In the 30 -35 years following 1960 about 93% of American households had their homes protected by installing fire alarms. This was not limited to any one form but apartments, single or family homes and dormitories all got their homes installed with some kind of alarms as required by the law which was made mandatory in 1980s.

How Will Fire Alarms Help Alarm goes off hooting and alerting you in the event of fire breakout. Very sensitive, as they are, fire alarms alert you early facilitating escape with your kin and kith to safety. It protects loss of lives and property. It has been the single most important savior of lives and properties from fire hazards over years, according to a survey; no doubts about that.

It is fine, but how will it alert the hearing impaired persons who can't hear the hooter going off? The Federal law, popularly known as Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 makes it mandatory for manufacturers of fire alarms to include strobe lights in addition to audible alarms.

Audible Alarms Often fire fighters complain of hearing problems early in their lives. And they are not unjustified with this especially when fire alarms making loud sounds in the range of 90 -- 100 decibels. The hooter or horn is designed to produce a variety of sounds depending on the distinct purposes. For example, 'code 3 temporal pattern' is used only when evacuation is necessary; and thus the alarm pulses too, vary in times. Other patterns include continuous tone, march time etc.

Fire alarms get triggered by sensors which detect either heat or smoke or both in fractions of a second. You can imagine the efficiency of the systems which detect the cause of fire (heat or smoke) first and trigger the hooter to go and still giving the residents enough time to escape.

Buying Fire Alarms While buying fire alarms you may want to consider a few points. Generally, in public places where large number of people work together, 'code 3 temporal pattern' suits better which can well be heard over the rolling noise generated by the crowd, and for a home purpose a continuous tone type would suffice. Buy fire UL listed alarms. In case of confusion, don't hesitate to consult the fire department. Occasionally, fire departments offer alarms at discounts too.

Offensive fire alarm pranks in hostels or dormitories, when students pull alarms are not viewed lightly in America. Students and pranksters must understand that it wastes the precious time of fire departments and needs evacuation of entire buildings at times.

Get tips on installation and mock drills from fire department. <bio>Alan Ross is a regular article contributor on many topics.
It is scientifically proved that human ears become poor in their natural ability to hear the voices especially voices of low pitch and high pitch. As we know that human ear is a very sensitive organ of the body which can sense hearing in the range from twenty to twenty thousands tones per second. Many researchers and scientists have also belief in the fact that human sensitive senses become weak in progress as human being become aged. Sometimes performance of senses depends upon hereditary character, which transfer from generation to generation.

Social Effect On Hearing Loss:

With problem of poor hearing there are also some social effects for this natural deficiency. Sometimes people ignore the persons with low hearing ears in this case one may feel disgraced and dishonored. People also song as deaf to individuals having problem of low hearing.

Parameters For Choosing Hearing Aid:

The best remedy for hearing loss problem is to select a good hearing aid device. Among hearing aids, a digital programmable hearing aid are treated as the best one and selection of digital hearing device involves many factors. By having these hearing aids one can have stunning and wonderful results as far as sensing of voices is concerned. It can also make other people to feel comfortable in regard of mal-hearing socially.

Benefits Of Digital Programmable Hearing Aid:

As this world is progressing in scientific innovations multiple and quadruples, the digital programmable hearing aid is like a blessing as a result of scientific research for the individuals undergoing impaired hearing. It has ninety nine percent audible voice efficiency because of its high throughput performance audio sensed circuitry. It makes voice clear by canceling interference and over tone problems. Digital programmable hearing aid has also ability to make itself adjustable according to sensed voice input. In fact it is a true helper for the persons having hearing loss problem.

S.H. Demerits Of Digital Programmable Hearing Aids

As compared to low performance analogue audible voice senses the digital ones are costly. Digital programmable hearing aids are being the part of people's life from l987 but due to market trends no doubt it has more price. As a result of different taxes applied but with the passage of time analogue hearing aids are being discarded and are not likely to be adopted by the effected peoples.

Popularity Of Digital Programmable Hearing Aids:

With the advent of digital programmable hearing aid in market, all sects of people and many are adopting it. Many manufacturers are diverting their business towards making of digital programmable hearing aids due to its demand in market. The persons feeling such problem may contact audiologist in order to select digital hearing aid according to their suitability. These devices are becoming a reliable source for the solution of problem like hearing loss. It has saved the people from the deprivation of hearing loss, which has brought comfort to their life.

New hearing aid technology is always improving on the old. Digital hearing aids sample the sound in the same way that digital audio technology does, and can produce better sound quality. <bio>You can also find more info on http://www.firsthearingaids.com/comparereviews/digital_hearing_aids.html on old digital hearing and http://www.firsthearingaids.com/comparereviews/digital_hearing_aids_and_fre= quency_response.html on digital sound processing. </bio>

I guess it's a funny old world when people enjoy reading using their ears rather than their eyes! The ability to download audio book titles has proven to be very popular, especially for those who feel too busy to find time to put their feet up, pour a glass of wine and have a good old 'traditional' read. But it's not a popular trend with everybody.

Detractors moan that audio book CDs are too bulky, they get lost easily and you need a CD player to hand. The actor reading the story might not have the 'right' kind of voice and this is off-putting (especially if you've built up an 'internal' voice in your head already). We also hear that they're a threat to traditional reading skills.

