Employees have been known to take excessive days off leading to production problems for many companies. One of the solutions is employee attendance incentives. These are usually rewards given to employees as an incentive to limit their absences from work to a specified number of days.

The perceived benefits of employee attendance incentives are to give the employee some control over their income, and give them a greater sense of responsibility for their jobs. They are also meant to stimulate the employee to work harder than they might otherwise and perhaps find a more effective way to get people to go to work more consistently. However the employee attendance incentive has to be something of value to the employees it is meant to motivate. Without a sense of value, the desire to do better will not be there and attendance will not improve.

Many companies run these employee attendance incentive programs on a quarterly basis to retain interest year round. They realize that if you run the program yearly, many employees might loose interest before the end of the year and the program will not have the intended effects.

Control over income is a persuasive argument for employee attendance incentives. However this motivation is only temporary, since money is an ineffective long term motivator for a lot of people. Also employees have little ability in reality to alter their behavior significantly in order to affect their earning potential. However employee attendance incentives are meant to provide employees with a motivating factor to avoid unnecessary absenteeism. They are meant as rewards for reducing absenteeism.

The types of incentive programs used by companies are numerous. Some popular employee attendance incentives are things like cash bonuses, gift certificates, travel rewards and big ticket items such as electronics. Some companies allow employees to cash-in unused sick days at the end of every quarter, others give an employee two hours of bonus pay for every month of perfect attendance; and still others provide employees with a buffet lunch, a certificate of achievement, or even a scratch-off card concealing prizes.

One of the most important things to keep in mind is that the employee attendance incentive program that is used should be catered to your company and employees. This is easily accomplished by allowing employees to help you develop the incentive program. Furthermore, their participation in the inception of this employee attendance incentive may very well be a motivator in and of itself.

The duration of the employee attendance incentive program is also vital, and allowing your employees to help determine the length of time between incentives. Some companies find that simply rewarding employees with perfect attendance once a year works for them, while others decide once a month suits their situation better, and still others decide once quarterly or even once a week works best. The general rule of thumb is to reward workers more frequently the younger they are and the more difficult the work is to perform, however knowing your employees is what best determines what duration to put on your employee attendance incentive program. Also, it is best to start with small incentives and work up to larger ones if necessary, since if you start with the larger ones, what more can you add to make the employee attendance incentive program more attractive after the novelty has worn off? <bio>Mario Churchill is a freelance author and has written over 200 articles on various subjects.
Time clocks have long been a key factor for businesses in keeping track of the hours their employees work. Way back, when time clocks first came into existence, it was the old fashion punch clock. Believe it or not people still use these trusty old things. This was a time when all record keeping was performed by hand. Unimaginable isn't it? In this day in age, everything is simply done magically by electronics and smart computers. This includes keeping track of time and attendance for businesses.

Enter stage right, one fabulous piece of time and attendance software. This works to make life easier for businesses and its management. So much easier than the traditional punch clock. Everything is automated and it can be customized for your specific business needs and size. The beauty of time clock software is that it can keep track of a variety of key factors in your business and not simply the times your employees clock in and out of work each day.

While keeping track of when your employees clock in and out of work is important and still a very necessary step with regard to wages, businesses have come to rely on time and attendance software for a variety of other things as well. For example, the right time clock software will keep track of multiple areas, that are essential to large businesses that have a number of different buildings or floors in the buildings. A time and attendance software can determine the exact amount of time each employee is to be paid for, as well.

Choosing the right time clock software can also help you monitor overtime hours worked. This can help you determine if too many hours are being worked in your business and help to cut back on overtime hours. It can also help you in determining the hours spent on a specific project. This aids your business in knowing where the most time was spent, if it was spent properly and even bill clients on a time based project.

There is a variety of methods that allow the software to read the date and allows you to choose the method you prefer. For example, you could use a small plastic card that contains a magnetic strip or a bar code on the back for easy time punching for your employees. There is also a time and attendance software that will allow employees to enter a specific PIN number assigned to them for clock in and out times. Some software even goes as far as to read fingerprints, retinas or handprints to allow access to certain areas.

The options are limitless. Many of the different time clock software products that are available on the market today can be customized to fit the exact needs and wants of your particular business. With the right time and attendance software, any business can easily keep track of time worked, employee attendance, overtime worked, project hours and avoid errors in pay that will ultimately save the business money. <bio>John Furnem is a dot com veteran, specializing in personality psychology he has written articles and held seminars for stress management and Work Life Balance.
Automated time and attendance systems have been available to and cost effective for larger businesses for several years. However, high acquisition and installation costs have historically made such systems impractical for small to medium sized companies to implement. That has recently changed, and there are now several time and attendance systems available to smaller businesses -- and they do increase payroll accuracy and company profitability.

Since the beginning of history, technology has been used to increase accuracy and productivity. It started with the invention of the wheel and has snowballed into automobiles, computers, satellites, and so much more. These technologies have allowed users to accomplish more work in less time with a higher level of accuracy. Automated time and attendance systems are no exception.

Automated time and attendance systems track hours worked, overtime, as well as missed or late punches. . Not only does this eliminate the number of personnel hours needed to process payroll, but it also eliminates losses from inaccurate data entry, buddy punching, and inaccurate time car completion.. Automated time and attendance systems provide instant, accurate, tamper-proof information.

