The size of the tent you choose is a very important consideration.

In prior articles we discussed how to pick a tent based on what weather conditions you are planning to camp in. Now we will discuss how to choose the correct size.

The first rule of thumb is never to buy a tent that you can't get into, walk around in, lie down in and stand up in. In other words find a camping store where the tents are set up.

Now consider how many adults and children will be sleeping in the tent. Will you be using sleeping bags and/or air mattresses? How much gear are you planning to take and stow in the tent? When you visit the store take your sleeping bag with you, or borrow one from the store. Lay it out on the floor in the tent. Now, consider three or four more, depending on the size of your group. How much room is left?

Most seasoned campers will tell you to take the manufacturers recommended number of people a tent will accommodate and divide it by two. If a manufacturer says a tent will accommodate 4 people, it's really 2. Most two men pup tents are not comfortable for two large adults and are definitely not comfortable for two adults and their gear. Also remember if it rains all your gear will need to go into the tent along with you.

A small tent where there is no head room, such as a pup tent may be fine for some campers, but definitely not those that camp with children.

If you are going to have children camping with you another consideration is that in case of inclement weather you may have your children in your tent longer than you expected. This can definitely lead to some over crowding and short fuses. When you go out to look at tents remember this rule - at least 30 square feet per person is what you want to look for, perhaps even more if you have children. That way they can have a quiet corner to entertain themselves with board games in case of inclement weather. <bio>To learn more about tents please visit http://www.tentsusa.info </bio>

Having a good quality tent when you take your family on a camping trip is one of the best investments that you can make. Larger tents are also great to have around for gatherings in your back yard. There are some things that you can do to be sure that you are getting the best value for your tent.

The first thing that you will have to do is determine the size of the tent that you will need. You should consider the use of the tent and the amount of people who will have to be inside at any given time. This is the information that you will need to start shopping for your tent.

Remember that the lowest cost tent is not necessarily the best value. If you choose a tent based strictly on the cost, you could end up with something that is too flimsy to handle the elements. If you plan to be in cold weather, you will need a tent that can keep the warmth inside the tent where you and your family will be trying to keep warm. In rainy weather, a cheaper tent may not be able to keep the water out where it belongs. Look at the quality of the materials that are used and determine the lowest cost tent that will hold up under difficult weather.

You should also look at some reviews of outdoor equipment and find the brand name that gets the highest praise. It can be very helpful to read the opinions of those who have actually used the tent you are considering.

Once you have determined the brand that you should use for your tent, it is time to do some comparison-shopping. You can check all of the local sporting goods stores in your area for the tent and compare the prices or you can go online. Of course, for the best possible price and quality you should do both.

When you are shopping online for your tent, make sure that you take into consideration the shipping costs when you are comparing the prices. You can often find a great deal online very easily because there are more options available to you. However, if the shipping costs are too high, you could end up paying more for the tent online than you would in your local sporting goods store.

Asking your friends and family about the type of tent that they are using will help you to find a quality tent. Having recommendations from those whose opinions you trust can be very helpful to finding the best deal on your tent.

Remember, lower cost does not mean the best value on your tent. You should buy the tent that is going to hold up well in all kinds of weather and difficult circumstances. The tent that lasts you and your family for a number of years is the best value for your tent. Also, the tent that does not leave you out in the cold and rain at the worst possible moment is the best value as well.<bio>Peter Geisheker is the CEO of The Geisheker Group marketing company.
Your choice of tent has a direct effect on your camping vacation. It will definitely make it or break it. Do your homework before you buy a tent so you won't be disappointed.

First you must decide what type of camping you are going to be doing. Are you going to be back packing or are you doing car camping? Car camping is where you pull your car up to a base camp site.

If you are backpacking it goes without saying that you'll want as lightweight a tent as you can find and also one that will withstand expected weather conditions. You may want to look into a warm weather tent or single wall tent if you're camping in summer weather conditions. If you decide you want the comfort of a larger tent, and if you need a 3-season or 4-season tent each backpacker can carry some of the tents components to lighten the load for each.

If you are car camping then the weight of the tent is not a problem for you. Most families do car camping. The ACA or American Camping Association and KOA or Kampgrounds of America have thousands of camp sites all over the country. You can check their online web sites for information. These sites generally are tree shaded with an area for a grill to be set up. Most have facilities within easy walking distance such as a bathroom, shower, pool and even sometimes light food restaurants.

What you will always want to keep in mind, no matter what type of camping you do is what type of weather you will be camping in.

As mentioned above there are 3-season and 4-season tents. 4-season tents are heavier than 3-season. They are made to withstand heavier winds and rain and the weight of snow on them. Generally if you camp between May and September a 3-season tent will suit your needs. <bio>To learn more about tents please visit http://www.tentsusa.info </bio>

So you've decided to go camping. You've check out the camp sites that are accredited by the ACA or American Camping Association and KOA or Kampgrounds of America. Now you need to decide how much you want to andquot;rough itandquot;. Are you staying in an RV, or a pop up camper? Perhaps you're pulling a travel trailer. Much too andquot;luxeandquot; for you, you say. You're a real man and all you need is a sleeping bag and a tent.