However, this ignores the broader spectrum: audio books open up great literature (and factual writing) to a wider audience and, as we live in the computer age, there are many different, quick, cheap and convenient methods of delivery. Every town seems to have a new multimedia outlet springing up, providing all kinds of software and hardware audio products. But maybe the greatest advancement is in the ability to download audio book titles.

The most common route to follow is to download the audio book as an MP3 (although there are propriety formats which are often designed to restrict the amount of copying that can be done). MP3s are in common use and can be stored on your computer's hard drive, burned onto a CD or DVD or transferred onto an iPod or MP3 player (for those who like to listen to 'War and Peace' whilst jogging!). The beauty of this method is that the original 'master' file is still on your hard drive, so if you lose your MP3 player or scratch your CD, you can still listen to your audio and transfer it to another medium when you're ready.

With the introduction of the new iPod phones (and the clones that will follow by other manufacturers) downloading audio books will become even more popular. Imagine being able to make a call, take photos, listen to music AND listen to your favourite Harry Potter novel all on one small, portable device!

The best way to download audio book titles, then, is to join a subscription service. The companies providing this service have proliferated greatly over the last few years and most provide a reasonably priced and hassle-free download of your books. Joining these services need not be expensive and is not difficult to do. Browsing their extensive catalogue of fiction and non-fiction titles is one of my favorite activities, akin to wandering around a huge bookstore in town, but without all the crowds!

There are many online services where you can browse, then join their subscription service. Here are just a few of the hundreds available:

1. Audible.com and Audible.co.uk 2. AudioVille.co.uk 3. SimplyListen.com 4. SimplyAudioBooks.com 5. Talking-Book-Store.com 6. AudioBooksForFree.com

I realize it can be difficult choosing an online service for your audio books, but there are review resources on the internet (which you should definitely check out) and most of the companies offer free trial periods where you can evaluate their service and try out their systems and quality of books BEFORE you commit any hard cash.

So, there really is no excuse not to download audio book titles and try out what is going to be a hugely popular way to digest literature in the future! <bio>Alan Moore reviews audio books at http://www.AudioBookActive.com He is available to hire as a composer of music for audio books and you can hear his work at http://www.alanjmoore.com </bio>

The best solution for protecting your car when reversing is to install a back up auto sensor. By adding an infra red sensor to your rear bumper, you will be able to keep track of anything that is behind your car. By knowing what is hidden behind your car when you are going backwards, you will be able to avoid any accidental bumps that will cause damage to your vehicle.

It is almost impossible to see the details of everything behind your car when you are reversing. Thanks to the limited field of view provided by your mirror, and the shape of the rear of your car, seeing small or low objects such as the front of other cars, docks, and even small children can be extremely difficult.

If you cannot see objects, or are unaware of what is behind your car, you run the risk of bumping into it and either causing damage to your vehicle, or injury to any person who is behind you. This is where a back up auto sensor comes into play. These sensors act as your eyes, and work to detect any objects behind your car, and provide you with a warning before you hit them to prevent damage or injury.

Typically, a back up auto sensor takes the form of row of sensors across the rear bumper of your car connected to a warning device inside the car to let you know when you get too close to an object.

When reversing in a car, it is all too easy to be unaware of any small objects behind the car. If you have children, you will no doubt have had at least one scare when the kids have run out from behind the car when you are reversing. Just imagine if you had not been lucky. By having a back up auto sensor fixed to the rear of your car, you will give yourself peace of mind that you are not putting the lives of loved ones at risk.

Most sensors use an ultrasonic field that echoes off any objects in the way of your vehicle as you reverse, and then provide audible feedback to warn you as you close in on the object that is in your way. Basic back up auto sensors simply combine an alarm with the sensors to warn you, but more advanced models also include a visible display to give you an indication of how close you are getting to any static objects.

Fitting a back up auto sensor to your car can be a very straightforward process. All you need to do is fix the sensors to the rear of your car, and then connect it to the power supply and the internal warning device, whether this is an alarm, or a display screen.

In the past, many people have been put off purchasing a parking sensor for the rear of their car, because they thing that having the sensor devices on their bumper spoils the lines of their car, and is a little unsightly, but this is no longer the case.

To address these concerns, many manufacturers have now started to offer more discreet back up auto sensors which are concealed around the license plates at the back of the car. These are just as effective as the other models, but are less obvious on the back of your car.

You can choose from back up auto sensors that offer a simple audible alarm that beeps at an increasing rate as you close in on objects, through to much more advanced models that include a screen to display the exact distance to objects to make it completely clear to you just how close to something you are getting.

The latest versions can be integrated into the car more completely than ever, and include the possibility of having an LCD display as part of your existing rear view mirror that shows you the distance in either feet or metres.

If you want to make it simpler to park, reduce the risk of bumping into static objects when you are reversing, or protect other people when you are going backwards, fitting a back up auto sensor to the rear of your car will offer you the kind of warning that you need. The expense of bumping into someone else's car can be quite high, and for a fraction of that cost, you can protect your self and keep your vehicle looking great. <bio>Jason has been in the construction equipment and industrial sales business for over 10 years.
What is a heart-rate monitor?

