When you are paying for something and especially for something for your vehicle you want to know it is worth the amount you pay. There are tons and tons of auto body shops all over the place, however it is always hard to know which one to go to and trust. It is hard now a day to find a qualified and trustworthy repair shop for your vehicle. One of the best ways to see if an auto body repair shop or any other type of business is legitimate is if they are part of the Better Business Bureau. So, is your auto body shop a member of the Better Business Bureau?

If you are still trying to figure out what the Better Business Bureau is that is ok. The Better Business Bureau is national member organization that uses codes of ethics, news alerts, databases, and other programs to maintain a high level of trust between businesses and the public. Because BBB accredited businesses must qualify for accredited business status by adhering to certain standards, a business with a bad report will be disqualified for accredited business status. However, this doesn't mean that a business that is not an accredited business has a bad report or would not qualify for accredited business status. The business has to reach out to the Better Business Bureau to ask for their support. The Better Business Bureau is neutral it does not act on behalf of the business or the consumer. It is really just a way for business to keep in good standing for the public to see and for consumers to view accreditation before conducting business with a business. Through the support of their accredited businesses, BBBs work for an ethical marketplace by maintaining standards for truthful advertising, investigating and exposing fraud against consumers and businesses and providing information to consumers before they purchase products and services, however they will also help settle disputes but remain neutral through the process. If the business does not settle the consumer complaint they can lose the backing of the Better Business Bureau. So, you can see why you would want you auto body shop to have accreditation with a Better Business Bureau.

Since your vehicle auto body repairs can be costly and time consuming you should make sure you choose the repair shop wisely. Check to see if they have accreditation with the Better Business Bureau, this will show you that they deal fairly and honestly with their customers. If they are a member of the Better Business Bureau you can go to the Better Business Bureau website and look them up. This way you can find out if they are currently a member and for how long. You can also find out company information like the owner, services offered and type of business it is. You can also see if there were any complaints made against the business and if they were resolved. Every business will get complaints here and there; you want to make sure that your auto body shop resolved the complaints.

So, choose an auto body shop that is a member of the Better Business Bureau!<bio>If your car is in need of auto reconditioning start looking for a qualified professional to handle your concerns. Look for an auto body professional to take care of your ride from paint touch up to fixing the major auto body repairs.</bio>

There are many concerns when it comes to having our vehicles repaired, and especially with having the auto body repaired. You always want to your car to be finished looking great. However you don't want to pay a ton of money, especially in our economy. So you need to do what you can to prevent your vehicle from getting a bad repair completed. Unfortunately that is sometime unavoidable. So, what can you do if you receive a bad or unacceptable repair job on your vehicle?

If you feel that the repair that you had completed on your vehicle is not satisfactory you can do something. You should first talk to the manager of the shop or the shop owner. Calmly explain your problem to them and let them know exactly what is not right. Usually the shop owner or manager will be willing to fix the problem. Make sure that you tell them right away. It won't go over very well if you come back a week later to address a concern. Let them know what you feel is wrong and what needs to be fixed. In most cases you will get the problem handled. Auto body shops rely heavily on word of mouth, so they will not want any bad words to be said.

If that does not work and the manager will not help you, you should then find out if there is anyone above that manager. If so, you should ask to speak to them directly. You should explain your concerns to them and see if they can then help you.

If that doesn't work you can find out if they are a part of the Better Business Bureau. If so, you can contact the Better Business Bureau and submit a formal complaint. That auto body shop will need to address your situation or they could lose the backing of the Better Business Bureau. Also all complaints are listed on the public site so that others will see it. The Better Business Bureau will not resolve complaints between you and a business they will simply report the information that you provide as public knowledge and require them to try to resolve your complaint or complaints. It would be best that you choose a company that is part of the Better Business Bureau and that you have looked up to establish that they are the kind of auto body shop that you would want to conduct business with.

Make sure that you always do your research when choosing an auto body shop to repair your vehicle. Don't only check the Better Business Bureau. Have them show you the quality of work they produce. Also ask around to see if they have established a good reputation. Check to see if they have been in business for a while to establish credibility. All of these things are good to check out before dropping your vehicle off for auto body repairs. Don't be left with a repair that is just not right!<bio>If your car is in need of auto reconditioning start looking for a qualified professional to handle your concerns. Look for an auto body professional to take care of your ride from auto detailing to fixing the major auto body repairs.</bio>

Another thing to consider is the reputation of the company you are dealing with. This is a tough one to sleuth out, though. If you do a search on google for most any major company that sells products, you'll find a disgruntled customer bashing them, or maybe even claiming that the company is run by the devil himself!