There are several different types of time and attendance systems available for small and medium sized businesses: Barcode time clocks, magnetic stripe time clocks, RFID (proximity) time clocks, and biometric time clocks.

Barcode time clocks -- Each employee is issued a unique barcode on a badge. The employee must pass his or her badge through the machine for scanning.

Magnetic Stripe time clocks -- Similar to the barcode system, each badge is equipped with a magnetic stripe, much like that on a credit card. When the badge is swiped through the time clock, the information is read from the card and entered into the system.

RFID (Proximity) time clocks -- With this type of time and attendance system, the employee needs only to wave his or her badge near (not necessarily through) the time clock in order for the information to be captured and logged.

Biometric -- With a biometric time and attendance system, employees clock in and out using their fingerprint. While this has historically been the most expensive type of system, the technology advances in biometrics have now made this surprisingly affordable and popular. . This is most effective in preventing inaccurate time cards and buddy punching. It also reduces losses associated with damaged, misplaced, or stolen badges.

Because smaller businesses are very ready and willing to adopt technology and are doing so at a very rapid pace, vendors are catering to this niche market. The entry-level pricing on a time and attendance system starts at around $500 with complete biometric time and attendance solutions starting under $1,000. Most systems are ready to use right out of the box but are scalable to fit any sized business. Time and attendance systems are easily connected to a PC or a network and are easy to install.

These systems protect companies from losses associated with employee dishonesty and human error andreduce the personnel hours required to process payroll. With a minimum investment, it is very simple for small and medium sized businesses to ensure accuracy of payroll and increase profitability through the use of a time and attendance system. A study by APA shows that by adapting an automated time and attendance system, companies can realize up to a 4% savings of their annual payroll. <bio>By a freelance writer for http://WaspBarCode.com/: http://www.waspbarcode.com/ providing Automated time and attendance systems: http://www.waspbarcode.com/ .
Did you know that only 50% of people who start filling out your registration form will actually complete it?

This is a scary statistic. Imagine how much more successful your event would be if you could get just half of those "undecided" folks to register. Imagine how much more energy there would be in the room, not to mention how much extra cash would be in your company's bank account.

It's NOT an insignificant number.

This is why automatic follow-up with registrants who "bail out" before they're done securing their seat is very important.

Online registration makes life far easier on both event planners and registrants, but the right system can also increase attendance and decrease cost for your company.

If you don't have an automated way of tracking folks who abandon registration forms half way through and following up with them, you're leaving a lot of money on the table. No, it's worse than that. You're burning up cash that would otherwise be yours!

Think I'm over exaggerating? Think again...

Let's say you're shooting for 200 people at your event. And let's say 300 people hit the registration form. If 50% of them bail out during the registration process, you're left with only 150 registrations. But if you're able to capture even 20% of those who started to register but didn't finish, that's an additional 30 registrants! Of course, the numbers will be different for every event. And, the larger the expected turnout, the larger the impact.

This is where the automatic follow-up comes in. If you have this capability, you can often persuade 20%, 30%, or more to come to your event who would not have come otherwise.

If you're a full-time event planner, you'll look good in front of your superiors for increasing attendance. And if you're a business owner, you'll experience the joy of a fatter bank account.

Right now, most event registration systems do not offer automatic follow-up with people who started to register but didn't finish, but it's a capability worth searching for because it can offer you great rewards.

Make sure to find a system that will encourage `fence sitters' to come to your event rather than give up on it because it is an easy an effective way to increase your attendance and profit for every event. I sincerely hope this article makes your conference and event registration even more successful! <bio>For more great tips like this one, please visit http://www.RegOnline.com </bio>

Although biometrics had been around for many years, companies had not looked at the opportunities and benefits it provides in regards to time and attendance systems. The term biometrics is defined as utilizing one or more physical characteristics to automatically identify people. However, teaming up biometrics with a time and attendance system, can offer companies the ability to make "buddy-punching" (an employee clocking another employee in or out on their behalf) much more difficult than it has been in the past.

Companies both small and large can lose enormous amounts of money each year from this practice. Recently Nucleus Research published a report finding that annually, companies can save an average of 2.2% just by using biometric time and attendance systems. It's no wonder that just its money saving opportunities have made it so popular.

In recent years, corporations such as McDonald's, Burger King and Krispy Kreme have started using fingerprint-based time and attendance systems, realizing the benefits that these systems have to offer. These systems work by scanning a fingerprint (measures various points in a fingerprint) and allowing a time stamp to be recorded if the fingerprint matches. There are several benefits for companies small and large including:

• Easy and fast implementation. • The elimination of "buddy-punching". • The elimination of exaggerated employee labor hours. • Easy cancellation of terminated employee privileges. • There are no badges that need issuing, replacing or recovering. • Reports can be easily generated of an employee's time such as total number of hours worked, times tardy, early outs or overtime hours. • Ability to reduce payroll or data entry errors. • Unauthorized access can be identified from a current or terminated employee.

Biometric time and attendance systems are available through several computer and office retailers, both in-store and online. There are many choices and options available, and it is easy to reap confusion in attempting to understand the differences. The best systems available offer a reliable, easy-to-use system that includes a set amount of licenses. They include the option to purchase additional Ethernet cables to support via network or direct to PC. They also offer several reports to analyze employee reporting, as well as offer a lifetime free technical support for your questions for the life of the product. It is important to also verify that the system offers support of the company's payroll routine (weekly, biweekly, bimonthly and monthly) and has the ability to capture an employee's time off, such as vacation or sick days.

