The scenery is primitive and has understandably, been the setting for films such as the Tarzan films.

Apalachicola Barrier Islands

Apalachicola, an old town south west of the forest, is the state's oyster capital. The three marvellous Barrier Islands are across the bay.

One of these is St George Island - a 28 mile barrier island. It is still the least inhabited and is unspoilt, even though you can get there by road. Its miles of white sand beaches are uncrowded, great for swimming and catching a variety of fish. You can see many gracious wildlife like turtles.

Take a break from the beautiful seashore and visit one of the many restaurants serving fresh local seafood such as oysters of course.

Or go shopping on the Island for clothing, beach stuff, gifts and art.

Another of the Barrier Islands is Little St George Island. Perfect for those who like a measure of isolation. The island is about 75 miles from Tallahassee and is reached by bridge and causeway from US 98.

You can camp for free, but bring your own facilities. There is of course, the white sand beaches, bird watching (ospreys and eagles), wildlife (yes, and racoons) and last but definitely not least - fantaastic fishing.

The third of the Barrier Islands is the St Vincent Island. You can only get there by boat.

But is has many fresh water lakes and salt water swamps. It is a birdwatchers paradise. <bio>Tim Burton writes travel articles for the popular Orlando Villas Florida by Owner website at http://www.milkriver.co.uk and Worldwide Villas by Owner website at http://www.worldwidevillas.net Article may be reprinted but must include the all the author's bio </bio>

Why not go to the Great Barrier Reef this year, find a great Barrier Reef Hotel, and have a Great Barrier Reef Vacation?

As one of the many thousands of visitors to Australia you are inevitably drawn to the Great Barrier Reef without necessarily really knowing what it is, where it is, and where is the best Barrier Reef Hotel to take the best advantage of it. So think on this:

The Great Barrier Reef off the east coast of Australia is the only living organic thing visible from Space. The Great Barrier Reef, off the east coast of Australia, is one of the wonders of the natural world - it is the world's largest coral reef ecosystem.

The reef is scattered with beautiful islands and idyllic coral cays and covers more than 300,000 square kilometres. The Great Barrier Reef system consists of more than 3000 reefs which range in size from 1 hectare to over 10,000 hectares in area. There are more than 600 islands of the Great Barrier Reef, some of which contain great hotels for you to stay at.

The real question is what Great Barrier Reef Hotel would suit you the best?

The Top 10 Rated Hotels in a recent poll were as follows:

1.South Long Island Nature Lodge, Whitsunday Island, Whitsunday Islands, Great Barrier Reef 2.Voyages Wilson Island, Heron Island, Great Barrier Reef 3.Lizard Island Resort, Lizard Island, Great Barrier Reef 4.Beach Club Resort, Hamilton Island, Whitsunday Islands, Great Barrier Reef 5.Voyages Heron Island Resort, Heron Island, Great Barrier Reef 6.Voyages Bedarra Island Resort, Bedarra Island, Great Barrier Reef 7.Voyages Dunk Island, Dunk Island, Great Barrier Reef 8.Peppers Palm Bay, Long Island, Whitsunday Islands, Great Barrier Reef 9.Hayman Island Resort, Hayman Island, Whitsunday Islands, Great Barrier Reef 10.Kingfisher Bay Resort, Fraser Island, Great Barrier Reef

There are all types of accommodation at all prices, with activities to match the budgets for your Great Barrier Reef vacation. Then you can go to family orientated island getaways like Hamilton Island, South Molle Island, and Daydream Island.. Finally you have Long Island a budget party island.

You must make extensive enquiries about each hotel, because there are many more than can be mentioned here.

Both Whitsunday's Great Barrier Reef islands and Queensland's Great Barrier Reef islands are ideally suited for honeymooners, families, divers, beachcombers or nature lovers - in fact anyone looking for an idyllic, exotic, sun kissed and pristine holiday destination that is a rare escape from a stressful world.