Here are a few ways to get accurate information on the company -- the best way is through the Better business Bureau. The better business bureau processes customer complaints and creates reports on each company based on the complaints received. The Bureau analyzes each complaint, though, and marks invalid complaints and complaints that the company resolved, and/or made a good effort to resolve. So the better business bureau is a good source for accurate information on the business practices of companies.

Another place to get customer feedback on companies is Alexa. They allow customers to write reviews on websites. Keep in mind, you will find a lot of people just bashing other companies on Alexa, so try to be selective in which reviews to place much trust in.

Another way to check out a product is to do "testimonial checks". Most companies will have product testimonials which they use to promote their product. However, many of these are fabricated testimonials. So, just ask to speak with several references. It's harder to fabricate real people!

Just as many companies use testimonials, many use medical references, generally doctors who recommend the product. It's not a bad idea to check and see if the doctors are actually practicing MD's who use and recommend the product, or if they are just employees of the company who are paid to recommend it. Of course, just because they are paid to recommend it doesn't mean it's not a good product, but it will lessen the weight of their recommendation. <bio>Improve your immune system with glyconutrients: http://www.findoptimalhealth.com/improve-immune-system.php </bio>

It is often possible to repair a poor credit history, if you know how. Learning how to work with the credit bureaus is the first step toward improving your credit rating.

If you have recently applied for credit and have been denied, you are legally entitled to a free copy of your credit history. The only time that you should pay for a credit report is when you want to view it instantly online, although you should be aware that the credit bureau may try to tell you otherwise. You should have received a letter notifying you of your credit denial. The bureau that provided the rating in response to your credit application will be indicated on that letter. This is the bureau that you will need to deal with in order to repair your credit rating.

When you request a copy of your credit report from a credit bureau, it is always in your best interest to provide only the legally required personal information. By law, you are only obligated to supply your name, your social security number and your legal address in order to obtain a credit report. You may need to send the credit bureau a copy of your social security card and a document showing your current address. Although you may a be asked to send a copy of your driver's license, it is better to send a copy of a recent bill in order to verify your address. You should be aware that credit bureaus are in the business of collecting and selling information. They also own collection agencies. In the event of credit trouble, you don't want to unwittingly assist them in tracking you down and harassing you.

Once you have received your report, you'll need to review it carefully. If you find any items that you believe to be in error, you will need to send a written request for an investigation to the credit bureau. The bureau is legally required to document anything on your report within 30 days. If they are unable to do so, the item must be removed.

Companies that claim to be able to fix your credit, charging high fees for the service, often work their "magic" by challenging older negative information that the credit bureaus will have difficulty verifying. By learning how the credit bureaus work and about their legal obligations, you can keep your money in your pocket and do your own credit repair quickly and cheaply.<bio>Credit-Repair-Review.com offers free online Credit Bureau and credit repair advice.
Good credit is crucial in today's economy. Good credit allows you to have credit cards, obtain car or home loan, and to take advantage of many other money-related conveniences. It is possible to live without good credit, but having a bad credit rating can affect you negatively for the rest of your life.

You might be surprised to know that only a handful of credit bureaus in North America hold the key to your credit rating, and therefore your financial future. These credit bureaus receive the positive and negative reports issued by your creditors and create your personal credit report and credit score based on the results. If your credit history is poor, it is important to repair your credit so that you don't get turned down for a mortgage or even a department store credit card. In order to do this, you must first learn how to deal effectively with a credit bureau.

Begin by finding out what credit bureau has your file. This information will be on any rejection letters you may have from a declined credit application. Next, you'll need to obtain a copy of your credit history. Remember that you are allowed, by law, to obtain a copy of your credit history if you've been denied credit, though some organizations might imply otherwise. You should only pay for a credit report if you want an instant copy, rather than to have one mailed to you, in which case a bureau will send you one for a fee.

