If you've never been to Belize, a great spot to start is Ambergris Caye. It offers great diving and interesting topside attractions to keep you busy during those surface intervals.

Ambergris Caye is the most popular spot in Belize for scuba diving. It offers a variety of diving such as reefs, walls, blue holes and more. If you've never been to Belize before, Ambergris Caye is a great place to start.

Geography

Ambergris Caye is the largest island of Belize and is about 25 miles long and 1 mile wide. So it's a small island and easy to explore. The town on Amergris Caye is San Pedro and lies near the southern tip.

San Pedro has 3 main roads that run parallel to the beach and reef. They have more tourist oriented names now but many of the locals still call them by their old names. The 3 main streets are Barrier Reef Drive (Front Street), Pescador Drive (Middle Street) and Angel Coral Drive (Back Street).

The barrier reef lies just offshore from Ambergris. It is about a half mile east from the shore so boat rides to most dive sites are short.

Location

Belize itself is situated on the Caribbean coast. It is bordered by Mexico in the north, Guatemala to the south and west and the Caribbean on the east.

Ambergris Caye is located about 35 miles northeast of Belize City and 11 miles north of it's sister island Caye Caulker.

There is airport on the island with several flights a day from Belize City (Maya Island Air and Tropic Air). The flight is short, about 20 minutes, but beautiful. You can also reach Ambergris via water taxi from Belize City (or Caye Caulker). The ride from Belize City is about 75 minutes and is a fun way to get the island.

Weather

The average daytime temperature during the summer months is typically around the mid to high 80's F with temperatures in the 90's F not that uncommon. Things cool off a bit in the winter months with average temperatures closer to around 80F.

Belize and Ambergris Caye have a rainy season from June to November with the most rainfall occurring in the September-November timeframe. The island does get hit by hurricanes during the hurricane season (June-November also).

Reefs and Rides

Ambergris Caye Belize sits right off the second largest barrier reef in the world (the reef runs for 185 miles). The reef is only about a half mile offshore from the island so boat rides can be short. The visibility is typically in the 50-100 foot range.

If you go out to the reef, some dive sights are less than a 10 minute ride away. One of the most popular spots for diving is within the Hol Chan Marine Reserve which lies less than 5 miles from San Pedro. This is also the area where the popular Shark Ray Alley is located. Although it is a snorkel spot, it is fun and worth doing.

There is alot of variety in Ambergris Caye diving. You can do canyons, tunnels, wrecks, blue hole, etc. Since it is the most popular tourist spot and dive destination in Belize, there are alot of dive operators to choose from. Most hotels usually have or are affiliated with/recommend a particular outfit.

So if you're looking for a spot with great diving and interesting topside attractions, Belize and Ambergris Caye may be for you.<bio>Dianne Rein runs a scuba diving website at www.scuba-diving-smiles.com. You can read her full report on scuba diving in Ambergris Caye as well as a report on scuba diving in Caye Caulker, Belize on her website.</bio>

Located in Central America, Guatemala shares borders with Mexico in the north/northwest, El Salvador in the south, Honduras in the southeast, and Belize in the northeast. The southwest of Guatemala is the Pacific coastline, while east has a tiny slice of the Caribbean. Volunteering in Guatemala is can be both self-rewarding as well as self-satisfying. A country ravaged by 36 years of civil war that left 100,000 people dead as well as forced 1million people to become refugees, if there is any country that needs volunteers it's Guatemala. Now, as it struggles hard to overcome the vast socio-economic problems, strengthen its infrastructure, and meet the growing needs of a population steeped in poverty, volunteering in Guatemala gives you the rare opportunity to gain a real understanding of this country steep in history and traditions and once the epicenter of the extraordinary Mayan civilization.

Divvied into 5 regions, Guatemala consists of the Central Highlands (area around the Guatemala city), Western Highlands (consisting of several modern Maya towns), Caribbean Coast (hot and happening), Petén (the main jungle in the north and home to impressive Maya ruins), and Pacific Highlands (hot and gorgeous beaches). Volunteering in Guatemala is an impressive combination of adapting to an ancient culture, while enjoy the wondrous bounties of nature in the form of Lake Atitlan, and many more as well as working with locals to improve their standard of living.

Why Volunteer in Guatemala

If you enjoy discovering new places, and exploring the diversities each country presents, then volunteering in Guatemala is perfect for you. Experience the varied riches of this vibrant cradle of Maya civilization and learn about the various ethnicities and languages spoken here. The Guatemalans include Ladinos or people of Spanish heritage, Mayans, and Mestizos or people who are of mixed ethnicity. Working as a volunteer will give you the unique opportunity to make friends with other international volunteers, as well as forge long-term relationships with the local people and help them in their endeavor to make their country a better place for all to live in

Types Of Projects Available

If you are interested in volunteering in Guatemala, there are many interesting projects available in many different categories. Some of the projects mentioned below are representatives of four of the most common categories, but it's not necessary that you'll be placed in the same category. As a volunteer in Guatemala, you must be prepared to be flexible with respect to your job placement as well as in your disposition. The two most important qualities you'll require while volunteering in Guatemala are patience and tolerance.

• Welfare: One of the poorest countries in Central America, 75% of Guatemalans lives below the poverty line and there is vast inequality between rich and poor. Many refugees who are returning back to the country after years of civil war are now trying to start their lives from scratch again. As a volunteer in Guatemala, you will be dealing with various projects such as welfare for homeless, poverty stricken, and child labor.

• Teaching: The public schools in Guatemala are free, but there is still the case that many children don't receive any education at all. Almost 25% of the population is illiterate and volunteers like you can make a difference by teaching them to learn and write. Volunteering in Guatemala will see you help several charitable organizations that work to provide basic education for those Guatemalans who may otherwise not be able to take benefit of this facility.

