Basketball is becoming one of the favorite sports of people all throughout the globe. Unlike other sports, basketball is relatively easy to understand. The popularity of the sport led to the formation of the Basketball Hall of Fame. The honor is given to those who have made exceptional contribution to the sport.
One significant character who has been given such honor is Robert Allen McAdoo. His induction in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame happened in 2000.

Before he joined the NBA, McAdoo attended Vincennes Junior College and the University of North Carolina. He already played for the two schools back then. McAdoo led the Tar Heels in the National semifinals. However, they lost to the Florida State.

He qualified for the 1972 NBA draft. He started his career in the National Basketball Association in 1972 when the Buffalo Braves drafted him. He stayed with the team, now the Los Angeles Clippers, for five years until 1977. When he joined the league, he made his presence known by winning the Rookie of the Year award in 1973. He also won the Most Valuable Player award in 1975. He made the NBA All-Star five consecutive times from 1974 to 1978.

During his first few years, he became one of the best big men shooters in the league. In his second season in the NBA, he bagged three shooting titles. In the mid seventies, many basketball enthusiasts would name him as the fastest big man who ever played in the NBA.

However, there were also some down moments in his career. He was injured several times and fans and experts felt that he had only given a mediocre performance.

Many thought that his time has ended in the mid seventies. Many blame this to the other teams he joined. Most of the teams that welcomed him were not among the dominant teams at that time. He played for the New York Knicks after leaving the Braves in 1977. He played for the Boston Celtics in 1979. After that, he played for the Detroit Pistons and New Jersey Nets in 1980 and 1981 respectively.

However, it was not until he joined the LA Lakers that he tasted what it felt like to win NBA titles. He played for the Lakers from 1981 to 1985. Together with other great players, the team earned two NBA titles, one in 1982 and the other in 1985.

After great seasons with the Lakers, he joined the Philadelphia 76ers and played there for a year. From his first team, the Los Angeles Clippers, McAdoo played his last NBA season with the 76ers. However, he did not stop playing basketball.

He played for some European teams after the NBA. In 1990, he played for Olimpia Milano. He led the team in two European Championships. He retired after playing for Teamsystem Fabriano in 1993.

Although there were some point in his career where he felt defeated, McAdoo was able to prove his greatness over and over again. This and more, made him worthy to be part of the Basketball Hall of Fame.<bio>Rick Grantham is an expert on sports equipment, specially on Los Angeles Clippers Merchandise for more information on NBA Merchandise, visit BooYah Village.</bio>

The Spurs is the only major professional sports team that calls the city of San Antonio their home. For this special honor, the residents of San Antonio shower their "boys" with praise and attention. In return, the Spurs team delivers an entertaining season and also gives back to the community. This is quite evident through the efforts and endeavors associated with influential personalities, such as David Robinson (Carver Academy) and George Gervin (Youth Center).

It is believed that the impressive community involvement from players greatly contributes to creating one of the most loyal fan bases within the NBA. This fact is also obvious through the attendance records that the team set when they called the Astrodome their home court. They also broke records for having one of the biggest crowds in history during the 1999 NBA Finals. Now, they play in the ATandT Center and continue to regularly sell out seats.

Another unique bond that the city and team have with one another showcases one of the most important forms of respect. When celebrating championship runs or significant milestones within the sporting world, the residents of San Antonio march up and down the streets, honking horns and spreading pride with little disruption. When it comes to rejoicing after a Spurs-title win, a major riot has yet to take place.

Throughout the years, San Antonio has had a lot to be happy about. They have sent three players to the Basketball Hall of Fame: George Gervin, Moses Malone, and Dominique Wilkins. The first of these basketball greats inducted into the Hall of Fame was George Gervin, who was nicknamed the "Iceman" during his career. In 1996, his outstanding run with the Spurs left him retiring with the second-most blocks of any guard in the NBA.

In 2001, Moses Malone was inducted into the Hall of Fame. By the end of his career, his longevity in the game sent him playing with two members of the Berry family (Rick in Houston; 1979 and 1980) and his son (Jon in Milwaukee; 1992 and 1993). The last of the current Hall of Famers is Dominique Wilkins, who in 2006 was inducted after leading an NBA career filled with major scoring and dunking accolades. <bio>Looking to invest in San Antonio real estate? http://www.satxproperty.com Agente de Bienes Raices en San Antonio Texas http://www.satxproperty-sp.com </bio>

NFL greats Troy Aikman and the late Reggie White headlined a full class of six inductees into this year's Pro Football Hall of Fame that was announced last February. It was called the most emotional announcement of a Pro Football Hall of Fame class in history. The formal induction ceremony of the class into the Hall of Fame will be on August 5.