Choosing a tent for camping is the first task for any camping trip. What type of weather conditions are you expecting? Always be prepared for the worst, rain, wind, and cold. There are three season and four season tents available. Four season tents are heavier than three season tents. They tend to have more poles than three season tents to help them withstand wind and snow fall. Of course, most of us are fair weather campers. A three season tent will be fine for us. So, now, what style of tent do you want?

What style of tent you want may depend on how much backpacking you're going to do. If you're a pack backer you'll want to keep your load as light as possible. A tarp tent may be the one for you, or if you're camping in summer a lightweight warm weather tent may work.

If you're the type of camper who likes to andquot;rough itandquot; at a drive up base camp area then the weight of a tent will not be an issue for you. You will probably be more concerned with how many people will be sharing your tent. A two man tent will most likely be uncomfortable for two large adults and all their gear. Those with camping experience say that you'll want to look for at least 30 square feet of floor space per person. They say that you should divide the number of people a tent says is it's capacity by 2. If you're traveling with young children you definitely want to look into a larger model of tent. You'll want a large area inside your tent, especially as you may experience some inclement weather and have the children inside the tent for long periods of time. It would be nice if they had an area to play their board games.

Before you spend your hard earned money on a tent go to your neighborhood camping store where you can actually see the tents set up. Walk around in it. Lie in it. Stand up straight in it. Make sure that the tent you choose will meet all your camping requirements before you get to your campsite. <bio>To learn more about tents please visit http://www.tentsusa.info </bio>

On any camping or backpacking trip you want to be able to set up camp quickly when you arrive at your campsite, and also pack up just as quick when you are leaving. That is why choosing a tent designed for lightweight campers can be very helpful. A good tent has many characteristics, but if you are clueless about tents then read on to figure out what makes for a good tent choice.

There are many tents available on the market. There are certain ones, though, that seem to be the most popular for backpacking.

Dome tent: This type of tent has a lot of height and space. It uses only two poles, so it is easy to set up, but with only two poles there is not much support. This type of tent is best for calm weather conditions.

Modified dome tent: This is like a dome tent, but with more support. It has the same good qualities of a regular dome tent, but can work in more diverse weather conditions.

Tunnel tents: These tents do not have much height. They have two poles and need stakes to keep the tent secure. It is lightweight so it is easy to carry.

Teepee tent: This tent has one pole in the centre with the tent draped over it and then is staked. It does not have a floor, but provides great protection from the elements. It is also useful to cook in if the weather is bad outside, as it has no floor, your stove can be set up on the ground. Make sure of adequate ventilation when cooking though.

Freestanding tent: This is easy to set up and quite sturdy. It is very lightweight and should be staked so it does not blow away.

Single-skin construction tent: These tents do not have a fly. They are very easy to set up and do not require a lot of extra cords or stakes. They are lightweight, too. They do require ventilation because they acquire condensation easily.

Double-skin construction tent: Like a single-wall they are easy to set up. They have the outer layer or fly. They are well ventilated and protect against the elements. Plus they can be quite a bit warmer than a single skin tent, making them a better choice for colder weather.

In addition to the different styles of tents for lightweight campers there are seasonal tents. Some tents are made to work better in warm weather or cold weather. There are also tents that are designed to be used in every season. It is important to not only look at the design, but also the seasons for which the tent was designed to be used for.

Your tent is often going to be the only thing between you and the elements,so its vital to choose the right one for you. Obviously the price will be a fairly large considering factor on your final choice of a lightweight campers tent, but I would suggest buying the best one that you can afford within your budget. This way it should last you for many backpacking and camping trips in the future. <bio>Click here for the best backpackers guide http://www.buytryreview.com/recommends/backpackingguide </bio>

You will find that when it comes to camping, you don't just want to sleep in an tent, but you will want to get a commercial RV and use the commercial campgrounds as an alternative camping experience. You will want to make sure that you think about the alternative camping ways to the sleeping tent. You will want to make sure that you think about some of the basic tips to camping. You will want to think about camping in a way for the traditional camping and the modern camping ways. You will find that there are many elements like the wind and the rain that could ruin a traditional camping vacation; however, it will not ruin an RV camping trip. You can go camping no matter what the weather is like.

When it comes to a tent, you will find that the windy and the rain can really put the tent to a test, however, with a newer material tent you will find that fiberglass and aluminum poles will help you to keep a good tent up, however, you will find that sometimes the tent is just not strong enough, however, you will find that the RV will hold up no matter how hard the wind and the rains come down.

Rain is something that you will find as a challenge. Even if your tent does hold up, you may find that it is not waterproof and soon leaks and such will develop. You will find that when it comes to the modern RV vacation, you won't have to worry about a thing. Even if you do end up getting a waterproof tent, you will find that it can get very stuffy. You will want to keep in mind that the tent was the wave of the future years ago; however, it is the RV or camper that is now the wave of camping trends. You will need to keep in mind that you can go camping no matter what in an RV.