It is important to remember that a credit bureau is in the business of collection and selling information. This means that you should never provide them with any information that you are not required to by law, unless you want them to use it against you. It is legally necessary for you to provide the following to get a copy of your credit report:

1. Name 2. Social Security Number 3. Legal Address

The credit bureau might request copies of your social security card or your driver's license. If they ask for a copy of your driver's license as proof of address, it's best to provide them with a copy of a bill or something else addressed to you instead. You should be careful when providing credit bureaus information, because most own collection agencies and they will use any of the information that you provide to hassle you with the credit and collection issues that you are already trying to fix.

Examine your report closely and note any possible errors. If you have questions about a specific debt, you can mail a written request to the credit bureau that they investigate that particular debt. Legally, the credit bureau is required to document any discrepancies on your credit report, otherwise, if they don't do this in 30 days, the entire item must be removed. Most of the credit repair companies out there will charge you fees to perform this service, but you can do it yourself for free with just a little bit of time and effort.

Learning to deal with credit bureaus will allow you to engage in successful credit repair without paying a credit repair company a high fee. When you educate yourself in what the legal obligations are that credit bureaus entail, in many cases, you can effectively repair your own credit just as quickly as a credit repair company. <bio>For more free credit repair information like this article, please visit: http://www.Free-Credit-Repair-Advice.com </bio>

If you are trying to avoid a bad credit rating, one of the most important preventive steps you can take is to request and analyze your credit report. Credit reports summarize your credit history usually for the last seven years and are usually detailed with information about active credit cards you have, mortgages, and any other loans you have outstanding. Depending on the credit information that the credit bureau receives will determine your credit score

There are three large credit bureaus that compile lending information and calculate a score for each individual. The three credit bureau companies are Experian, Expedia and Trans Union. If you want to improve your credit rating or make sure credit score is accurate, it is important that you request a credit report from either one credit bureau or all three of them each year.

Most states have enacted legislation that enables an individual to request a free credit report each year. Other states may require you to pay a small fee, usually $10 or $15. Once you receive your credit report it is important for you to go over the report to make sure your credit rating is accurate. Most credit reports usually have an information booklet that goes over how to read your credit report and will list example reports for increased understanding. You can then view your credit report and make sure that the information is factual.

>From time to time, there may be discrepancies listed in the credit report. This may be due to inaccurate reporting, identity theft or fraud. If you analyze your report and notice a discrepancy it is important for you to contact the credit bureau immediately as well as the lender that has reported negatively to the bureau.

It is also important to analyze your credit report to determine if any credit cards or loans have been taken out without your knowledge, this usually points to identity theft or fraud. If you are looking to improve your credit rating or would like to protect yourself from theft and fraud, request a credit report annually and analyze it thoroughly. <bio>Connie Barker is the owner of several financial websites including http://www.badcreditloandirect.com/credit-report.html </bio>

Make sure the Shar Pei breeder you are dealing with is listed with a national breeding agency. It would be a good idea to check the information available with local law enforcement and the Better Business Bureau on your Shar Pei breeder. Always check with your vet when searching for a Shar Pei breeder.

When the time has come to get your new Shar Pei dog you will more than likely find yourself looking for a good Shar Pei breeder. Some people say they are a Shar Pei breeder but in reality they are just faking their way through it and have no idea how to properly breed and raise Shar Pei dogs. There are questions you can ask and things you can do to tell if you are dealing with a bad Shar Pei breeder or not and you should always do your research for your own good.

Always ask what national breeding registry the Shar Pei breeder is listed with. A national breeding registry will indicate what breeding standard they use and what kind of quality they look for in their dogs. If a breeder is not listed with a national breeder registry then ask why and also ask what they use for a breeding standard so you can find out how they gauge the quality of the dogs they sell.

Check with local law enforcement about the Shar Pei breeder you are considering just in case they have had any run-ins with the law in the recent past. It is always a good idea to check with law enforcement because you can never tell just by looking at someone if they are dishonest or not. Chances are that if a particular breeder has had a run in with the law then they are probably not a breeder that you want to be doing this very important business with.

Most reputable businesses are listed with the Better Business Bureau and you can do a quick internet search on the Better Business Bureau website to see if the Shar Pei breeder you are considering has ever had any complaints lodged against them regarding their business practices and if those complaints were answered. If you see a lot of business complaints then move on because you are not dealing with a real professional breeder.

As with any other situation regarding your pet your vet can be a great help in weeding out the fake Shar Pei breeder that you may be considering. Your vet can give you guidelines to use in your search and may even be able to offer an opinion or two about the breeders you are considering. Always listen to the advice of your vet, as they are just as concerned with your pet's health and well being as you are.