If diving or fishing are more your thing for your Great Barrier Reef vacation then Heron, Wilson, Lizard or Lady Elliot are the places to go.
The Great Barrier Reef off the east coast of Australia is a popular tourist destination for scuba travelers. The reef is legendary for its beauty. It is the largest reef system in the world and spans more than 1400 miles. If you love to scuba, you probably hope to visit the Great Barrier Reef someday. Here are a few facts about the great reef:

Location of the reef

The Great Barrier Reef is located off the east coast of Australia near Queensland. It is 185 miles from the mainland at the south and 12 miles from the mainland at the north. The widest point of the reef spans over 50 miles, the longest more than 1400 miles.

How to get to there

Flights depart daily for Australia from the west coast of the US. Once in Australia, you will most likely have to take a short domestic flight to the local city gateways to the reef which are Cairns and Townsville at the northern end and Gladstone and Bundabery at the southern end.

The Ultimate Scuba Diving Adventure

The reasons the Great Barrier Reef is such a popular diving spot is because of the crystal clear waters and abundance of sea life. The depth is fairly shallow which makes it great for novice to moderate level divers.

The best way to see the reef is on a live aboard boat which takes divers on extended expeditions to the reef. Smaller vessels take divers into the heart of the reef on daytrips which last for 4-5 hours.

Finding a 'Dive Island' Resort

There are many islands surrounding the reef which offer accommodations especially for reef divers and offer immediate access to the reef. For example, Cod Hole is one of the most popular diving spots and it is located off Lizard Island.

Best Time to Visit the Reef

All times of the year are suitable for diving in the Great Barrier Reef. The area is tropical so the weather remains pleasant throughout the year averaging temperatures in the 70's to 80's. The most popular months for diving at the Great Barrier Reef are during Australian summer which is the months of December to March. <bio>Abby Johnson is a staff writer at http://www.retirementplanningdigest.com and is an occasional contributor to several other websites, including http://www.lifestylegazette.com. </bio>

Heron Island is a small coral cay right on the Great Barrier Reef Australia, where you can snorkel straight off the beach amidst teeming marine life on an endless multicoloured coral reef.

It is what you don't see that really makes this such an outstanding destination as a Great Barrier Reef destination. You see there are no buildings above the tree line. There are no daytrippers, because Heron Island is only for its guests, and you won't find that in many resorts around the world.. The island isn't large, but it is beautiful, and you could walk around it in about 30 minutes, but it's large enough to escape from the stresses of 21st century life within a few hours of arriving. .. Heron Island has a unique atmosphere, which is one of relaxation, total relaxation., sophisticated casual relaxation, in a completely understated way, and this sets Heron apart from other resort islands

Heron is not the place to visit on your Great Barrier Reef Vacation if you need sophisticated nightlife, or a multitude of daytime activities, because the emphasis here is on the natural attractions and exploring the island..

The reef diving here is second to none, the snorkelling superb, so you may see turtles, dolphins, humpback whales migrating north, sharks, stingrays, many colourful fish and birds and they are all within easy reach which is fantastic.

The reef walks will teach you about the unique ecology of the Great Barrier Reef. Added to this is the abundance of bird life especially Noddy Terns.

On the other hand you can just lie around, read, and relax!!

In the evenings there might be live entertainment, or you can dance or just have a pleasant drink at the Pandanus Lounge. You will find the food is excellent with a, huge breakfast buffet, and three dinner buffets every week.

If you are a nature lover who doesn't mind a helicopter transfer then Heron Island is probably the ideal Great Barrier Reef Vacation Spot you could ever find.