The other members of this year's class are Harry Carson, John Madden, Warren Moon and Rayfield Wright. With six people being inducted this year, this class is also the biggest ever inducted since 2001.

Aikman was once renowned as the NFL's golden boy and one of the greatest quarterbacks of his era. He led the Dallas Cowboys to three Super Bowl titles in the 1990s. Today, Aikman is a television sportscaster for the Fox network and a joint owner of the NASCAR Nextel Cup racing team, Hall of Fame Racing, along with fellow former Cowboys quarterback, Roger Staubach.

White, nicknamed the andquot;Minister of Defense, andquot; was one of football's most prolific sackers ever, either in college, the USFL and the NFL.. White also earned his nickname as reference to his Evangelical Christian ordination. He died suddenly in 2004 after suffering a fatal cardiac arrhythmia caused by the sarcoidosis he had lived with for years. During the 2005 season, three teams retired White's number 92 jersey.

Moon became the first African-American quarterback to ever be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Before him, no other African-American quarterback even got close to induction. Aikman and Moon followed Dan Marino, Steve Young and John Elway in a string of great quarterbacks to make the Hall in their first tries.

andquot;To be the first African-American quarterback into the Hall of Fame, all African-American QBs who played before me should share in this,andquot; Moon said. andquot;I don't want to make this a racial thing, but I think it is significant. It shows that we have arrived at the pinnacle of our sport.andquot;

And, of course, there is Madden, the coach-broadcaster-video game entrepreneur who holds the record for the best winning percentage of any NFL coach with 100 victories (.759). He coached the Oakland Raiders for 10 years and won the 1977 Super Bowl. <bio>Jonathon Hardcastle writes articles for http://footballorbust.com/ - In addition, Jonathon also writes articles for http://igolfcentral.net/ and http://universeofentertainment.com/ </bio>

All you wrestling fans out there who aren't quite sure what to do for their next vacation should plan a visit to Oklahoma City. That's because the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum is located in Oklahoma City and it is a must see for anyone who enjoys wrestling. Here you will learn about wrestling's past, its present, and the plans for the future.

It is such an educational trip not to mention enjoyable that individuals who aren't that big on wrestling will probably even enjoy it. There really is a lot to learn because the sport of wrestling did not begin with the WWF - WWE. Instead, the sport had a much more modest beginning and the museum celebrates this as well as all the leaps and bounds the sport has made in popularity since.

When you head to the museum make sure you plan on arriving Monday through Friday 9 am until 4:30 pm or else by appointment on the weekends. Within the Museum you will see the Paul K. Scott Museum of Wrestling History, the John T. Vaughan Hall of Honors, Gable/Smith Room, FILA International Hall of Fame, William S. Heins Jr. Library, Cliff Keen Theater, as well as others. You will learn so much about wrestling that you never knew before when you visit the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.

When you visit Oklahoma City you will also find many other things to enjoy. You can play golf, go shopping, enjoy seeing professional sports games, and even more. Oklahoma City is the most populous city in the state of Oklahoma so there are lots of things for tourists to do and see here.
What is NASCAR? It stands for National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing. They are a sanctioning body that evaluates the various stock car racing in the US. NASCAR is one of the most popular sports today in the US. One of the reasons why its popularity boomed is because of media exposure. The top three racing series the association sanctions are the Craftsman Truck Series, Nationwide Series, and Sprint Cup.

The sport has also made celebrities out of their car drivers. Among the most famous riders NASCAR has is Dale Earnhardt Jr. He started his car-racing career at the young age of 17. Now he races in the Sprint Cup Series. His father conquered this same series in his years. For five consecutive years, he received the NASCAR Most Popular Driver award from 2003 to 2007. Fans are responsible for choosing the recipient for this award.

You can say that racing is in the blood of Earnhardt Jr. He has close relatives who are also driving other racing series. Others have business related to NASCAR. One of the most noted Earnhardt is Ralph, his grandfather. He started a long lineage of car racers in his family.

Ralph Earnhardt is a legend in the sport. He won his only NASCAR Sportsmanship Award in 1956. However, various groups in the industry have recognized his contributions. National Motorsports Press Association inducted him to the Hall of Fame in 1989. In 1997, the International Motorsports Hall of Fame did the same. The Oceanside Rotary Club of Daytona Beach Stock Car Racing Hall of Fame inducted him in 2004. Finally, in 2007, National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame inducted him.