Finally you should talk to the breeder yourself and get a feel for how they run their business when whether or not they seem to know what they are talking about. It does not take much to realize that someone does not know their business and when you are making an important decision like deciding on a Shar Pei breeder then you need to ask a lot of tough questions. <bio>Melissa Coleman often talks to animal rescue groups, keeping them informed about proper breeding methods.
Many people mistakenly believe that the four major credit bureaus are under the jurisdiction of the federal government. There is no federal credit bureau. The corporations who keep track of the credit files of America's consumers are for-profit companies owned not by the government, but by the stockholders of the company. Companies like this get no funding or help from the government in any way. However, Federal law does govern the actions of the four nationwide consumer credit reporting companies.

Who Are the Credit Reporting Companies?

The three main players are Trans Union, Equifax, and Experian. The fourth bureau is called Innovis, but it lags behind the others in usage, being a fairly new organization. Every local credit bureau in the United States is affiliated with one of these three large companies. It is important for the consumer to understand that it is quite important to request a copy of your credit file from each of the three major bureaus. Why is this? A little known fact is that these national bureaus could each have different information on you in their files. Since the credit reporting business is a competitive one, they do not share information between them on a usual basis.

The Federal law that regulates all credit bureaus in the United States is called the Fair Credit Reporting Act. The main gist of the law is accuracy in recording and record keeping, and the privacy and protection of consumers and their personal credit information. It is the law that you have to be informed if any of the information in your file has been used against you, such as when you are turned down for a job because of poor credit. Usually, this information comes to you in the form of a letter in the mail. If you just want to know what information is in your credit file, all you have to do is ask, and you can get a free report once a year from each major credit bureau.

Once you find out that there is no federal credit bureau, and contact one of the three main credit reporting agencies for a free copy of your file, examine your credit report closely. If you see any inaccuracies at all, it is up to you to contact the agency to have the discrepancy remedied. They have to, by law, investigate the false information by checking out all the evidence surrounding it. They then must get in touch with the information source that provided them with the erroneous information. This source must also review the information, then report back to the credit reporting agency.

The CRA will then send to you via mail a written investigative report, detailing everything that was done to check out this error in your file. You will get another, corrected copy of your file once the error has been corrected. Also, anyone, be it a potential employer or that local department store where you are trying to get a credit card so you can buy a kitty condo for you cats, will be informed by mail that there has been a change to your credit file, with detrimental information removed.

annrichter(at)creditreportguideonline.com <bio>Are you considering bad credit history loans to consolidate your credit card debt?
If you have ever thought of beginning a home business, then you should first make sure that you are good at recognizing work at home scams. If you especially want to start an online business you had better keep your guard up! Certainly not every work at home opportunity is a scam but many of them are. It would be well to consult the Better Business Bureau on the Internet for advice. Ho can you tell which business opportunities are legitimate and which are not?

According to the Better Business Bureau people who are the most vulnerable are often targeted by scammers. This includes students, the disabled, stay-at-home moms and the elderly. All are hopeful that they will be among the fortunate to earn some money from home. However, most people end up spending money up-front than they do with making money with the company that they signed up with. These work-at-home jobs appear in national magazines and newspapers all across the country.

Some of the businesses that were researched by the Better Business Bureau were such things as envelope-stuffing, medical billing, product assembly, mystery shopping, vitamin sales, selling advertising on the Internet, auto-dialing machines and the telemarketing of books, videotapes and seminars.

You must beware of ads that claim you can make a lot of money but only have do put in short hours doing little and with no experience. With the assembly of products at home, you have to pay for your materials and complete the project per the company's instructions. Usually you send the finished product to be checked and they return it to you saying it does not meet their standards. I have had personal experience with a scam such as this. You do nothing but waste time and money! In trying to recognize work at home scams, if you have to pay any fee or deposit then that should send up a red flag to you and you should probably turn tail and run the other way!

Be aware that such schemes are regularly investigated by the U.S. Post Office. You may even run the risk of being investigated or possibly prosecuted if you are found to be involved in one of these scams. Realize that work-at-home scams are not new but now the con artists are becoming more sophisticated and are using computers to peddle their wares. They can relax at their keyboard and reach thousands of people in an instant for free. Remember the old saying: "If an opportunity seems too good to be true then it probably is". You often see ads involving pyramid schemes and chain letters. Again, run the other way!