• Health: Due to being such a poor country, many people are unable to afford basic medical care. Volunteers in Guatemala work with charitable organizations to provide basic and emergency medical care to the locals.

• Conservation: Center to Maya civilization, Guatemala is full of dramatic beauty. But the growth in population, deforestation, industrial development, and a general lack of environmental consciousness as well as lack of education, have led to straining of the fragile ecosystems. As a volunteer, you can help protect and conserve the ecosystems in Guatemala.

Volunteering in Guatemala Requirements

1. 18 or above 18 years of age
2. Free from all health problems
3. No qualification necessary

Fee and Other details

There are fees attached for every volunteering project you opt for. The fee is charged in advance and is applied for food, accommodation, comprehensive travel insurance, in country travel, fund raising ideas etc.

Conclusion
If you speak Spanish and enjoy being part of a society steeped in ancient culture, then Volunteering in Guatemala is best suited for you!<bio>Volunteer in Guatemala expert Seomul Evans is a project manager and copywriter who contributes to Volunteer in Guatemala programs at Global Crossroad.</bio>

Central America is a specific region in the Americas. The area spans more than 500,000 square kilometers in total land area. Central America links Northern and Southern America, and is actually part of the former. It is composed of several countries, including El Salvador, Costa Rica, Honduras, Nicaragua, Belize, Guatemala, Panama and certain areas of Mexico.

There are a number of popular tourist destinations in Central America. The tropical weather and the gorgeous beaches in Mexico, Panama, Costa Rica and Nicaragua are attracting thousands of beach lovers and surfers every year. Natural parks are also quite popular, specifically in Nicaragua and Costa Rica. Mayan ruins, which can be found in El Salvador, Honduras, Belize ad Guatemala, are also hotspots. So are colonial towns, including Quetzaltenango, Antigua, Gracias, Leon and Suchitoto, to name a few.

A trip to Central America will not be complete until one experiences the unique food that the region has to offer. Favorite dishes in the region include rellenitos, tamales, gallo pinto, chicharron con yucca and pupusas. Meanwhile, popular drinks include pi=F1a colada, horchata, and a variety of alcoholic beverages, such as rum and tequila.

The real estate market in Central America is quite different from the real estate markets in other countries. Although there are similarities in some aspects, such as the necessary paperwork and the taxes, there are also several important differences. One of these is that every country in Central America has a specific rule regarding the places where foreigners are allowed to buy property. A specific example is in Mexico and in Honduras. An individual or a company hoping to invest in a beachfront property will not be allowed to do so in Mexico, as it is against their regulations to buy any property, both land or building, lying within 100 kilometers from the border or 50 kilometers from the coast. On the other hand, one is allowed to buy a beachfront property in Honduras.

Central America is becoming an increasingly popular choice for commercial real estate properties. This is because, compared to commercial property in the United States, commercial real estate property in Central America is relatively more affordable. For this reason, numerous investors are opting to buy property on the Mexico side of the border instead of on United States ground. There are several large cities in Central America where investors can buy hot commercial real estate properties. These include Panama City, Guatemala City, San Jose, Managua and San Salvador, among others.

Another reason for the popularity of commercial property in Central America is the presence of a huge market. This is because the countries of Central America, specifically Mexico, Belize and Honduras, are popular tourist destinations.

The continuing availability of affordable property, combined with a huge market, is enticing even more investors to spend on commercial real estate property in Central America. This is fueling the commercial real estate boom in the area.

If you're searching for valuable property at an affordable price, search for real estate in Central America! <bio>Seth Willis Jr. is the webmaster for http://www.mybizfootprint.com and a savvy real estate investor.
A Belize Vacation has everything you could wish for if you are an outdoor enthusiast and you like a bit of adventure on your travels. Belize offers almost unlimited opportunities to do a wide range of things.

You might well choose a Belize Fishing Vacation, as Belize is a mecca for fisherman, because you aren't just restricted to game fishing, although this is pretty good with all the lagoons and the ocean side of the reefs with all the big fish you could crave for.

When you add the many rivers that empty in to the Caribbean you will realise that you can add spinning and fly fishing to your repertoire on a Belize fishing vacation. Most guides and boatmen speak English.

If you hanker after a Belize Adventure vacation then there is caving, canoeing and kayaking, as well of course as hiking and walking. The best hikes in Belize include Cockscomb Basin Forest reserve in Southern Belize, Guanacastle National Park, Blue Hole National Park, Tikal National Park, and all need further investigation.

The best Belize adventure vacations might include things like chartering a boat and sail to isolated Islands, kayaking and camping around Glover's reef Atoll. Why not try riding an inner tube through the Caves Branch River Cave System, which is real easy caving for beginners.

Similarly try canoeing, kayaking or inner tubing on the Macal or Mopan Rivers in Western Belize, and finally horseback riding in Western Belize through the Cayo District.

You can of course do all or some of these things on a Belize honeymoon, but the likliehood is you will be looking for a gorgeous Belize beach resort, the best Belize luxury resort you can find, perhaps a Belize all inclusive vacation.

You are almost spoilt for choice for your Belize Honeymoon vacation, and of course Belize isn't restricted just to honeymooners, it is a family friendly place as well, and a vacation on a Belize Caye is unforgettable. There are several levels of accommodation from the luxury resort to the cheap Belize hotel, so it is important that you do your research before you book.

At the luxury end of the market in Belize.

If you are looking for a Jungle adventure you might consider the Maruba Resort Jungle Spa, or if it is caving, then the Jaguar Paw near Belmopan.

Ambergris Caye has Captain Morgan's Retreat, Victoria House, and off Ambergris Caye is almost a private island called Cayo Esperanto, which is absolutely perfect for the Belize beach honeymoon.