Take some time today to educate yourself and check in to biometric time and attendance systems. Maximizing the profitability and production of a company is crucial to its success. Time and money saved with these systems can definitely increase both. <bio>By a freelance writer for http://WaspBarCode.com: http://www.waspbarcode.com/wasptime/ providing Automated time and attendance systems: http://www.waspbarcode.com/wasptime/. While the idea of tracking the time and attendance of an employee remains virtually the same, the systems used to do it have vastly changed.

Since the 1990's, computed based systems have become widely used to track an employee's time. This can be done in many ways from using a magnetic card to scanning finger prints. While time tracking can be beneficial to any size or type of business, the benefits for a small to medium sized business are tremendous.

* Money Savings -- it is estimated that up to 4% can be saved of annual payroll with a time and attendance system. With the hardships small businesses face these days, any monetary savings are a benefit. There are less data entry errors when payroll is calculated or attendance is recorded. The savings are increased when a biometric system is utilized. Biometric systems utilize one of more physical characteristics (such as finger prints) to identify an employee.

* Eliminates "buddy-punching" and tracks time off -- Buddy punching is the practice of one employee clocking another employee in or out. This can cause hundreds to thousands of dollars in loss to a company. The systems can also capture and track sick time, vacation, holiday pay and conference time away from the office.

* Systems provide multiple reports -- Reports can be compiled such as a wage report, timecard report, absence report, payroll summary, attendance report, employee list, early out report and overtime report. Automatic time clock downloads can also be scheduled and most systems can provide support to all payroll scheduling needs (weekly, bi-weekly, bi-monthly and monthly).

* Easy to install -- The time and attendance software is easy to install as well as the time clocks themselves. Instructions are provided and most companies provide technical support for any additional questions or issues that arise. It is important to verify the system being purchased is compatible with any existing operating system.

While the benefits of these time clocks are more in the employers favor, they can also benefit the employees themselves. Employees can feel confident that these systems are providing accurate punches and that in turn, the employee will be paid properly.

When selecting the best time and attendance software for a company it is critical to read through the descriptions, benefits and features of the system. The ability to track this information is a highly cost-saving measure that every company should take advantage of. It also provides a more organized and comfortable atmosphere than the traditional time tracking methods can. <bio>By a freelance writer for http://WaspBarCode.com/: http://www.waspbarcode.com/wasptime/ providing Automated time and attendance systems: http://www.waspbarcode.com/wasptime/ .
Even in this day and age of computer technology, some companies are still using old fashioned employee punch clocks with cards and ink cartridges and adjustable punch keys to keep track of employee hourly attendance. You may as well use a rock and a chisel to keep track of weekly work records! Using an employee time clock of this kind is not only archaic, but also adds the extra expense of payroll personnel who would need to collect the time cards, calculate the hours, and use old fashioned means to generate the appropriate paycheck totals.

With the advent of JD Punch Clock software, you never need to worry about the manual compilation of employee hours or multiple employees hired solely just to pay the employees under your supervision. And what about losing these cards as they are stored in a wall rack for all to see and even manipulate?

Compare and see that our software is top of the line technology that guarantees data protection with our 4 redundant servers that are backed up every 30 minutes and are monitored twenty four hours a day. Even in the event of a power failure or other data-endangering crisis possibilities our system will automatically re-route itself keeping all your pertinent data and resource information safe and secure.

JD Punch Clock software is employee time tracking software that is a true 32-bit system written in Windows for Windows. Our time and attendance system can either run on an MS Access or SQL Server Database rather than old database technology, insuring that your payroll information is safe from missed indexes or deleted text files.

JD Punch Clock time and attendance software assures that your company and its employees have the most in modern punch clock software so that you will not have to spend hours installing and upgrading your software. Time and attendance management has never been easier and more convenient.

With global system updates and twenty four-seven access to your payroll information you can rest assured that your online time clock system is secure and accurate. Another benefit of an automated system is the ability to punch in or out from remote locations not at the workplace. All that is needed is computer access and the appropriate software. If your payroll includes billing different departments, it is simplicity to keep track of what department is responsible for what number of hours payed. Our time management software assures that only the employee punching in and out can report his or her hours worked using a specific PIN number and User Name.

Generate payroll and productivity reports easily and keep track of who is clocked in or out instantly with JD Punch Clock time tracking software and make your company a more organized and efficient workplace. With all the benefits and simplified payroll generation as well as a plethora of invaluable features, how can you afford not to invest in this modestly priced and state of the art time keeping software?

Again Employee Time Clock Software is the way of the future!! <bio>Samuel Matthews Sr. is the authority on Human Resource software and is the webmaster for http://www.employeepunchclock.com, with his years of experience helping to develop Time and attendance software as well as some of the most popular time clock software such as JD Punch Clock. </bio>

Are you just starting your own business, or have an existing business where you will have to keep track of just a few employees? Maybe you run a small restaurant or delivery service that has a lot of turn-around in employees. Are you manually tracking attendance and timekeeping?

