If you do not want to spend a lot of money, but still enjoy art, you may want to consider what art reproductions have to offer. The nice thing about art reproductions is that they look just like the originals, but they will not cost you nearly as much money. But with that being said, not all art reproductions are the same. For this reason, you need to know the common mistakes that some buyers make time and time again.

1. Buying some items online is a good idea, but when it comes to art reproductions this does not always hold true. If you are going to buy online make sure that you have the chance to see the entire image in full size. Buying based on a small thumbnail is never a good idea. The website owner or artist should be able to email you a large file that will allow you to see the art reproduction in full. If they cannot you are better off buying your art reproduction elsewhere.

2. Do not buy an art reproduction just because it is for sale. Remember, they are not all the same. There are some companies and individuals that are much more reputable than others. You will want to find a company that is experienced in creating art reproductions, and can also back this claim up with testimonials from other buyers. If you are going to spend money on an art reproduction, you want to make sure that you get your moneys worth.

3. There are some people who buy art reproductions just because the original was produced by a famous artist. While there is nothing wrong with this, it is not something that you should do without reason. For instance, if you are using art reproductions to decorate your home it does not matter if the artist is famous or not.

These are three mistakes that you will want to avoid when buying art reproductions. Although there are many others to be aware of, these are the ones that the majority of buyers make when they are new to this industry.

Keep in mind that just because you can make mistakes does not mean that you should stay away from buying art reproductions. Instead of staying away you should actually begin your search for what is right for you. There may be some mistakes that could harm you, but the benefits of buying art reproductions outweigh them by quite a bit.

All in all, reproductions are perfect for art lovers who are looking for great pieces of work that do not cost nearly as much as the original. If this sounds like you, seek out one of the many art reproductions that are for sale. <bio>Sally Hart is an avid collector of http://www.overstockart.com.
Birds have been one of the greatest subject for photographers for centuries now because they have an inspiring beauty and mystify us with their gift of flight and diversity. When it comes to photographing birds and their behavior, catching it on film will add a tremendous visual impact and feeling to any picture. There are different locations where birds gather, but really the best place you may what to start is your backyard. The thing about birds is that they are busy little bodies and a bird feeder in the backyard is a great place to get a picture when they are feeding or even the bird in the air getting ready to pounce one of the birds that is currently feeding.

When you venture out of your backyard to look for birds to photograph your vehicle may just become your newest piece of equipment. Birds see our cars less of a threat then a person carrying a long lens underneath their arm. A vehicle makes for a great blind and along with this patience is a virtue. When you find a location such as a prime feeding ground, park a bit of a ways from it and stop your engine to cut down on noise that may scare them.

Standard,wide-angle and short zoom lenses can be used for photographing birds, but for serious bird photography, a quality 500 mm or 600 mm telephoto lens is ideal.

Please keep in mind to avoid any situation that can put stress on the birds and their surroundings. If you notice a bird that is starting to show any kind of stress, this means that there is a nest or chicks near by. Any further picture taking should be disengaged and you should leave the immediate area. As a photographer of birds or any wildlife, it is a good thing to remember not to put ourselves or the birds around us in any kind of danger. <bio>Albreht Moy has fine art reproductions on his site: http://www.postersprintsphotos.com/buy-fine-art-reproductions.htm </bio>

What people look for in antiques and reproductions. How to use antiques and antique reproductions in decorating. What makes an antique valuable. in different people's views.

There are a lot of differing opinions as to what makes a good antique. Some believe that slight imperfections or something missing due to use are just authenticators and should never be repaired; others believe that the antique has to be complete and perfect for their consideration; still others, who consider themselves true connoisseurs insist that an antique be signed, just as any other work of art would be. These last clearly have the means to support this expensive point of view.

The real way to collect antiques is to be constantly alert to the kinds of antiques that are out there. If you were shopping for a race horse, a pedigreed dog, or a certain car, you would always keep your eyes and ears open for the right one for you. As for antiques, perhaps you would be just as happy with one of the quality reproductions that are made in the major cities of the world. People buy these all the time, and there are very many beautiful and sought after furniture and accessory reproductions. Real antique collectors, however, can spot a reproduction from a mile away. For the afficianado, reproductions do not have the ageless quality that an antique displays.

All of the parts of a true antique fit a perfect whole and the finish gains a certain patina with age. A fine antique is almost andquot;good in its skinandquot;, as a confident person may be said to be. If your pocketbook does not allow you to indulge in good antiques, you would probably be better off investing in lower cost but good quality modern furniture. In that way, the inexpensive rugs and materials you will have to buy will go better with your more modest furniture. This is a good beginning, because as you get older and your tastes mature and your bank account grows, you can then begin to collect one fine item at a time, all the while enjoying the pieces you were able to afford at the beginning. There are many very fine antique collections that started out just blending in with the furniture at hand until, at some point, after more and more pieces were accumulated, there is a cohesive whole to the collection.

As you become more and more financially successful, even the less expensive antiques can be replaced by rarer and finer items until the perfect antique collection has been amassed. This is a much wiser system than trying to build a collection that may be of dubious value (even if you pay a lot for it) if you do not have the experience and wisdom to make the right choices. Whether a piece of good furniture is from the antique or modern era is irrelevant if the piece is a cherished part of one's life. Antiques and other works of art can be bought, inherited and passed down. You want to be sure to be able to pass down fine works of art and pieces of furniture, so make sure that you choose items that are beautiful in their own right, whatever the period they represent. You don't want the antiques you pass down to end up in the back of a closet or dusty on a shelf because the item was never chosen with care in the first place. <bio>Andrew Caxton is the consultant of http://www.home-decorating-reviews.com .
As well as hand painted fine art reproductions on canvas, there are several different mechanical methods of fine art reproduction -- none however come close to accurately replicating the color and texture as hand painting does.

