If you've taken a minute to look around your neighborhood in recent times, you will probably have noticed how much the new homes differ from the older homes. And if you asked yourself why that is, the answer you'll probably find yourself getting is because of changes in technology. That's right, changes in architectural design software is what is making home building a more dynamic, highly flexible business where designers and owners alike are able to conceptualize their designs much more vividly and turn out amazing results.

Architectural design software allows the Architect, owner, designer and builder much more room to be flexible and innovative when it comes to creating spaces. This is because of some of the finest digital software and tools that are available in the market takes a lot of the old drawing board-blueprint-scale model techniques out of the architectural business.

But the introduction of architectural design software has changed the industry tremendously. For instance, the capabilities of the architects have been enhanced to such an extent that they not only are they able to conceptualize complex designs, but they are also able to translate those designs into workable models that can further be altered without having to revert to the literal drawing board. Time, money and effort is saved in this way so that an architectural project that would have otherwise taken years to reach completion would take significantly less time thanks to the state of the art architectural design software.

While in previous times some architects working on multi billion dollar projects would utilize software applications like AutoCAD to draft their designs, increasing capabilities in various technology like design software and multimedia is making software like AutoCAD increasingly outdated.

In the same way, clients have also come to appreciate greater quality and more value for money so it is no wonder why over the years many people demand better architectural design software to cater to their needs.

Perhaps one of the best things about all these kinds of architectural design software is that they are all scalable which is a striking contrast to previous years where there were a number of issues with legacy systems since it was usually the case that one architect favored a particular kind of architectural design software while another working on the same or similar project favored another so that issues regarding interoperability of the various software frequently popped up. However these issues have been laid to rest with the latest most evolved versions so that problems like scalability is no longer a problem since it is inbuilt and ensures that such interoperability issues don't arise.

The result is plain to see, all you have to do is take a look around. Safer and better architectural constructions are all around thanks to the features of the architectural design software. You maybe thinking of your next architectural project and if this is the case you'll definitely want to check out the latest trends of architectural software making the rounds! <bio>One Final Tip: Get many ideas before starting any project so do visit http://www.allaboutthehome.info a site offering resources on issues like why use a remodeling contractor, plus so much more. </bio>

While each architectural design firm has their own unique approach to their work, it is important to find a home architect that has architectural services that fit your needs. You need to be clear on your needs and goals when you are searching for the right architectural design company for your project. This way, you'll be sure to get the architectural services that you need. Some of the main questions you need to answer when looking for a residential architect include: do you need more space? What activities will go on in the new space? What is your budget for the project and how will it be financed? Will you be doing some of the work yourself? Once you have your questions answered and you know what you need and want, you can begin the process of choosing the right architectural services for your project.

Building Your List of Architecture Firms That Do Modern Design

Now you need to start building your list of architecture firms that can do the project you need. You can start by looking at the architectural design firms in your area that specialize in modern design. If you are seeking a residential architect (rather than building an office), search specifically for residential architects. Contact your local chamber of commerce for recommendations, speak to friends and relatives, or contact the American Institute of Architects. Any of these areas are great ways to find good architectural services for your project.

Custom Homes Architects or Residential Architects?

All custom homes architects are residential architetects, but not all residential architects are custom homes architects. Some residential architects design homes for developments where none of the homes are custom -- they are all the same.

Custom home architects design one home at a time. They create a completely custom-made design -- one that is unique and has never been created before. They spend the time to get to know their clients, and their clients' desires, wishes, dreams, styles, tastes, likes and dislikes. The custom home architect wants to create a perfect fit for the client. The client's new custom home will become a true reflection of the client.

Once you have a list of potential architecture firms that you want to interview, start at the top of your list and start interviewing. You should be able to tell right away if the chemistry is right between you and the architectural design firm that you are interviewing. This means that they should be able to answer all of your questions about modern home design, such as: luxury home plans, green design, minimalist architecture, and even postmodern architecture. If they cannot answer your questions to a degree that makes you feel comfortable with their architectural services, then they are not the architecture firm for you.

