prove that the Bible is the inspired word of God, passed down through the generations by the writings of the Old and New Testament prophets. The majority of open-minded readers will agree that he succeeds in his mission.

The Signature of God attempts to prove the Bible as God's word by building a foundation of arguments based on historical documents, archeological discoveries, scientific knowledge, fulfillment of Bible prophecy, and other such evidences. Those who are not Christian or Jewish (and many of those who are) will find a tremendous amount of information they either didn't know or never before viewed in the way Jeffrey presents. The author explores the advanced medical knowledge set down in the Torah, where God instructs the Jewish people to undertake certain precautions in dealing with sick people, dead animals, and other sources of infectious disease. Long before modern science uncovered deadly bacteria and viruses, God gave the Jewish nation a means by which to avoid them.

The book also delves into the Bible codes, without citing many of the speculative and statistically insignificant ones espoused by Bible Code author Michael Drosnin. Recently, many academic institutions have been exploring these "codes", equidistant letter sequences in the text of the Old Testament books that make up the Torah. Jeffrey points out many of these codes, such as the name "Yeshua" (translated "Jesus") appear a statistically significant number of times within the Old Testament. In addition, Jeffrey devotes a chapter to the subject of mathematics and the Bible, a subject rarely touched on in modern literature. He catalogues the work of Ivan Panin, a Harvard mathematician who uncovered a series of alphanumeric codes in the Bible (over 30 separate codes involving the number 7 alone in the first sentence of the Bible).

Jeffrey quite adeptly weaves his arguments together into a cohesive and formidable argument on behalf of divine authorship of the Bible, and this is a book both believers and non-believers in God will enjoy perusing. Highly recommended, this is one of the best modern books (written in layman's terms) on the source and history of the Bible. <bio>To learn more about Armageddon and the end times, please visit http://BrittGillette.com, a Christian perspective on the last days and emerging technology. http://brittgillette.com/WordPress/ </bio>

Last year, press releases from the religious and scholastic communities had been ripe with news of digitizing and making Codex Sinaiticus an online bible. To the uninitiated, this is considered the oldest known Bible, dating back 17 centuries ago. Published during the rift between the East and West Roman Empire, the Bible was said to have been commissioned by Emperor Constantine when he adopted Christianity. It also included the oldest version of the New Testament. The year 2005 had been the start of an ambitious project, but no new publicity had been announced regarding the manuscript's online bible version.

The online bible version was conceptualized with four phases: conservation, digitization, transcription, and academic commentary. The online Codex project aimed to reach a wider, and even worldwide audience through the internet. Tools developed for the manuscript's internet launch include a CD Rom, free website, and digital facsimile. The project is intended to be the standard of collaborative manuscript projects. However, the team behind the Codex project was reportedly having troubles with the first phase of the project and is not quite done yet. Conservation is essential to protect the Codex from damage during the project. Since the manuscript is old and very fragile, the conservation team faced the difficulty of restoring the manuscript to readable and presentable texts. Scot McKendrick, British Library's Medieval and Earlier Manuscripts Department chair, commented that the manuscript is very distinct from other old manuscripts. Given the size of each parchment (37 cm) and the text layering (four columns of Greek texts), it is a considerable feat to finish the conservation of all 400 pages in a short time.

Probably eyeing a 2010 or 2011 launch date, the Codex still have to undergo a digitization process. This involves taking digital images of the texts and the whole manuscript. Transcription is an essential part of the process since not everyone can understand Greek symbols. Scholars contribute commentaries and discussion as an added feature of the online bible. The process necessitates long hours of study from language and the principles from the Codex, to its similarities and differences from the present Bible. The religious and academic block had expressed their interest and excitement about the manuscript's online release. Due to its sensitive nature, only four scholars -- apart from those involve in the online bible project -- have seen the document up close. McKendrick estimated the whole Codex project to be over in about four years. Incidentally named after Mt. Sinai where Moses received the Ten Commandments, Codex Sinaiticus studies are now considered as the peak of religious learning. <bio>For more valuable information on Online Bible, please visit http://www.confessionism.com </bio>

Have you ever dreamed of a place of total protection, provision and fulfillment? Well if you have I have wonderful news for you. There is a place that has everything that you can imagine concerning your life. Total fulfillment, total provision and total protection; and let me say this also, I am not just talking about you only, but your family and children also! This place that I am talking about is called the secret place.