Aquaprint: Is a printing process which uses color separation. The colors can be bright but the texture of the finished reproduction art is flat and does not mimic the artist's brushstrokes.

Artagraph: The artagraph is a special printing method which recreates not only the color of the original, but also the surface texture. This is achieved by taking a silicone mould of the original oil painting and using it in the fine art reproduction. The problem is that not many museum curators or collectors are willing to have their prized masterpieces smothered in silicone, therefore the range of artagraph fine art reproductions is very limited.

Canvas transfer: Canvas transfer art reproductions are basically prints on canvas rather than paper and remain flat, unable to recreate the texture of the artists brushstrokes. First, a lithograph on paper is coated with acrylic emulsion, then when the acrylic is dry, the print is covered with a solution that helps to separate the image from the paper it was printed on. The image is now bonded to the acrylic and free of paper. This film is then carefully bonded to the canvas. Canvas transfer art reproduction's flat texture can be enhanced by the artist adding some brushstrokes. Canvas transfer reproduction art is subject to color fading, yellowing being a particular problem.

Etchings: The art reproduction image is etched into a copper plate, ink is then applied to the plate. Dampened paper is then laid onto the plate and under extremely high pressure from an etching press, ink is forced onto the paper. This is a popular method of art reproduction for drawings but is not suitable for reproduction art oil paintings

Giclees: Are produced from a color transparency made from the original oil painting usually by taking a photo or using a drum scanner. Today many giclee art reproductions are made with ink jet printers attached to computers and consequently they suffer from inconsistent color reproduction. They are expensive while remaining flat and untextured reproduction art.

Hand painted: This method of fine art reproduction involves a trained artist carefully copying the original oil painting. The artist mimics the exact colors, texture and brushstrokes of the original masterpiece to produce a fine art reproduction that is a stunning replica of the original oil painting.

Lithograph: Basically this is standard offset printing. The art reproduction image is drawn on a litho - limestone or exposed to a light sensitive litho plate. The printing surface is kept wet with a sponge; the ink is then rolled by hand onto the plate or stone. This is a popular art reproduction method for posters but falls to recreate the brushstrokes and texture of oil paintings

Serigraphy: Also known as screen prints. Serigraph art reproductions are produced by creating a stencil on the fabric that is stretched across a frame for each color by a master printer. They can have a thin texture but cannot mimic the heavy texture of oil painting. <bio>Candice Christie is a well respected art expert employed by modern art reproduction specialists http://www.GalerieDada.com </bio>

The Victorian style does not really have to be a costly affair although it gives that impression. A clever combination of antiques and reproductions may well be achievable within a tight budget.

You need to be careful of how you decorate your walls. Apart from this, the color of the rooms makes a big difference. Dark colours are preferred over subtle ones and this is where the Victorian-style stands out. You can use the same approach for your accessories as well.

Some people use wallpapers and borders to differentiate that approach. Your choice doesnand#8217;t have to be very jazzy, and you donand#8217;t have to spend a lot of money to achieve this look. Each one has a choice in the Victorian decorating style allows you to just that.

After this, take a good look at the flooring. You donand#8217;t have to purchase new flooring; simply cover the existing one using rugs that match the Victorian design. If you can get genuine antique rugs, you have more or less achieved the Victorian look already. If it does not suit your budget then you can go for look-alikes as well. In either case, be careful that it does not spoil if the overall look of the room. Also ensure that the colour of the flooring matches the paintings on your walls and also the furniture.

Next, you need to concentrate on adding the accessories. A few changes can make your room look great, provided you know which components would really do this trick for you. Artwork, paintings, antiques, etc will help you provide that victorian look. Once this is done, you can always add vintage fabrics and vases filled with flowers to add to the theme.

While choosing the light fixtures, focus on style and type that matches the Victorian decorating style. Old fashioned ceiling lights are the best. The silk fringe shades of these lamps will give you the required look. However, this can be costly. Donand#8217;t worry. You can always find cheap alternatives. And while you are shopping, look for table lamps and wall sconces. These contribute significantly to the overall look.

When it comes to antiques, you do not really need genuine ones. You can always consider reproductions as these allow you to change the theme frequently without burning a hole in your pocket. Another reason is the comfort factor. The Victorian sofas are usually uncomfortable to sit. Reproductions can be worked upon to make them comfortable.

If antiques is your interest area then you should look out for side tables and curio cabinets. Reproductions of these can be avoided and genuine antiques can be used instead. These look great. Be careful to always buy goods that are in good condition. You donand#8217;t want you house to look ugly with broken furniture.

When it comes to window dressing consider velvet curtains. Draped curtains can also be tried. These are available with choice different fabrics. This apart, there are a variety of window treatments to choose from. Go for the best look and feel. Just be careful that you avoid the contemporary style while choosing the Victorian style. They do not go very well together.