Monitoring your heart rate is easy: If you're living, you've got one. A heart rate monitor allows you to effectively train at your target heart rate for optimal results during competition. First you've got to understand how monitors work. Most look like wristwatches and combine timekeeping functions with heart monitoring. For constant heart rate readout, purchase one with a chest strap transmitter that sends heart data to the wrist unit. Devices without a chest strap provide heart rate data but only when you are touching the unit with your hand. If you decide on buying one, lower you can find a few examples of what's available, plus some characteristics.

One of the leading manufacturers is Polar (www.polar.fi), which offers, amongst many other, these products:

Polar FS1

Heart rate monitor target zone with audible high/low heart rate monitor alarm. It displays heart rate and exercise duration during exercise. Has the option to recall total exercise duration and average heart rate after exercise. It's clock has selectable 12/24 hour display. It includes T31 chest heart rate monitor transmitter and elastic strap. It is available in dark blue or yellow colors. This is just the thing for beginners and basic exercises.

Polar AXN 700

This heart rate monitors offer a complete set of features for hiking, climbing, mountaineering, skiing or other outdoor activities. It has a titanium case and the following additional features: resting heart rate test, slope counter, 3 sets of heart rate limits and bearing setting. Amongst the usual specs of an heart rate monitor, you can also find:

HeartTouch™, button-free operation of wrist unit - lap information can be momentarily displayed by touching the Polar wrist unit to the chest transmitter belt.

Polar OwnCode® prevents cross-talk from other heart rate monitors. As more and more people use heart rate monitors today, preventing cross talk from other devices in-group situations at the gym or when jogging with a friend becomes essential. The unique coded technology blocks unwanted signals from other heart rate monitors, ensuring disturbance-free transmission of your heart rate data.

Another manufacturer is Reebok (www.reebok.com), where I found a few designs of heart rate monitor, presented below:

Reebok Personal Trainer Heart Monitor -- It measures your heart rate to ECG accuracy. Displays time of day, calendar, and has a daily alarm function. Scan Sequence -- Just press a button, unit will display average heart rate, highest and lowest heart rate and total exercise time. Contour Lite Transmitter included.

Reebok Precision Trainer Monitor

It has a heart rate zone high / low limit in 1 beat steps for exact heart zone, an out of zone alarm audible warning when out of zone. It displays heart rate and percentage of maximum heart rate. You don't have to calculate what the percentages should be, since it does that for you. For example: 99 Hour stopwatch with 50 lap memory plus an accumulated time in target zone. The triple display is it's main feature, which makes it special, an can be swapped trough: Time of Day, Heart rate and percentage of maximum heart rate or, Stop Watch, Heart rate and percentage of maximum heart rate or, Time in Zone, Heart rate and percentage of maximum heart rate.

For more information on heart-rate monitors, you should visit the following sites:

www.heartratemonitor.co.uk/ www.heartmonitors.com/ www.consumersearch.com/www/health_and_fitness/heart-rate-monitors/ www.epinions.com/well-Supplies-Home_Diagnostics-Heart_Rate-All <bio>Nick Carter is editor of http://www.eheartratemonitors.coma website which provides resources and information on heart rate monitors. </bio>

What is sleep apnea? Sleep apnea is a potentially life threatening sleeping disorder that can be very difficult to catch if you always sleep alone. Apnea, literally translated, means without breath. When you sleep and snore, you have the disorder when your breathing stops for ten or more seconds in between snores. Usually, the lapse in breathing is directly followed by an audible gasp for air, your body's way of getting the oxygen it so desperately needs. Sleep apnea causes a blood oxygen desaturation of three to four percent or more. While the percentage may not seem like much, it can have disastrous effects on your overall health.

A quick internet search of what is sleep apnea will bring back over 25,000 responses. Once you sift through all of the garbage sites, you'll find out that there are many symptoms of the sleeping disorder. The scary fact is that many of the symptoms, such as depression, irritability and changes in behavior can be attributed to a ton of other non sleep apnea related conditions. In most cases, these symptoms will be misconstrued and misdiagnosed as a mental condition. As a result, the treatments will only relieve the symptoms and leave the actual disorder untouched and not addressed. If left untreated, sleep apnea can cause major damage to the heart, culminating in a massive heart attack that can leave you lifeless.

If you think that you may have sleep apnea, I highly encourage you to do a Google search of "what is sleep apnea". The thousands of pages can give you much more information than I can in this brief article, and can end up saving your life. If, after doing some background research, you believe you suffer from sleep apnea, make an appointment and see your doctor as soon as possible. <bio>Want to stop snoring today?
Because sleep apnea has the potential to be a life threatening condition, it's important to know the symptoms of sleep apnea in order to catch the problem before it's too late. Literally meaning without breath, apnea is when your snoring is interrupted by periods of breathlessness lasting 10 seconds or more. In many cases, this loss of breath is followed by an audible gasp for air. While some symptoms of sleep apnea are easily disguised as something else, such as morning headaches, forgetfulness or trouble concentrating, others are more specific to the disorder.