It is very important that you learn about the camping options and deciding what type of camping it is that you desire for your family. You may need to go traditionally camping because of the money, however, you will want to think about modern ways of camping. <bio>Robert Carlton pens especially for http://www.alicante-spain.com , a web publication about Elche and Costa Blanca.
In prior articles we've discussed how to choose a tent based on considerations of weather and number of people that will be sleeping in it. In this article we'll look at different styles of tents.

There are many different tent styles available to choose from. Frame tents, ridge tents, dome tents, geodesic tents, vis-a-vis tents, hoop tents and touring tents.

When you see a ridge tent you'll probably immediately think of the cub scouts or of old military tents. Ridge tents are the most basic of tents. Due to their structure the most headroom is directly down the center of the tent. This tent is held down by guy ropes and pegs. They are very simple to set up.

Frame tents are the type that most camping families use. They offer much usable space inside. They are sturdy and have a sturdy frame of lightweight poles. These tents are held down by guy ropes and pegs. Some of these tents offer separate rooms making them nice for family camping trips.

Hoop tents are as implied by the name formed by a series of two or three hoops that give the tent it's structure. It forms a tunnel of sorts. These tents tend to be lightweight and very easy to set up. They are popular with backpackers and not suggested for very windy conditions. They may also require staking.

Vis-a-vis tents are very popular with family and group campers. What they do is offer separate sleeping areas on either end of the tent with a shared living space in the center, making for excellent privacy. There are two bedroom and four bedroom models.

Remember our suggestions from our prior articles. First, don't buy a tent you can't actually enter. Go to a show room, see the tent first hand. Lie down in it, stand up in it, roll a sleeping bag out in it, then think about how many will be sleeping in it. You will need more room than you think. Also, experienced campers will tell you that you can cut the number of people the manufacturer suggests will be comfortable in the tent by half. If they say it's a 4 person tent most likely it'll be most comfortable for 2 people. You also have to consider the amount of gear that you'll be taking on the trip that you'll need to stow in the tent. <bio>To learn more about tents please visit http://www.tentsusa.info </bio>

In this article, we'll go over some basic information that you need to know before you purchase a tent.

The first thing to consider when purchasing a tent is the amount of space that you require. While tents commonly advertise how many people that they can sleep, you have to take into consideration the fact that not everybody is the same size. As a general rule of thumb when estimating how big of a tent you need, you should consider 30 square feet of room for every person that will be sleeping in the tent. You're also going to need room for the supplies and food that you bring with you - be sure to make a realistic estimate when it comes to the size that you'll need. Also, you're going to want to think about the level of privacy that you and your traveling companions would need - there are tents available that feature separate rooms, allowing for a decent level of separation between travelers. In addition, you need to determine how much trouble you want to go through setting up the tent. While some involve complex systems of poles and stakes that you need to assemble, there are many different types of tents that feature collapsible poles that make putting them together a breeze.

When it comes to actually picking the individual tent that you wish to purchase, you should test it's durability while you're still in the store. Run the zippers on the tent up and down, being sure that they don't catch or break. You're also going to want to consider the quality of the material that the tent's canvas is made out of - check if it's waterproof, and feel the fabric to ensure that it's thick enough to hold for a while.

Now that you know a little more about the qualities of a tent that you need to consider, you can make a more accurate purchasing decision. <bio>Kadence Buchanan writes articles for http://outdoorstalk.net/ - In addition, Kadence also writes articles for http://igolfcentral.net/ and http://letstalkaboutbeauty.com/ </bio>

The recreational pastime of camping has always been a popular way for individuals and families to enjoy the outdoors and be in touch with nature. Camping also provides an incredible opportunity for families to leave behind the diversions of life. Often these diversions prevent families from interacting and, subsequently, prevent families from knowing each other.

One of the critical camping items, when families and individuals decide to go camping, is some type of shelter. These shelters can be recreational vehicles, trailers, tents or hammock tents.

A hammock tent is simply a traditional hammock that is utilized by the camper rather than sleeping in a sleeping bag on the ground protected from the elements by a tent. What a hammock tent is, how it is set up and its benefits are important considerations when pondering the utilization of a hammock tent.

What Is A Hammock Tent?

A traditional way for campers to be sheltered while camping outdoors was to pitch a tent and roll out a sleeping bag. Rest was then obtained by sleeping on the ground under the protection of the shelter.

A hammock tent is a piece of camping equipment that also provides rest and protection for a camper. A hammock tent is a typical hammock that is suspended between two supporting items of strength. Generally, these items are trees. To complete the design of a hammock tent an attached covering hovers over the hammock tent to protect the camper from the elements.