Let's face it, sometimes it can be a hassle to accurately record and keep current with the hours your crew has worked and make sure you are not overpaying or underpaying the people that work for you. What every company or small corporation really needs is an accountable time clock system to insure that as an employer, you can be sure that your attendance and timekeeping records cannot be disputed.

As a small business owner, I have definitely had to come to terms in my business history with issues of John or Jane Doe complaining that my manually kept records were not accurate.. At first I introduced a simple time punch clock system that those of us who have been in the workforce for any reasonable amount of time are familiar with. You install a time punch machine on the wall somewhere in your business and a card holding rack next to it where someone in your employ (or yourself, inconveniently) is responsible for the weekly payroll, biweekly payroll, or in some rare cases monthly payroll- changing and updating of said cards.

The point here is, not only do you have to keep track of your current employees, but you also have to keep records of your past employees' time records for inference of the Internal Revenue Service as well as any issues regarding Worker's Compensation or any legal matters arising from timekeeping disputes.

Your company's efficiency and out of pocket costs can change for the better in a single transaction. How many products can offer that? Simply replacing an out of date timekeeping system will immediatly give a more professional and certainly much more secure way to make sure all your payroll data is accurate and safe. If you are using older technologies, or even calculating payroll manually, you will be amazed how much the simple and inexpensive process of acquiring and implementing JD Punch Clock Software will do for your business.

For your peace of mind and the assurance you will be able to offer current, past, and future employee's, you need to get a web based or PC installed timekeeping system! JD Punch Clock software is an extremely reliable package that will help you sleep at night because you will know who, what and where any said employee is working and their pay rate and status at the touch of a fingertip.

Look in to this practical and extremely dependable and versatile (and extremely well thought out) system of on-line care taking software that is as inexpensive as a dinner for two!! JD Punch Clock will give you the security that a mere fifty dollar investment elsewhere simply cannot be matched. Do it today.Try this system and you will absolutely not be disappointed!

The seemingly simple process of keeping track of your time and attendance will become an intrinsic part of your company's daily routine to the point where you will be proud to initiate each employee to your JD Punch Clock Software system. <bio>Samuel Matthews Sr. is the authority on Human Resource software and is the webmaster for http://www.employeepunchclock.com, with his years of experience helping to develop Time and attendance software as well as some of the most popular time clock software such as JD Punch Clock. </bio>

The Nashville Schools are bracing for a budget cut. While costs are rising at about 3.4% due to inflation and other needed costs, the increase in the overall budget is only 1.1%. Despite the Nashville Schools best efforts to insure this deficit is not felt by students-there will certainly be changes felt by the loss of 40 classroom teachers and almost 100 custodians.

While the cuts will hurt some areas of the district, the Nashville Schools will still have some winners in the budget game. Several positions will be added, programs kept or expanded, and critical concerns addressed. For starters, there will be an overall increase in guidance counselors and attendance counselors. These are two positions that are expected to improve overall student success in Nashville Schools by steering students towards appropriate programs, and by ensuring regular and consistent attendance.

The Nashville Schools will continue to fund its attendance initiative. One key part of that is the automated `phone home' program that notifies parents if their children are absent from school. Nashville Schools feel this is a vital program to keep parents informed of their child's attendance, and to hold parents accountable. Also, slated to be kept on the budget for Nashville Schools, is the credit recovery program for both middle and high school students. This program allows students to earn missing credits in order to move up to the next grade level and to graduate on time. The Nashville Schools have seen an overall increase in the number of students graduating on time since its implementation.

The safety officers at each high school will actually see an increase in their numbers as both parents and administrators feel that they are necessary to keep students in Nashville Schools safe. In addition to safety officers, behavior specialists will be placed in schools with the most behavior challenges to help resolve these issues and have a positive impact on the academic lives of these students. The Nashville Schools will also be adding several special education teachers to better serve special needs students. The highly gifted students of the Nashville Schools will see an increase of nine new classrooms for highly gifted students in kindergarten through fourth grade.

A control clerk will be added to the textbook department which will save thousands of dollars a year in lost and misplaced textbooks. The Nashville Schools estimate they lose thousands of dollars each year in books that the school board simply can't trace. The Nashville Schools will also see an increase in the budget for charter schools. While charter schools aide in the education of students of the metro Nashville area, they deplete funds from other schools where teachers and supplies must be kept on hand even though the student population drops. There are also slight increases in the budget for materials, technology information, routine classroom supplies and clerical supplies. The Nashville schools also made an increase in their budget to cover the inflationary costs of fuel, natural gas, and electricity. <bio>Patricia Hawke is a staff writer for Schools K-12, providing free, in-depth reports on all U.S. public and private K-12 schools.
There are many ways to measure an employee's performance. However, the most popular tool of today that is also used by many managers all over the world is the employee scorecard. This scorecard contains metrics with specified targets and these are called KPIs. KPI means key performance indicator. As the term suggests, these are areas of performance and there is a specified target for each one. Many employers have a certain target set as expected performance. Any level of performance below these targets are deemed unacceptable, and anything beyond is something that exceeds expectations. There are hundreds and probably thousands of metrics around the world, but below are some most commonly used KPI examples.