There are many opinions what the secret place is, some say it is prayer, some say it is worship, and there are those who say it is going to church. But what does the Bible say the secret place is? The Bible always answers itself; you don't need some highly educated Theologian to tell you what the Bible says for your life. Most times education just gets in the way of God's plans. It is true that you can become too educated for God to use you; the disciples where unlearned and uneducated (Acts 4:13) and still God shook the world through them.

The Bible declares in Psalms 91:1 "He that dwells in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty." Here we see that there is a place called the secret place, but where is this secret place that the Bible teaches? Before we talk about, where the secret place is; let's talk about the results of finding the secret place. Notice that Psalms states "He that dwells" it is a chose that you and I must make. Once we find this secret place then we must choose to stay in this secret place. When you make the decision to stay in the secret place then and only then will you experience the abundant Christian life that is taught through out the Bible.

Never again will you have to worry about your children's safety; never again will you have to worry about your financial situation or getting through a life's battle which we all face in life. The secret place is a supernatural place, a place that the world will never know or understand until they come into the kingdom.

Let's talk about where this wonderful place is; a place of security and peace, a place where joy unspeakable can be found. Where is this place? Why haven't I heard much teaching on this place? First, let me say the secret place is place of surrender, there is a price for living in the secret place but the price is well worth it. In Palms 31:20 the Bible declares "thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence". This scripture alone reveals the secret place; a place unseen, a place that must be experienced because words cannot describe. Dear people of God the secret place is the presence of Jesus Christ; a place of separation from the world and a time of one on one with the Son-of-God. Once you experience His wonderful presence you will know the power of being in His arms.

This is the place where miracles happen, yes, even in your own time of prayer. You don't need someone to lay hands on you every time you want to experience the touch of the Lord on your life. Find a place, a quiet place and surrender to Him in a fresh way today, experience this wonderful place called the secret place and you will enjoy the abundant Christian life because you are putting Him first.<bio>Jason Powers a Christian Writer in the state of Florida.
It was a miracle! How many times have you heard someone say that? Probably hundreds of times. But they don't really mean that it was a miracle -- what they really mean is that the event they witnessed was amazing, improbable, or inexplicable.

But are there real miracles? Have there been times that the natural laws of the universe, such as gravity, or even death, have been stopped, changed, or reversed? To find the answer to this question, we must turn to the Bible.

Fact #1: Jesus performed many miracles

In the four gospels, we find many instances were Jesus performed miracles, such as "Then they brought him a demon-possessed man who was blind and mute, and Jesus healed him, so that he could both talk and see." (Matthew 12:22) Perhaps one of the most famous of Jesus' miracles was the raising of Lazarus from the dead, which we read about in John 11: "Jesus found that Lazarus had already been in the tomb for four days...Jesus called in a loud voice, "Lazarus, come out!" 44The dead man came out."

Fact #2: Jesus performed these miracles to prove that he was God

In the book of Acts, Peter says that "Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know."

Fact #3: Jesus gave authority to his disciples to perform miracles

In Matthew 10:1, we're told that Jesus "called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out evil[a] spirits and to heal every disease and sickness."

Fact #4: God has given authority to his servants at various times to perform miracles

The Bible has many stories of miracles performed by God's servants -- Moses, Elijah, Elisha, and others. The question is -- does God still empower his followers to work miracles in his name? That is a tough question. The answer is beyond the scope of this article, but I hope that you will think and study the Bible to find the answer! <bio>Learn more about miracles: http://www.oldandsold.com/articles11/miracles-1.shtml </bio>

We're told by Jesus to go out into the whole world and tell others about the Good News? But just how can we do that?

Here's my top ten suggestions on how to share Christ with a nonbeliever.

1. Look for common interests. WIth most people, it does little good to hit people over the head with a Bible. Instead, talk about common interests, problems, experiences. In other words, build a relationship.

2. Listen more than you talk for the first few minutes. Ask questions. How did that make you feel? What did you think about then? Then what? Open -ended questions are always the best.

3. Empathize. Sympathize. Let your eyes and body language convey to the person that you are listening and understand. Don't pass judgment. Don't ever say andquot;I know just how you feel.andquot; you don't.

4. Ask questions that let you go for Biblical direction. andquot;Have you read what the Bible says about this?andquot; Or andquot; Can we see what the Bible says about this?andquot; Always present the Bible as an authoritative resource. Try some humor. You know the acronym for BIBLE:

Basic...Instructions...Before...Leaving...Earth.

5. Share your story. Tell about your life BC - Before Christ. And your life AC - After Christ. Learn to be able to give your personal testimony in three minutes or left.

6. Don't be afraid to say you don;t know the answer to a particular question or problem. Offer to check it out and promise to get back with an answer or scriptural reference. And do so.