Dale's father, Ralph's son also became a racecar driver. Ralph wanted his son to take on a different path. However, Dale Sr. was determined to follow into his father's footsteps. He dropped out from school and pursued his dream.

He became successful in the Winston Cup Series, now known as the Sprint Cup. In 1979, he became the Rookie of the Year for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. He became a champion in the series for seven years. The Motorsports Hall of Fame inducted him in 2002. In addition, the International Motorsports hall of Fame inducted him in 2006.

It was evident that someone from his kids would assume his role. As it turned out, he did not only influence Dale Earnhardt Jr. but his other oldest son Kerry Dale as well. Although Kerry did not spend a lot of time with his father while he was growing up, he ended up doing the sport his father loved. Racing is probably strong in Earnhardt blood, because his son, Jeffrey, also began racing in 2007.

Jeffrey Earnhardt was impressive at Wythe Raceway, Hornet Division. Here, he won the Rookie of the Year award. He also made it to the General Motors' search for the next best thing in the car-racing field. In 2007, he competed in the Busch East Series where he placed fifth. By the end of the season, he won the Most Popular Driver award.<bio>Rick Grantham is an expert on sports equipment, specially on Dale Earnhardt Jr Merchandise for more information on NASCAR Merchandise, visit BooYah Village.</bio>

UCLA basketball tickets have long been special for many, many reasons. When you think of sports dynasties, you think of Lombardi's Packers, Auerbach's Celtics, the Yankees of several eras and the Montreal Canadiens. Wooden's Bruins can stand up to every one of them and then some. Listing all of the legendary players of UCLA lore would be too numerous for this forum, but rest assured that an entire wing of the Hall of Fame could be filled with UCLA alumni.

However, in recent decades, the Bruins, compared to the almost unattainable standard history had set, was not achieving at their historic levels. They did break through for an NCAA title in 1995, but other than that, Westwood's trophy case has not had any recent additions in recent times.

That could all be changing right before our eyes, as the 2007 Bruins are beginning to look like the great Bruin teams of old. They advanced all the way to the NCAA Final last year before losing a tough game to Florida, and so far this season, it looks as though they haven't missed a beat. There are reasons for this resurgence, and we'll examine a couple of them below.

Ben Howland

When Howland took over at UCLA in 2003, the Bruins had officially fallen on hard times. They had become one of those teams that always seemed to recruit well, but they were at best a hit-or-miss bubble team for the NCAA Tournament. UCLA basketball tickets were actually quite easy to find for most games, and the Bruin faithful were down in the dumps.

Howland came aboard and instilled several things that the program had been missing. The first element was discipline. Howland's teams never give a game away, and that was a hallmark of his teams at Pittsburgh before he came to Westwood. He also put together a roster that actually played hard-nosed defense, which was not something UCLA had been known for in recent years.

There were even whispers that UCLA was "soft," and that was unacceptable for everyone involved with the program.

The Right Kind of Talent

Under Howland, the program stopped simply chasing all the five-star recruits it could gather and began to build a team that together would become a unit that covered all the moving parts a successful squad needs. They added scoring and athleticism, of course, but they also added defense, rebounding, guards that could dribble and distribute, and several role players who take care of all the "little" things that win games in the end but may not show up on the stat sheet.

What it All Means

What this all means is that with the talent, consistency and stability that once again exists at UCLA, the team will be able to sell its own tradition and history to recruits, and it's beginning to look like every year should be one when UCLA should contend for the Final Four. The fans in Westwood wouldn't expect anything less, and UCLA basketball tickets are once again nearly impossible to find. <bio>Written by Jay Nault, sponsored by http://www.stubhub.com/ . StubHub sells UCLA basketball tickets: http://www.stubhub.com/ucla-basketball-tickets/ sports tickets, concert tickets, theater tickets and more to just about any event in the world. </bio>

Basketball is a favorite pastime of kids and adults alike. American kids grow up with dreams of earning scholarships and reaching fame in the college league.

Basketball owes its origin to Dr. James Naismith, who invented the sport in 1892. Before long, the popularity of the game caught on and it was being played in American colleges. The first official game involving a college team was played between Geneva College and the New Brighton YMCA in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania on April 8, 1893. On February 9, 1895, the first intercollegiate game was played between the Minnesota State School of Agriculture and Hamline College. Minnesota won that game, 9 to 3.