Because of the simplicity of constructing a hammock tent many campers choose to build their own hammock tent. However, there are more elaborate hammock tents on the market. These hammock tents are manufactured so that the protective side and ceiling are attached to the hammock tent. In addition, these hammock tents come complete with an entry system that is modeled after the construction of a traditional tent. This entry way can be sealed off using a zipper, snaps or other sealing system.

Benefits

There are many benefits that are attributed to using a hammock tent. Some of those benefits are to the environment while some of the benefits are to the camper.

Benefits to the environment include the fact that normally the hammock tent is secured between two trees. Utilizing trees has little or no affect on the exterior of the tree. However, when a tent is pitched the negative effects of that process are seen on the area where the tent is pitched.

Also, there are many benefits to the camper. For example, because the camper is suspended in the air, there are no issues with crawling insects that the camper may come in contact with if sleeping on the ground. In addition, if a tent has been pitched on the ground and the campers are unaware of a stone or other hard item, this may be cause for a poor night's sleep. Sleeping in a hammock tent alleviates the chances of sleeping on a stone or other hard surface. <bio>Ann Marier writes informative articles about many garden topics including gazebos, patios, landscaping,BarBqs and flowers at http://www.4houseandgarden.com.
What kind of canopy tent should I use for a booth at a fair or flea market?

The kind of canopy that is best for a booth at a fair or flea market is the portable canopy, a tent without sides, just a top supported by poles.

Portable canopies can be set up and taken down in just few minutes. With their open sides, the merchandise you offer can be viewed by a greater number of people.* What size camping tent do I need?

The size of camping tent that you need will depend on the number of persons that will occupy the tent. There are camping tents that are good for just one person; there are also tents for two persons. A family-size tent will accommodate four or more people, and the king-size tents will sleep as many as ten. * What types of things should I look for when renting a wedding tent?

When renting a wedding tent, you should consider: quality, design, color, size, durability, and price.

Be sure the tent you choose will accommodate the number of guests you expect to have. Also, decide whether you want an enclosed or an open tent.

* What size canopy tent would I need for a sit-down dinner of 100?

For a sit-down dinner of one hundred persons, the optimum size for a canopy tent is 30 by 60 feet. This will accommodate 100 guests comfortably. A 30 by 40 foot canopy tent will also accommodate a hundred persons but may be a bit cramped.

* How can I choose the best camping tent for my needs?

It's important that you have the right tent for the right circumstances. For this reason, many people have more than one tent. Here are some good guidelines to follow:

- Determine the purpose of the tent. If the tent will be used for family camping, consider comfort, space and ventilation. If you will be backpacking with your tent, consider weight, size and durability.

- Determine the tent's material for your needs. For instance, polyester withstands extended exposure to the sun better than other materials. However, nylon is lighter weight, and canvas is durable, but very heavy.

- Determine the style of your tent. Cabin tents are big with high ceilings and large windows. Multi-room models are also available and can provide some privacy. Dome tents are smaller, more stable and better in varying weather conditions. They are especially easy to setup and take down.

- Determine the size and weight. Ask yourself what type of activity you will be doing? How many people will need to use the tent? How much gear will you need to store inside the tent? Listed tent sizes do not include room for gear storage, so consider purchasing a larger tent for this purpose.

- Determine ease of setup. Color coding on the tent's packaging can be helpful in determing this.

- Consider the Poles. This is more important than you may think as poles can break and bend easily. Quality is important. Fiberglass poles are durable, but aluminum poles are lightweight. Again, how you will be using the tent may be a factor here.

- Consider the quality of other features including stitching and seams, zippers, window and door mesh, flooring, tie downs and stakes.

- Consider the weather. Is the tent waterproof or water resistant? Does the tent have a full coverage rain fly?

Above and beyond the tent, you should also consider a quality ground cloth underneath your tent to protect the tent floor and to keep it drier and cleaner. It may also help keep the tent warmer. This should be about the same shape as your tent or slightly smaller. <bio>Christian Asjes is editor of http://www.canopyart.com, the online Canopy guide.
When choosing an ultralight backpacking tent there are several factors to take into consideration but I think that a couple of the main ones are obviously size and weight. Ok so you want the lightest tent you can find simply because you have to carry it around with you all day long, so the lighter the better. But don't forget that you also have to sleep in it, often in conditions that are far from ideal e.g. wind, rain, snow, and anything else that the weather can throw at you.

There's no point in buying the smallest lightest tent possible only to find that there is no room to put all your gear, so it's left outside in the rain. On the other hand you do not want to be lugging around a heavy 2/3 man tent with you.

Your tent is often going to be the only thing between you and the elements, so it's vital to choose the right one for you and your style of backpacking. There are many ultralight backpacking tents on the market, some just large enough for a person to lie down in, and some so small that you can't sit up in them. I have used these tents on several occasions and found them fine for short weekend trips especially if like me you carry an ultralight tarp and walking pole so you can erect a handy sized awning over the front of the tent to give you some extra room for cooking etc.