CSAT

This stands for customer satisfaction. Definitely, companies need to hear the voices of their customers. Customers are the very bloodline of very business, without whom the business will not have any opportunity to expand. Before, many companies get their customers satisfaction level through surveys. In many fast food chains and restaurants, there are survey forms available in counter stations, and customers can pick up and fill out these forms as they please. Now, with the advent of the Internet, companies simply send these surveys through emails. The responses of the customers will then give the company a clear picture of the processes that they can improve on. These comments from customers can also provide adequate information on how to improve service down to the employee level, especially in customer service industries, like the BPO or Business Process Outsourcing industry.

Quality

There is no doubt that companies can only improve business by adhering to a set of standards called quality. Quality is very important in any business because this is an unbiased form of judgment and this is the method used for internal control. This is a means of ensuring that all products and services are at par with customer specifications and expectations as the company has promised. From time to time, human beings will have lapses at work, but any quality personnel will see to it that the same defect or mistake should not be repeated again by the same employee.

Attendance and Tardiness

There are many companies that do not have much bearing on attendance or tardiness, especially in the sales industry in which employees are sent out in the field to sell and reach a certain quota. Once this quota is reached, the employee has the option to stay at home as much as he wants to. However, attendance is a serious issue in many industries, especially in manufacturing since people are needed to operate the machines. This is also a critical metric in the call center industry because service is delivered to customers real time. There has to be a person manning the phones, so if a customer calls, someone will attend to his concerns.

These are only few of the most common KPI examples. There are many more out there and these metrics or key performance indicators vary from one company and industry to another. This is because one company has a different strategy and priority from the others.<bio>If you are interested in KPI examples, check this web-site to learn more about roi examples.</bio>

If you are currently attending a college or university you most likely understand the high cost of tuition. The prices of going to college seem to just keep rising over the years. With such high tuition costs it is important to make sure we get the most out of college. We all want to go to college to better ourselves and get a good job in the future. If you are another one suffering for the prices make sure you are getting the most out of college as well. How can we do that? Easily read below and find out how you can start getting the most for your dollars spent on college.

Choosing classes -- You want to make sure that once you sign up for a class you stick with it. Don't sign up for a class if you're unsure whether you will like it or not. Dropping classes is one of the worst things you can do in college. Since classes are so expensive you want to make sure you take the right classes. When we drop a class we can loose up to all our money we put into the class.

Do well -- If you're serious about a future career you need to be serious about your classes too. You want to make sure you get good grades and pass all your classes exceeding the minimum grade you can get. If you do poorly in the class not only will you most likely end up dropping it but you'll loose a lot of money in the end. Also if you do drop it you will realize you just sat in the class, miserable for nothing.

Be there -- When you sign up for a class you find out what days and times you need to be there. Since you know this information, do what it says. Going to class is one of the most important things in college. If you miss just one day you may be missing a pop quiz, a very important lecture or your attendance may go against you. Often in college professors mark you down for attendance and if you have so many they can fail you.

Professor -- Be sure you talk with your professor and ask any questions you want. When we pay for our classes we also pay for the professors so take advantage of them! They've learned everything you're learning so ask them questions. Stay after class or ask during class what ever works for you. Your professor is your best source in college so ask away.

Textbook -- You pay such a high price for the book so make sure you use it. Your textbook can be just as good as getting information from your professor. Also a book is always something you can refer to so take advantage of it and get your money's worth.

There is a lot you can do in college to make sure you get your money's worth. College is a very expensive thing and is also very important. If you want to get the most out of college be sure you keep the ideas above in mind.<bio>Compare student credit cards and find more of Tom's work at FINDcollegecards.com.</bio>

The best side to learn leadership from is not the management side, but the employee side of the manager/employee relationship; for by being forced-fed an education about management from management, you often learn the wrong tenets and greed driven philosophy other detached managers want you to know, whereas learning leadership from the employee side drives you passionately to learn what not to do from the pain of experiencing bad management practices.

The first thing I learned about management from my experience as a trainer is that most managers are poor leaders. This is not entirely because of their lack of passion or desire; but it has more to do with the lack of time that front line managers have to learn correct leadership principles. For the most part, managers or supervisors are thrown into their given roles and expected to perform with little training involved and once they are in their roles they are caught-up in the madness of the "machine" driven by unreasonable demands to meet targeted results from out-of-touch C.E.O's or company heads, resulting in managers playing a catch-up game in which they never get caught-up. In fact, most management or supervision is so far removed from what true leadership is that a book could be written on the subject entitled, "Managers are from Mars, and Leaders are from Venus".

The most important quality which stands in glaring contrast from the two groups is the quality of leading by example. In fact today's quote featured on our website, http://cyreousquotes.com is something Albert Schweitzer once said. Eloquent in its simplicity the saying goes, "Example is Leadership!"

If you want to teach an employee good working habits for example, you can elect to draw up a list of things for that employee to do. Heck, you can put your employees all in a room for a day and cover the material and call it training if you wish; but that is not going to get the best results. That is tantamount to telling your teenagers what to do. You see how far that has gotten don't you? Telling people what to do just doesn't work. Here is what will work - leading by example. Instead of always beating that drum about attendance, weather it is showing up late for work or missing days, set the example yourself by being the first one in and the last to leave each day and don't miss a single day from work. You heard me, you can't miss a single day.