You can also achieve fantastic results by decorating the wall space with paintings and other art pieces that cite the Victorian style. Overall, you need to see that the end result is a soothing feel arising out of a blend of the various pieces put together. The feel should be unique and your visitors should take notice of your efforts. After all, isnand#8217;t that the ultimate aim? <bio>Adam Peters is the editor of http://www.home-decorating-reviews.com .
A close relative had to spend a couple of days in the hospital. Upon entering his hospital room to visit, I was surprised and delighted to find several striking pieces of artwork hanging on the walls.

This sparked my curiosity! I spent a great deal of time looking at the curative affects of art. I've discovered and learned that in order to help create a healthier environment for patients, hospitals work hard to make certain that patients rooms and waiting rooms are inviting. This helps to ensure their overall stay is peaceful. To help boost a patient's morale, works of art are hung in their surroundings thus creating a warm home-like environment.

The simple act of hanging beautiful oil paintings on the wall may make a huge difference in a patient's overall disposition. In addition, analysis of hospital statistics has confirmed that visual art and wall decor can reduce the use of pain-killing medicine throughout the hospital floor.

Art has always been associated with a positive effect on both health and wellbeing. Art can help fade levels of anxiety and depression in patients during the wait prior to surgery. Studies have shown that oil paintings and art have a beneficial impact on patients. For a small cost, hospitals can decorate their walls with oil paintings and bring some piece and quiet to their world.

Traditionally, oil paintings have been utilized in healthcare settings in 2 ways =96

1. As decorative pieces to improve the environment 2. As therapeutic devices, especially for people with mental health problems

With that said, wall d=E9cor and great art reproductions in particular have been playing an increased role in people's general wellbeing and day-to-day health.

As I walked passed the Monet reproductions on the wall, I wondered what affect these masterpieces can have on a person's vigor=85 There are a slew of different ways in which art and health can go together:

The way art makes you feel, dares you to dream and gives you the will to get better, back on your feet and see the bright future leading a healthy life.

It appears the benefits of art are just starting to be understood. Our lives can benefit from art on every level. So get inspired and get better. Let art lead you on the road to recovery! <bio>Amitai Sasson, an art d=E9cor connoisseur, holds a Masters Degree in Computer Science.
Movie posters have been around since the time when films were first made however at that time nobody had any idea that the posters that were advertising the films would be worth a lot of money. The original plan was to sell projectors and film prints as a home movie entertainment system. The general public did not know what film was arriving at the local theatre and this was a way of doing it.

The vintage posters that first used the concept of poster advertisements for films turned out to be wildly successful and set the stage for the way business would be conducted for the next 100 years. A vintage poster is not any poster advertising a film but the actual poster used at the cinemas. These vintage posters that are sent to the cinemas by the film companies are the ones that are worth the money and sort after by the collectors and are considered a prized possession.

Of the classic film vintage posters, among the most prized vintage posters that collectors desire include King Kong, Frankenstein, Casablanca, and Gone with the Wind. These films' posters are in high demand because these vintage posters are the posters of four of the most famous, most successful and most influential films of all time. Classic vintage poster of the last few years include such films as Star Wars, Batman, Spiderman and ET.

All of these films have vintage posters that collectors prize with a passion. When offered up for auction, they can fetch prices that are quite high drawing several thousands of dollars in bids. When purchased they are usually properly stored away or, at minimum, placed in an expensive and durable frame.

While most of us can not afford these vintage posters in their original form, they all look kind of cool in reproductions. Avid film fans will probably keep the reproductions of these films in circulation for years and collectors of vintage posters will also keep the auction prices very high. If you get the chance in years to come, go to your local cinema and ask them if you can have or buy the posters as one day, you never know the poster you have been given, may just become a vintage poster in years to come. <bio>http://www.passionateaboutposters.com has everything you need to know about posters and every poster to buy that you can think of. </bio>

In this modern era of mass marketing, we are bombarded by electronic messages. After awhile, advertising and promotions all start to sound, feel and look the same. There was a time when the perfect combination of artistry, imagination and originality could be found in vintage metal and tin signs. Many of todays most recognizable brand names got their start as metal signs.

Products too numerous to mention have been promoted with a style and wit that today seems all too nostalgic. Vintage tin and metal signs were produced by the hundreds of thousands from the mid eighteen hundreds through the advent of television in the late nineteen forties. Most were painted or screen printed using enamel paint and many were given a porcelain overcoat to increase their durability. The irony of all this is that many vintage metal signs outlived the very companies and products they were meant to promote.

This is not say that metal signs have completely disappeared from the landscape. Highways signs, street signs and metal signs of kinds are still with us, though most serve a more utilitarian purpose. The golden age of vintage metal signs has been maintained through reproductions and the zeal of collectors to preserve a piece of advertising and artistic history.

Aging metal and tin signs that have begun to rust should never be refinished. Vintage metal signs that are in good condition are highly prized by collectors. A little rust may devalue the sign just a bit, but the nostalgic value is priceless. When buying any type of antique or collectible signs, the well informed collector must be able to know the difference between vintage metal signs and reproductions. The rule is always buyer beware.

Reproductions of famous metal signs can be found almost everywhere. Even though they are not true antiques, quality reproductions of metal and tin signs are a great way to accent the decorating theme of your home or business.

Many companies would provide merchants with durable metal and tin signs in order to promote their products. Among the most popular collectible signs are those that have anything to do with Coca Cola. Coke was able to create their brand by extensive promotion. From big cities to rural farming communities, merchants who offered Coke products for sale may have had several metal signs advertising that fact.