Ok so you may think that taking a tarp and tent is a bit silly but it only adds slightly to your overall weight and its well worth it, and most people carry at least one walking pole on a hiking trip these days. Also if you are blessed with some fine weather you don't even need to put up your tent but just use your tarp on its own.

On my last backpacking trip around Dartmoor I was gone for 19 days and I had with me a small one man tent and this was absolutely fine for the type of trip I had planned, just stopping one night in any one place. But during the first week I had trouble with an old knee injury and had to find a campsite to stay for a few nights (something I try not to do as I prefer wild camping when possible.) This became very uncomfortable after a couple of nights as I found that instead of packing equipment away after use it was easier to leave it in the tent which soon became very cluttered leaving less room for me and making the tent feel even smaller. So remember that a extra few ounces for a slightly larger tent can make all the difference when it comes to comfort.

Sadly I suppose the biggest consideration when choosing a backpacking tent is going to be the cost. All I can say is to buy the best one you can with your budget and remember that you are buying something that hopefully you will have for a long time, so make sure that:

- It fits you - You feel comfortable in it - It's up to the job you want it for - Lastly whatever tent you decide to buy in the end don't leave it in its bag at the back of the cupboard,

Then all you have to do is get it out, use it and enjoy it! <bio>Mike Legg is a seasoned hiker with many years experience of backpacking in Europe.
When you go camping, if there is one thing that is essential to a perfect camping trip, it is certainly your tent. The choices for picking out a tent may seem endless, so to choose the right one for you, below are a few recommendations. From considering the size of the tent to its material, these tips will help you narrow down which tent will be most suited for your trip.

First, you need to consider how many people will be staying in the tent. If you are traveling by yourself, then a single person tent should be fine for your needs.

However if you travel with your entire family, you may need a tent that has sufficient capacity for many additional people to sleep, and even some "rooms" in which to hang out. All tents should clearly state how many people can fit comfortably in them to help you avoid the packed-in-like-sardines syndrome.

Second, look at where and when you plan to go camping. Depending on the season, you may actually need a different type of tent. There are many tents designed for at least three seasons, and some that are specifically geared toward only one.

Consider also whether you will be carrying this tent in a backpack or hiking with it. That issue alone may change your preference for the size or weight of your tent.

Third, factor in your overall budget. Tents can be very pricey once you start to get into the larger sized options. If you need to remain within a smaller budget, avoid the temptation to look at huge tents that have added rooms, such as screened in sections and skylights. They may make you drool, but if you don't have the funds, avert your eyes.

Pup tents are the most budget friendly, but are of course very small. There are tents, fortunately, that compromise somewhere between the bare minimum and luxury.

Finally, as mentioned earlier, consider the weight of the tent. Even some of the larger tents come in lighter weights so you can hike and carry it at the same time without too much exertion. They fold down relatively easily but may be bulky or heavy, so you need to determine the most convenient means of transporting the tent to your site. The larger tents are best brought by car, whereas 2-person tents are normally fine for hiking.

By evaluating the tent material used for your particular camping season - as well as whether it offers any amenities such as mesh panels - you can more easily locate and purchase a tent that will truly suit your purposes.

Take the time to find just the right kind of tent because you will need it to protect yourself from the elements and give you the comfort you need to enjoy a great camping trip.

Though it may not be so obvious when all goes well, your tent serves as a critical part of your overall camping experience. A tent that is too small, leaks, absorbs a lot of heat in the summer or has other functional deficiencies can quickly ruin an otherwise enjoyable weekend. Don't let that happen to you.<bio>For practical RV and camping readiness information, please visit www.rv-camping-preparation.com, a popular site providing great insights concerning issues that help you with camping, and buying that RV you've dreamed of.</bio>

Camping is one of the most popular recreational activities. Such is a perfect idea if you want a whole new adventure to share with your family and friends. However, before you set out for your camping site, the first thing that you ought to do is to prepare all the amenities and equipment that you will need for your most awaited activity. In the case of camping, the primary gear that you need is a tent.

There is a wide variety of choices when it comes to choosing a camping tent. The best way to find the perfect tent depends on your specific needs for the actual camping activity. Below are some tips that you ought to consider when picking the perfect camping tent:

a. Before you buy a tent, make sure that you are well aware of your purpose. Determine how and where you will be using your tent. If you will use the tent for a family camping, you should consider the space that it provides. Will the space be enough for your family? Also consider the ventilation and the comfort that it can offer. In case you are going to use the tent for backcountry camping, you should also consider the size and weight.

b. Mull over the type of material that is used for the tent. Make sure that it matches your camping style. If you are bound to camp in places where you will be exposed to too much sunlight, choose tents made out of polyester. If you want a lightweight tent that's perfect for camping activities after a long hike, opt for those that are made of nylon. However, if you prioritize durability above anything else, choose something that's made out of canvass.

c. You should also choose a tent style that fits your needs and qualifications. Basically, there are two styles available -- the cabin and the dome. Cabin styled tents have huge windows and high ceilings. They are technically bigger than Dome styled tents and they often come in multi-room varieties. As for the Dome styled tents, these tents are a lot smaller than cabin styled tents but they are more suitable for varying weather conditions.