In this process, you will meet a custom home architect with whom you will "click" - a person whom you can trust. He or she will not only design the home of your dreams in seamless fashion, but this is a person with whom you will enjoy working with, as you undertake this exciting and fulfilling journey -- the custom design of your unique dwelling!<bio>This informational article is provided to you by one of the most highly-regarded architecture firms in Asheville, NC: Carlton Architecture.
Architectural glass is glass used as a structural element, as opposed to merely decorative or inserted in hole in the wall for the sole purpose of providing light and a way to see out. Thus architectural glass doors are doors wherein the glass is an integral structural element of the door.

There are many options when choosing glass for your architectural glass doors, although it may be wise to choose from safety glass types, which include toughened, reinforced and laminated glasses.

Crown glass is the earliest style of glass window. It consisted of hot blown glass forced onto a round, flat sheet and cut to size. It was a very expensive mode of manufacture and could not be used to make large panes.

It is not ideal for architectural glass applications, as it is not particularly strong compared to newer glass technologies. Also, it is expensive.

It is still used for restoring old buildings, however, as it has a unique look that cannot be obtained through any other process.

Glass blocks or glass bricks are often used as architectural glass in building walls and partitions, but aren't ideal for doors as they tend to be very thick and very heavy. They could be used for doors, but this application is rare.

To make rolled plate glass, large ladlefuls of molten glass are thrown on the cast iron bed of a rolling table, and rolled like dough. It is then trimmed roughly while hot and soft.

Figure rolled glass results when the plate is cast between two rollers, one of which carries a pattern. The resulting pattern will appear in high relief.

It is usually whiter than clear glasses and can be laminated or toughened to produce a safety glass suitable for architectural glass doors. This may be an option if you want to combine strength with decorative properties, and a whiter, more opaque color for the sake of privacy.

90 percent of the world's flat glass is float glass. Molten glass is poured onto one end of a molten tin bath. The glass floats on the tin, and levels out as it spreads along the bath. The result is that the glass will be smooth on both sides.

The glass cools slowly and solidifies as it travels over the molten tin. A very small amount of tin becomes embedded on the side facing the tin, and this side is easier to make into a mirror.

Molten glass floating on tin will normally spread out to a thickness of about 6mm. It is made thinner by stretching it as it cools, and thicker by squashing it as it cools.

Laminated glass is a safety glass that holds together when shattered. It is held in place by a layer wedged between layers of glass that prevents the glass from breaking into large, sharp dangerous pieces.

It is often used in architectural applications. As an added bonus, it insulates better aginast sound and blocks 99 percent of ultraviolet light. When choosing glass for architectural glass doors, there are many viable options, but strongly consider laminated glass for its safety features.<bio>Specialty doors offers interior doors, architectural glass doors and interior glass doors for homes, lofts, condos, or apartments.</bio>

Architectural outdoor lighting illuminates structure and details of building design and materials. It focuses on highlighting materials, architectural style, decorative elements, and beautification of functional building elements. Architectural outdoor lighting will greatly enhance and accentuate the practical and aesthetic elements of any building or house.

With advanced knowledge of architecture and other disciplines parallel to lighting design, consultants bring an in-depth knowledge of outdoor architectural lighting design to the table. Every project begins with a thorough building analysis, in-depth client consultation, and detailed planning. Architectural outdoor lighting consultants look first at how the building functions and what practical functionality proves critical to activity around that building. They then calculate precise photometrics to determine the exact level of light required to illuminate the building. Prior to requisitioning any equipment to complete the project, architectural outdoor lighting specialists sit down with the owners and discuss both the plans and the photometric requirements of the proposal. As well as we know different industries, we realize that each business within an industry is unique, and our final meeting prior to electrical installation ensures we have accommodated all particulars relevant to a specific home or building owner in terms of lifestyle, ceremony, service offerings, and business operations.