The introduction of the five-player format was the next major college basketball milestone. This happened during an intercollegiate game in Iowa City on January 18, 1896. By the early 1900s, the basketball was being played in ninety colleges, mostly in the East and Midwest. This number continued to swell, and by 1914 as many as 360 colleges were playing college basketball.

In 1915, the Amateur Athletic Union of the United States, the NCAA and the YMCA banded together to streamline the game. A committee was organized to frame rules and during this time, a number of regional conferences were formed.

The first NCAA Men's College Basketball Championship tournament was organized by the National Association of Basketball Coaches and held in Evanston in 1939. A crowd of 5,500 cheering basketball fans watched the University of Oregon with the game. After this, the NCAA took over the national basketball championship tournament, and another college basketball milestone was realized.

In 1940, college basketball made it to the small screen. The first televised college game was played between Pittsburgh and Fordham at Madison Square Garden. This was the beginning of a national obsession with basketball and since then, the game has drawn huge crowds. The most-watched event in the United States is March Madness, when nearly 350 American colleges come together to compete for the NCAA basketball crown.

The NCAA tournament had relatively humble beginnings, with just eight teams competing against each other representing each of the eight NCAA districts. In 1951 the number of teams doubled to sixteen. In this format, ten conference champions qualified automatically, while the remaining six teams were chosen on the basis of their performance. In 1954, the number of teams went up to 24, and a 32-team bracket was adopted in 1975. Further increases saw the number of teams jump to 48 in 1980, and to 64 in 1985.

Over the years, college basketball has gone through remarkable changes. Many players have showcased their talents on campus courts and risen to become basketball superstars, and most NBA stars trace their origins to college basketball.

More than 120 years after it was first invented, the game of basketball is more popular than ever. Who knows what college basketball milestones lay ahead? <bio>Daniel Thomas contributes to several online magazines, such as http://bivec.com and http://kesaw.com </bio>

A look at the overall health of Kentucky basketball should tell us if fans can expect the team to regain its expected form, or if these expectations are simply unrealistic.

Historical Context

Kentucky is considered by some, most of those being Kentucky fans, to be the most successful college basketball program of all time. The Wildcats have won nearly 2,000 games overall and seven NCAA championships as of this writing. The team has had a slew of All Americans and Hall of Fame coaches, and many in the area consider Kentucky to be the gold standard by which all over programs are measured.

Although there's no way to quantitatively decide who really is the "best" program ever, and fans of North Carolina, Duke and UCLA would all have strong opinions of their own on the subject, the fact remains that expectations in Lexington are always sky-high. Kentucky basketball tickets are always used with the expectation of watching a team that should contend for the national title that season, and that never changes.

Current State Coach Tubby Smith was a bit of a controversial hire when he came to Lexington, but he had early success that included a national championship in his first season in 1998. However, even that didn't quell critics who claimed he won the title with someone else's players. The nucleus of the 1998 team was recruited by former coach Rick Pittino, a revered figure in the state.

Since then, statistics and results have shown that Kentucky hasn't lived up to its tradition. This fact above all others is what's adding volume to the fans' complaints.

Proposed reasons for this "slump" are many in number. Kentucky's recent recruiting classes have been seen by many as not being up to par with traditional recruiting hauls, and even opposing coaches have noted a drop off in Kentucky's overall talent level. Smith's style of play is also turning fans off, as his style is a departure from the run-and-gun teams of the mid-1990's that had so much success. Smith prides himself on defense and a deliberate pace, and that'd be fine if it resulted in championships every year, but it hasn't, so by logical result, the style is criticized.

Outlook

This is a critical season for Kentucky and Smith. The program in many ways is a victim of its own success, as every year the bar is set extremely high, but this year carries a different mandate - restore "pride" to UK basketball or else. This "pride" will only be restored with a run towards the SEC title and the Final Four. If Kentucky doesn't make it that far in the spring, the cries and howls will only grow louder, and Smith's position will only become more tenuous.

Regardless of how it all plays out, Kentucky basketball tickets will provide fans with an interesting show this season for several reasons, as things are sure to be interesting in Lexington over the winter. <bio>Written by Jay Nault, sponsored by http://www.stubhub.com/ .
Earvin Johnson Jr., known simply as "Magic" to millions of basketball fans all over the world, has been one of the NBA's best players and biggest winners. Standing 6-9, Johnson revolutionized the point guard position with his pure passing and all-around versatility.

Johnson was a winner at every level of his career, starting in high school and including college, professional and international. At Michigan State University, he injected a much-needed dose of enthusiasm and passion into the college hoops scene, eventually leading his school to the 1979 National Championship over Indiana State which was led by another legendary basketball player, Larry Bird. Bird would become Johnson's closest rival throughout their respective careers. Their college championship showdown became the most watched college basketball game in history.