Esophageal reflux, getting up several times in the same night to urinate (nocturia), heavy sweating and decreased sex drive are all common symptoms of sleep apnea. If you experience one without any of the others, it isn't likely to be caused by the sleeping disorder. On the other hand, if you're experiencing several of these symptoms it may be time to make an appointment with your family doctor. When caught in time, sleep apnea is less likely to have fatal consequence. The most common cause of death related to sleep apnea is an increase in pulmonary pressures that are related to one side of your heart. If left untreated, it can result in congestive heart failure.

Even if you never have troubles with your heart, sleep apnea can still do a number on you. One of the other symptoms of sleep apnea is depression, irritability and changes in behavior. These three can combine to make a normally sane person act completely crazy and out of character. The symptoms just listed are particularly troubling, considering that many times people won't associate them with sleep apnea at all. The misdiagnoses and treatments that follow may mask the symptoms for awhile, but they will do nothing to treat the sleep apnea condition that is causing them all. <bio>To discover the best remedy for snoring, visit http://www.StopSnoringSystem.com/ today!
A driver is desperately trying to make a business appointment and fiddles with the phone to call ahead that she is running late. Another flips through a portfolio of CDs trying to find just the right music selection. Both overestimate their abilities and swerve momentarily into the next lane.

In today's busy world, people often find themselves multi-tasking; and unfortunately, drivers are taking this trend to the road. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), not only do the majority of Americans view driving as a routine task (i.e., not worthy of special attention), 50% of all crashes involve driver "inattention."

Safercar.gov agrees. It says 90% of vehicles in "fatal, single-vehicle rollovers involved routine driving maneuvers" and 85% of "rollover-related fatalities are single-vehicle crashes." Based on these statistics, driver behavior seems to play a crucial role in fatal rollover crashes.

At the same time that drivers are being implored to practice safe and attentive driving, automotive engineers are also eager to create new technologies to help increase roadway safety. Isn't there some fancy device that could warn a driver when he drifts into the next lane? React when another vehicle is in his blind spot? Apply the brakes before a crash?

Pre-crash mitigation systems attempt to combat some of the common causes of automobile accidents through warnings and automatic adjustments. Such systems are the focus of research initiatives into roadway safety and include adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, lane departure warning and side alert systems.

In a forward collision warning system, the vehicle's system literally senses the distance between it and the vehicle or object ahead of it in the lane. Predicting the possibility of an accident by sensing the distance between slower moving and stopped vehicles ahead, it warns the driver when appropriate. If a crash occurs, the system initializes precautionary measures -- such as pretensioning motorized safety belts and applying brakes. Indeed, active braking in the seconds before a collision can play a major role in crash energy reduction.

According to NHTSA, some 200,000 accidents every year are due to lane changes. To help reduce the number of these accidents, lane departure warning systems have been designed. They caution drivers when their vehicles leave their intended lanes. Using a monocular camera mounted behind the windshield, the lane departure warning system's software programs estimate lane width and road curvature, determine the vehicle's heading and lateral position and initialize a tactile, visual or audible alert to its driver when he or she crosses a line.

It's not difficult to guess, then, what side alert systems do. Using infrared sensing and other technologies, such systems help drivers become aware of vehicles in side blind spots. In some models, these sensors are integrated into mirrors, taillights and side fascia. The side blind spot region is scanned for temperature changes to detect a vehicle, a visual indication can be given in mirrors, and, when necessary, an audible alert can be issued. The technology is so advanced, sensors ignore stationary roadside objects and are immune to noise.

Once an automotive engineer has cameras, IR sensors and radars on a car, there is an opportunity to imagine and develop many more products. And, as automotive engineers perfect these systems, they are likely to become more widely available to consumers.<bio>Mike Trudel, Freelance Writer.
According to NICB officials, older cars often get stolen as parts of these cars become extremely rare and tough to come across in due course of time, of which thieves take full advantage. These vehicle thieves are extremely intelligent as they keep themselves updated with the latest trends and demands in the vehicle market, targeting the most popular vehicles and influencing and indulging in illegal export of stolen vehicle parts. The following is the list of top ten cars stolen:

* 1995 Honda Civic
* 1989 Toyota Camry
* 1991 Honda Accord
* 1994 Dodge Caravan
* 1994 Chevrolet Full Size C/K 1500 Pickup
* 1997 Ford F150 Series
* 2003 Dodge Ram Pickup
* 1990 Acura Integra
* 1988 Toyota Pickup
* 1991 Nissan Sentra

Vehicle Theft and the Impact it has on your Auto Insurance Premium. According to Lou Geremia, president of Insurnace.com, auto insurance rates are determined by companies in relation to the industry's loss history. Vehicles which are faced with a higher risk of getting stolen thus have higher insurance rates. Many companies however, provide their customers with automatic antitheft devices, which help to cut down on the insurance rates when it comes to these car makes and models.

Tips to Help Guard Your Wheels. The NICB encourages everyone to adopt the 'layered approach' and make respective cars less attractive to thieves by maintaining a low profile for cars and not being flashy in general. The four layers of protection are as follows:

Layer #1 - Common Sense. Always leave your car locked, even if you park for a very brief period of time.