7. Remember your witness. Often, before a friend or coworker seeks spiritual counsel, they've been watching you for weeks. If you stress out or lose your temper, apologize. No one expects you to be perfect. It's how you handle difficulties that often open the door for a conversation.

8. Seek out open doors for a continuing dialogue. Don't try to deal with every issue in one meeting.Take time to discuss one or two in depth. Try to arrange follow up discussion times.

9. Invite them to church. There they can find true spiritual community. Offer to pick them p and drive them and treat them to lunch afterwards.

10. Practice lifestyle evangelism. Have a Bible always handy. Wear Christian T-shirts or jewelry where appropriate. Many a spiritual conversation has started because of a T-shirt. <bio>Mike Wendland - Online Christian Shopper http://www.onlinechristianshopper.com Mike is a pastor from a large Bibe-believing church in the Midwest who founded the Online Christian Shopper Web ste to make it easy for Christians to practice lifestyle evangelism.
All throughout the Old Testament are various prophecies detailing the coming of the Messiah. The biblical text are numerous and telling of the life of the Lord. Fast forward through time centuries later and you will come to the birth of Jesus Christ. Many have tried unsuccessfully to try and discredit not only Jesus as being the Son Of God but also his very existence. By using the scriptures themselves in addition to archeology and other historical records aside of the bible, it is easy to disprove the doubters. Such scriptures as 1 Timothy Chapter 3 Verse 16 clearly state this:

Without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

With the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ in around 33 A.D., Christianity was then born. The exact location of when followers of Jesus Christ started calling themselves Christians is recorded in the book of Acts Chapter 11 Verse 26:

And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.

One future prophecy mentioned in the book of Matthew is that the Gospel of Jesus Christ would be preached in the whole world, to all nations and then the end would come. With all of the satellite technology that available, we are very close to all nations hearing the Gospel. This belief in Jesus Christ has withstood the test of time and its influence is everywhere.

Many people often assume that other religions with a form of Christianity are indeed Christian. This is completely false. Other religions such as Seventh Day Adventist, Roman Catholics, Mormons and Jehovah Witness to name a few, are not the same as biblically based Christianity. Despite what the Pope of Rome has said about churches outside of the Roman Catholic system not being church's in its proper sense. Having knowledge of what the bible actually says is the best way to determine which are Christian and which ones are not.

The only problem for those outside of what the bible says and teaches is that the bible itself is the measuring stick of the faith. So if those religions aren't using the bible as a gauge of belief, then they must be using a man made system. You have to understand that for a Christian, the bible is the THE word of God. Several verses exemplify this but none quite as plain as 2 Timothy Chapter 3 Verse 16 and 17:

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

When you view the life of a Christian from the standpoint of biblical doctrine, there shouldn't be any confusion as to the way believers are to live. Sadly after nearly two millennium of Christianity underway, much of the world is still completely ignorant as to what Christians adhere to. The only way to know for sure is studying the bible and prayer.<bio>If you want to meet Christians who share the same interest as you please visit our Christian social networking community.</bio>

It is difficult to reason with fundamentalists. In fact, it is virtually impossible. What else might one expect? The very nature of fundamentalism is hardly conducive to the give and take involved in reasoning. If you attempt to have a discussion, you will soon find that it turns into a one way diatribe. Your fundamentalist friend will quickly become one-pointed and narrowly focused. You will leave the conversation feeling as if you have been talking to someone who can't see the forest for the trees.

And, of course they can't. What our fundamentalist friend has to offer to the conversation is usually a collection of tried and true (for them, anyway) cliches. A good example of this appeared on the local news in the town where I live not long ago. A prominent fundamentalist televangelist was visiting our small city. Since his career had always been built upon confrontation, the local television news did an interview - mostly for shock value - that ran on the evening news. They asked him if his position on gay rights and gay marriage or civil unions had changed any over the years. He replied that "God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve." It's a catchy phrase. I noted to myself, however, that he was saying that phrase thirty years ago. I wondered, had his thinking on the matter progressed no further than this point? Had he nothing new to say?

Later, NPR ran a program featuring a controversial fundamentalist preacher who had recently made a great deal of money writing (with help) a fiction series about the "last days," "the rapture," and "the second coming." It became apparent that this minister believed there was only one way to view spiritual questions. It happened to be his way. The interviewer asked, "Now, Reverend, do you really think that only people who believe like you are going to heaven?" The preacher replied that it wasn't he that said such things. No, it was God. God said that you had to see things his way. The Bible said it.