Manufacturers of tractors and other farm equipment produced metal signs that were often fixtures at general stores, Grange halls and feed stores all over the country. Companies such as John Deere, International Harvester and Ford produced many styles of metal signs. These farm equipment signs are favorites among collectors of items that reflect classic Americana.

The great outdoors and the sporting life are amply represented by a number of famous brand names. Metal signs from Winchester, Remington and other gun producers helped to create these now famous brand names. Much of the illustrative artwork used for this genre was produced by some of the best known artists and illustrators of the day. The combination of beauty nature illustrations and catchy slogans make metal depicting the growing market in sporting goods.

No discussion of vintage metal and tin signs is complete without looking at the automobile industry. The famous slogan used by the Packard Company, ask the man who owns one, was made popular in prints ads and was emblazoned on a variety of metal signs. Other early car manufacturers such as Studebaker, Desoto, Dodge and Ford produced metal signs that are clearly classics.

Whether advertising or just for decoration, metal and tin signs have a long history and provide us with a glimpse of the past. <bio>Mike O'Brien is a staff writer for the internet shopping site http://www.finewebstores.com.
How to create the Tuscan style of decorating in your kitchen by using accessories and colors in imaginative ways.

The newest rage in decorating schemes is actually an old idea. Many people are now decorating their kitchens in the old Italian styles, such as from Tuscany and Umbria. The earthy colors used in this type of decorating are becoming very popular and when mixed with some of the interesting reproductions of old world art and architectural features they really create a striking room. Here are some great ideas for giving your kitchen the look of the Italian countryside.

Colors

The landscape in the Tuscan countryside contains such colors as golds in the old walls and buildings, deep greens of the poplar trees and the bright colors of the pottery the region is famous for. For a genuine look, you don't have to invest a lot; just buy one or two accent pieces of Majolica pottery and imitate the colors in this pottery in the rest of your kitchen. You will find that stones of slate or terracotta make perfect choices for flooring or counters, and will pick up the Tuscan colors of your pottery.

Lighting

The lighting in this style is subdued and soft, and newer modern light fixtures would not work. One of the most popular style to recreate the ambiance you want is to choose light fixtures of wrought iron. You may want some brighter lighting in the work area, but a recessed light that does not interfere with the style would be a better idea than something in chrome or stainless steel.

Accessories

You can find a lot of accessories in this style today, since it has become such a popular style. But it is more fun and interesting, and you will have a more unique look if you shop around in antique stores for items that would complement the style and you could picture in an Italian kitchen. Pottery or ceramic bowls, water pitchers and vases can be of real Majolica pottery, or look like it. If you are replacing your dinnerware to go with the kitchen, a set of Majolica ware is a striking way to carry the look all the way through. Some other genuine touches that imitate the Italian kitchen is ropes of garlic hanging by a window, borders with grape vine designs, and a lot of greenery, preferable herbs and small plants in decorative pots.

Using these ideas, you can quickly create a charming kitchen that is warm and cozy and looks like the kitchens we admire in Italy. The rustic colors you desire can be created either by buying new accessories that are reproductions of Tuscan style, or you can scour the antique shops and find pieces that complement this style. <bio>Adam Peters use to write on decoration and similar subjects for http://www.home-decorating-reviews.com .
You're not in college anymore, and it's time to take down the posters and replace them with original art. But, you don't have the money yet for oils or watercolors. Art prints are an affordable alternative, yet they too can be pricey. How can you tell if that art print that's caught your eye is more than just another pretty face?

Art prints are works of art in and of themselves, and may be handmade by artist-printmakers (artists' prints), digitally printed (giclée), or photomechanical reproductions (offset lithographs).

Artists' prints are handmade and are not reproductions of paintings: the print is a unique work of art. The term covers a range of printmaking techniques such as etching, woodcut, engraving, screenprint and linocut. Editions tend to be less than 200, partly because the materials used to make the prints wear out. This type of print is sometimes called an "original print."

Limited edition reproductions are multiples copies of the same image, but produced in guaranteed limited numbers. This makes the image more exclusive. The market price can rise over time, if demand outstrips supply. Edition sizes vary but are limited by market forces, not by the physical constraints of the printmaking method. Most limited editions are signed and numbered in pencil by the artist with a commitment that no other reproduction of the image will be made.

An open-edition reproduction print can be produced in any quantity and the image may also be used in other ways, such as on tableware. Open editions tend to cost less than limited editions and are much less likely to increase in value.

Giclée prints are made using digital printing technology, usually inkjet. The technology enables users to produce small runs of prints. It also allows retailers to offer 'print on demand' services, where buyers select an image and it is printed out there and then.

Several factors influence the price of art prints:

Artist and Rarity Certainly the name of the artist is a major contributor to value. But the art prints of even the same artist may have widely ranging prices. This added value is due to rarity. The more valuable print may be part of a limited edition run of only a few copies, while the more affordable from a larger open-edition run. But they are both original pieces of art by the same artist. It's a good idea to be well acquainted with the works of a particular artist and his or her peers as well. Research into an artist's place in the art world will help you ensure you're getting a good value.

Editions, Signatures and Seals Before the twentieth century artists did not routinely number nor sign their prints by hand. A signature can come from the plate but is not much of a value. What counts is an individual signature of the artist on the print, usually with a pencil (ink would eventually fade). Modern art prints are often numbered by the artist himself, i.e., "34 / 100" (number 34 out of an edition of 100).