Layer #2 - Warning Device. Having audible and visible proofs for your car being well protected is another way of warding off thieves. Popular second layer devices include:

* Audible alarms
* Steering column collars
* Steering wheel/Brake pedal lock
* Brake locks
* Wheel locks
* Tire locks/Tire deflators
* Theft deterrent decals
* Identification markers in or on vehicle
* Window etching
* Laminated glass

Layer #3 - Immobilizing Device. You must try and avail a device which prevents bypass ignition and hot-wiring of the vehicle. While some electronic gadgets function through computer chips in the ignition keys, others prevent the flow of fuel to the engine by virtue of having some secret button. Recommended third layer devices include:

* Smart keys
* Fuse cut-offs
* Kill switches
* Starter, ignition and fuel disablers

Layer # 4 - Tracking Device. Vehicle-tracking device is the best possible tool you can have while trying to battle vehicle thieves. The tracking system sends off signals to the local police station or monitoring station whenever reported stolen. Tracking devices like OnStar always help in the recovery of stolen vehicles.

Take action. If by chance your vehicle does get stolen, you will want to contact your local police department immediately. Make sure to have the following information on hand:

When contacting the police department becomes necessary on account of car makes and models having been stolen, ensure that you have the following information at hand:

* Year, make, model, and color of your car
* Your license plate number
* VIN (Make sure to have your VIN number in a file or secure spot.)
* Approximate time when the car was stolen
* Location where the car was parked
* Names of eye witnesses, if any

Next you will be required to get in touch with your insurance company, which will consider your claim only when you hand over your policy number and details of the incident to your auto insurance agent. When car makes and models are stolen, it usually takes an insurance company about 30 days to settle the stolen vehicle claim.<bio>Find the best deal on the auto insurance coverage you need.
Mary just needed a few small items from the grocery store. It was a beautiful day, the sun was shining, the air was crisp, not a cloud in sight. So, she said goodbye to her husband and their kids, and headed out the door of their home for a brisk walk to the store. Just an hour away from two young children and a husband whose afternoon sandwich had used up the last of the turkey breast, bread, and mayonnaise in the house... gotta get some more before it's time to get dinner started, because there'd be no time later that evening.

Unfortunately, Mary chose the same time for her jaunt to the market as when her neighbor Suzie was leaving to walk Fang and Kidney, her two English mastiffs. As Mary walked past the dogs, they pulled free from Suzie's grip on their leashes, and set upon her. The leashed dogs -- with a combined weight of 233 pounds -- mauled Mary for about five minutes before Suzie could pull them back into her place.

Suzie was injured in her valiant effort to stop Fang and Kidney, but Mary died four hours later, after being rushed to the hospital by paramedics who performed CPR on her in a vain hope to restore a heartbeat. Surgeons spent almost two hours repairing the veins and arteries of her neck. Some of wounds were 1 1/2 inches deep, and doctors had to insert a tube into her throat to support her trachea. She remained in "very critical" condition for 70 minutes after surgery before dying.

This might never have happened if Mary -- knowing these two powerful attack dogs lived next door -- had carried an electronic dog repeller with her when she walked out the door that day. Using the latest ultrasonic technology, the Dog Chaser produces a discomforting but not harmful, high frequency sound, audible to dogs but not to humans.
Pursuing an online degree may not be possible for everybody. In this mode of learning, you always have to depend on the Internet. There will be no traditional classroom setting and no teacher in front of you. So the distance learning or online programs require your commitment and self-discipline. Students who have the following characteristics will excel in the online education.

Students who are comfortable enough and friendly in the use of computer, latest technology and software will be better positioned and should go for an online course. If you are not comfortable in operating computer, you should not opt for an online course. You have to sit and work at the computer and the internet for learning and collecting materials for the course.

Those who are self-disciplined and self-motivated will do better in online education. You have to motivate yourself in reading and learning process in online degree programs. You have to prepare your own study schedule and timetable for completing the course materials. Of course the college or the university will have the deadline in submitting the course assignment and for the final exams. So student those who have all these characteristics will definitely help themselves more than those who do not have these features.

Persons who have an ambition to better their lifestyle, to get a raise and advance their career, they will do better in an online course. Online education in not for those who are joining it just to have something to do in the evenings. You cannot complete a course just by this way. You have to give time, you have to read, learn and memorize the lessons in the distance learning program.

If you are quite and reserved, you can be more successful than persons who are extrovert and flourish when others are around. In online learning, you have to study all alone in solitude. You can interact with others through the internet but you will not see them. You will not have teachers in front of you to guide and tell you what to do and what not to do.

Students who are good in comprehension will do better in distance learning programs. If you read the information several times to understand what is being said and find it difficult to comprehend the information when read, and learn better through visual or audible techniques, you should not opt for online program.

In an online course, you will have to write and convey your answer through the internet. So if you are not good in writing, you may face problems in the learning process. If you are good enough in writing, you will do better.

If your current job involves you in more traveling and you do not have time, it may not be possible for you to pursue an online course. So it is better to judge yourself whether you are a good fit or not before choosing an online program so that you will get success in your efforts. <bio>Manu Goel is the senior editor at http://www.keydgeree.com. </bio>

Talking to people who work for you about their performance is one of the most difficult tasks in the workplace. But, there are three quick changes to the way they talk about other people's behavior/performance that will dramatically improve the odds of a successful outcome.