Outdoor architectural lighting themes can contain safety and security elements that make buildings not only more attractive, but also more well-protected and safer to employs working on location at night. A well-lit building deters nefarious activity much more effectively than an unlit building on a dark street. The presence of light alone conveys a psychological deterrent to mischief. Furthermore, specific elements of architectural outdoor lighting also add additional safety to homes and buildings by lighting surrounding properties. Step lights prevent cleaning personnel from tripping over dark stairwells, and path lights pinpoint the locations of walkways and provide a well-lit path with minimal hazard. Not every building or home has consistent night traffic, but almost all have visitors or night crews that clean the building. Architectural outdoor lighting equipment both reduces liability for businesses and brings additional comfort and a sense of accommodation to residential guests.

For large homes and commercial applications such as hospitals, storefronts, and multi-story office buildings, we can create an effect called a "facade" of light that transforms an otherwise plain, homogeneous surface into a luminescent surface whose light and color convey an aesthetic of its own. We use special fixtures to create a "wrap around" illumination effect where the light literally seems to wrap itself around a ledge, corner, or building fixture. Having already determined luminosity with previous photometrics, we can achieve this effect without spill light, white spots, or obtrusive shadows. The key is positioning the right equipment in a low profile position where optimal angles create the illusion of light radiating from the surface of the building. We call this "soft illumination" and find it especially enhances the structural beauty of churches, art galleries, and historical buildings with superior architecture. Custom homeowners also prefer this form of architectural outdoor lighting because it discreetly and politely distinguishes their homes from surrounding houses with a styled termed by Architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, "Less is more."

Regardless of the style or age of any house or building, architectural outdoor lighting is a must for the eclectically minded home or building owner.<bio>illuminationslighting.com.
What makes this Hungarian capital an endlessly diverse adventure is the fact that in 1873, two towns (yes, Buda and Pest) on opposite sides of the Danube River united to become known as the Queen of the Danube and one of the largest cities in the European Union today. Brace yourself for the most unique experience in Eastern (or all) Europe as Hungary is an outpost of cultural and linguistic distinction that stands abruptly apart from its Slavic and Germanic neighbors. The Magyar stronghold of Budapest, established around 900 AD by the formidable clan from Central Asia, became the center of the Kingdom of Hungary capable of withstanding the carelessly blundering Ottomans, Habsburgs and Nazis. Discover the grandeur of one of the oldest and most established cities in Eastern Europe!

Take a Bath with the Queen

A great place to start your Hungarian journey is on the Western Bank of the river in Óbuda, the very oldest part of Budapest. Two thousand years of human life surround the excavated Roman city of Aquincum where Europe's largest open-air amphitheater remains. Main Square is beyond charming with taverns and quaint single story houses and shops. From Óbuda to neighboring Buda, the hilly landscape is sprinkled with ancient Roman and Turkish Baths, fed by some of the 100 thermal springs that run through the area. The Art-Nouveau Gellért Baths in Buda are the most famous to relax in, although the Rudas and Rac baths, build by the Turks 400 years ago, are more interesting and less crowded. All three are located on top of scenic Gellért Hill inside the Citadel, an old military fortification from the 1800s. The pinnacle of Buda is the eponymous Castle Hill where the 14th century Baroque Royal Palace presides imperially over the city.

Grandeur in the City

Cross the historic Széchenyi Chain Bridge, the oldest of nine, and enter Pest, the more compact and metropolitan eastern side of the Danube. A walk along the regal Andrássy Boulevard past stunning mansions will lead to the Hungarian State Opera House, a true gem of acoustic and neo-Renaissance architectural prowess in all of Europe. While in the center of town, visit the noteworthy Inner City Parish Church, which happens to be the first church built in the city. On a grander scale, the enchanting Jewish quarter is home to the largest synagogue in Europe, the Dohány Street Synagogue, complete with an extensive Judaic art collection and Holocaust Memorial. Another monumental must-see is Budapest's neo-Gothic Parliament building, Europe's largest and arguably most beautiful. Take a peek at King Stephen's legendary crown jewels that have been stolen and moved in and out of the country a near comical number of times.

Budapest is truly a traveler's city. The enormous size offers experiences on every level, from simply local, musical or explorative to historic, artistic or commercial. Budapest is particularly noteworthy for its exceptional array of museums and galleries that litter the city, particularly the Hungary National Museum on Castle Hill, the Museum of Fine Arts, and the Antique Picture Gallery, with the most extensive Spanish collection outside of Spain. <bio>For more information, visit http://www.cfares.com.. </bio>

Very few of us actually get to live out our dream careers.