For more Australian Vacations and information about the Great Barrie Reef, go to http://www.worldwidevacationspots.com/categories/Oceania%26%2339%3Bs-Hidden= -Hotels/Australia/ <bio>Peter Stewart writes exclusively for http://www.in-kenyasafari.com as well as http://www.worldwidevacationspots.com and he has in depth knowledge of the places he writes about </bio>

It has been my privilege over the past twenty years to travel to many parts of the globe. When I was hired to be a traveling photojournalist for a popular travel magazine, I had no real idea what kind of life lay ahead of me. I never really expected to spend weeks on an African safari or climbing the Great Wall of China. I guess I sort of expected that my job would take me to places like Kansas and Canada. I have made it to nearly one hundred countries now, and I have a short list of favorite places that I've seen. For the most part I would be happy never returning to the places I've seen, but there are a few that stick out that I must see again in my life. Australia's Great Barrier Reef is one of those places that I just cannot get enough of.

My coworkers laugh at me for how many times I suggest the Great Barrier Reef when we need an article or a spread of photos for an upcoming issue. They all know how much I love the reef and how I'm dying to go back at any chance I get. We sit in staff meetings and I slyly or not-so-slyly suggest the Great Barrier Reef as often as I can. It has worked sometimes because I have been able to travel to this beautiful part of the world six times now. My coworkers have said that my turn is up because they all want to go as well.

The Great Barrier Reef is simply breathtaking, and Australia is not bad itself. I love going there for work or for play. I have been able to bring my family with me three times and they have loved it as much as I can. There is nothing like spending a day deep sea diving around the most famous reef in the world. I have captured a collection of the most amazing underwater shots from the Great Barrier Reef.

So if you're looking for a beautiful location for your next vacation, look no further than to Australia and the Great Barrier Reef. Talk with a travel agent or get online to find the best deals. There are often great packages that can be purchased that include airfare, hotel and excursions, so just take your time and look carefully.

The world is a beautiful place. Few places compete with the beauty and wonder of the Great Barrier Reef though. See it for yourself. <bio>Martin Stoleman is a photojournalist that loves the perks of his job. He's seen the Great Barrier Reef six times and counting. See http://www.aboutgreatbarrierreef.info for more details. </bio>

Traveling is one of those things proven to wear some people out. Unfortunately, it can't always be avoided. At some point, most everyone will be required to travel by air. Whether you are a frequent passenger or a professional pilot, you're not safe from the evil face of jet lag. Certain situations in life demand us to travel, and with a few simple tips, you can avoid the awful feeling of jet lag.

First of all, let's discuss what jet lag really is. Jet lag occurs when we cross through multiple time zones without advance preparation. This can lead to serious headaches, fatigue, irritability, and insomnia. Some people have even suffered digestive problems and swelling. Jet lag gives you an overall feeling of "yuck" and can often last for days. Luckily, there are ways to prevent jet lag even if you are a first-time passenger on an airplane.

1. Drink plenty of fluids! This is especially important because dehydration while you're thousands of feet in the air is much worse than dehydration on the ground. Drink lots of water before your flight, on your flight, and after your flight. As tempting as that champagne offered in first class may be, it's not really a good idea if you are going to be passing through multiple time zones. Water will help keep you fresh, focused, and regular. Avoid caffeine too -- this will only make you jittery and the added sugar is terrible for your digestive system.

2. Change your sleep pattern! If at all possible, try adjusting your sleep pattern a few days prior to your departure. For example, if you are traveling to a place a few hours ahead of your time zone, then start going to bed earlier to compensate for the missed sleep you'll experience once you get there. Most people don't experience a problem if the time zone is a few hours behind, as this allows them to "catch up" rather than fall behind on their sleep.

3. Set the time on your watch. You will want to get used to your future time zone before you actually get there. This will help you eat, sleep, and perform other activities on the same schedule as your destination.

4. Sleep or stay awake according to your destination's time zone. It may sound confusing, but if it is night at your destination while you're flying, then you should sleep on the flight. If it will be daytime when you land, then you should stay awake. One of the major causes of jet lag is lack of sleep or too much sleep in one particular time zone.