First, put the description of behavior you're talking about ahead of the reason why you're having the conversation. That keeps those emotional protective shields from going up and blocking real communication.

This is hard to do, because most of our parents, early bosses, and role models did it just the opposite way. That means that you will, almost naturally, do the less effective thing unless you make a conscious effort.

I suggest that you rehearse your opening. That will help you put the behavior ahead of the reason for chatting. You'll probably have to practice the change, too.

Describe behavior the Joe Friday way. Just the facts. Drain off the adjectives. Then follow the description of behavior with a brief description of why that behavior matters.

The behavior you describe must be something visible or audible. It must be something that could be witnessed and can be described.

Do not, ever, use the words andquot;attitudeandquot; or andquot;always.andquot; Limit your discussion to observable behavior. Be specific about what happened and when.

Finally, once you've had your say, shut up. Wait for your subordinate to talk.

There are a couple of things that can happen next. Your subordinate might agree that you've got things right. Your subordinate might dispute your description of what happened.

Either way, you can now come to agreement on behavior. Then you're on your way to a meaningful discussion of how behavior should be different in the future. And what the consequences are for good and bad behavior.

This is simple and gets great results. So why don't more of us do it more of the time?

The answer to that one is easy. Old habits are hard to break and just about everyone we emulate did it the other way. If you do the preparation and practice to get these three things right, your conversations with subordinates about behavior will be much more productive. <bio>Wally Bock is an author, speaker, consultant and coach who helps leaders improve the performance and morale of their teams.
For millions of Americans who walk, run, jog, or cycle in public parks, city streets, or rural neighborhoods the threat from a dog or a pack of dogs attacking is a daily reality. I see more and more anecdotal evidence as I make the rounds in the heartland-walking sticks, canes, anything long that can be used as a weapon against a dog attack.

I even know of a couple in Colorado who are using a stun baton to protect themselves and their dog when out walking.

Each year man's best friend bites that friend 4.7 million times according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Of those, 800,000 Americans seek medical attention annually for dog bites-half of these are children. Of those injured approximately 386,000 require emergency room treatment and about 12 die annually again according to the CDC.

Now there are two tools that can be used as self defense weapons for protection against dog attacks. The first is Mace Canine Dog Repellent. This EPA approved product is a Mace spray in a hand held flip top container with a Velcro like attachment making it easy to attach to bikes, clothes etc. It has ten one second bursts that go 8-10 feet.

The second is the Dog Chaser Dog Repeller. It uses high tech ultrasonic technology that sends out high frequency sounds audible to dogs but not humans. These ultrasonic sounds stop approaching dogs up to 15 feet away. This device is useful for training dogs as well.

These are both perfect solutions to an ever present problem of dog attacks for anyone who walks, runs, jogs or cycles outdoors or makes their living making deliveries-mail carriers, milkmen, UPS and Fed Ex drivers, etc.

Find out more about this at the links below. <bio>Take action and purchase a <a href="http://www.aaa-safetyfirst.com/dogchaser.htm" >http://www.aaa-safetyfirst.com/dogchaser.htm DOG CHASER DOG REPELLER or a http://www.aaa-safetyfirst.com/dogrepellent.htm MACE CANINE DOG REPELLER http://www.aaa-safetyfirst.com SIGN UP TODAY FOR FREE SELF DEFENSE TIPS AND SPECIAL OFFERS ON GREAT SELF DEFENSE PRODUCTS </bio>

When I was a baby, the only thing my parents used to keep track of me in my crib was their own ears. I grew up in the days before all the fancy baby gadgetry and a baby alarm to keep tabs on the baby would have seemed as strange to my parents as a nanny spy cam.

To keep track of what I was doing in my crib, they would stay within hearing range of my room and if they heard me cry out, they would come in and check on me. They did not have the luxury of a baby alarm sounding whenever I cried, like parents raising kids today do.

The whole collection of baby observing devices began with a good idea. People were looking for a way to monitor their babies when they were far away, like downstairs in the kitchen while the baby was upstairs sleeping in its crib. A simple device called the baby monitor was born, and this is the least complex of all the monitoring devices.

It's a simple one way speaker that allows you to hear what's going on in the baby's room from anywhere in the house. Next up in complexity for monitoring devices are the baby cams, which allow you to see as well as hear what's going on in your baby's room. Last is the baby alarm which actually monitors the baby for sound and then sets off an audible alert for parents when the baby makes a noise.

I've heard of parents using a baby alarm for newborns that goes off if the baby stops breathing for any amount of time. This is usually a solution for parents who fear that their child may be at risk for sudden infant death condition. Though the baby alarm has still not been shown to be successful in avoiding sudden infant death, and some babies still die from this unknown epidemic every year. The baby alarm in this case, would provide the parents the peace of mind of knowing that they're doing something, even if it's not all that effective, to avoid disaster.