In metropolitan areas where style meets form and function in the world of architecture, Level 3 Architects earn--on average--more than $60,000 a year! Making a living that nearly doubles that of most Americans... for doing something you love? Why not?!

If becoming an architect is your passion, here are a few tips to get you on the way to becoming the professional you want to be:

Do your research. Learn everything you can about various careers in architecture to narrow your focus and see where you fit in. You can learn more by writing to the Director of Careers in Architecture Programs at The American Institute of Architects, 1735 New York Ave. NW, Washington, DC, 20006.

Practice. Set up a professional drafting table at your home and spend time using it. In case you're not pulling that 60K a year yet, we found a top of the line, adjustable drafting table for only $499 at versatables.com. You can choose the color to match your existing décor, and the company ships for free (unlike most that will charge well over $100 for shipping), making that table an even better deal.

Read up. Invest in getting a few subscriptions to good architectural trade magazines like: Architect, Architectural Record, and Architectural Digest. You'll be inspired every month when you open the mailbox and see the current issue. And you'll stay on top of what's happening in the industry.

Take Classes. There are 105 schools accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB). Enroll at one of them. Don't turn your nose up at the idea of taking supplemental classes at a local community college though. These classes can give you the practice you need under a guided expert, without putting you in a financial slump.

Save Money. You'll need to work as an intern-architect for very little money for almost three years before taking your ARE (the exam you need to be a licensed architect--the real deal), so get on a budget that will allow you to do this and still maintain a standard of living that doesn't include eating Ramen noodles and boxed rice every night for dinner.

There's nothing keeping you from achieving everything you want for yourself. But be smart about it. Anything worth getting takes time, discipline, and dedication. But someday, when you look out the window of a building you designed, my guess is that it will all be worth it. <bio>http://www.versatables.com/pages/draftingtablesmain.php </bio>

Located on the sprawling banks of the river Yamuna, Delhi, the capital of India, represents an intriguing blend of a myriad of ancient and the modern civilizations, reflected not only in its diverse cultural heritage and historical monuments but also in the present social structure and lifestyles. The city chronicles the history of the various civilizations and dynasties that flourished here for over 3000 years. Their legacy survives in the many ancient monuments left behind by their rulers, each a chronicle of the glory of its times and a reflection of the prevailing cultures. The remains of seven distinctive capital cities can be seen here.

Here is a pick of the top five tourist attractions in Delhi:

Qutub Minar

A mammoth minaret (238 feet tall) built from the remains of 27 Hindu and Jain temples during the years 1193--1369, commemorating the victory of Qutab-ud-din over the city's last Hindu kingdom, Qutub Minar is one of Delhi's oldest monuments. Decorated with calligraphy representing verses from the Koran, it tapers from a 50-feet diameter at the base to just 8 feet at the top. The first three floors are built with red sandstone, and the upper two with white marble.

In the same complex stands a mysterious Iron Pillar, bearing fourth-century Sanskrit inscriptions from the period of King Chandragupta II, that has intrigued scientists to no end because it has withstood centuries of climatic upheavals and remained rust-free till today. A popular legend says that if you can encircle it with your arms while standing with your back touching it, any wish will be fulfilled.

Red Fort

Popularly known as Lal Quila and built by Shah Jahan during the years1618--1647, Red Fort, with its massive sandstone walls and exquisite architecture, is the ultimate reminder of the sheer wealth, splendor and power of the Mughal Empire. There are many must-see places within the fort, resplendent with intricate decoration, with separate rooms and balconies for the womenfolk, swimming pools, and natural air conditioning. It also houses an Archaeological Museum.

Jantar Mantar

Built in 1724 by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, this esoteric, awe-inspiring salmon-colored stone-and-brick structure is an observatory used by the king for measuring time and calculating the positions of the stars and planets, and for prediction of eclipses. It houses multiple buildings with unique architectural combinations of geometrical forms, each meant for a specialized purpose of astronomical measurement.