5. Exercise and diet are important in midair. You won't be able to bust out the Richard Simons tapes on board or have the luxury of cooking meals for yourself, but remember that it's important to maintain exercise and diet even while on an airplane. Get up frequently during the flight to use the restroom, stretch your legs, and just move about. This will help keep fatigue to a minimum if you're not confined to your seat during the whole flight. Eat foods that are low in sugar, as these will only increase fatigue. Same with foods high in carbohydrates, so pick healthy foods and snacks such as whole wheat crackers, fruit, cheese, or natural fruit juices.<bio>Bill loves to travel share his travel tips. He especially loves provding information on the great barrier reef and the reef islands.</bio>

It is not only the largest reef system in the world, but many consider it as one of the most beautiful too. If this has been your dream to visit this natural wonder, here are some tips for the first-time traveler :

The Location of the Reef

Situated near Queensland in Australia, the Great Barrier Reef is about 185 miles away from the mainland on the southern side. It is about 12 miles away from the shore on the northern side. It is about 50 miles wide at the northern side -- the widest stretch. What can you expect to see at the Great Barrier Reef. The amazing variety of plant and animal life which have made its home here is mind-boggling. You can, actually see about 4000 species of mollusks, more than 1000 species of fish, about 380 species of coral, 500 species of seaweed, six varieties of sea turtles.

How to Get to the Barrier Reef

There are daily flights to Australia from the West Coast in the United States. When you reach Australia, you may have to take a small connecting flight to land near one of the gateways to the reef. Generally people go for Cairns and Townsville, two tropical cities located near the northern side of the reed. The other gateway is at Gladstone and Bundaberg, located near the southern side of the reef.

The Ultimate Scuba Diving Adventure

The calm and lucid waters around the reef make it the best location for scuba diving in the world. Water may run deep at certain places, but is generally moderate for amateurs to dive in. For beginners, diving should be in shallow waters -- about 60 feet in depth. However for experts, there are reefs around the Coral Sea where the depth is about 300 feet.

To go through one of the best scuba diving experiences, you can board one of the popular 'live aboard' boats. These specialized boats take visitors right where the action is. Many such boats have convenient luxury amenities and can organize boats to take divers right at the center of the reef. There are day boats available for day-time scuba diving. These day boats take visitors for 4 to 5 hour trips into the reef. Even local resorts organize these day boats for their guests.

Finding a 'Dive Island' Resort

Resorts located in small islands around the reef are capable of organizing scuba diving trips for the guests. They provide convenient access to the reef and are great for visitors looking for a scuba diving adventure. Generally these resorts are situated in Lizard, Green, Lady Elliot, and Heron islands. 'Cod Hole" -- a popular diving site is situated off Lizard Island.

Best Time to Visit the Reef

Anytime of the year is considered to be safe and suitable to visit the reef for scuba diving. This is because of the nature of the water which is normally calm and steady. The Australian summer is considered to be popular -- which is between December and March. Because of the tropical climate, the temperature usually hovers around 70 to mid-80s.This makes a visit to the Great Barrier Reef and its surrounding cities pleasant at anytime of the year. <bio>Abby Johnson is a staff writer at http://travel-gazette.com and is an occasional contributor to several other websites, including http://www.lifestylegazette.com. </bio>

* Barrier of tear: The saws of Table have a barrier (guide) to function of before table (the nearest side operator) to the back, parallel with the secant plan of the blade. The distance from the barrier of the blade can be adjusted, which determines where on the object the cut is made. The barrier is generally called a "barrier of tear" referring to its use by guiding the object during the process to make a cut of tear. The majority of the saws of table come standard with a barrier from tear, however some saws at end high are available without barrier thus a barrier of the choice of the user can be bought separately.

* Measure mitres: The table has one or two grooves to function of before with the back, also put in parallel at the secant plan of the blade. These slits of mitres (or grooves of mitres) are employed to place and guide one or the other a measurement of mitres (also known under the name of barrier of crosscut) or the sledge of crosscut. The measurement of mitres is usually regulated to be with 90 degrees in the plan of the cut of the blade, in order to cause the cut made in the object make with a right angle. The measurement of mitres can also be adjusted to cause the cut to be made with an ordered angle with precision (of alleged cut mitres).