The best advice I received when my son was small was to turn off the monitor and not worry so much because the baby would definitely let us know if he needed us. Babies can be very noisy, especially while they sleep, and it does no good to wake up for every little sound or cry through the night. A real problem will result in ear piercing cries that could travel through sheetrock and once you realize this, it makes buying a baby alarm or other type of expensive monitoring device seem silly. <bio>Linda E.
Why have monitored alarm systems? The point of having a monitored security system is that if a break-in occurs, the right authorities can be notified and dispatched. Your business or home is protected 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This gives peace of mind knowing that your home or business is protected. You also have the use of the three panic buttons (police, fire and medical). And further, having a monitored alarm system can save you up to 20% off your home insurance.

Is the security system easy to use? A security system is very easy to use; the installer will provide basic training on the system after installation. Usually a security system comes with a complete manual that will provide further information about the security system. Some companies offer a 14-day orientation program. And if you attend the orientation program, there will be no dispatch until the 14-day period is over. Also the customer care department from you installer will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have.

Is the system hard-wired or wireless? You can get both hardwired and wireless equipment. It all depends on the location you are on. In a residential setting where the basement is finished and where there is no access to the ceiling, then it is possible to install a wireless system. If there is access to the basement ceiling then you need to install the hardwired system. Every home is different, and security consultants are trained to be able to present you the most suitable system and design for your location and your needs.

Can I use my system only when no one is home? A security system can be designed in many ways to suit your way of life. You can pick from various levels of protection. For instance when you are not home you can have all the motion sensors and contacts activated. And if you are at home you can choose which zones are activated. Some peripherals such as smoke detectors must always be active, whether the system is armed or disarmed. Your security consultant can usually help you design a system that would best fit your needs and everyday life.

What happens if the burglar cuts my phone line? Generally monitored alarm systems use the phone line to send a signal to the monitoring station. If the line is cut no one knows there is a break-in. The siren will still be audible though. If you want to have equipment that can handle the case where your phone line is cut, that is possible. Your security consultant can advise you the best course of action. <bio>Huge amount of information about Home Protection http://www.home-protection-e.com on this website.
If you are going to choose one of the best gadgets out today, the iPhone is really one of the best options that you can have. It is tagged to be an all-around gadget that will be a necessity and at the same time be entertaining. It has several important features that a cell phone must have like picking up a call, browsing the Internet and all other major sorts of specs that phones typically have. In addition to that an iPod that will surely give your solemn times a twist. Now, one great feature that you have to consider is the ring tone feature. Now, let's discuss what good it can bring when we are using the iPhone.

1. If you want to be unique with your ring tone, you can actually have it done with your own iTunes. Can you believe that? Yes, as a matter of fact, you can mix and match whatever music you want to include as your tune. Make your own remix!

2. Know who is calling at all times. With your iPhone, you can make it possible to assign a certain ring tone to someone whom you want to identify. With assigning a ringtone of your choice to that persons number, you will already recognize who is calling you ahead of time. How great is that? You no longer have to scamper around the screen and see who is calling.

3. With iTunes available, it is very easy for you to access music that can be turned into your own ring tone. Well, if you just love a track so much and you just want to listen to it all the time, get it fresh from iTunes and assign it to be your ring tone. After all, if you get tired of it, you can simply change it at your convenience.

4. They say Macintosh products are very hard to use but do you know that you are just fooled by believing it? Once you get used to using a Mac, you will really appreciate it and probably think it's better than anything else. When dealing with the iPhone, it's no different. While talking about the ring tones it can have, you would be astounded at how you can easily navigate it for your own preference. Choose among the songs that you have and you will surely love how it works.

5. It serves as an audible caller ID. How comfortable do you think that will make you feel for you to get your own audio caller ID within your cell phone? Truly, it is such a great way for you to name it and benefit from it alot. All you have to do is assign a certain tone to a certain contact so it will be easy for you to recognize.

So you see, the iPhone is really the best phone that you would want to own. There has never been a time in history where man has had such technology. Home phones are virtually becoming obsolete as cell phones gain in popularity. Once you own one, you will start to use it and learn from it at the same time. The iPhone is on the cutting age of not only the wireless phone industry but also a communication revolution.<bio>If you are looking for high quality iphone ringtones then look no further. RingtoneFeeder has a huge selection of iphone ringtones with a free trial offer.</bio>

We know that every person who is learning a new language have its own reason for learning the foreign language. But if you are planning to learn to speak a foreign language, specifically to learn Spanish, be glad because you can now learn this popular language online. As what I just mentioned earlier, there could be numerous reasons why people want to learn Spanish. You may want to learn Spanish because of the job, and being bilingual means more opportunities for any job seeker. Maybe because you want to travel to those Spanish speaking countries just like Mexico and Spain, or you just want to learn Spanish because of the challenge that it will give to for learning it. Whatever reason you have in your mind, you just need to find an accredited website and start learning from their syllabus online. Make sure that you will give time for yourself to learn because learning a new language can't be done overnight. It would take time to learn Spanish, and you need to have patience and good teacher, which a good website can provide to you. Sometimes, learning a foreign language can be boring but it can be fun if it's taught the right way.