Condition It's not unusual for older art prints to have some flaws. If there aren't any, check again! It might be a reproduction. While minor flaws such as slight soiling are considered normal, depending on age, other defects, such as trimming into the image or heavily faded colors, can reduce the value of a print considerably.

Quality of Impression Prints taken early from a plate or woodblock are more precise and detailed in lines than later impressions. Depending on the technique, a block/plate is worn out after a certain amount of impressions. Hardly more than 2,000 impressions could be taken from a woodblock without a rather visible deterioration of quality. Look to the numbering (i.e., 15 / 450) to determine what place in the run the print had.

Size Larger prints tend to cost more than smaller ones. This rule of thumb is less valid for older prints than for modern ones.

Provenance Provenance, or the item's ownership history, can influence value. Prints from a famous collection will usually yield a premium.

Subject Although a matter of opinion and personal taste, the subject of a print has a great influence on value. You'll pay more for cute animals, pretty women, nice landscapes, interesting portraits. Commercially non-appealing subjects are ugly, gloomy, or war-related, no matter how classically significant the work is. After all, it's being bought to put on the wall. People will pay more if they like the image.

In the end, it's your own opinion of the value of the print that matters the most. You'll be happiest with an art print that you personally like. Although art prints can sometimes be a good investment, the best way to get the most for your money is to enjoy it every day as it graces your home. The value of that? Priceless. <bio>Ed Augustine is president of http://www.Gallerydirectart.com.
Are you on the trail of antique grandfather clocks? You might have come across items with proud provenances. However, these will burn your pockets. The next best thing is to make your own grandfather clocks as a hobby or as an entrepreneur. You can make them in the tradition of the old masters in the clockmaking industry.

The Early Clockmakers

The early clockmakers of America did not make a good living out of the trade because most of the clocks were imported from Holland and England. To survive, they also provided services as gunsmiths and locksmiths. Also not all households had tall clocks in their homes because these were expensive, so they preferred smaller, but cheaper clocks. The war also affected the economy and few people could afford what are now considered antique grandfather clocks.

The long clocks, as the grandfather clocks were called then, became popular when a young Quaker arrived in America and founded a lucrative clockmaking trade. From thereon, the long stately clocks became permanent fixtures in several homes. The clocks would later earn the name grandfather clocks after the composition of the 1876 song "My Grandfather's Clock" by Henry C. Work. By this time, grandfather clocks were worth their weight in gold.

Tools of the Trade

Making replica antique grandfather clocks is an interesting hobby and can be a lucrative business once you've mastered the intricate technical aspects of clockmaking. There are several DIY books available in bookstores and online bookshops to help jumpstart your hobby. Knowledge of the background of clockmaking and an acquaintance with the history of long case clocks are useful before you start out your hobby or business.

Unless you already have the deftness of hand in carpentry, making those replica antique grandfather clocks will be difficult. As a tyro, you have to start from ground zero and work on simple models before attempting intricate designs. Start with the basic tools to set up your hobby: power tools, routers and accessories, clamps and hand tools, and wood burning tools.

A workbench and a separate working area is a basic requirement for your hobby or fledgling business. You can hasten things up by hiring experienced workers. If your interest is purely a hobby, expect some time before you can make your own replica of the grandfather clock.

Models For Reproductions

For your antique grandfather clocks, look up the different models of prestigious clockmakers - Howard Miller, Ridgeway, and Henstchel. Here are some popular reproductions from these clockmakers:

The Adams from Howard Miller is a long clock crafted along the tradition of fine artisanship, excellent quality, and design. The carved rossetes and split finial or decorative crown at the top is made of ash burl. The dial of The Adams is adorned with Arabic numerals and a well-designed moon phase detailed with the famed Presidential Collection hemispheres. The pendulum is made from brass and is outfitted with a center disk to match the dial and the weight shells. The mechanisms include nighttime shut off and a cable-driven three chime movement.

The Salem by Ridgeway has a swan neck split pediment, features a chain-driven movement that sounds the Westminster chimes, and a sound shut-off system for your convenience.

Henstchel Orleans showcases nickel roman dial, pendulum, and shells. It also features a beveled glass door and a flagship triple chime that comes with an auto night shut-off feature.

These reproductions of grandfather clocks are stunning pieces any home or office would be proud to display. So if you're going into the hobby or the business, how about getting one item for your own pleasure. This way you can get the feel and spirit of the antique grandfather clocks. <bio>You can count on the quality of antique grandfather clocks (http://www.grandfatherclockmarket.com/Traditional-Grandfather-Clocks.html) and modern grandfather clocks (http://www.grandfatherclockmarket.com) at http://www.GrandfatherClockMarket.com, so get your Ridgeway Grandfather Clock (http://www.grandfatherclockmarket.com/Richardson_I_Grandfather_Clock_by_Ri= dgeway.html) today. </bio>

It may come as a surprise when looking for shutter hinges that there are a huge variety of styles and functions available. After all, surely they are just a standard piece of ironmongery used to attach the shutter to the frame? The importance of choosing the right hinge should not be overlooked when adding shutters as part of your home improvement project.