Turtle Inn at Placencia is almost the ultimate Belize Beach honeymoon destination designed by Film Director Francis Coppola, El Pescador South at Punta Gorda a real luxury Belize resort.

For a cheap Belize Hotel it is worth investigating Ambergris Caye, where you will find the San pedro Holiday Hotel, Tides Beach resort, Ruby's, to name a few. At Punta Gorda there is the Coral House Inn, and at Placencia there is Tradewinds.

Belize has it all, the weather the best beaches, beautiful cayes, and an exciting interior to explore and have fun.
Belize Cruise

When taking a Belize cruise you need to relax and enjoy the cruise part of the trip. Once arrive in Belize, time is of the essence. You have to make sure you see as much as you can of the exquisite tropical paradise. It would be such a waste to not enjoy it. So you better make sure that you pack all your travel essentials, and find out how you can to make the most out of your most coveted Belize cruise.

Belize City, the largest city in the country, is the main port of call for all cruise ships arriving in Belize. Once your ship has anchored in the Caribbean waters, you will be taken to Fort Street Tourism village=97which is especially designed for Belize cruise ship passengers who wishes to experience Belize in a day.

For cruise ship visitors, there three major options to enjoy Belize's attractions. First is to sign up for a tour upon arrival in Belize. It can be a bit chancy since you still have to spend some time in choosing the agency most suitable for you. But if you are short of time for travel preparations before your arrival to Belize, then this is your best bet. Do take note though that in choosing your tours, Belize law requires all tour guides and operators to carry a valid license with their ID's.

Next, if you do have ample time for travel arrangements, you can get a pre-arranged tour via the Belize cruise line that you have chosen. Some packages might be pricier than the usual; but since you will be assured that a tour awaits you once you arrive in Belize, then having no worries about your travel itinerary is more than worth the few extra dollars. Besides, you can also maximize the time allotted for sight seeing as your guide is already waiting for you to be mesmerized by tropical island.

Another risky but definitely adventurous approach in enjoying Belize is by embarking on a do-it-yourself tour. You might even consider renting a car if you have the time. You might probably be able to explore a whole new side of Belize which is not frequently included in the usual tours. However, you need to remember a few things: first is that this requires thorough research prior to your trip and two, you have to be conscious of the time for your departure. It is okay to be engrossed in the scenery, but be sure that you do not miss your boat.

Here are some of the major tours and attractions you can include in your Belize cruise itinerary: the Museum of Belize in Gabourel Lane, House of Culture in Regent Street, and St. John's Cathedral in Albert Street. In downtown, you can drop by the Bliss Institute for Performing Arts, Supreme Court Building, and Swing Bridge. Around North Front Street, you can pay a quick visit to the Marine Terminal and Maritime Museum, Image Factory Art Gallery, and National Archives and City Library.

Other Belize landmarks worth visiting are the Baron Bliss Lighthouse Monument in Parade, the Commercial Center in Market Square, the National Handicraft Center in No. 2 S. Park Street, and the Yarborough Cemetery in Yarborough. If you happen to around the vicinity of Western Highway, you can pop around Old Belize Cultural and Historical Center and Cucumber Beach in Mile 5, while Gran's Farm is in the same area but in Mile 14. Also, do not forget that if in the Waterfront region, you can see the Marine parade on the northern part, and the Southern Foreshore on the southern side.

Booking a Belize cruise is definitely a great way to visit and get to know the country and all its beauty. Once you enjoyed Belize hospitality you will want to return for another visit and may even find yourself moving to Belize. <bio>The Moving to Belize website is at http://www.moving-to-belize-info.com. Providing great information on visiting and exploring Belize. A Belize cruise is a great way to visit and explore this tropical paradise. </bio>

Belize has such contrasts from the beaches to the jungle to the Mayan ruins, from the rivers to the Cayes, needs a good base to see it all, so check out the Black Orchid Resort..

Any Tour Package to Belize must include all the sights. It seems a shame to hide away on a Caye, even if diving is your passion. Equally silly to spend your entire time in the jungle viewing ancient Mayan Ruins, or just sitting on a beach in the Caribbean sunshine, when there is so much to see and do. The problem is where do you base yourself so you can be sure your tour package to Belize gives you the adventure you want, and the relaxation and down time your body needs as well.

Such a place is the Black Orchid Resort on the banks of the Belize Old River on the outskirts of Burrell Boom Village, is just twenty minutes from the international airport so its easy to reach and easy to leave from.

There are three different types of people here, with the first being people who have spent a week or more on their Belize adventure vacation who now need some R and R. The Black Orchid Resort is a great place for that, because you can just lie in a hammock sipping a cool tropical drink and then taking a quick dip into the pool for body refreshment. All they really want to do is chill out and relax, and if they feel up to it they go down to the river and canoe, kayak or just paddle boat, or even take a power boat trip up the river.

The second group have just arrived off a long haul flight, and are recovering before starting an arduous round of all that Belize has to offer, with packing and unpacking, a different hotel or inn every two or three nights to return exhausted to await their flight out.

You are the third group who know exactly what they want to see and do and the wonderfully helpful staff at the Black Orchid Resort will ensure it happens. You see the rest of belize can easily be reached from the Black Orchid Resort. As a consequence of this they arrange a whole host of Belize adventure vacation tours, and give you the best of all worlds with a great tour package to Belize. So if you want to go diving, snorkelling, fishing, sailing, then you can. If you want to go hiking or visiting some of the offshore Cayes, then just ask. The ancient Mayan Ruins and their archaeology can be explained and explored on a private tour if that is what you want.

Wonderfully there is the Black Orchid Resort to return to with its very comfortable accommodation, a great three meals every day, and the pool to wash away the dust and the tiredness.