Johnson later joined the Los Angeles Lakers and was their heart and soul for 13 seasons, leading them to five NBA championships. He was named to the NBA All-Star team 12 times, league MVP three times and NBA Finals MVP three times. In 2002, he was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and was voted to the NBA's 50th Anniversary All-Time Team in 1996.

In 1991, Johnson announced that he was HIV-positive and retired from the NBA. He was among the first sports celebrities and one of the most popular public figures to ever do so.

Johnson earned his nickname back in high school when he was an All-American at Everett High School in Lansing, Michigan. He was 15 at the time and he had an amazing game where he finished with 36 points, 16 rebounds and 16 assists. That inspired a local sports writer named Fred Stabley to christen Johnson as Magic. In his senior year, Johnson led Everett to the state championship (27-1 win-loss record).

When he entered the NBA in 1979, the league suffered from a poor image and was ranked third in popularity behind the NFL and MLB. But Johnson's rivalry with Bird, who had joined the Boston Celtics, revitalized the NBA. In their first three years in the league, the duo produced two championships -- two for Magic and one for Bird. Before they were done, the dynamic duo would have eight NBA championships between them -- five for Magic and three for Bird. <bio>Jonathon Hardcastle writes articles for http://esportssource.net/ - In addition, Jonathon also writes articles for http://everythingaboutgames.net/ and http://moviestelevisionandmore.com/ </bio>

If you really want to make a difference in the lives of youngsters, one must try coaching youth basketball. Well I gave it a shot, and boy am I excited about the whole thing. There are several places that will teach you how to coach youth basketball, from charities to workshops to who knows what else. My experience with youth basketball coaching begins for over a year now, and there has never been a more fulfilling experience in my life thus far. However don't take my word alone for it, cause you should give youth basketball coaching a try to believe it.

The wonderful thing about youth basketball coaching is you can with minimal experience or background in sports, be the one to keep children away from harmful and dangerous influences in their lives. It is a creepy world out there with crime, drugs, and all manner of other temptations which plague our youth nowadays. Why, when I was a kid, we did not even know what drugs were. But nonetheless, using youth basketball coaching especially when working with a good, well organized community center, you can help out kids to say no to crime, drugs, and any other bad or destructive influences in their lives. You have to see it to believe it. The difference it makes is amazing.

At times I do not understand why my work with youth basketball coaching has helped so much for kids, but they have recounted all about it themselves. It is a fact. I have a kid -- Mikey who signed up about when I started youth basketball coaching. Prior to joining the team, Mikey was bad news. His mother had a drug problem and he was getting drugs himself. Besides his friends was a very bad influence on him. I first decided to sign up for youth basketball coaching especially because of kids like Mikey.

I really didn't understand much about youth basketball coaching when I first got into it. Neither did I have any training. I just watched a couple of youth basketball coaching videos, and hustle to prepare for my first day as a coach. But boy was it worth it. I packed in all of those coaching aids, and soon I was directing the team like a pro. Now that I am an expert at youth basketball coaching, I'll tell you a secret. With youth basketball coaching, it does not matter where you begin, as long as you persist. <bio>Mike F. Yes, there I was standing right next to her; the former First Lady Rosalynn Carter. I was. I swear. (You can see me here: www.lauramturner.com) I'd been invited to the National Women's Hall Of Fame annual induction luncheon in Seneca Falls, New York. The best credential I'd ever earned working as a journalist. Just to be on the beat was an accomplishment, I promise you.

The Women's Hall pays tribute to females of experience, women of power, persuasion. Women from the likes of Oprah, to legends passed such as suffragist Susan B. Anthony, Rosa Parks and literary giants like Willa Cather and Eudora Welty. These Great Ladies, all two hundred seventeen of them, line the walls of the National Women's Hall. Accomplished women. Women who dared. Women who live life at the marrow.

andquot;Oh! Hello. Good afternoon, Mrs. Carter, andquot; I stammered. andquot;Congratulations on your induction, and your accomplishments, andquot; I paused. andquot;Oh and would you mind very much signing my book. Would you? Oh and my name's Laura, by the way.andquot; I swallowed hard. Smooth, right? I finally get to meet The First Lady From Plains and there's no place at all to buy a vowel.

Rosalynn Carter extended her hand. I placed the pen in her grip and gazed at her like a child opening a pop-up storybook and watching the pictures come to life. andquot;Pleased to meet you, andquot; she said.