Although, shutters are largely used to create a particular look in modern homes, they have played a much more functional role in homes of the past. They were necessary for keeping the house dry and safe during bad weather, and for protecting expensive glass from smashing in high winds. In some parts of the world, where strong storms and hurricanes are common, shutters still need to be strong enough to perform these functions. These shutters are closed from inside the house and are fastened with a strong latch.

Shutter hinges were traditionally made from cast iron, a very strong and durable material, able to sustain even the roughest storm. When trying to recreate authentic shutters, reproductions of these ostentatious cast iron hinges are available, usually in more modern metals.

There are number of traditional styles of hinge to choose from, most commonly the strap style and the mortise hinge. The strap incorporates a slim bar style bracket, wider at the base near the panel edge, and coming to a point towards the center of the shutter face. These hinges can include decorative touches such as a spade shaped end to add a touch of character to your design. The mortise hinge was also made from cast iron and resembled the letter N where it joined the panel to the wall.

These reproductions can add beautiful and authentic detail to your home decoration, but if you prefer to have your hinges hidden and solely functional, more subtle modern designs are available that will not detract from the design of your shutter panel. These sleeker designs are particularly suitable for modern minimalist homes.

To achieve a compromise, you may consider a nickel or brass hinge that does have decorative elements but is not as ornate as a cumbersome cast iron hinge. This can still give a modern effect whilst adding a little extra detail to your shutter face.

Modern shutters provide a stylish alternative to window blinds or curtains. The various materials available include wood, vinyl or metal, each with its own particular advantages and styles. All of these can be enhanced by ensuring you choose the appropriate hinge, in terms of size, material, level of detail and strength. Selecting the right hinge can be crucial to the overall effect of your shutters and this piece of window hardware should not be economized on. <bio>Kenneth Morris very often makes informative papers on information relating to window hardware and home improvement.
Because genuine designer handbags are priced will beyond the means of millions of women who would nonetheless be thrilled to own one, many handbag manufacturers are now offering designer replica handbags, which are remarkably good reproductions at affordable prices. There are several important components involved in this style of decorating. Always choose items that are antique or well-made reproductions of the original period items.

The Victorian style of decorating involves a combination of antique accessories and modern technology in order to make your home extremely appealing. It doesn't matter if you live in an old family estate or a modern new house, you can use the Victorian style of decorating by making some small changes such as painting the walls and hanging some accessories from the period in order to incorporate some style from the Victorian era into your home.

Components of Victorian Decorating

One of the major components of the Victorian style of decorating includes wall coverings and accessories. This styles focuses primarily on the color scheme such as reds, dark hues, and any accessories that have vintage appeal. Depending upon the style, you may also add a variety of color to the wall or in your chosen accessories. Choose wallpaper that falls within the antique class, then border sets along your walls; for a different idea, use paint combined with stenciling. There is no need to be too elaborate or spend an excessive amount of money. If you don't like anything too colorful, use a neutral color on the walls and allow the accents to decorate the room.

Your flooring can help or hinder your Indian Victorian d=E9cor, but in the event there isn't a way to replace your flooring, use Victorian design area rugs. An excellent choice in rugs to use with this d=E9cor is the Oriental ones, and it's possible to purchase genuine rugs or if you have budget constraints, reproductions at a much lower cost.

Accessories are essential to your home's Victorian d=E9cor style. Direct your efforts toward purchasing some vintage photographs, works of art, and clocks for the mantle that coordinate with your d=E9cor. You'll also need antiques and period curios. In addition, period fabrics in addition to vases to which you have added flowers will add a special something that provides your house with the look of professionalism.

Light fixtures and Furniture

Your light fixtures need to be correctly styled and of the right type to match your Victorian d=E9cor. Some of the possibilities are old-fashioned lights for the ceiling and lamps that have silk fringe shades, but you want to avoid anything that looks primal or country. You also want to include both table lamps and wall sconces.

Your furniture needs to be in a Victorian style, but there is no need to buy antiques. When it comes to your sofa, you may want to look at buying a reproduction because sofas from the Victorian era are not comfortable at all. On the other hand, you should purchase end tables and knick-knack cabinets from an antique dealer because he modern pieces lack the beauty of the pieces from the Victorian era.

Windows and Walls

An excellent look for your living room or family room is that of layered draperies, curtains of velvet , or curtains of different fabrics that are heavily draped. Fortunately, there are many different treatments for your windows that pair exquisitely with this theme, especially if you match both your fabrics and your window treatments. You must be careful, however, to avoid any modern window coverings.

Finally, don't overlook your walls when decorating. Great wall d=E9cor can make the worst looking walls look fabulous. Simply adding some vintage paintings along with old photographs will provide add an interesting aura to your walls and give it some real charm. <bio>Andrew Caxton contributes editing long articles on style for http://www.home-decorating-reviews.com .
There are many different ways that you can decorate the walls of your home. If you are a homeowner, you may have already looked into some of the available options. But of course, there is no reason that you should ever leave well enough alone. A simple change to the decorations on your walls could go a long way in making your entire home much more appealing. The only question is, "how are you going to make this change?"

One of the most overlooked options is adding oil paintings to your walls. This is something that a lot of people have never considered, but all in all, it is definitely an option that will brighten up your home. The main reason that most people do not look into adding oil paintings is that they have no idea on where to start. Although this is a viable reason for passing these by, it is not something that should stop you in your tracks. Instead, you should learn a lot about oil paintings so that you have the knowledge necessary to buy the ones that will look right in your home.