When it is time to go, you will be very sorry to leave such a hotel, that has such willing staff, that organizes wonderful trips, and probably you are one of the few guests who is in on the secret, that there is no need to leave the Black Orchid Resort to have your Belize Adventure vacation, because you can organize it from here.<bio>Jim Brown recently began developing Belize Vacation Spots as well as contributing several articles about Worldwide Vacation Spots and he recommends Caribbean Vacation Spots but given a choice he would choose Belize before anywhere else</bio>

Once you arrive your passport will be stamped and you will be allowed to stay for a month. After that, any immigration office can extend your stay for thirty days at a time, for a fee of course.

If you are planning to make Belize your new home then after one year you can apply for permanent residency.

Retirement

If you are considering retiring in Belize you should know that there is a retirement program available for people 45 years and older. There will be many opportunities for them to make friends. Almost everywhere in Belize accepts and accommodates children. Most places are family focused. You will know right away which establishments are not appropriate for children.

There are public schools and private schools for your children to attend. The public schools are free. But just like everywhere else you will have to pay for a private education.

The education system provides a pretty solid foundation for your children. They should have no problem returning to your home country to pursue higher education. Most Belizean students studying abroad do extremely well.

Pets

You are allowed to bring your pets with you. Dogs and cats can enter Belize without being quarantined. However, they must have a veterinarian certificate declaring your pet free of any infectious disease. Your pet must also have been vaccinated against rabies.

Just please bear in mind that Belize is not suitable to all pets. They may not adjust well to subtropical climate.

Communications

Belize has a pretty reliable phone service, including cellular phones. The majority of people who own cell phones in Belize use prepaid cards. It works out much cheaper that way.

Internet service is widely available for your computing needs. Cable television service is also available for your entertainment.

Getting Your Things There

The recommended way for getting your personal items to Belize is to ship it down. You can ship either a half container load or a full container load. The most cost effective way is to load the container yourself and then arrange for it to be shipped to Belize City.

Once in Belize you can clear the container through customs yourself, although this is not recommended. The easiest way to do it is to hire a customs broker.

Once it is cleared through customs it is not difficult to find someone to help you unload.

I hope that these tips have been helpful in addressing some of the concerns that you may have before moving to Belize.<bio>For tons of great information on Belize Click Here.</bio>

I'd never heard of it, and to me it is just an absolutely fantastic best kept secret.

What can I say about Cayo Espanto, except that it is the most romantic place on earth.

>From the moment you arrive with all the staff waiting to greet you, plus the labrador Sally, to the moment you leave when the process is reversed you are cosseted, spoiled, and totally overwhelmed by the best service I have ever experienced anywhere in the world.

>From the moment the boat picked us up and we were handed drinks and cold towels I knew this was special, although I should have realised when we were sent a preferences sheet to fill in before we had ever left home.

You see, nothing is too much trouble, we had a personal houseman, and he had an assistant. We had a walkie talkie so we could contact him whenever we wanted. Everything from breakfast first thing in the morning to a nightcap at night. Everything, literally at any time, because they already knew what we liked and didn't like.

The island is a very private place, and we hardly saw another soul during our stay, because we ate our meals either on the boat deck or on the beach, we were sung to by candlelight, you name it we had it. Our meals were very much personally cooked according to our preferences, and some of the meals were the best I've eaten anywhere in the world.

The accommodation, or casita I think was called Casa Esrella, and this seemed to be the biggest and best of all the villas, being a two storey house, with shutters that were raised during the day, and lowered at night for us.

I could go on, but in fairness I must tell you, David proposed when we got home, and the only condition I made before accepting was................. I had to have the best Belize island Honeymoon at Cayo Esperanto in Ambergris Caye Belize!! <bio>Jan Broddick occasionally writes for http://www.worldwidevacationspots.com, where you will find lots of articles about vacation destinations that will be completely unfamiliar to you </bio>

Investing in property in Belize is a proposition that is often overlooked in favour of more mainstream locations such as France and Spain. Such an oversight suggests that potential real estate purchasers may be missing out on a wonderful lifestyle and a lifelong investment.

Belize is a Central American country that offers a wide variety of real estate options, from high-rise apartments to luxury detached family homes and from bustling cities to private islands; this country has it all.

Traditionally, investing in property in Belize has not been a hot favourite as it has very little in the way of regulation in the real estate market and has been relatively inaccessible, geographically. All of this is set to change and with it, the real estate market is likely to see the boom that analysts have been forecasting for several years.

Investing in property in Belize offers a wealth of opportunities that are not often found within a single country. The main city, Belize City in the north of the country, offers the type of cosmopolitan lifestyle that you would expect from a developed city. In demand are properties such as luxury apartments and homes that are suitable for young professionals.

As part of the expansion of this country, a new airport is under development, within the city perimeters, offering cheap and easy access to both the city and the country as a whole. Imminently, flights will be available from Europe and the US, offering tourists cheap and easy access to Belize.

This huge development in the infrastructure of the country means that investing in property in Belize is looking like a better option, by the day! The government has indicated that expansion at Belize City Airport should get under way by 2012.

Not only is Belize City on the rise, Belize has a range of other areas that are positively tantalising for investors and tourists alike. Jungle areas offer peace and tranquillity as well as warm weather, throughout the year, making it a popular location for those who are keen to capture a slice of paradise! Properties in these areas tend to be larger, with multiple bedrooms and often generous plots of land surrounding the property.

Infrastructure can be limited in the more remote parts, making holiday rentals less appealing; however, if you are after your personal idyll, then the jungle regions have beauty by the bucketful!

When it comes to paradise, Belize offers a second option for the beach lover. There are numerous islands surrounding the country, offering everything from state of the art beach resorts, to private retreats. Investors can purchase anything from beachside apartments on developed complexes, to an island all of their own.