* Sledge of Crosscut: A sledge of crosscut is generally used to hold the object with a fixed angle of 90 degrees with the blade, allowing the cuts which one can repeat precise with the angle more used generally. The sledge is normally guided by a runner attached under him that slide in a slit of mitres. This device is normally made store, but can be bought.

* Gauge of tenon: A gauge of tenon is a device which holds the object vertically thus cuts can be made through the end. This makes it possible tenons to be formed. Often it is a bought article, but it can be made store. <bio>The author, Jeremy Stone, is a recognized American home improvement expert.
If you have a radiant heat system, radiant barrier foil is an ideal way to maximize your radiant heat efficiency.

Radiant heat is heat that is transmitted from a heat source through space and a radiant barrier is designed to reflect that heat towards your living space.

Radiant barriers are made from materials that are poor at absorbing heat but excellent at reflecting it. A radiant barrier is usually a thin sheet or coating of a highly reflective material, mostly aluminum. An effective radiant barrier must reflect 97% of the heat and in order to perform correctly, the reflective side must be open to an air space.

By using radiant barrier foil you can substantial increase your energy savings especially since this foil barrier can reflect so much heat back to its source. By using a foil barrier you will keep your home far warmer than without a radiant barrier.

A few things are important to look out for when buying a radiant barrier. If you're doing the installation yourself, you should select a tear resistant radiant barrier so your installation will be easier. The best way to test the strength of the radiant barrier is to take a small sample and try to tear it by hand. If it rips apart, chances are it will tear easily and make your installation difficult.

The types that don't tear easily usually have a woven mesh that is laminated between two sheets of foil. Other types of radiant barrier use what is called, a " bubble-pack" between the foil sheets, giving the radiant barrier some added strength.

Another thing to check would be the flammability rating. You should select a radiant barrier that has a Class I USB (Uniform Building Code) or a Class A NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) flammability rating. To make sure, you can always ask your local fire department or building inspector to review your selection or recommend an appropriate product.

Be aware that radiant barriers can also be used as vapor barriers, which prevent moisture from passing through them. So depending on where you are using a radiant barrier will determine what kind you use. You don't want warm air passing through it onto a cold surface and then condensing, this could cause problems.

For installation, place the radiant barrier, foil-face up under a sub-floor about 1 to 2 inches below the radiant tubing.

To receive the best efficiency and comfort from your radiant heating system some basic rules should be followed; all of your exterior rim joists should be insulated; and insulation should be stapled to the bottom of your joists under the radiant barrier.

Also, keep in mind that radiant in-floor heat will not work properly until the joist space is closed.

While radiant barriers are certainly not new on the market, they are an inexpensive yet effective way for homeowners to save energy and money. Radiant barrier materials are continuing to improve and they are becoming widely available throughout North America.

With a radiant heat system, a radiant barrier will reflect the heat back into the home, heating your home much more efficiently. They come in many shapes, sizes and geographical varieties and the people that visit them are as varied as the islands themselves. Whilst you can move between the islands, most people choose to stay on just one for the duration of their holiday. The islands are traditionally divided into seven groups: Cyclades, Aegean, Dodecanese, Sporades, Ionian, Argosaronic Gulf and Crete which, as a single island, is the largest in the group.

Where can I stay?

Try a Greek Island holiday with a difference by choosing a boutique hotel. You can't beat the individuality of these small, intimate hotels where detail is a primary consideration and the needs of the guest always come first. Try Elounda Gulf Villas and Suites on Crete, Katikies on Santorini and Ostraco Suites on Mykonos. These are all unique places to stay, offering the ultimate in quiet understated luxury.

What can I see?

For most people, the attraction of the Greek Islands is the beaches. The quality and size of the beaches varies from island to island, as does the level of development in the main resorts. The sheer number of islands means that you can usually find exactly what you're looking for; whether it's 24-hour entertainment or a quiet relaxing break. For those that want to explore the islands' culture, there are plenty of historical buildings, traditional villages and museums to visit.