First off, you need to consider what your room already looks like. In other words, you cannot simply buy an oil painting and think that it is going to look right. You need to consider the current d=E9cor of your room. For instance, what color are the walls? What about the carpeting and furniture? You will want your oil paintings to match everything else that is in your room. If you do not do this, you will not be completely satisfied with the way that your oil paintings look.

Although oil paintings are a great way to color your wall, you need to consider other details at the same time. Although size usually does not matter, it is something that you need to take a closer look at. In many cases, a large oil painting will overpower the rest of your room. If this is the sort of look you are going for, there is nothing wrong with this. But of course, your best bet would be to find the perfect sized oil painting. The best way to do this is by measuring your walls, and then choosing the size that is going to fit proportionately.

A high quality oil painting is a great way to bring color to any room. For many homeowners, hanging oil paintings in every room is the way to go. Of course, you may only want to do this in well trafficked areas such as the living room; the choice is yours.

Before you decide to go another route, consider what a colorful oil painting can do for your home. <bio>Sally Hart is an avid collector of oil paintings. She spends ample time online browsing stores to find the best deals on top line http://www.overstockart.com art reproductions </bio>

There is no doubt that Tiffany lighting is as popular, if not more popular, than it was when it was first introduced at the turn of the 19th century. New productions of Tiffany lighting and replicas of some of Tiffany's original works by well-known manufacturers of Tiffany lamps, including Meyda and Dale Tiffany, continue to be some of the most highly sought after products associated with home lighting.

If you are a bit unfamiliar with the term Tiffany lighting and the history of its appearance in the American marketplace, perhaps a brief lesson in history is in order before we highlight the two premier Tiffany manufacturers of today.

Although Tiffany lighting first became popular at the turn of the century when most homes began to be equipped with electricity, its history begins much earlier than that with an artist named Louis Comfort Tiffany. Before the turn of the century his work graced many American homes and public buildings in the form of paintings, tapestries, tiles, stained glass windows, wall paper, vases and lamps.

But it was only after he invented a way to process glass into opalescent and beautifully crafted objects used for home decoration that he experienced phenomenal success. It is this process of producing iridescent glass known as "Favrile" that Tiffany is most remembered for. He produced decorative objects such as trays, jewel boxes, clocks, desk sets, lampshades and candlesticks which were very popular gift items. But after the advent of electricity, Tiffany's lamp department took center stage and shone above the rest of his works in terms of popularity. This increase in popularity led Tiffany to produce more items along these lines including ceiling fixtures and hanging lampshades.

Tiffany was a hands-on master at his craft. Tiffany lamps during his time period were either hand crafted by Tiffany himself or crafted by artisans directly under his supervision.

Today, leading manufacturers have used Tiffany's designs and techniques as inspiration to continue the legacy of these beautiful art glass lighting products. Some manufacturers have stood out from the rest, like Dale Tiffany and Meyda Tiffany who are world-famous manufacturers of fine Tiffany reproductions and new Tiffany styled lighting fixtures.

Meyda Tiffany is the name of one of America's leading and oldest manufacturers of decorative lighting and Tiffany lamps in particular. This family-operated business has experienced phenomenal success in the home lighting industry.

Meyda's collection includes ceiling fixtures, novelty lighting, landscape lighting, wall sconces, windows, furniture and fireplace screens. The company's Old Forge crafted steel line features original, natural and wildlife themes, and includes chandeliers, napkin holders, fireplace screens, candleholders, towel racks, bookends, lamps, coat racks and many, many more. And with one of the industry's leading new product development program, new styles and designs are added weekly.

Today, Dale Tiffany stands out from the rest as the foremost designer of fine Tiffany style lighting and home accents. This company delivers the highest quality and an exclusive range of designs.

Using techniques involving hand-rolled art glass, copper foil and assembly methods developed by Tiffany himself, Dale Tiffany features stained glass, reverse-painted glass, Favrile and hand-blown glass works of art which draw their inspiration from great designers such as Frank Lloyd Wright and L.C. Tiffany. While the original reproductions are always popular, Dale Tiffany also offers lighting options that mirror today's styles and trends.

So, if you are looking for unique Tiffany styled lighting to grace your home, do not be fooled by knock-off manufacturers. Only purchase from the best. <bio>Pamela Tice is the owner of numerous lighting and home decor websites including http://www.simplytablelamps.com .
Though some people assume that Cancun is full of nothing but overpriced souvenirs, there are plenty of great values to be found. Some of the best bargains in Cancun =96 for both entertainment and distinctive souvenirs =96 are provided by the vibrant local art community. Art is everywhere you look in Cancun. Wherever you travel in the Hotel Zone or downtown Cancun, you will spot artists selling their work on busy street corners or in outdoor markets. Meanwhile, the galleries of Cancun represent both the best work of the region and internationally-recognized artists. Regardless of your budget, you will be able to find the right piece to add to your collection in Cancun.

One of the most popular places to view the fruits of creative labor is Cancun's folk art museum, known locally as Museo de Arte Popular Mexicano. Located on the second floor of El Embarcadero Marina in Cancun's Hotel Zone, the folk art museum showcases everything from traditional Mexican masks and costumes to religious artifacts and handmade toys. With nearly 15,000 square feet of exhibition space, the museum is able to tell many stories about both the local culture and the history of the Mexican people. Besides all of the artistic objects on display, the onsite gift shop is also a great place to shop for locally made oddities. Furthermore, the folk art museum provides a fun and affordable nighttime activity, remaining open to the public until at least 9 pm each day.