No matter where you are looking to buy in Belize, or whatever the type of property you are interested in, one thing that Belize is almost guaranteed to offer is good value for money. Although property prices over the last 20 years have appreciated dramatically, those studying the country believe the best is yet to come.

With improved infrastructure and greater regulations providing increased security for those interested in investing in property in Belize, it seems that property prices in Belize are going to be on the up for some time to come.

With an increasingly buoyant property market and an enormous variety of properties and locations to choose from, there are very few people who can't see the wisdom of property investment in Belize. <bio>Providing essential information on buying property abroad, Tem Pearson is dedicated to offering all the necessary information for people looking to buy property in different countries.
This fascinating destination of the Americas had been cultivated by thriving agrarian cultures for 3,000 years before Europe's arrival in the New World. The modern existence of more than eight ancient cultures can still be found today and a triumphant preservation movement of these indigenous people is underway. Central America offers mesmerizing insight into the beauty of life and tradition that has sustained centuries of repression, shifting political alliances and some of nature's mightiest forces.

Bordered by the Caribbean Sea and the North Pacific Ocean, the Central American isthmus is a narrow tropical and volcanic landmass that connects Mexican North America to the northwestern lowlands of South America. Early in the 19th century, this region was known as The United States of Central America but today is comprised of the seven independent nations of Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama.

Relax, Explore and Discover The most spectacular Mayan ruins can be found in Guatemala at Tikal, a ceremonial center of pyramids, plazas and museums tucked beneath a thick and enchanting rainforest canopy. Belize provides the traveler with a slower pace along its white sand Caribbean coastline dotted with world class reefs for the passionate scuba diver. The entire landmass is a geographic wonder of active volcanic chains, which also provides highly fertile soil for agriculture necessary to sustain the incredibly dense populations in urban centers like San Salvador. Costa Rica attracts adventure-seekers from all corners of the world to its thrilling white water rapids and mystic cloud forests, while the truly daring are drawn to Nicaragua's smoking and belching Santiago Crater, tucked between two active volcanoes in Volcán Masaya National Park.

Central America is also teeming with vivacious urban life. San Jose, Costa Rica's capital city, is one of the most modern and international cities in the region, blessed with more years of peace than many Central American cities have experienced in recent decades. Bars and Nightclubs are packed every night of the week and booming commercialism, museums and gourmet restaurants seem to momentarily erase the less affluent reality in the background. To the south, Panama City is also a vibrant and expansive metropolis spawned from the commerce generated by the adjacent Panama Canal.

Travel to Central America to come face to face with a collection of cultures and lifestyles more diverse and complex than you had ever imagined. Explore the diverging histories of a region bound by a common past and struggling to achieve a prosperous future.
If it has to be Belize, and it has to beachfront, and it has to be affordable, then check out the Maya Beach Hotel at Placencia.

You need an affordable Vacation in Belize. So how does USD110 as an average price sound, and how does beachfront on Placencia, and not only that rated in the top three hotels in the Placencia Peninsula. Such a hotel is the tiny Maya Beach Hotel, which is situated on a beach of lovely soft sand slap bang in the middle of the Placencia Peninsula.

With apparently only five rooms the Maya Beach Hotel is tiny, and without a huge number of stars to its name you would be right to expect more comfort than luxury, because the Maya Beach Hotel is looking for guests who don't want to spend all the time in their rooms, they want people out relaxing on the beach, going on tours of this part of Belize, meeting local people, or just relaxing in a hammock, cool drink in hand, or fish watching at the end of the hotel's dock. There is plenty to do, even if it means being busy doing nothing. The rooms all have screened windows, because the risks of being bitten in Belize are high so you will want to use insect repellent anyway. There is air conditioning, private bath, table and chairs, safe drinking water and nice quality bed sheets.

There are the Standard Beachview Rooms, called Jaguar, Toucan, and Hummingbird, with Queen Beds, and all three are roomy.

The Large Coconut Room is the largest room on the second floor, and access to the balcony. Close to the hotel's famous Bistro is the Hibiscus Room.

If you are looking for somewhat grander accommodation, then the Maya Beach Hotel offers rentals of some of the most spectacular privately owned beachfront houses on the Peninsula, although if it is the affordable vacation you seek, then they may well be out of your price bracket.

The Bistro has a huge and well deserved reputation, closed on Mondays but otherwise open all day and evening. Some of the cooking is totally inspirational, and best of all the prices will fit in with the requirements of an affordable vacation.

It can be difficult to decide what kind of vacation you would have at a hotel like the Maya Beach Hotel, but previous guest's comments can give you more of an idea. The most prominent comments suggest this is a place to relax. "A real relaxed vacation", and "Very quiet and friendly", are two relevant reports. It has been described as "Close to being Paradise", with "Friendly helpful staff and fantastic food".

One guest really put the whole thing in a nutshell when they reported "A great and very affordable little hotel, with great food, and so very relaxed and friendly". It therefore would appear to tick most of the boxes for people who don't want a hectic night life, and enjoy the smaller more intimate Inn type of hotel, rather than the big glitzy resort, full of hustle and bustle, but so plastic you could be anywhere. Belize is a lovely country and hotels like Maya Beach Hotel enable you to get much closer to the real Belize.<bio>Jim Brown recently began developing Belize Vacation Spots as well as contributing several articles about Worldwide Vacation Spots and he recommends Caribbean Vacation Spots but given a choice he would choose Belize before anywhere else</bio>

A Honeymoon in Belize is becoming a popular option, and the hard part then is putting together a honeymoon package, after deciding where to stay. A good choice would be the Xanadu Island resort on Ambergris Caye.