Herein lies the explanation as to why many managers don't succeed; it is because doing what they say and saying what they mean seems too difficult. You can't miss a day? That's right! The only way your leadership will work is if you can prove it can be done. You see most of American doesn't believe you can have perfect attendance; which is why attendance is the #1 cause of employee termination in this country. It is the single biggest problem leading to a company's lack of performance, customer service breakdown, lost profits, communication problems and a whole lot of other related problems. Because of this, attendance is the #1 issue with employers.

Don't think that just because you haven't been spoken to yet that your boss hasn't noticed your missed days, or showing up 15 minutes late every morning, or leaving early before your shift ends. Believe me when I say this, as sure as the sun rises each day supervisors know precisely when you are not there and they have duly noted your lack of enthusiasm for the job. For most employees, the subject is never brought up when they are fired. Other excuses are offered and employees never learn that it was their attendance that was the issue that led to their termination

For this reason I always counsel workers to go beyond the call of duty. Give the employer more than they expect. Wow them! If you keep a perfect attendance record, I guarantee that you will impress your employer. Your example will be one of a leader and in affect you will be acting in the role of a manager by doing what a manager ought to. Your raises and promotions will come quicker than most and your new position of power will give you the opportunity to lead others by example.

This applies to every aspect of life, no just work. If you are a spouse, your leadership is needed. If you are a parent your leadership is needed. You see in many homes the duality of the dysfunctional families when parents tell their kids to say no to drugs, but they do this while they are puffing on a cigarette or drinking a martini. The clich=E9 "Do as I say, not as I do" is far too well known. This is not leadership. You must lead by example if you expect success.

Today as you take on the world, remember that you are a leader. As a leader you must lead by example. Remember Schweitzer's easy-to-remember words, "Example is leadership!" If you do and you practice it you will be empowered and you will succeed! Take that to the bank! <bio>John Cyr is a retired workforce development trainer and motivational consultant who writes articles and editorials under the pen-name Johnny Cyreous, or Cyreous.
The term "Final Four" is often used to describe the final four teams remaining in a sports playoff tournament. The term is most widely used in conjunction with the final four teams participating in the annual NCAA basketball tournament. In 1974, the first public random drawing for Final Four game tickets was held. In 1975, the official NCAA publication featured the term "Final Four" for the first time as a 32-team bracket was accepted under the terms that no conference could be represented by more than two teams. By 1981, the NCAA decided to register a trademark for the "Final Four" term with a first use stated to be in 1978.

Over the next several years, the Final Four competitions became more and more popular with a greater demand for tickets and an increasing number of fans in attendance. As basketball fans scrambled to obtain Final Four tickets, players prepared for a tournament that they would hope to participate in. By 1983, the league decided that the venue, which would be chosen to hold the Final Four competition, must consist of a minimum of 17,000 seats. With the computer industry gaining in popularity, the first computerized random drawing was held by the NCAA for the public's allotment of Final Four competition tickets. In 1989, the NCAA committee determined that three of the next four competition facilities should offer a minimum capacity of 30,000 seats. With an anticipated increase in crowds, the league wanted to be prepared to house every fan who wanted a seat for it's largest fan attendance games of the season.

The NCAA determined that no team could play on their home court, which established the precedent for holding the annual tournaments on a neutral court for all teams involved. In 1990, the general public was limited to purchasing no more than two Final Four tickets. By 1996, the internet age was becoming the "norm" for newsworthy reports and, as such, the Final Four website was created. By 2003, the Final Four seating capacity was increased to 40,000 for any venue being chosen to host the annual NCAA tournaments.

Attendance at Final Four tournament games has filled arenas to nearly full capacity and done so in all-time record fashion. With no signs of slowing down, the NCAA and the Final Four tournaments are sure to continue packing the house with cheering fans hoping to see their favorite team advance to the championship.
You're not a programmer, but you've heard that online event registration will make planning your next event easier for both you and your registrants and increase attendance because registrants have instant access to all your event website and registration forms, without having to comb through multiple postcards and mailers. Most importantly, though, your registrants no longer have to worry about sending or faxing the registration form back to you, an action that can be persistently put off until it just doesn't end up happening.

Unfortunately, however, the concept of creating your own registration website and form is daunting for those of us, unskilled in the area of programming and who can =96 at best =96 pick our way through the more "advanced" functions of Excel and Access. Luckily, online registration has now become the most prevalent method of registering, and this has yielded a wide variety of online registration software that will help us create registration forms and websites customized to our events.

Personally, I prefer to work through such projects myself, finding it easier (and actually more fun) to play with the website builders myself so that I can get the look I want from my online registration form without having to constantly bug a third party with changes and suggestions. Of course, as I've already alluded, I am no programmer, so I think it is very important the my online registration company offer support and an easy to use website so that my "playing" with the builder doesn't become hair pulling, and getting slightly to angry with my innocent computer monitor.

So here are some factors I think are very important for my online registration software to offer: easily customizable forms that can be kept simple and up within minutes or that can have multiple options, including conditional logic for social events such as dinners and outings; event websites and registration forms that can be customized to match the event theme and colors of the event logo; and a support team that can help me if I just want to get something done quickly and without hassle.

Going online with your registration can increase attendance for your event while making your job easier, but it's highly important to make sure that your online registration company not only offers online registration software, but software that you can customize to your needs =96 without having to know how to program the next Google.