She signed, then placed the volume and pen back into my hands. Snap!

andquot;Thank you, andquot; I said smoothing the glossy cover. Nan and I returned to our seats. The former First Lady returned to her seat. And the chicken salad was served.

About The National Women's Hall Of Fame (Reference: http://www.greatwomen.org/mission.php):

andquot; In 1969, a group of women and men of Seneca Falls created the National Women's Hall of Fame, believing that the contribution of American women deserved a permanent home in the small village where it all began. The Hall is home to exhibits, artifacts of historical interest, a research library and office. The National Women's Hall of Fame, a national membership organization, holds as its mission:

'To honor in perpetuity these women, citizens of the United States of America whose contributions to the arts, athletics, business, education, government, the humanities, philanthropy and science, have been the greatest value for the development of their country.' (Copyright 2006 National Women's Hall Of Fame)

The Hall is a shrine to some of the greatest women in the history of this country and a tribute that grows annually with each induction ceremony as we learn to appreciate more about the wonderful contributions that women make to our civilization.andquot;

To take the online tour or to learn more about the National Women's Hall of Fame, visit their website http://www.greatwomen.org <bio>Laura M.
The Horton Smith Award, established in memory of Golf Hall of Fame professional Horton Smith, recognizes outstanding contributors to golf education. One of the 2006 nominees is Eric Wilson, the director of SDGA golf school The Golf Academy of the Carolinas.

Every year, the Professional Golfers' Association (PGA) presents an outstanding contributor to golf education with the Horton Smith Award. In selecting which candidate should receive the award, the PGA analyzes each nominee's moral character, evidence of leadership skills, and the quality of instruction the nominee has contributed to a golf school or golf education program.

The Horton Smith Award honors the memory of Golf Hall of Fame professional Horton Smith. Smith is known for being one of the best putters the golf industry has known. Among his many accomplishments are the 1934 Masters, the 1936 Masters, many PGA Tour victories, and places in both the World Golf Hall of Fame and the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame. Additionally, Smith served as President of the PGA of America in the 1950s and co-authored "The Secret of Holing Putts" in the early 1960s.

Among the nominees for the 2006 Horton Smith Award is Eric Wilson, Director of SDGA golf school The Golf Academy of the Carolinas.

"It is an incredible honor to just be nominated for this award, and I feel very fortunate and thankful," Wilson says.

A professional golfer with a distinguished track record, Wilson is highly dedicated to passing on the art of golf to his students. With the motto, "Golf is a game. Play it and have fun," Wilson teaches his students to not only play golf, but also to understand the physics of the game. Wilson is also the director of South Carolina Special Olympics Golf, and has been involved in some fashion of -- whether planning, organizing, conducting, or judging --many Special Olympics golf events.

Wilson, who began his career with San Diego Golf Academy in 1996, Wilson opened the SDGA -Carolina golf school campus in 1998, where he has remained as director ever since. Wilson is part of a tradition in golf education that has spanned more than 30 years. With golf schools in San Diego, Arizona, Myrtle Beach, Orlando, and Hawaii, SDGA has given more than 5,000 students the education they need to get the golf job of their dreams. To help students get their foot in the door of an exciting golf career, the SDGA-owned golf employment company, GolFutures, successfully places more than 85% of the school's graduates in golf jobs. San Diego Golf Academy is pleased to be able to offer students instruction from outstanding golf educators, such as Eric Wilson, who are dedicated to their students' education and success. <bio>Andy West is a freelance writer and marketing communications specialist.
Picture this: Two guys stand side by side. They're both about 5'11", clear complexion, with good hair. One has scrawny arms and looks a bit bleary eyed from too much time in front of the computer. The other is muscular, tanned, and alert. Which do you think the girls will go for?

Playing a sport like basketball on a regular basis is sure to make you a better guy. There are lots of reasons, from a woman's point of view, it also makes you more attractive.

Physically Fit

A man who plays a sport like basketball often tends to be physically fit, and able to live an active lifestyle. He is strong and confident and can do things like hiking, biking, or surfing. Chances are that if he's active in one sport, he's physically able to do other things as well. He's attractive and is obviously interested in being fit.

Gets Along Well With Others

If a guy is playing basketball on a team, it's pretty safe to say that he gets along well with others. You can't play on a team and be prickly. You are somewhat sociable and can be relied upon to follow through. You are approachable and know how to talk to others (I don't mean trash talking, here!). This is a desirable trait that appeals to the ladies and makes you a better guy. Knowing how to interact with other people makes you someone that other people want to be around and spend time with.