Of course. one might always try to argue the Bible with fundamentalists. I have. Once, a fundamentalist missionary asked me if I believed the Bible was "the inspired, inerrant, word of God." I replied that I did indeed believe the Bible contained the word of God. "Contains? Contains? The Bible doesn't contain the word of God, it IS the inspired, inerrant word of God," he railed. His conclusion was that I certainly wasn't a real Christian. I certainly didn't deserve the title of minister, and that I was deceiving my flock. Unless I said it like he did, it wouldn't do.

When I was in seminary, I met a fellow student in the bookstore one day. He really didn't like all of the questioning of the "literal word of God" by students in our Biblical studies class (mainly me, I would guess). I wondered what he meant. He explained that the Bible was true, and that was that. Not really, I countered. Where is the proof that the Bible was absolutely true in all that it affirmed? This was the clincher from his point of view, "We know the Bible is true because it says it's true." I asked, "How can we be sure the Bible is true when it says it true, if what it says might not exactly be the truth?" Answer: "Because it says so."

And so will go conversations concerning politics, morals, religion, or whatever it may be. The fundamentalist is caught up in a web of circular thinking and well worn cliches. There is no getting around it. Trying to reason with fundamentalists, you quickly discover a disdain for reason. Over four decades ago, the great fundamentalist guru-philosopher, Francis Schaeffer, wrote his Summa Theologica on the matter. It was a little work entitled Escape from Reason. The title tells it all.

You cannot really reason with a fundamentalist, or at least not without great difficulty, because fundamentalism is an escape from reason. It is hard to work on reasoning when one party is all about escaping it.<bio>James C. Alexander, Ph.D. is an education professor at a church related college and a bi-vocational minister who publishes regularly in the areas of education and religion.
Counseling Practices for Christian Debt Relief

The term Christian debt relief can be misleading simply because it warrants debt relief for Christians only. Christian debt relief practices are actually based on age old Biblical connotations and hence, are all in good faith having the best interests of the customer in mind, irrespective of religion. Here are some of the common counseling practices used in Christian debt relief.

The debt in relation to Bible

The Bible says that one person cannot be serving two masters -- God as well as money. Since serving God is paramount, Christian debt relief stresses on getting rid of all existing debts. The Christian debt relief concept emphasizes on taking up additional work. Thus, instead of a 4 or 5 day working week, one could work an additional day to earn more revenues to pay off debts. Additional skills can also enhance the chances of getting a promotion at work. This can lead to a better remuneration, thereby, helping to clear debts faster. The Christian debt relief also lays stress on the facts of the Bible wherein one needs to say no to things that are unnecessary. Therefore, it implies separating the needs from luxuries and buying only the essentials. That could mean cutting down on lavish dinners, buying fewer clothes and getting frugal. These are the main tenets of a Christian debt relief program.

Consolidation services as per the Bible

As per the Bible, debt is perceived to be slavery, and by all means, every Christian debt relief program focuses on helping the person get out of liabilities. That means, even when it comes to selecting a debt consolidation program, one must be judicious in their choices. While most consolidation programs offer a lower rate of interest, many of them have a hidden catch to them. The moment you default on payment or make a late payment, the rate goes back to default. So, all those balance transfer schemes may just prove to be costlier for you. As per Christian debt relief counseling practices, you need to read the fine print and then figure out if the consolidation program is really beneficial to you or not.

Managing your debts as per the Bible

The Bible teaches us to manage our spending patterns in an optimal manner so that when an emergency occurs we have sufficient money at hand. As per Christian debt relief programs, even investment in a fund management company may not be worth it at all. The way most fund management companies work is that they charge a fee to manage your finances and debts and make payments towards your bills. They basically end up having complete control on your hard earned money. You will be given a nominal amount to spend from. However, as per Christian debt relief counseling practices this is another form of slavery or dependency. You are entrusting your money into the hands of another organization. You can never be sure if your money is really in the right hands or not. Hence, the best Christian debt relief programs will advise you to take charge of your own debts and finances and manage them yourself.<bio>Learn the techniques of Christian Debt Relief based no only on Biblical principles, but on sound financial principles as well.
The principles and reasons for a Christian homeschool is influenced by the child's training based from the Bible, wherein the education of the child should be left in the parents' hands.

As seen in all Christian homeschools, parents teach the word of the Lord, to prepare their children for appropriate Christian wisdom, direction and values essential in their everyday life as well as when they reach adulthood. This aspect of teaching is not found in curriculums of the public schools.

Christian homeschools are distinct for each family.