d. Before you buy a tent, consider the number of people that will be using it. Take in consideration the various activities that will be made inside the tent. If you are planning to store gear and other equipment inside the tenth, consider a lager tent in parallel with the number of people who will be sleeping in it. Keep in mind that most tent sizes do not have storage space for you gears.

e. You should also consider the ease of set up especially if you are a beginner or if you are gong to camp alone. If you are not familiar of how tents are usually set, opt for those which have clear instructions and illustrations. Try to find tents that offer color codes as guides for the set up.

f. Choose the tent which has the best quality. Check the poles. Note that those that are made of fiberglass are highly durable but aluminum poles are more lightweight. Do not forget to check the stitches and the seams, the zippers, stakes, windows, door mesh, and the ground cloth.<bio>Springfields Army Surplus store is a leading online store for camping equipment.
Whether you have the average 2.5 kids, or a tribe as big as the Brady Bunch, there is a tent that will meet your families' needs. In fact, these days there are so many tents on the market that you can go from the simple one-person variety to the much larger Taj Mahal's that quite literally accommodate double-figure families.

If you are looking to buy a family tent, there are a number of things you should consider. Firstly, you will need to decide on the capacity of your tent. For instance, even though there may only be four members in your family, your kids might want to invite friends on holidays. Grandma and Grandpa might also want to join you. Making sure you have enough room allows you to handle any eventualities and any extras that might tag along!

If you are planning to hike with your family, you will need to find a tent that is lightweight enough to carry. On the other hand, if you intend to go camping at a site that is accessible by car, you are able to take a much larger, heavier style of tent.

As with all camping equipment, your tent should be built to withstand extreme weather conditions, not least of all rain and strong winds. Be sure to inspect the design, fabric, quality of the poles and fasteners, since all these features play an important part in withstanding rain and severe winds. Indeed when it comes to fabric, be sure to choose a material that is strong and durable, and insist upon seams that double sewn are 'taped' to prevent leaks in rainy weather. As far as fabric goes, your choices typically include cotton, polyethylene, nylon and rip-stop nylon. Whichever fabric you opt for, make sure it is breathable, waterproof, fire-resistant and UV protected.

The quality of the floor is also an often overlooked matter, so ensure your tent's floor is made of waterproof polyurethane coated fabric that will withstand natural delamination.

Last but not least, make sure your tent is easy to erect. No matter how impressive or well-decked out your tent may be, it needs to be simple and quick to pitch, otherwise you will waste your precious holiday time surrounded by poles, pins and fabric.

Whether you go on to select awnings, vestibules or additional features, make sure you get the basics listed above! After all, your family will thank you for getting ideal tent. <bio>Robert Coram writes for http://www.tentshopping.com a website packed with advice on how to chose the right tent. </bio>

Whoever you are, whatever your walk of life, camping is a brilliant way to spend your weekends and vacations. After all, camping truly does let you get away from it all. When you are hiking deep in the forest, or fishing by a lake, there are no phones ringing off the hook, or deadlines to meet. On a camping expedition, you are totally free of the pressures and stresses of modern life.

Whether you are a newcomer to camping, or a seasoned 'old hand' having the right equipment is critical to enjoying your time in the great outdoors. Choosing the right tent is one of the most important decisions you can make when outfitting yourself for camping.

Before you shop for your new tent, there are a number of things to consider. Firstly, the type of tent you will need varies according to the number of people you are planning to house, and what activity you are involved in. Tents come in a range of sizes, from single person tents, to very large multi-person varieties. If you are planning to hike, you will need to carry your tent whilst you walk, so a small, light weight tent will be required. If you intend to pitch your campsite at a fixed location accessible by car, you could opt for a larger, heavier weight model.

Another consideration will be the season and weather conditions that you expect to encounter. Each tent is designed to maintain a high level of human comfort in a specific type of environment, so you need to be clear whether you will be camping in the winter or summer, mild or inclement weather.

Other factors to consider are the strength of both the structure and the material of your tent. For instance, you can opt for cotton, polyethylene, nylon, rip-stop nylon, double sewn seams, and heavy-duty zippers. Whatever the fabric, your tent must be fit to stand extreme weather, even if you are not expecting to encounter poor conditions. Be sure to buy one that is totally seam taped to avoid leaking in the rain.

Ideally you should select a tent that meets all these requirements, and is easy to erect and deconstruct as well. After all, you want to spend your time enjoying the wilderness, not spending hours pitching a tent!

Talking to staff at your local outdoor outfitting store is a good start to finding the perfect tent for you. <bio>Peter Mack writes for http://www.tents-advice.com, a website packed with articles and resources about choosing the right tent </bio>

When you think of a tent, what is the first image that you get? A quiet serene setting in the woods by a lake on a camping trip with friends? That is what millions of people think of when it comes to tents. It is the perception that millions of people have. However, these days, tents are used for many other functions other then camping.