How do I get around?

You can get to some of the islands such as Mykonos and Santorini by air, but most of the other islands are reached by ferry from Athens. The ferries are regular and there are ticket operators at the harbours, so you can also use them to visit other islands during your stay. To get around an island, you can hire a car or a bike, or use the local bus system. There are no train services once you're off the mainland. If you're feeling especially adventurous, hire a sailing boat and navigate your own way around the islands. <bio>Chic Retreats is a collection of cool, smart hotels with less than 30 rooms and an eye for detail and design.
Kitchen islands are becoming increasingly popular amongst those with available space in the kitchen, and this is because these islands offer a wide range of benefits, all of which help to improve one of the most important rooms in the home. The kitchen is one room in the house that should be both practical and appealing, and this is because it is a room in which many people not only have to work and cook but also relax and entertain. Having one of these islands installed in your kitchen will really add to the look of the room, giving it a sleek, modern look and adding to the practical features of the room. You will find your island is an invaluable addition to your kitchen, and will make life far easier when working in this room as well as adding to the look of the kitchen.

Enjoy the many benefits of kitchen islands

When you have one of these islands installed you will enjoy a range of benefits. You can get islands that boast extra drawers which means that you will be able to enjoy additional storage space. The extra countertop space will provide you with additional space to work, and can also double up as table top space when you are not working in the kitchen. You can enjoy a great choice of islands, such as butcher block style islands and granite islands -- in fact, you will find something to suit practically every kitchen with styles and designs to fit in with your kitchen cabinets, décor, theme, and personal taste. Having a separate place to prepare food away from the sink and other work surfaces can be a real blessing, particularly if you have a lot of food to prepare, so those with big families will really appreciate the extra workspace that these islands provide.

These islands will help you to make the most of your kitchen space

Having a larger kitchen is great, but for most people having a lot of empty space in the middle of the room is simply a waste. More often than not extra workspace and storage is far more beneficial, and by having a stylish and modern island fitted in the kitchen you will be able to enjoy these benefits without compromising on the comfort and great look of your kitchen. You can look into buying some stools that match your island, enabling you to use it as a breakfast bar or table as and when required, and you will find it a pleasure to work in an area where you have the freedom to move around away from the other equipment and appliances in your kitchen. These islands can be very cost effective, and are a great way to enjoy kitchen and home improvements without breaking the bank. And with the excellent choice of islands available you can find something that suits your kitchen, your pocket, and your tastes perfectly. <bio>Concentrating on news and information about kitchen cabinets, Jerry Blackburn publishes normally for http://www.kitchen-cabinets-tips.com .
There are many wonderful and beautiful places to visit in the world. If you are blessed enough to get frequent vacations then you are well aware of the fact that it can be hard to choose what kind of vacation to go on and where to spend your days away from work. Do you want to vacation somewhere warm or somewhere cold? Do you prefer a bit of an isolated vacation or do you like the busyness of being surrounded by many people? As my family and I have been vacationing for the past few years, we have determined our favorite spot that we just cannot get enough of: the Caribbean islands.

I knew the Caribbean islands were something special the first time we took our children there. There was a magic and a wonder in their eyes upon seeing the water that even Disney World didn't evoke the year before. Our kids were absolutely hooked on the sheer beauty of the Caribbean islands. I didn't mind the relaxed pace or the daily agenda of just being by the water and swimming if we felt like it.

One of the great things about the Caribbean islands is the variety of locations and feels there is to choose from. If you are looking for an island with a lot of activity, you can find it in the Caribbean islands. If, however, you are looking for a quiet and secluded feel for your vacation, it is not hard to find a Caribbean island that fits your needs. Few places in the world offer such flexibility for any kind of vacation. You can stay on a Caribbean island that offers a lot of tourist attractions or you can stay somewhere that only offers the beach. It's up to you.