Someone who plays basketball with others and gets along well with his teammates is likely to be able to maintain basic relationships with people outside the court as well. He can interact without behaving like a Neanderthal (most of the time) and can hold a conversation about his sport.

A basketball player is a team player, which makes him attractive to potential employers, too. Your boss wants to know that he can count on you to follow through on a project at work, and playing well on the court means that you will probably be able to pull through on the job as well.

Good Reflexes

These come in handy not only on the court but when you are called upon to do good. Snatching a wandering toddler from the path of an oncoming car in the parking lot will earn you good wishes from the harried mother; helping an elderly man pick up his apples he's dropped before they're trampled by other shoppers is another way the basketball-playing guy can help his fellow man.

It's easy to see that playing basketball makes you a better guy. You can demonstrate your physical fitness to the ladies, and receive lots of attention, if you want it. You get along well with others which will hold you in good stead at work and at home. You have good reflexes that will enable you to help out your fellow man in times of calamity. Basketball makes you a better man. <bio>http://www.basketball-hoop-store.com basketball hoops.
So, you're wondering how you can impress your new boyfriend. You know that he REALLY loves basketball, one team in particular. You want to show him that you'd like to share some of his interests, but how to go about it?

I've actually been in this situation, and went to the one guy I knew who would be able to give me good, reliable information. I called my dad. Yep, my dad is also a big basketball fan, and I knew that he could help me out with what I needed to know.

I didn't want to look like a complete airhead the next time my boyfriend and I sat down to watch a game together on TV; I didn't want to be asking questions every other second. So, I had my dad walk me through the basics of basketball. As an added bonus, my dad also helped me learn the names of the players on my guy's favorite team, and what positions they played. While I had doubts about whether or not I'd be able to remember them all, I did think he'd be touched that I'd taken the time to try.

If you have a guy friend, brother, uncle, cousin, or other type of man in your life, chances are that at least one of them is going to be able to give you a quick primer in the basics of the sport you need to know.

If he's really interested in you, and wants you to be a part of his life, your boyfriend will most likely be happy to discuss his favorite sport with you =96 even if he has to start at the beginning. If your questions are pertinent and not complicated, it will be easy for you to learn about the sport while it's on TV. (Take my advice, though, and don't start asking questions when there's a minute or less on the clock =96 he won't hear you and if he does, he'll just be irritated. Been there, done that.)

Of course, all this is assuming that you have not previously been interested in the type of sports your man enjoys. It is entirely possible, of course, that you yourself have a passion for a particular sport and team. If this is the case, you may already have lots to talk about in this area. You can even engage in some friendly rivalry if you both support teams that play the same sport. Of course, even the most peaceful relationship can experience some intense feelings of dominance and revenge if you happen to support two traditionally opposing teams =96 say University of Florida and Florida State. But even lovers of these diametrically opposed teams have been known to be in love and even cohabitate!

No matter your sports background (or lack thereof) you can talk to your boyfriend about his favorites. Whether you are in the know and spend time comparing the superiority of one team or player over another or are just learning about the ins and outs of the basketball court, just talk about it, or as Nike says, Just Do It! <bio>Find a cool http://www.basketball-hoop-store.com basketball hoop at this top http://www.basketball-hoop-store.com basketball goal retailer.
Practice, Practice, Practice! Yep, that's all you need to do. If you're trying to improve your game, you have to actually get out there and play. If you're new to the sport, you've got a lot to learn, it's true, but there's no other way. You can read all the books you can get your hands on, you can watch the stars on televised games or on DVDs, but you can never get better unless you get out there on the court or on your driveway and shoot some hoops!

Where to begin? First, you need the right equipment. Luckily, for basketball, not much more is needed besides a ball, a hoop, and some sneakers. Do some light stretches and then get started. Start out with some dribbling. If you're already good at this skill (you'd be surprised with how many folks have problems here!), incorporate it into moving around the court. Practice moving at different speeds and then work up to running with the ball and moving around obstacles (like other players). Take a shot and see how you do. Are you better and making the basket from one side or the other? From further away or up close? Now, while it feels good to always be successful from one spot, don't forget to move around and practice from other areas of the court. When you're playing a game (whether pick-up or in a league) you can't count on always being able to get your spot to shoot from! (In fact, once your opponents realize what your strong points are, they'll spend a lot of time and energy trying to keep you from using them!)