Believe it or not, tents have come a long way since their first use hundreds of years ago.

In the past, tents were often big and bulky and very awkward to carry. They were cumbersome and that deterred people from really enjoying the hike to the campsite.

Over the years, tents have been redesigned many times. New materials were used to make them lightweight and easy to carry; metal tent poles were replaced by nearly unbreakable plastic, and the tent itself is now made of water resistant materials keeping the occupants warm and dry.

Tents are now used for many different functions. They still serve as the best protection when camping in the woods; however, consumers have found creative uses for them other than camping.

Family functions and other outdoor events have always been held outdoors in the warmer seasons. The problem with this is that those who could not tolerate too much sun would often end up leaving early or be faced with sun-damaged skin.

Huge open sided tents were used to combat this problem while providing a shaded area for those who would suffer the most from the effects of the sun. It was an ingenious idea. The tents could be set up just about anywhere. Back yards, in the woods, and even on the beach allowing everyone to enjoy whatever function they were attending. Tents are also used at outdoor events such as flea markets and barbeques.

Today, one of the greatest benefits is that these tents come in a variety of sizes. You can find one that holds two or two hundred.

A big problem that may consumers had been setting up the tent. You would have to literally put it together like a puzzle. The poles and the tent were challenging enough, however when it came to staking the tent, often times, the whole thing would just fall apart.

With the evolution of tents, this is no longer a problem. Tents have become a staple for anyone who travels. Even those who are technically challenged are able to set up a tent in mere minutes.

Indeed, tents have come a long way since the first ones hundred of years ago were blankets hung on brush to protect the inhabitants from inclement weather. Today, there are even tents that do not require staking of any kind and for a shaded area, consumers are able to set up a tent by attaching it to their car using magnets and weighted feet to keep them secure. These types of tents are great for those who take day trips or also RV owners who travel extensively.<bio>Peter Geisheker is the CEO of The Geisheker Group marketing company.
Shelter is critical when camping out of doors. You need protection from the elements, as well as the local creatures and insects. Your shelter needs to be portable, lightweight, and if you are mindful of environmental impacts, leave little to no trace of your stay. An ideal choice for you is a hammock tent. Hammock tents are becoming a preferred portable shelter for campers and backpackers who want maximum comfort while enjoying nature's beauty.

What's a Hammock Tent?

Traditionally campers are sheltered from the outdoor elements by pitching a tent and rolling out a sleeping bag inside it on the ground. A hammock tent is just a conventional hammock suspended in air with the addition of a protective covering or tarp that is used for sleeping and shelter. You could use a regular hammock (without the spreader bars) and suspend a tarp over it using cords and stakes; or buy one of the many fine hammock tents on the market.

These hammock tents are manufactured so that the protective covers are attached to the hammock. You can buy them with mosquito netting as well as rain protection. Hammock tents have an entry system similar to that of a regular tent. The entry can be closed using a zipper, Velcro or other closure system.

Hammock Tent Benefits

There are many benefits in using a hammock tent. Hammock camping fans enthuse that hammocks don't damage the environment like a traditional campsite. Hammock tents are generally secured between two trees. Correctly fastened, there is little or no marking on the trees' bark. In contrast, when conventional tents are pitched and bags are rolled out their negative impacts and impressions are seen on the area.

The camper benefits as well from the hammock tent. Because you're suspended in the air, there are no problems with crawling insects, small animals or pests as when sleeping on the ground. Sleeping in a hammock tent lessens the risk of sleeping uncomfortably on a hard or otherwise rocky surface. In fact hammocks enable you to "pitch" your "tent" where many conventional camping tents could never be set up. Then there's the near-legendary comfort of a hammock.

There are reports that it's harder to stay warm in a hammock tent because the materials are so lightweight and thin. You may wish to use the hammock tent for warm weather camping only; or try some of the solutions devised by campers such as using a closed cell foam pad inside the hammock for insulation. You might even use your old sleeping bag as a quilt top.

Once you try a hammock tent, you may decide to give up your conventional tent and sleeping bag altogether. <bio>Writer and author Zenzele Adwin enjoys outdoor living.
Back in the day, you will find that your only option for camping was a campfire and a tent or sleeping bag, however, you will find that camping is a great option for those who have a family. You will find that there are over a dozen local sites that will offer you cozy sleeping accommodations. Although you may find that the tent is still a great choice for camping, you will find that the tent has now developed into something more than just a tent. You can rooms and plenty of space for the whole family in just one tent. You will also find that when it comes to internal frame tents you will be able to quickly and without hassle assemble the tent. You will also notice that these types of modern tents are not just like the tents your parents took you camping with. These are made from strong nylon and you'll find that they have plenty more to offer the modern camper.

Keep in mind that tents are not just your only option. You will find that there are some SUVs that now have plenty of seating arrangements and possibilities that you will be able to fold down the seats and get comfortable. Don't forget that you can always bring an inflatable bed or some type of thin mattress so that you can sleep comfortably. These mattresses are great to have for those who don't want to sleep on the ground either.