Purana Qila (Old Fort)

Believed to have been built on the ruins of the ancient original city of Delhi (Indraprastha, founded in 3rd or 4th century B.C.), by the Afghan ruler Sher Shah during the years 1538--1545, the Old Fort with its massive walls and three imposing gateways gives a fair idea of its lost grandeur. It houses a small octagonal red sandstone tower, used by King Humayun as a library, the Qila-i-Kuhran Mosque, and a small archaeological museum.

India Gate

Built in sandstone, India Gate is a war memorial to commemorate the sacrifice of Indian soldiers during World War I. The sheer grandeur of the architecture of the neighboring Parliament House and Rashtrapati Bhawan must not be missed, either.

So, start planning your trip! <bio>Find Budget Hotels in Delhi at http://www.budget-hotels.biz/ </bio>

If you own a company you may not know that you already have the best advertising space right in front of your very eyes.

Your own building.

You can put an architectural wrap on your windows. This is most commonly known as a winwrap.

It is one of the first things your customers will see when they walk up to your door. This makes it such an appealing advertising form. What better way to advertise your company than on your own window.

Most winwraps are see-through from the inside but from the standpoint of someone who is walking up to your building, they will see a bright, colorful graphic that that is full of excitement. Another perk to having a winwrap is that you do not need to take out any special permits to have one installed your window.

There is no need to worry about damage to your windows because the picture is installed over your windows. If at any point you need to take it down because you might be moving to a bigger building,

it is just as easy and safe to take off.

Inside your building you might want to take advantage of wallwraps. Wallwraps are printed artistic pieces that wrap around and stick to your walls.

Most of the time the picture is put together almost like pieces of a puzzle and the best part is there is no paint at all on your walls.

The adhesives that are used on the wallwraps are completely safe for your walls and will leave no damage at all. Wallwraps could almost be considered a high class interior decorating.

Wall graphics can be as interesting as you want it to be and it will not cost you an arm and a leg. You see wall wraps all the time in airports and in New York City.

The decoration and flair that they add to your buildings is unbelievable. Not only will it impress any potential clients, but you are also boosting employee morale. Imagine how much for comforting it is to be working in a building that has bright eye catching displays rather than the drab walls you see so often in other buildings.

The benefit of investing in winwraps and wallwraps are unbelievable. The look and feel they give to your building is really priceless.

There are many companies who specialized in wraps and you want to make sure you research your companies and meet with representatives of each company.

Make sure they are willing to work together with you to capture what your vision is. You want a company that is going to consider you and them a team.

A good architectural design company will map out your creations the best they can and tweak it to get your point across.

Essentially you have the final input on what the creation is.

There are so many benefits to investing in wallwraps and winwraps for your business.

Benefits for you, your clients, and your employees will reap in the end. <bio>Visit http://SignZoo.com's Custom Graphics Signs section at http://www.signzoo.com/building-wraps/architectural-wraps/custom-graphics-s= igns.html for more info on winwraps and where to find an installer. </bio>

What is architecture? What do we mean by Post-Modernism? Does Postmodernism still exist in architectural design? As Jameson suggests, "Postmodernism, by definition resists definition". If then postmodernism is difficult to be defined, on what principles can we judge if postmodernism in architecture is over?

Charles Jencks, among many architectural theorists, attempted to explain how postmodernism has shaped 21st Century's architectural creations. The words, syntax, metaphor, and semantics of architecture are part of what make architecture postmodern. Regionalism, historicism, new urbanism, these are flavors of the postmodern. Whereas Moore, Hedjuk, Yamashita, Tigerman, and Graves (to mention a few) are categorized as postmodern, in which group do contemporary architects like Santiago Calatrava belong?

Satiago Calatrava, Valencia's favorite son, a man who has merged architecture and engineering into designs and has occasionally transcended the limitations of both, uses an advanced postmodern vocabulary. But, are his manifestations considered postmodern, or something else? Graceful bridges, train stations, museums are mainly characterized by a white structure and the use of glass. Structures that often appear in motion and, as of late, often actually move.