A Honeymoon resort benefits from being small, and Xanadu Island resort has only eighteen rooms, right on the beachfront within ten minutes walk of San Pedro on Ambergris Caye

The kind of accommodation you might decide to take on your honeymoon package could well be Suite number two which is an oceanfront loft with views to die for. Get up early, about half past six, make a cup of coffee in the kitchen, go outside onto the deck, and watch the sunrise, and if you do this once, you'll do it everyday.

Ambergris Caye is a real island getaway, and Xanadu Island resort even more so. It is hidden on a beach lined with palm trees, and what you see from your dawn and daily outlook is the turquoise Caribbean, and the white line of the reef.

The breakdown of the accommodations is a Studio, Loft, or 1,2,or3 bedrooms. Each suite is airconditioned, plus ceiling fans, cable Television, unlimited internet access, as if you'd want that on your Belize honeymoon!! Added to that hairdryers, safe, beach towels, and not forgetting your own private deck which is shaded from the sun.

There is a long pier with a thatched shade at the end and a swimming platform, so you can snorkel over the hotel's own man made reef. There is a lovely pool, and loads of hammocks and sunbeds around the pool and on the beach.

The complimentary bikes and kayaks allow you to explore Ambergris Caye, and the bicycles are especially useful to take you into San Pedro to the great restaurants there. If your honeymoon in Belize isn't to be just relaxing at the Xanadu, but you wish to be more energetic, then why not try Scuba Diving, sailing, fishing or take a guided eco tour to the rainforest.. In addition tours to Mayan ruins can easily be arranged.

Whilst there is no restaurant at the resort, this won't detract from your honeymoon vacation at all, after all who needs boring hotel restaurant food anyway. There are two local markets close by, so snack meals can easily be organised in the kitchen which is very well equipped.

Some suggestions for feeding yourself are George's for breakfast, Casa Picasso for dinner, Crazy Canuck's Bar on the beach, and Monkey Bites for breakfast or lunch

The management team at the Xanadu Island Resort go out of their way from even before you arrive for your honeymoon in Belize to ensure you have an enjoyable and stress free time. From the immaculately maintained property, well looked after rooms, nothing is left to chance, even ensuring flights and taxis are all there when you need them.

Xanadu Island Resort on Ambergris Caye could give you the perfect honeymoon in Belize, and research shows that most people who have gone there for their Belize Honeymoon would return.

For more information on a Honeymoon in Belize go to http://www.caribbean-vacationspots.com/categories/Belize/ <bio>Gordon Steven writes exclusively for http://www.caribbean-vacationspots.com as well as http://www.worldwidevacationspots.com and has visited personally many of the places he reports on, and has done extensive research on the others </bio>

Belize may be one of the many islands in the Caribbean but that's not all. This tropical paradise is also the northern most county in Central America and until 1973, it was known as British Honduras, as it was under British rule. Belize gained independence as recently as 1981, and since then the government of this country has been promoting its immense natural beauty and heritage making Belize real estate, an exciting investment option.

>From its Caribbean shores to its wild forestlands, Belize is a plethora of surprises - deep azure waters, deserted beaches, remote luxury retreats where you can rest in tranquility, ancient Mayan ruins, magnificent waterfalls, serpentine rivers, and the second largest coral reef in the world!

Heart of Ancient Mayan Civilization

Not a typical island vacation destination, Belize leaves you breathless and wanting for more. The talcum powder beaches kissing clean deep blue waters of the beautiful Caribbean Sea are reminiscent of perhaps, Cancun or Cayman islands. If sea and water sports such as scuba diving, and snorkeling in warm waters brimming with amazing marine life and great resorts don't leave you excited, then tall waterfalls, exotic wildlife, over 500 species of birds including toucans and parrots and over 3,000 years old Mayan ruins are sure to get your adrenalin pumping!

The mesmerizing and enchanting Belize's beauty is so overpowering that some even call it `Garden of Eden'. The value of Belize is growing by the day. Imagine owning a Belize real estate beach front villa! But, back in the past, even the Ancient Mayans knew the value of Belize. It's a historically proven fact that Mayan are one of the most ancient and advanced civilizations and while ruling Central America, they build huge stone cities and temples. For centuries, Belize has remained central to this ancient civilization. The Mayans left behind large amount stone structures, cities and temples as testaments of their long rein. Almost 600 Mayan archaeological sites have been discovered in Belize.

Abundance of Natural Beauty

Investing and owning real estate in Belize is fast gaining universal acceptance. The popularity and interest in Belize real estate are largely due to the country's proactive efforts to expand tourism. The government has announced several financially attractive incentive programs to promote and encourage foreign investments in the Belize real estate market, especially for second homes, retirement and investment property, and beach front rentals.

A retirement or second home in Belize make an excellent investment choice. Experience your own luxury villa on one of the many beaches of Placenca, Belize. Imagine waking up to the chirping of birds, a glorious day, and no pollution. Step onto your private marbled terrace and watch the sun set over the sparkling crystal waters of the Caribbean Sea or enjoy a cup of coffee enjoying the waves gently caress your feet and driving all your tiredness away!

Belize real estate market is growing rapidly fueled by the influx of tourists from all over the world. A basic beach front condominium can be yours for as low as USD 99,000, while a more luxurious beach facing property can cost you over USD 3, 55,000! Own your own piece of Paradise, Belize beckons! <bio>Seth Willis is the webmaster for http://www.planetpads.com and a savvy real estate investor.
It can be difficult to find a quality beachfront hotel on Ambergris Caye Belize, at a price you can afford so check out the Corona del Mar Hotel and Apartments

Looking for a beachfront hotel, preferably all suite, or an apartment, and it has to be on Ambergris Caye Belize, and it has to cost under USD180, then perhaps the Corona del Mar Hotel and Apartments is the place for you.

Actually described as Corona del Mar Hotel and Apartments with Woody's Wharf it is well known as one of Ambergris Caye's most spacious and comfortable hotels. It has twelve rooms, and four apartments, which really are deluxe suites with masses of space.