This article is not meant to discourage you from beginning a home business.
Uninsured drivers are ten times more likely to drink and drive and three times more likely to be convicted of driving without due care and attention. They also cause one accident every six months. In fact one in twenty motorists regularly drive without insurance. It's therefore not perhaps surprising that, one in ten of all motorists have been involved in accidents with uninsured drivers. The question is what to do if you're involved in an accident with one?

At the time of the accident you're unlikely to realise that the other driver is uninsured so you'll have to react in the normal way. Take a note of the other car's make, model and registration number. Also note the other driver's name and address -- but whether he'll give you his correct details is perhaps unlikely! Nevertheless, always record what the other driver says. Unless you have this information you'll have no leg to stand on when it comes to getting some of your money back.

Also take notes about the damage to the other car and the accident scene. Remember to note road markings, road signs, light and weather conditions and whether the other car had its lights on -- in fact as much detail as possible. Then if you're lucky enough to have an independent witness get their full contact details. And if you happen to have a camera in the car, take lots of pictures - and try and get one with the other driver clearly in the picture. The police might like that one!

If your policy is comprehensive, your insurer pay for your car to be repaired but you could lose your no claims discount unless you've paid to protect it. But then there's the issue of your excess payment -- that's the first part of the repair cost you have to pay for. You'll have to pay that unless you're lucky enough to have a policy that waives the excess payment if you're hit by an uninsured driver.

For those of you with third party car insurance, you're in for a hard time. Your insurer won't pay for your repairs and, as the other driver is uninsured, you're not going to get any money off him unless you can trace him and succeed in a court action. Even then there's no guarantee that he'll pay up! Your only guaranteed solution is to make a compensation claim to the Motor Insurers' Bureau - but you'll still have to pay the first £300 of the claim.

The Motor Insurers' Bureau insists that have the other drivers' car registration number and you must first report the accident to the police. Always ask the police for a copy of their accident report as the Bureau's likely to ask to see it. The Bureau's telephone number is 01908 671681 or you can e-mail them on enquiries@mib.org.uk.

At the moment The UK' Law is being amended to crackdown on uninsured drivers. Not before time. Anyone keeping, not just driving, an uninsured vehicle now faces a fixed £100 fine and can also have their car seized and crushed. Currently the average fine for driving without insurance is just £170 and that's hardly a punishment when car insurance costs many times more. Losing the car plus a fine of £100 is much more realistic. Let's hope that the courts fully implement the crushing sanction!

A police spokesman said recently, " Uninsured drivers are often guilty of many other driving related offences, such as having no driving licence or MOT certificate. We're doing everything in our power to get these dangerous and illegal drivers off our roads".

We say, go to it blues and two's! <bio>Brokers Online contains a huge amount of information on car insurance ( http://www.life-assurance-bureau.co.uk/car-insurance/ ), life assurance ( http://www.life-assurance-bureau.co.uk/life-insurance/ )and pet insurance ( http://www.life-assurance-bureau.co.uk/pet-insurance/ ) </bio>

Purchasing insurance -- any kind of insurance -- is an important purchase. When you purchase insurance, you're purchasing a safety net -- one that will catch you should an accident or tragedy strike. It's no surprise, then, that you want to look for insurance companies that exude leadership in the insurance industry.

Below are a few tips to consider when looking for an insurance company that displays leadership and will be more likely to provide the exact insurance coverage you need.

1. Gather the names of a few well-known insurance companies. Just because an insurance company is well-known doesn't mean it's better, but it does give you a jumping off point.

2. Take this list of well-known insurance companies and check the ratings of each as rated by independent research companies. These companies have no connection with the insurance companies; therefore, they have no reason to present any information other than the truth.

3. Call your state's insurance bureau and ask which insurance companies are licensed to do business in your state. You don't necessarily have to have insurance through a company licensed to do business in your state; however, in the event that you have trouble with your company, your state's insurance bureau will be able to assist you more easily if the company is licensed to do business in your state.

4. Call the customer service numbers of each insurance company you're considering. Let the representative know you're a potential customer, and ask any questions you have regarding policies, coverage, and rates. Take note of the quality of customer service.