The term "postmodernism" was first used in reference to architecture as early as 1947 spurring a fruitful debate among architects that has not yet disappeared. Postmodernism in its regional/vernacular forms reflects neighborhood culture. In this way, it can function as a tool in class struggle. Jameson argued that postmodernism is a reaction to the forces of "creative destruction." But it can be a tool for those powers as well. "Creative destruction," the wiping out of physical memory of a place is what probably causes the phenomenon Jameson refers to as the "accelerated rate of change". The end of the assembly line, created by the instant flexibility of computer technology, means that in this post-Fordist world we can all have a unique, neighborhood specific thing, as well as having the same thing.

All of these arguments are original and all of them can be successfully applied for the analysis of different contemporary cultural phenomena; some of these theories are better for the explanations of particular architectural phenomena, some for others. However, it would be wise for one to examine them all together in all their different perspectives as they can become a helpful tool for understanding the social and cultural phenomena that emerged from the second half of the Twentieth century on and still affect contemporary architects and their designs. <bio>Jonathon Hardcastle writes articles for http://loveofthearts.com/ - In addition, Jonathon also writes articles for http://foracloserfamily.com/ and http://letsdosomeyardwork.com/ </bio>

My father was always at work out back in his little workshop, and he taught me how to fix and build all manner of household projects so I figured, why should drawing and building ranch house designs be any different.

I've wanted to design my own ranch house for years, but was hindered by a lack of architectural knowledge. I've been pretty handy since I was little.

I've never been one to let common sense stand in my way. I thought that ranch house designs would be easier than other houses, because they only take up one story, and so don't require as much structural support.

I knew the ins and outs of wiring and plumbing, and knew a little bit about post and beam construction, so I figured what the heck, and gut an architectural CAD program to start working out some ranch house designs.

Well, as they say, live and learn. Just learning the program enough to come up with my ranch house designs was practically nightmarish. Architectural CAD programs are used by professional house designers, and ease of use is not the number one consideration which goes into designing them. Whether you're designing a ranch house, or just laying out your bathroom, there is much more that goes in to layout than you might imagine.

And then there are safety regulations which you must keep in mind. Legal ranch house designs don't just incorporate floor plan and roof. You have to learn all about designing and building a foundation, and that is another set of skills altogether.

Then there are fire safety codes, legal load limits, basement design to insure water-tightness. By the time I had come up with a few finished ranch house designs, two years had passed.

I picked my favorite ranch house design, enlisted the weekend aid of a few friends, and got to work. It was like the whole project was doomed.

I picked had picked the most ambitious of the ranch house designs, a house plan far beyond my ability. Because it wasn't a simple rectangular floor plan, but instead incorporated an internal courtyard, it was hideously difficult to precisely excavate and lay out the basement.

And once this was done, there was an unseen problem -- the courtyard entrance was so small, that I couldn't get heavy equipment needed for house construction through the door. I'm happy to be designing and building my own ranch house, but I'm glad I'll only have to do it once. <bio>Learn all about ranch house designs here. http://ranchhousedesigns.info/ </bio>

What is architecture? What do we mean by Post-Modernism? Does <a href="http://www.artwoo.com/tag/postmodernism" rel="tag">Postmodernism still exist in architectural design? As Jameson suggests, andquot;Postmodernism, by definition resists definitionandquot;.

The term andquot;postmodernismandquot; was first used in reference to architecture as early as 1947 spurring a fruitful debate among architects that has not yet disappeared. Postmodernism in its regional/vernacular forms reflects neighborhood culture. In this way, it can function as a tool in class struggle. Jameson argued that postmodernism is a reaction to the forces of andquot;creative destruction.andquot; But it can be a tool for those powers as well. andquot;Creative destruction, andquot; the wiping out of physical memory of a place is what probably causes the phenomenon Jameson refers to as the andquot;accelerated rate of changeandquot;.

In today's marketplace, general contractors, electricians and property managers are routinely engaged in competitive bidding on commercial construction and architectural lighting projects. Working with a commercial lighting distributor who specializes in architectural lighting and who represents multiple manufacturers, gives the commercial designer more freedom to bid specific items without fear of limited options, restriction to only one or two manufacturers, or equipment that fails to meet all necessary safety and light pollution regulatory codes.