The situation is beachfront at Woody's Wharf which is about half a mile from San Pedro, which isn't really a town more a quaint fishing village with bits added on, and less than a mile away is the second largest coral reef in the world. Being half a mile from San pedro gives you the advantage of some peace and quiet, but near enough to visit restaurants, do some shopping, and part if you want to.

Guests comments are always very helpful when it comes to selecting a vacation destination, and the Corona del Mar Hotel and Apartments is often described as a really good hotel, and a great price, even called a bargain.

Whilst there is no pool at the hotel, there is a swimming area at the wharf, where they have their own dock, so it may not be the best place if you have small children, but perfect to be able to swim in the Caribbean Sea for adults and older teenagers. Swimming off the wharf also means avoiding the sea grass which seems to be everywhere.

Comments always include the idyllic beachfront location, and how helpful accommodating, and friendly the staff are, which goes a long way to helping you understand why the Corona del Mar Hotel and Apartments is one of the best Ambergris Caye Hotels.

There are always remarks made about the size of the rooms, the views from the top level rooms are just fantastic, and how clean everything is kept in the accommodations. Also there are frequent remarks about how well furnished and appointed the rooms are.

Best thing of all is the fact that everyone comments on how reasonably priced it is for a beachfront hotel in such a wonderful location.

It is fair to say however, that if your ideal vacation includes, or has to have a large resort, all singing and dancing facilities, and night life in your hotel, then the Corona del Mar Hotel and Apartments wouldn't be for you. In fact Belize probably wouldn't be ideal at all!!

You will find the breakfasts are stunning at the edge of the dock, with beautiful views, fresh made coffee, eggs, fresh fruit, and fresh juice. There is a honour bar in the lobby, where you write down what you had, and it is then put on your room bill, and for evening eating there are two restaurants over the road, one of which will deliver pizzas, or you can get a $5 taxi into town for more choice.

There is no doubt at all if you need a beachfront hotel, and it has to be on Ambergris Caye, and your budget is slightly restricted at the moment, then you couldn't make a better choice than the Corona del Mar Hotel and Apartments.

For more information on Belize Vacation Spots go to http://www.belize-vacationspots.com/pages/Site-Map.html<bio>Jim Brown recently began developing Belize Vacation Spots as well as contributing several articles about Worldwide Vacation Spots and he recommends Caribbean Vacation Spots but given a choice he would choose Belize before anywhere else</bio>

Planning a wedding, then check out the most romantic wedding destination in Corozal Belize called Maruba Resort Jungle Spa.

It all came about from looking for a vacation in Belize, and deciding that it would be fun to not be on a beach or on a Caye. Suddenly Maruba Resort Jungle Spa appeared on a website and instead of thinking towards a Spa Resort Vacation, it suddenly seemed the right thing to do, to choose it as a most romantic of romantic wedding destinations.

This was the way a group of friends heard a confirmed bachelor make the most pathetic of pathetic excuses about why he was suddenly picking a romantic wedding destination in the jungles of Belize, and then expecting friends to rush to his support. You would think a man of thirty eight would really have more sense.

The Maruba Resort Jungle Spa is a lovely romantic vacation destination anyway, and a lovely boutique hotel with 20 rooms in the jungle and well off the beaten track in the north of Belize in an area known as Corozal. Frankly if you are seeking a romantic wedding destination then there isn't much doubt that getting married in this particular exotic tropical destination beats a beach wedding every day of the week.

At the Maruba Resort Jungle Spa what you will get, after completing some fairly simple requirements to obtain a Marriage License in Belize, is the following. The wedding will take place under coconut palms and surrounded by beautiful coloured and perfumed tropical flowers. There will be music coming from an unknown place in the jungle, and the bride is escorted to her wedding by two local natives fanning her with palm fronds. Most romantic of all is an evening wedding under the star filled tropical sky to the accompaniment of drums, and lit by jungle torches. There will be tribal dances, exotic drinks, and superb cuisine. Maruba Resort Jungle Spa can give you a totally romantic wedding destination.

At the same time the guests will have the unique opportunity of staying in a place where the new millenium seems to have somehow missed it out. This is a spa resort vacation like no other, and from the moment you arrive you will feel the difference, with incense burning, and a rum punch in your hand you'll be given the grand tour. With 20 accommodation units the Maruba Resort Jungle Spa is very much a boutique hotel, and of course ideal as a romantic honeymoon destination, which is why the bride and groom stayed where they were and so did their wedding party to enjoy to the full everything this amazing spa resort vacation has to offer.

It is a day spa as well as a hotel, so there are two pools, one exclusively for guests. You will find an outdoor mineral bath in the jungle part of the grounds. The swimming pool has a waterfall, just so apt for an exotic tropical vacation destination, and just the place to cool off after experiencing outings like the nearby Mayan Ruins, or zip lining the jungle canopy or tubing in caves. Superb picnics with cold boxes will accompany you, and you'll quite simply be spoiled. The food will spoil you too, and there is even the chance to try local game. The accommodation is also amazing, but this article will now finish before too many people take a fancy to Maruba Resort Jungle Spa and turn up and maybe spoil this unspoilt place. Romantic wedding destination -- definitely. Romantic Honeymoon Destination -- absolutely. Romantic exotic tropical vacation destination that could be the best in Belize -- very much so.<bio>Jim Brown recently began developing Belize Vacation Spots as well as contributing several articles about Worldwide Vacation Spots and he recommends Caribbean Vacation Spots but given a choice he would choose Belize before anywhere else</bio>

Why stay in a hotel when you can go to San Pedro on Ambergris Caye in Belize and stay in such a magnificent place as Changes In Latitudes Bed and Breakfast.