So, make sure that your online registration company offers not only amazing online software to ensure that you create event registration forms that will blow the socks off you registrant, but that it also offers customer support through multiple channels so that you can receive help whenever you need it for anything that might become an issue. Because your job is hectic enough without having to consistently struggle with poorly designed and difficult to use online registration software. If the company doesn't offer open, easy-to-access service before you even become a customer, then be wary of what they will offer you after they've already got you on the hook. <bio>Rachel is a member of the marketing team for RegOnline, a producer of easy-to-use http://www.regonline.com/marketing/Products/online-registration-forms.aspx registration forms, and a company dedicated to making event planners' lives easier. </bio>

The software that you choose to run your school with will be the heart and soul of your school management activities. From monitoring students, to managing your daily and monthly bills, there isn't anything that shouldn't be watched and managed with this software. Don't make this decision lightly and try to see the inherent value in the product, not just the bottom line price.

First and foremost, it has to manage your students. Track their attendance, rank, tests, schedule, family members, friends, referrals, contact info and billing info. Some schools will need more and some will need less, be sure you know what you need before you make your decision.

Next, your software should help you manage retention rates. It can do this once it has all the information about your students, their attendance and their recent progress. Simple reports will let you know what students are starting to slip in attendance or haven't progressed in their belt rank for quite some time. You'll know to pull these students aside and see if there's a way you can re-motivate them.

Notifications are an essential part of running any business and this software can keep your students up to date in a few different ways. First and foremost is email notifications that can go to the students or to their parents. There are also the options of automated phone calls and text messages to cell phones if you really need to get urgent word out, such as unexpectedly being closed for a day.

In the areas of helping you attract new business, your software can be set to automate promotions and specials amongst your students. For instance, let's say you offer birthday parties at your school. (If you don't yet, you should!) Set an automated email to go out to parents 60 days before a student's birthday offering the party and details about it. If they throw the party, you then put all the party-goers into your software as leads and associate them with the student that invited them. Now your automated emails can go to potential students and you can track if they signup for any referral programs you offer. This is just one example, but the sky is the limit.

As you look into what martial arts software you're going to use for your school, don't look at the price but at the inherent business advantages it will give you. If it helps you retain just one more student, or helps you attract just one more, it has already paid for itself. Every additional student you gain or retain is extra profit that your software has made FOR you. While we still firmly believe that investing in some Martial Arts Marketing for your website is one of the best investments you can make in your school, a good management software is essential to keeping these students interested in training once they've signed up.

If you have any questions about [Martial Arts Software], please feel free to email us anytime at info@experiencemartialarts.com. We enjoy serving the [martial arts] community.<bio>For a free consultation on how you can utilize our martial arts software, email us info@experiencemartialarts.com or visit our website at www.experiencemartialarts.com.
New Orleans Schools are, for the first time, reporting improvement since Hurricane Katrina devastated the city. In fact, many of its numbers are actually better than those before the hurricane. New Orleans Schools have improved in many of the key benchmarks that students, parents, and community members look at when assessing the strength of a school system. Below is a list of some of the important areas in which New Orleans Schools are making important strides.

Teachers- New Orleans Public Schools are going to retain 98% of its teachers into the 2007-2008 school year. This is well above the national average and a considerable achievement considering that many teachers were driven away after the storm by poor living conditions. More than 99% of those teachers are certified and a large number of those are considered "highly-qualified," an important marker for No Child Left Behind directives.

School Size- New Orleans Schools have been able to keep school size appropriate. This is an achievement post-Katrina because larger schools would have been easier to build or repair instead of several smaller schools. Studies have shown that smaller schools or learning communities within schools are more conducive to student learning.

Low Teacher to Student Ratio- Perhaps most importantly, due to strong teacher recruitment and teacher retention, New Orleans Schools is managing a low student to teacher ratio in all of its schools. Several studies have shown that teacher to student ratio is one of the most important factors in student success and learning.

Recovery- The New Orleans Schools district has signed a number of important contracts to repair and rebuild schools lost during the storm and subsequent breaching of the levies. A master plan of school infrastructure should be on the table in early 2008.

Graduation Rates- New Orleans Schools have been able to improve its graduation rate post-Katrina. In the Parish-led schools the graduation rate is as high as 95%. It is somewhat lower in charter schools and recovery district schools, but is on the rise.

Attendance Rates- New Orleans Schools has set up a unique program to improve attendance. In conjunction with a board of advisors (comprised of local business leaders), New Orleans Schools are now offering incentives for perfect and near perfect attendance. The "President's Club" awards students for going to school on time every day.

New Orleans Schools- A Long Way to Go

New Orleans Schools are in a position unique to American history. Never was a city and its infrastructure as devastated in peace time. New Orleans Schools have a tough battle cut out for them, but with improvements like the ones listed above, they are on track to a success brighter than that before the storm hit. <bio>Patricia Hawke is a staff writer for Schools K-12, providing free, in-depth reports on all U.S. public and private K-12 schools.
Beginning with the fall of 2006 school year, many high schools in the Denver schools system will close their campuses during lunchtime. This means that Denver schools students will not be allowed to leave campus to eat at nearby restaurants, fast foods, and convenience stores.

Denver schools superintendent Michael Bennet introduced the final draft of the new policy, called the Denver Plan, in the spring of 2006. Bennet believes his plan will reduce the increasing afternoon truancy within the high schools.