Get involved! You can do a lot of work on your game by yourself or with a friend or family member right in your own driveway or neighborhood park. But if you really want to improve, you've also got to play with others. Join a basketball league at your community center, local church or the YMCA. You'll get to work with a coach who (likely) has more experience than you do, and will be able to help you improve your skills. The other players on your team are an invaluable resource, as well. If you just can't seem to nail a three-point shot, someone else may be able to give you some tips based on how he or she improved on this skill themselves.

If joining a league is not for you due to time constraints, cash, etc=85 visit your neighborhood park. Chances are if there's a basketball court on site, there'll be people there, playing basketball! Ask to join in, and you'll get some practice you may not have thought you'd get. Plus, you'll be getting a great work-out and you'll probably learn something from the other folks on the court. You might even make a few new friends, you never know!

So, if you want to improve your basketball game, it's really very simple. Just get out there and play! <bio>basketball hoop Find the best basketball hoops on the web at this premiere online http://www.basketball-hoop-store.com basketball goal store.
Everyone loves basketball. How could you not, what with the fast pace, the team coordination, and of course, those slam dunks. NBA basketball is the only sport that has special contests that highlight individual players, instead of the organization as a whole. NBA players are encouraged to not only work as a team, but also express their individual style. Pretty cool no matter how you look at it.

While the dual nature of NBA basketball players is certainly something to be encouraged, it can be taken too far like in the Olympic game between the US team and the Greek team. Basketball is about fundamentals in passing, shooting and lay ups, and of course team coordination. The US team seemed to lose their focus on the team as a whole and really just focused on dunking. While that may be somewhat entertaining to watch, it was useless against Greece. The Greek team had a remarkable passing game, and just scored lay up and 3 point shot one after another, while showing the world their awesome grasp on the fundamentals of the game. We now know that the Greek Olympic basketball team knows the drills.

Basketball fans always love to support their favorite team and of course, their favorite players. That is why you constantly see fans wearing their favorite player's basketball jerseys. Fans don't just go for the jersey's though. They love finding basketball collectibles like these: http://www.sports-collectibles-store.com/NBA_Player_Snow_Globes-p-1-c-53.html of their favorite player.

Basketball is also one of the most popular andquot;pick-upandquot; games around. If you can find a court in a neighborhood, you are likely to see a game in progress. Players give each other great basketball tips and drills, so everyone involved learns and gets better and better. Such a sport of cooperation! <bio>Michael Granger is a basketball fanatic who just happens to enjoy writing.
We all want to know the greatest players of all times. It is easy to determine them because of the fact that their statistics are soaring high and most of the time they receive awards for it. They do not necessarily need to win lots of games. It will always reflect on their individual performance. Sometimes they are even inducted to the Hall of Fame Just to be recognized and not many players receive this opportunity. You cannot miss the best players of all time because the crowd loves them and the other team tries to read them. In baseball, there were lots of good players and all of them deserve to be recognized.

However, the greatest thing that we can find out is to identify the key players of the team that won most of the titles for the World Series. Not many teams get the opportunity to win as much as 26 World Series Titles. Only one team who can do this and they belong in the Eastern Division of the American League. They have the most titles ever one in this sport and it is not other than the famous New York Yankees.

Yes, there so much about this team that people love. Below are some of their best players of all time:

1. Babe Ruth- He played for this team for fourteen years starting 1920-34. His former team owner sold him out in order to finance a Broadway show. He performed well with the team. It was no doubt because this legend has always been the number one batter in the hearts of the people. His records are outstanding that is why he have helped the team win around seven World Series Titles. This person is now one of the names that you see in the Hall of Fame.

2. Lou Gehrig- He was known as the The Iron Horse. He played for the team for them for 16 years starting 1923-39. He worked hand in hand with Ruth and their statistics were both very competitive. However, his performance declined when he was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis wherein his brain neurons started degenerating as well as the cells of his brain causing him involuntary movements that are not normal. He was the youngest baseball player to join the hall of fame in 1939 (even before he retired). Unfortunately, he died in 1941 with his impending illness

3. Joe DiMaggio- He was one of the anchors of the team when Ruth and Gehrig left. He played for the New York Yankees for 11 years. He helped the team win 9 World Series titles and 3 of those years he was hailed as the MVP. This guy is also one of the Hall of Famers.

These are just few of the baseball players who played for this team and contributed a lot for the Yankees to stay on top. Their track records speak well of how good they were. No wonder this team has been one of the top contenders for all time. If they have all of the batting skills of these players, then probably they will have a chance of bringing home the bacon.<bio>Freddie Brister is a huge fan of Major League Baseball and the New York Yankees.