Some of the best places to shop for art in Cancun are the large shopping centers located throughout the Hotel Zone. The best selection of both commercial art galleries and individual vendors is at the sprawling Plaza Kukulcan. Known primarily for its number of upscale clothing and jewelry stores, Plaza Kukulcan is also a bustling art marketplace. In the common areas of the shopping center, local artists are allowed to display their work and sell directly to the public every day. On any given day, you will be able to find artists selling everything from handmade jewelry and crafts to pottery and oil paintings.

Plaza Kukulcan is also the place to find the work of renowned local artist Sergio Bustamante. Represented in Cancun by the Xaman-Ek Galleries, Bustamante's uniquely surrealistic work is collected worldwide. Though he trained as an architect in Mexico, Bustamante has spent years combining his Chinese and Indian influences with the Mexican art tradition. The result is a body of sculpture and ceramics exhibiting a distinctive sense of humor, spiritually guided realism and superior workmanship. With additional locations at Plaza Caracol and La Isla, the Xaman-Ek Galleries also sell all types of locally-made products including jewelry, painting and folk art sculpture.

As you tour the galleries and museums of Cancun, you can also expect to see work inspired by the ancient Mayan culture. As the city is located amongst scores of ancient ruins in the heart of the Mayan Riviera, the imagery of the ancient civilization has always found its way into local museums and galleries. For souvenir hunters and art collectors, some of the most sought after items in Cancun are the expert reproductions of Mayan artwork. One such artist working in this style is painter and Mayan scholar Miguel Castro. Known for his masterful reproductions of Mayan paintings, Castro also uses traditional tools and methods to create his pieces.

Before venturing out in search of galleries and local artwork, check the local guides available at your hotel or resort. Besides offering descriptions of individual galleries and providing directions, many publications detail the most current exhibitions. If you are hoping to find a specific type of artwork at one of the outdoor markets, ask your concierge for suggestions; they often know where the best artists sell their products. <bio>This article was written by Justin Burch.
If you've thought about doing oil paintings, here are some basics to get you started.

The first step in your production of oil paintings is to make sure that the area in which you are going to paint is well ventilated. You need a window or door that can be opened as you work, a good fan and a space that is fairly open so air is able to circulate.

If you are going to work on your oil paintings outside you'll have to be able to secure everything so the wind doesn't end up blowing things all over. Keep in mind that bees, and various other insects will flock to your citrus thinner. The first thing to do is put down your drop cloth, your tarp, your plastic bag and so forth. Secure the edges of each by using masking tape. This will keep it from getting bunched up. You're going to set up your oil paintings work area on the drop cloth so make sure the area is roomy enough for your comfort. If you are going to work on your oil paintings with a table easel set up on a table, you'll want to cover the floor below the table top and the place where you will stand or sit.

Before you start painting your oils, don your paint attire - gloves included. You'll need one container that has paint thinner and one container that holds a combination of two parts paint thinner and one part walnut oil. These containers should be about three inches high and two inches around. Each should be filled to the half way mark. You'll need a comfortable set up with an easy reach for your paint palette and knife, your brushes, the two containers, as well as paint rags and tubes.

Now set up the paints you'll use for your oil paintings. If you have a variety of colors, you don't need all of them squeezed out onto your paint palette. Start with just two or three colors. If your choices are only primary colors, then squeeze out onto your palette a dime size spot of cadmium red, yellow and blue. Space them as far from each other on the palette as possible, as if you are putting dots on the three points of a triangle. In the center of this paint triangle squeeze a nickel-size spot of Titanium white oil paint. Next use your knife to mix these colors.

Now you're ready to really start creating your oil paintings. <bio>http://oilpaintinghq.com All the information you need to know about oil paintings from reproductions to originals. </bio>

It is finally warming up outside. That means it is time to get back out to your garden. Time to plant seeds, bury bulbs and sit back to watch our handiwork sprout. But gardens are not just plants and greenery. Gardens are our own personal outdoor hideaways. And as such, garden furniture and décor have become common fixtures in many yards.

One of the most impressive accessories is the garden fountain. Not only will fountain create a serene and relaxing stream of sound, a fountains appearance will immediatly add style to the area. Who wouldn't want to add a fountain to their outdoor area? Before you buy, be sure to take a few points into consideration.

Fountains are available in a variety of sizes, shapes, and styles. From larger ground based models that can accentuate an entire area of your garden or patio, to smaller table top sizes. You will find fountains to complement any taste, from classic and traditional to contemporary and sleek. Once you decide which style you like, think about where it will be on display.

Do you have a large, free-flowing space, or a small, compact space? Fountains do extremely well in larger areas to act as a central focal point. When looking for a spectacular display, consider fountains with waterfalls or natural looking rock walls. In more intimate areas, consider a more petite fountain, the effective sounds will still transform your garden.

Would you consider yourself contemporary or conventional? You can find fountains in reproductions of ancient European water features or in the most modern lines. Feel free to shop and order your fountains, as most are constructed to look like stone and rock, but are actually a lightweight composite material.

Whichever Fountain you go with, it is sure to transform your garden area and bring years of peaceful sounds. <bio>Gordon Kaye wants you to have the garden of your dreams.