Another obvious thing to love about the Caribbean islands is the sheer beauty that surrounds you. I have never been to a place more beautiful in all my travels. From the moment we stepped off the plane we were struck by just how full of beauty the Caribbean islands were. The water held a variety of shades of blue and green. The sand was nearly angel hair white and the sky was bright blue and full of sunshine every day. The landscaping was immaculate and I have rarely seen as green of grass and plants. The Caribbean islands are simply unmatched for this kind of beauty.

So, if you're looking for a great place to vacation, look no further than to the Caribbean islands. You can experience any kind of vacation you want to, but all in the midst of the beauty and wonder of the Caribbean islands. What could be better than that? <bio>Analeese Burnabaker loves to visit the Caribbean islands. As a travel consultant, she also loves to encourages others to visit there too. With a variety of things to do, explore either by yourself or on a guided tour.

Note: Some areas were severely damaged from the 2004-2005 hurricane seasons. These areas are probably still closed, so check before you go: Santa Rosa Area, Fort Pickens Area.

South Walton Beaches

Just east of Pensacola you will find the South Walton Beaches, stretching 26 miles of powdery white sands, vast pine forests, cool underground springs, marshlands, bays, bayous and blue gulf waters.

A most beautiful spot is Deer Lake State Park.
You've probably heard of the Whitsundays - beautiful Australian tropical islands with white sandy beaches and coral reefs. Maybe you've been to a resort on one of the islands, or taken a flight or a cruise from Shute Harbour.

All the year round, many visitors come from all over the world, as well as from all Australian states and territories to enjoy the beaches, the reefs, the fishing and many other pastimes.

Whether it be to relax on the beach or to enjoy the adrenalin rush of sky-diving, the Whitsundays provide all this and more.

What happens, though, if you enjoy looking at that beautiful blue-green water, with islands, nearby and distant, across the Whitsunday Passage, but can't bear the thought of stepping on board a boat, much less getting into one of those tiny planes, or even worse - a helicopter! And the Great Barrier Reef is a 40km "voyage"....

Or maybe you've "Been there, done that", taken a couple of day cruises, and your budget is blowing out.

What else is there to do?

All you really want to do is lie in the sun on a nice sandy beach and relax. Maybe you'll drop in to a hotel for a counter lunch, or in the evening, and visit a couple of nice spots for dinner.

You may take a look around the shops, or try a few different beaches.

This was our situation when we arrived at Airlie Beach with our 5th wheel trailer, for a couple of weeks at a tourist park. There is a good selection of caravan parks with various levels of facilities. The major associations are well represented. Free stays are harder to come by in the area. We also had our Westie, Snowy, so we needed a place that allowed pets. We found a good place, as we usually do.

We don't like leaving Snowy behind for day trips, another reason not to visit the Islands this time around. It turned out we found all we wanted, although it wasn't as we expected!

Our site was backing onto the small Whitsunday airport, with planes and helicopter flights to and from the islands, and for sky-diving, from early morning till dusk.

Fortunately not at night! Having spent three years in the RAF back in the days of National Service, it was a familiar sound, and didn't disturb me at all, I heard no complaints from other visitors either.

The Town of Whitsunday includes Airlie Beach, Shute Harbour, and couple of other places, all in close proximity, so any park is handy for the island cruises and reef excursions.

There are lots of palm and other tropical trees including, in the location called Flametree, of course, flame trees, all around. <bio>Tony has retired and is travelling around Australia by RV with his wife Louisa and Snowy, their West Highland X Maltese terrier. You can follow their trip on their website http://www.5thwheeltravels.com with daily updates by Louisa. </bio>

Holidays to Canary Islands are for families, singles and anyone else who needs some fun and excitement. There are water parks and some of the most beautiful beaches. Playa del Ingles is where you will find the gay community with restaurants and bars. The Palmalitos Zoo and the Aqualand Maspalomas are spectacular to visit. In Sioux City, you will find the theme park for family entertainment and the Jardin Canario, which is a beautiful garden. Everyone that visits the area has a great time. It is exciting and adventurous. There are so many things to see and do in the Canary Islands.