An Inn or a Bed and Breakfast establishment is probably not your first choice idea when planning a holiday on Ambergris Caye, but you should look closely at Changes In Latitudes Bed and Breakfast in San Pedro.

Inn is a great word because it is evocative of Old England and New England, and of course a bed and breakfast inn has a real ring to it, especially when there is so much good news around on the subject of Changes In Latitudes Bed and Breakfast.

The situation of the Changes In Latitudes Bed and Breakfast is terrific. Apart from it being the only bed and breakfast in San Pedro it is almost next door to the Belize Yacht Club and only about 50 yards from the Caribbean.

You have use of the pool at the Belize Yacht Club as well as the use of the pier for swimming, snorkelling and sunbathing. What all this means is that although Changes In Latitudes Bed and Breakfast doesn't have its own pool you are actually closer to a Pool you can use, and the beach, than you would be if you'd stayed in a large plastic resort, and the Inn has free beach towels to take and use.

There are other advantages which at first won't seem obvious. Whilst this isn't for package holiday tourists who seek and demand luxury comforts but it is for genuine independent travellers who like to get a feel for the places they visit.

The rooms are small but functional, and who needs to spend time there anyway. There is plenty of hanging space and shelves. The bed is comfortable with enough pillows, and good clean linen, and the shower has more than enough water pressure, which isn't always true in Belize.

What you will get at Changes In Latitudes Bed and Breakfast is comfortable accommodation and breakfasts you will talk about for a long time to come. You will also have the great good fortune to deal with the co hosts Cindy and Renita who seem to know everyone and everything, so you shouldn't make a wrong choice over tour guides, restaurants specific shops for specific items.

Another great thing about this San Pedro Bed and Breakfast Inn is that it is just about the right distance away from the town centre. In fact it is close enough to easily walk to, but not so close as you will be kept awake by noise. The town centre is well worth visiting regardless of what people try to tell you. It's quite small, and it's here you find all the local businesses and activity. Please don't be put off by what well meaning people tell you about the local people in San Pedro. They are delightful and appreciate visitors who don't stay hidden away in hotels, but come out to spend money in what is their economy. They are proud people, and will take time to talk and help you find whatever you want to find.

Changes In Latitudes Bed and Breakfast has a quaint courtyard befitting an inn, and it is a nice place to sit and chat during the evening.

There is a whole lot more that could be written about Changes In Latitudes Bed and Breakfast, but as a last thought it is Cindy and Renita who are the difference. This bed and breakfast is absolutely delightful anyway but the two of them and their sheer enthusiasm to help you do whatever you want to do to make your Ambergris Caye holiday a success is a factor that remains in the mind. That and the breakfasts!!<bio>Jim Brown recently began developing Belize Vacation Spots as well as contributing several articles about Worldwide Vacation Spots and he recommends Caribbean Vacation Spots but given a choice he would choose Belize before anywhere else</bio>

Belize islands offer ordinary people like you and me the opportunity to live like royalty on our own private island!

Islands in Belize are mainly small enough to be owned privately, although there are some larger islands which are more like Caribbean resorts, where investors can purchase luxurious apartments benefiting from all of the mod cons that a holiday resort area offers.

When considering purchasing a Belize island, the general rule is that the more remote the island the cheaper it will be to buy, but the more expensive it will be to develop.

Belize islands are often referred to as cayes (pronounced: keys); most of these can be found along the southern coast of the country, quite close to the mainland, although there are still some to be found around the peninsulas of Placencia and Dangriga. In total, there are over 200 cayes of varying sizes and types available in Belize; basically, 'you pays your money, and you takes your choice'!

A large coral reef spanning 187 miles, parallel to the coastline, which dictates the size, type and location of Belize islands, surrounds Belize. There are also several large atolls which have their own coral reefs spanning a further 140 miles.

Arguably, the most spectacular of the islands, in terms of terrain and outlook, are the islands that are located on the reef itself; these are often referred to as coral cayes. These coral cayes will, normally, have a bedrock base and generally have beautiful sandy beaches that are perfect for swimming.

In contrast, Mangrove cayes have less in the way of usable land and rarely have sandy beaches, although they will normally have lagoons that are sheltered and ideal for boat mooring and swimming.

If you are considering the purchase of your own private island, then a boat, (or ideally two), is essential. Bear in mind that you may be several miles from your nearest neighbour and further still from the mainland, so doubling up on vital pieces of equipment is always a wise move!

Prices of islands vary dramatically and depend on the size, type and location of the island that you are hoping to purchase. In general, an island that is undeveloped but has plenty of usable space, sandy beaches and is between 5 and 15 acres, will set you back between US $200,000 and US $2,000,000.

When looking to purchase a private Belize island, the process is the same as for any other real estate purchase, in Belize. Look for adverts; listen out for word of mouth opportunities. As with other real estate in Belize, the islands are often sold privately, so it is always worth visiting the area and asking around for any likely islands for sale.

A visiting trip to locate that perfect island may take a bit longer than a standard visit. As you will have to travel longer distances between plots, you will generally be reliant on someone with a boat to transport you and, of course, the weather could have an adverse effect on your explorations.

If you want the idyllic island setting, but without the hassle of creating your own haven, then consider looking towards one of the larger cayes, such as Caye Caulker and Amergris Caye, both of which have their own airstrips, making access relatively easy in comparison to some of the more remote cayes.

Beachfront plots on these cayes can be purchased from US $75,000 and offer direct access to the beach and also guarantee at least 50 feet of secluded ocean frontage. The plots themselves are around 160 feet by 400 feet and allow you to develop your own property with relative ease. Perfect!

Belize islands have so much to offer, including unrivalled beauty that you can own, all for yourself! <bio>Providing essential information on buying property abroad, Tem Pearson is dedicated to offering all the necessary information for people looking to buy property in different countries.