Then there is the RV or recreational vehicle that makes camping the most exciting. It is a home away from home and it provides a lot of protection from the wild, but yet is more comfortable then any tent. You will be able to use running water, propane, electricity, A/C, and some even have movable awnings so that you can have a compact RV, but not feel compact.

Although there are lot of modern ways to go camping, you will find that they can be very costly too. You will need to think about all the luxury that you could have, but think about the luxury that you can afford. <bio>Concentrating on the area of La Manga, Clinton Maxwell publishes principally for http://www.alicante-spain.com .
Our first trailer was a pop up tent trailer. It was our first step into the RV life. We quickly learned the ins and outs of a traveling with a pop up tent. We had great fun in our pop up tent trailer and traveled many miles. It was just not suited for what we do on vacation. It was easy to take to places we could never have gone with our travel trailer and the gas costs were not nearly as ghastly as running a big truck that pulls a big trailer.

If you use a tent trailer for camping and stay in one place for several days they are a great addition to the camping experience. You have a small fridge that runs on battery, gas, or electric. You have a cooking area an indoor table and sink. They are easy to pull and can go be towed by less expensive vehicles with smaller engines. They will go where big trailers would never could on back roads. What else could you need for that purpose? In my mind the tent pop up campers are just that, campers. They are wonderful for camping but not long for long distances and daily traveling.

If you take your pop up tent out of the camping setting and start traveling across the country you start to understand several things about tent trailers. You have little space for supplies for long trips, you must move all your supplies you can carry to the storage areas inside and to the floor, and you will have to set up and put down your camper at every RV Park every day you travel.

Some of the new larger models now have a bath room but most are only shower curtains and not doors or real enclosures. Some RV Parks charge for a shower and we have been charged up to three dollars a person a day for showers and the bathrooms. Not all parks are this expensive but any extra charge takes away from your vacation money.

This means you will not be able to reach supplies beyond the door when the tent trailer is down and you better remember your medications or any supplies you need from the inside the trailer daily. It may only take several minutes to put up your tent and unless you have done this in a down poor with wind whipping at your heels you can not appreciate the meaning of wet.

When in a storm the inside of the tent can condense moisture on the tent portion of the inside and have the same problems you would get in a normal tent. You will have gas heater but you will still have cold outside air that creates condensation. The heater works fairly well but it is a tent and there will cold air that comes coming inside and the person sleeping on the outer side can become cool in a windy night. In some areas of the country we have stayed, we have wondered if we would blow away or tip over in the strong winds. You can watch the top portion of the tent move in the wind.

I will add that in an RV Park you are packed in close and in a tent type camper you hear every noise made all night long. I might add that they hear every noise you make as well. We always had movies at night and the radio going in the day time. <bio>Betty and her husband are outdoor enthusiasts that teach classes on outdoor activities.
Choosing the right camping tents for your trip is very essential to the enjoyment of the trip. Tents can be of many uses during a camping trip that include the provision of protection from bad weather conditions but are not limited to only this. They may also provide protection from other dangers from animals as well as insects that can be vectors for many viruses that can endanger the live of humans.

When choosing the right camping tents there are many considerations that have to be taken into account. These include the weather conditions for the areas that the trip is going to take place in. The weather is not predictable but all aspects must be considered. Waterproof tents are ideally the best type of tent to purchase. They provide protection against most types of bad weather and are closed on the sides. Although they are normally better for weather protection they not a personal choice of many as many persons prefer the fresh air enjoyment provided by open air tents.

The consideration of the types of insects and animals around should also govern the type of camping tents chosen. There are many dangerous insects such as mosquitoes that can carry dangerous viruses and animals such as snakes that can be poisonous. Camping in wilderness areas is common for many backpackers and a sealed tent offers more protection. There are other means of protection such as repellants for mosquitoes but these may not be as effective in the night as a sealed tent. There are also tents on the market today that provide protection by the presence of nets over the doorways to allow some ventilation and fresh air.

The time of the year that the camping trip is taking place is another important consideration. This means for summer trips there is the need for protection from rainfall and winter trips a barrier from the cold. There are camping tents available that can be used for more than one season and these are wise investments for the avid camper. Persons who only camp during certain times of the year may want to choose a tent specifically for those conditions.

For long trips the camping tents considered should be lightweight but durable. The lighter the tent the better for these trips as weight becomes an important factor when traveling long distances. If weight is not a consideration the larger the tent the better and the more comfortable the tent will be. This is as it can also provide storage for other equipment and avoid loss of equipment due to water damage and other factors. When purchasing any camping tent it is vital that the factors mentioned be considered and that the best quality tent that can be purchased according to your budget be bought. Quality is essential as a poor quality tent can bring more problems than no tent at all. <bio>Tents HQ http://tentshq.com/ offers articles and tips about different tents and camping. </bio>