Qualities that help insurance companies maintain leadership in the insurance industry vary, usually according to each individual customer. As long as you choose a company that is reputable, has high ratings, is licensed to do business in your state, and has a friendly, knowledgeable staff, you're well on your way to finding an insurance company that possesses the traits of leadership. <bio>http://www.myquoteguide.com/Car-Tips.shtml http://www.ezquoteguide.com/home/ Car Insurance Quote </bio>

If you've ever tried to purchase Tennessee low cost car insurance, you're probably aware of the impact your credit score has on policy-underwriting and rate-determining procedures. While there are a few restrictions auto insurers have when it comes to using your credit score (an insurer can't, for example, take action against you based on your score), it's no secret that having a decent score increases your chances of finding affordable car insurance in Tennessee.

Making repairs to your credit score will help you get Tennessee low cost car insurance, and we'll even help get you started. Take these five tips into consideration.

Obtain your credit report(s). America's top credit bureaus are Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. Order a credit report from each bureau as information tends to vary from report to report.

Study your credit report(s). Study each report and take note of both correct and incorrect information. If your report includes incorrect negative information, your chances for getting Tennessee low cost car insurance will, in turn, be negatively affected.

Dispute incorrect information. When you find incorrect negative information, file a dispute with the credit bureau in question. Make sure to keep copies of all communication between you and the bureau.

Think about the correct information. If you have positive information on your credit report (and we hope you do!), remember the steps you took to get those results. Remember the mistakes you made to get negative information and devise a plan to avoid continuing those mistakes.

Continue to build your credit. Consider secured credit cards =96 designed for people with no or poor credit =96 to help re-establish your credit. In the meantime, call on other lines of credit that weren't reported. Your gas card and department store credit line, for example, may be in great standing but not reported. Contact those institutions and request they report to a credit bureau. Otherwise, you may risk your chance at getting affordable car insurance in Tennessee. <bio>Recommended sites for low rate insurance http://www.ezquoteguide.com/car/ http://www.myquoteguide.com </bio>

The dangers of online shopping are well known. Horror stories abound of people who have lost loads of money while shopping online. You may be tempted to shun all online shopping, because you just don't want to take the risk.

However, as our lives become and more intertwined with activities on the Internet, it will become increasingly hard to avoid all online financial transactions. Instead of avoiding the issue, why not take steps to protect yourself?

I'll outline steps I take to limit my online risk. Following these steps are no guarantee that I'll never lose money. But they greatly reduce the chances that I will lose significant amounts of money with my online activities.

To start it's important to recognize two levels of risk:

1. My Immediate Purchase Risk - the risk that I will lose money with the transaction I am currently making.

2. My After-the-Fact Financial Risk - the risk that my financial information will be stolen and used subsequent to the transaction I am currently making, possibly repeatedly.

While both kinds of risk are important, the second can lead to far greater losses of money than the first. We'll cover steps to avoid both kinds of losses, but you'll want to be especially diligent about lowering your After-the-Fact financial risk.

Reducing My Immediate Purchase Risk

In making a purchase, the merchant's reputation is everything. When I consider purchasing from an unfamiliar online merchant, I do my my best to establish that the merchant has a good reputation. Most legitimate retailers work hard to avoid cheating their customers, and their reputation will reflect that effort.

Reputation on Online Auctions

With online auctions, establishing a merchant's reputation is usually pretty easy. Generally each seller will have a score indicating how well they've done in satisfying their customers. Don't under estimate the value of this information. It's very revealing. I usually make sure that the seller has been involved in a large number of transactions -- no less than 30 -- but a much higher number if I want to be really safe.

Further I read the feedback that the seller has received from their buyers. It's important to take particular note of any neutral or negative comments. If the percentage of negative comments is greater than a couple percent, I will probably avoid this seller. Additionally, if the negative comment percentage is low, but there is a consistent theme of poor shipping performance or of buyers not receiving what they expected, I also will likely move on.

Reputation Through the Better Business Bureau

If the merchant is not selling through an auction, establishing it's reputation takes more work. I'll usually take a quick look at the Better Business Bureau web site for online businesses (http://www.bbbonline.org). It's pretty rare to find an online merchant listed there, but if it is listed and it has poor performance, I immediately know to avoid it.