The Denver schools plan has taken several drafts to reach implementation. The first draft was introduced to Denver schools principals in November of 2005, suggesting that schools could submit waiver requests by April to exempt the older students in 11th and 12th grades. A second draft was presented to the Denver schools principals in February 2006, amending the original policy by stating that more time was needed to determine how the policy would be implemented. At a March meeting of the Denver schools principals, administrators presented the final plan, which requires all freshmen to remain on campus. Waivers may be requested for the other grades of 10th, 11th and 12th.

After the meeting, principals scrambled to make the new Denver schools policy work. Since the lunchtime schedule dictates the classroom schedules, the new Denver Plan is causing an upheaval in many Denver schools, where they have a common lunchtime for all students and teachers. Small cafeteria capacity means multiple lunchtime schedules must be implemented. For example, Denver schools East High School enrolls 2,092 students with a cafeteria that seats only 258. If only the 750 freshmen are kept on school grounds during lunchtime, at least three lunch periods will be required. This also upsets the activities by possible by a common lunch period, such as club meetings, students meeting with classroom teachers, and students socializing with their friends and siblings who are in different classes.

The Denver schools principals must submit waiver requests for their schools before April of each prior school year, which will be granted based upon the quality of the school's truancy reduction plan. Principals consulted with staff and solicited input from students and the community before deciding for which grades to request waivers. To support their waiver requests, they included student data, such as attendance. Additionally, it is unclear whether Denver schools with current good attendance rates will receive special treatment; however, the plan has a 97 percent attendance rate goal for all schools.

Though Denver schools principals received the new policy with mixed reviews, the students vehemently oppose it. Hundreds of students attended a student forum on the topic and completed an online survey. It was the hottest topic at the end of the Denver schools 2005-2006 school year. Even the middle school children were hotly debating the subject, since the policy will affect them in the near future. Students are in total agreement that the Denver schools would be better served by targeting their anti-truancy efforts at the students with actual attendance problems. The students see the new policy as a punishment for all students. <bio>Patricia Hawke is a staff writer for Schools K-12, providing free, in-depth reports on all U.S. public and private K-12 schools.
How can you build a relationship with people who object to registering for your event based on your credibility? Here are a few suggestions on improving the way your prospects view your event.

The Power of Credibility

When your event is either completely new to the market or you are trying to reach out to a new audience, establishing up front credibility with your audience is important. Even if your event is well-established, re-enforcement of its credibility will help boost your attendance.

Establish Who You Are

Create credibility by establishing a unique identity such as an "Institute" or "Center" along with a description of your mission. For example, the "Center for Personal Finance" or "The National Institute of (fill in the blank)."

Use any industry or high-profile connections you may have to establish and promote an advisory board. Use "big name" speakers or co-chairs along with their photos on all of your promotional materials. Familiar names, recognizable faces, and official-sounding entities will go a long way to helping your attendees associate your event with greater credibility.

You're in Good Company

Find yourself a reputable sponsor or co-sponsor and then shamelessly promote your partnership. If you have not yet established a reputation, "borrowing" someone else's can give you a tremendous attendance boost. You're smiling to yourself, but it's true! Think about what happens when Martha Stewart, or Warren Buffett endorses a product, service or company -- people recognize those names and associate them credibility (in certain industries, anyway).

Prominently promoting individuals and/or companies that have participated in past events can also launch instant credibility.

Do you have notable speakers?

Jack Welch Donald Trump Martha Stewart President of an industry leading company

Or sponsors you can promote?

Cadillac MetLife An industry leading company

More importantly...are you doing everything you can to promote them? <bio>Bill Flagg is the President of RegOnline Putting smiles on the faces of over 9,200 event-planning professionals worldwide because it is the easiest-to-use online event and conference registration system available.
Designing the registration form for your event or trade show can be quite a difficult task. It is important not to overload your potential attendees with information, but you must also provide enough pertinent information so that the prospect feels comfortable registering.

So what is the secret to designing a registration form that produces big attendance?

Your first task is to cover the basics that every registration form needs to cover. Here are the basic elements of any registration form:

* Your logo * Date andamp; title of the event * Location of the event * The cost of registration * The agenda for the event * An indication of how long the registration process will take (for paper forms, this would be a pagination number like 'Page 1 of 5', for online forms it is a completion timeline)

It can be difficult to include all of this on a paper registration form (a great reason to go paperless!) but it should definitely be included within the registration materials packet.

Once you have the basics covered, there are several extra items you can add to a registration form. Each one of the following helps provide your potential attendee with extra motivation to register. Try these out for your next event:

* Add a money-back guarantee * For online forms: add indicators of security like a Hackersafe logo, and a privacy policy * Also for online forms: add an 'Invite a Friend' link * Provide reasons the registrant should attend, or a andquot; What you will learn/gain...andquot; section * Photos from previous events * Names of famous speakers or guests who will be attending/speaking * As many ways as you can provide for registrants to get in touch with you when they have questions

The addition of these items will greatly increase the likelihood that your potential attendees will register right away.

An online form is light-years ahead of paper registration, but it's not useful if you need to contact your IT department every time you need a headcount. An online system can have your event up and running in minutes and be able to create, view and send reports whenever and where you want. <bio>http://RegOnline.com is devoted to making event planners' lives easier.