Holidays to Canary Islands should include a visit to Palmitos Park in Los Palmitos. The botanical gardens are amazing to look at as well as the animals. You will see exotic birds and the famous bird pray show. You might feel that the price is a bit high, but once you get inside, you will see that it is well worth the money. It is a beautiful place to spend the day. Another day should be spent at the Aqualand Maspalomas. The water park is fun and spending the entire day there is well worth your time. Young and old alike enjoy this water park.

For those who enjoy a good game of golf or a day of water activities, the cheap holidays to Canary Islands will include a day of golf at the Anfi Tauro Golf Course. The course is actually a nice place for nine or eighteen holes of golf. It has an amazing view around the course. If water sports are in your plans, you will want to visit the beautiful beaches for some scuba diving, snorkeling and water skiing. The water is warm and the sun is hot, so you will have a great day in the sun.

With all the islands that belong to the Canary Islands, you can find one or two islands to plan your holiday to Canary Islands for fun. The museums, ancient ruins, religious sites, nightclubs and the historical attractions are something everyone enjoys. Finding something to do is not hard when you see all the things the islands have to offer. There is an island for nightlife, an island for adventure, an island for beaches and an island for families. The islands have something for everyone to enjoy and have a fun filled vacation.

Families enjoy Canary Islands every day. Whale watching is another favorite pastime. It is amazing watching the whales jump out of the water. You do have to be in the right place at the right time to se this spectacular display. Since the area is family friendly, you will find the kids having just as must fun if not more than you do. You will find that even the hotels are made to make the kids feel comfortable and happy. Some hotels have game arcades for those nights when you decide to take a rest. The kids have fun playing the games and drinking a soda. <bio>On cheap holidays 48 - http://www.cheapholidays48.co.uk - We recently published an article called what to do on your holiday to the Canary Islands.
Are your travel plans realistic? Can you travel the distance you want in a day? Australia is a big country, just how big, find out here.

I remember years ago I was holidaying in California. And being from Australia you get many questions and everyone is always intrigued by your accent.

Anyway, I started a conversation with this twenty something lady and she was telling me she was going to visit Australia next year.

Her plan was to fly to Sydney, stay for two weeks and take day trips from there. Which sounds like a fabulous plan.

There are heaps of things to see and do around Sydney for day trips. Sydney has a fantastic zoo and aquarium. The Blue Mountains with walks and scenic look outs is a day trip. In the other direction is the Southern Highlands with more scenic points.

Visit famous Bondi Beach and other beaches near Sydney, take in a few National Parks. Oh and I nearly forgot, visit the Opera House and climb the harbor bridge. Well the list goes on and there are more than enough things to see in and around Sydney to keep you busy for more than a fortnight.

But no. Her plan was to stay in Sydney and take day trips to Uluru and the Great Barrier Reef.

I looked at her and asked her again "what are your plans?". And Yes sure enough she planned to stay in Sydney and drive to The Great Barrier Reef and Uluru for day trips.

But that is impossible I said, and informed her that Australia is almost the same size as the United States. No matter what I said, she would not believe me -- If you don't believe me then go and look at this map http://www.ga.gov.au/education/facts/dimensions/compare.htm.

Australia is the sixth largest country and the largest island in the world.

>From Sydney to Uluru is 2,795km that is 1,735 miles and from Sydney to Mackay (middle area of the Reef) it is 1,715km about 1065 miles.

At least one thousand miles -- one way. There is no physical way this trip can be done.

Even flying from Sydney to The Great Barrier Reef is at a minimum 4 hours one way flying time. And the Great Barrier Reef itself takes up an area half the size of Texas.

Now, I have not told you this to put you off coming to visit Australia. Far from it. But just come informed. Enjoy your trip, visit the Great Barrier Reef and Uluru and Sydney they are all interesting and worthy of your time.

And when you visit, we'll say G'day Mate.