Looking for a Good Website

Learning Spanish online can be quite different from other methods lying around the market, that's why you have to make sure that the website you have chosen to learn Spanish have a complete set of tools that will help and guide you to learn effectively. Make sure that they provide audio, so that you can be more familiar and be able to speak the right accent or pronunciation of words. The proper way for you to speak the language correctly is to hear the language spoken. If you have come across a site that will let you interact with it, and also provides enough audible, then you know that you have found a site that is worth of your time. Even they charge, you can make sure that it's also worth your money.

Give Time to Learn

To benefit more from learning Spanish online is to allot few hours each day. Learning a new language is not to done once a week but it should be done consistently so it would remain in your mind. If you are thinking what the best time to learn Spanish is, then you should choose to study on your free time. Some people may prefer to learn Spanish in morning after waking up, as their mind are still fresh. And some want to learn right before to go to bed. Whatever time you prefer, try to learn Spanish everyday on the same time because that way, it will become your habit and that's the best way to learn a foreign language.

How do you know if it's Effective?

Everything you have done will be useless if it isn't working. And you will know that you are learning if you are able to think of some phrases and words in your everyday life. If you are able to come up with sentences in Spanish and even think in Spanish, then you are on the right track in learning your new foreign language. To learn more effectively, then you should submerse yourself in the culture and talk to native speakers. If you can hold up a conversation in Spanish with a native Spanish speaker, then you can say that you are now able to speak Spanish fluently; which is your ultimate goal in learning Spanish online.<bio>John Platiko is a learn to speak Spanish lover and uses some of the most popular and effective Spanish courses available like Tell Me More Spanish.</bio>

Skydiving Supplies What You Need To Know

When you attend a skydiving certification course you will be able to hire all the skydiving supplies you need for the duration. However if you are serious about the sport you are going to need to equip yourself for action. Your basic equipment needs to begin with are a jump suit, goggles, and helmet. You may also like to buy your own altimeter and gloves.

Some of the equipment you will come across when shopping for skydiving supplies explained:

Altimeter -- This is a device used by skydivers to measure the altitude above a landing area.This lets the diver known when its time to release the canopy.

Audible Altimeter -- This sounds an alarm when the diver reaches a pre-set altitude

Canopy -- This is the major component of a parachute.It is the material that is connected by lines to the harness that provides wind resistance and makes deceleration possible.

Pilot Chute -- This is a small chute that works in conjunction with the main chute to speed up or initiate deployment.

Harness -- What connects the diver to the chute and restrains the diver in position.

Automatic Activation Device -- An Electro-mechanical devise that automatically deploys the reserve chute at a pre set time or velocity.

Containers -- This is the bag that holds the chute until deployment.

Depending on your level of experience you can look into varying types of canopies and other devices that will affect the speed and control of your jumps. Some of the major suppliers of canopies include Icarus, Precision Aerodynamics and Aerodyne. You might also use other equipment such as knives, creepers, drag mats and windsocks. Skydiving supplies range from beginner products to professional and custom designs.

There are other components that you will come across when learning about equipment that are more advanced. Components such as rigging and static lines will effect your ability to control and maneuver your parachute. You will also be using toggles these are the mechanisms that are attached to the lines that allow you to slow your speed when you are about to land. They act as a break mechanism so that you can cont-rol your descent. <bio>John Ewing contributes adding articles and reviews to http://www.skydiving-parachuting-guide.com .
Mescaline is an illegal hallucinogen that can be found naturally in certain cacti species, including the peyote cactus and the San Pedro cactus. The top of the cactus is cut close to the ground and then dried. The small button like crowns of the plant can be eaten or soaked in water, but, because of the unpleasant, bitter taste, mescaline is most often ground into a fine powder and placed into capsules for easier consumption. Mescaline can also be produced synthetically and is often used to make psychedelic tea.

Mescaline users typically ingest four to twenty buttons, or capsules, per dose. The average effective dosage is 500 mg, but hallucinations can begin after 300 mg. A typical high can last up to twelve hours. Mescaline is, however, much less potent than similar hallucinogens, like LSD and psilocybin. This drug is popular because of the altered, dreamy state of consciousness it produces, along with visual and audible hallucinations, often said to be enlightening and enjoyable.

Besides intense hallucinations, mescaline users may also experience a number of other side effects. Uncontainable laughter and dreamy visions with the eyes both open and closed are common, as well as new and unusual thinking processes. Euphoric and psychedelic states are also experienced under the influence of mescaline. Users usually have dilated pupils while on the drug, and may feel hot and cold sensations.

Mescaline can also cause users to become irrational in their thinking or the user may experience feelings of anxiety and waves of hatred. Headaches, dizziness, and nausea are common side effects as well. Mescaline use can also accelerate the users heart rate, sometimes to an unhealthy level that could be fatal. Large doses of mescaline can lower the body's glucose level, possibly causing unconsciousness, or can induce convulsions, heart failure, and death due to respiratory failure.

Although mescaline does not create a physical dependency in users, the drug can be moderately addictive because of the possibility of psychological dependency. There are a number of organizations available to help those who have problems with mescaline addiction, as well as other drugs. These organizations understand the problems caused by both physical and psychological substance dependencies, and treat the addiction accordingly. <bio>The author would like you to visit http://www.markhoustonrecovery.com/mescaline_addiction_and_dependency.php and http://www.markhoustonrecovery.com/sitemap.php </bio>