Further, if I can find the physical address of the business, I can use the main Better Business Bureau web site (http://welcome.bbb.org/) to find the local Better Business Bureau responsible for the merchant's geographic area. Many times the local Better Business Bureau will have a listing for the online merchant. <bio>Continue reading this article at http://Unique-Christmas-Gifts.com/Shopping-Online-Safely-2/.
It can be pretty tough when your credit is bad and it is next to impossible to get credit when you need it. Most major credit card companies will not talk to you, and a lender - well, forget about it. There is a way, though, out of the tough situation with a prepaid credit card. Here is what you can do with a prepaid credit card to help rebuild your credit score.

Need A Bad Credit Rating

One of the best things about a prepaid credit card is that it was designed for people with bad credit. In fact, that is one of the qualifications. There will not be any check on your credit rating, or your employment. Anyone can get one of these credit cards, but you will need to deposit a cash amount equal to the credit limit you want. This lets you know that it operates on a debit basis - no actual credit is given.

Get A Card That Reports To A Credit Bureau

Not many prepaid credit cards actually report to a credit bureau. That is, however, the kind of card that you want to get. While others make having cash handy, it really will not help you (or anyone with bad credit) in the long run.

Watch The Fees

Prepaid credit cards often come with a number of fees. You should compare one card with another in order to get the fewest fees. In order to get a prepaid credit card that reports to a credit bureau, you will probably have to pay an annual fee - could be as high as $100.

Look For Benefits

Most prepaid cards do not come with any benefits, but some do. You can get points, like on a regular credit card, that are useable for a few benefits - like free phone time, and more.

No Credit Card Abuse

Another good thing about these credit cards is that you can never go over your limit, or have to pay any late fees or interest. (Hey, this is sounding better all the time). This means that if it reports to a credit bureau, that it would be impossible to get a lower score than what you may already have with this kind of card.

Easily Put Cash On Your Card

Most prepaid cards will allow you to easily put credit on it from just about anywhere. You can even put your paycheck onto it by Direct Deposit.

Use It Like A Credit Card

A number of these prepaid credit cards can be used in the same way as a credit card. You can set up automatic bill payments, purchase things online, or over the phone. If you want this feature, however, be sure that the ad says that you can do this.

Like any other credit card, you will want to compare features and fees in order to find the best prepaid credit card for your needs. While most of them are similar, the fees vary widely. Since no qualifications are needed, why not get the best? <bio>Joe Kenny writes for the UK personal finance sites http://www.nationsfinance.co.uk/credit_cards/ and also http://www.cardguide.co.uk </bio>

A Credit Bureau, also known as a Credit Reporting Agency or Consumer Reporting Agency, functions as a central repository of credit and collection records, payment history and certain legal information on consumers and businesses. These records are sold to credit grantors and lenders whenever a consumer or business applies for credit. The three major U.S. credit bureaus are Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. A fourth credit bureau, Dun and Bradstreet Corp., specializes in reporting business credit information exclusively.

Local credit bureaus first appeared in the United States around 1860 and were primarily designed to provide local merchants with a way to keep tabs on local citizens who traded in the merchant's immediate community. Credit bureaus began to spread across the country after the end of World War I when returning soldiers began looking for money to buy homes, automobiles and consumer goods.

As credit purchases began to replace cash as the primary currency for the purchase of big-ticket items, and the nation became more mobile, the need for national credit bureaus became apparent.

Today's credit bureaus store over 1 billion consumer and business records, and almost 2 billion individual credit transactions are entered into those records every month. With all of this activity there is always a chance that a credit record may contain errors. That's why the U.S. Government passed the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act of 2003 (FACTA). Both of these acts set out requirements for credit bureaus to maintain fair and accurate records, provide a way for consumers to view those records, and respond to consumer complaints of inaccuracies should they exist.

The introduction of the Internet, and the World Wide Web in particular, gave lenders a new and profitable way to make credit-based lending decisions on-line and "instantly". This made it possible for charge card issuers and lenders to offer credit to consumers who were willing to fill out credit applications online. Key information from the application, including the applicant's full name, address, Social Security Number and date of birth is transmitted over the Internet to the lender's particular credit bureau. The credit bureau's computers look up the consumer's record and calculate a credit score based upon certain financial criteria. If the score is above the lender's minimum threshold, the application is instantly approved and both the lender and the borrower are notified.

Under Federal law, all U.S. residents are entitled to one free copy of their credit report annually, from each of the three major credit bureaus, without any cost or obligation.