Architecture lighting specialists will help you carefully balance the major considerations of safety, security, aesthetics, and regulatory code compliance by helping you precisely match fixtures to exact client specifications, and by accessorizing your system to remain as maintenance free and energy efficient as possible. Extensive planning and consultation with a specialist can be obtained at a small, reasonable fee if your team requires assistance with advance planning or ongoing consultation in developing the specifics of your proposal.

Architectural Area Lighting

Architectural area lights are heavily regulated due to their high lumens output and must illuminate only the intended area(s) without generating light pollution that will create a hazard or a nuisance to a nearby business or residence. It is generally advisable that you plan a proposed architectural area lighting system with specific guidance in the following general areas:

1. Parking lot lighting must meet local foot-candle minimums, minimize glare for motorists, and avoid shining lights into adjacent facilities. Working with a source that can accommodate the Spartan preferences of strictly industrial sites and the more decorative needs of municipalities, corporate headquarters, and hospitality clients can go a long way toward impressive line items that can tip a bidding war in your favor.

2. Parking garage lights must be configured in such a way as to balance vertical foot-candle intensity with horizontal foot candle intensity. This often requires working with a specialist who can input the dimensions of your garage into special software to help you determine which lamps, wattage outputs, and light fixture locations are required to achieve optimal, safe lighting levels in your garage.

3. Outdoor building lights must accent architecture without overpowering it. Different buildings may require anything from wall mounted architectural lights, canopy lights, and wall packs in a wide range of size, voltage, wattage, and color options.

4. Security lights of some sort should always be installed whenever architectural patterns vary or diverge and shadows form under eaves, canopies, walkways, or connecting structures can serve as a hiding place for criminal mischief.

Oftentimes, contractors are hired by offices, churches, municipal buildings, institutions, hotels, restaurants, resorts, and country clubs that require a highly customizes architectural lighting system that will speak to all the many considerations that contractors must factor into developing a truly effective outdoor lighting presentation. These clients often have tight budgets both for equipment and for power requirements, so it is necessary as well to have a wide range of line and low voltage options ready to offer the client at the line item level to make the invoice legally compliant with dark sky and foot candle regulations, practical safety and security concerns, decorative needs, and cost effectiveness through reduced power requirements and minimal long-term benefits.

In these situations, both pre-packaged kits and highly specialized architectural lighting equipment can often tip the balance in favor of a truly comprehensive architectural lighting design that goes beyond the basic cornerstone elements of standard configurations.

Sign and Building Edifice Lighting

Sign lighting can set the tone for the entire site's lighting system and help your clients more effectively brand their facility. Larger buildings that feature the company brand or logo painted on the building wall itself can be lit with specialty edifice lighting fixtures that will highlight colors and lettering without creating light pollution for surrounding areas. Flagpole lights can be installed very cost effectively to showcase a client's patriotism and keynote an important element of the landscape in general.

Architectural Landscape Lights

Architectural landscape lighting delivers a more robust illumination to larger campuses with a great deal of area between the property line and primary structure(s). Certain landscape features such as waterworks, decorative sculptures, outdoor break facilities, and recreational areas can be highlighted in such a way as to compliment the architecture of the main building.

Some commercial lighting vendors, such as Easy Rack in Houston, Texas, furnish architectural landscape lighting kits and specialized landscape and building exterior lighting fixtures appropriate for more high-end projects such as resort hotels, five star restaurants, country clubs, and outdoor recreational facilities.<bio>Easyrack.org.
Architectural area lights feature an aesthetic component that differentiates them from the purely functional fixtures used in typical site lighting. Although the lamps used in both architectural area lighting and site lighting are often similar--if not identical-- light sources, architectural area lights are made with a noticeably higher level of decorative design and ornamentation. As such, purchasing costs can be rather high, and this can deter municipalities, academic institutions, and even small corporations from making an investment that would otherwise serve their outdoor lighting needs on a number of levels ranging from public appeal to commercial branding. When commercial site developers, architects, and contractors encounter this type of resistance, they can turn to RLLD Commercial Lighting for adjunct lighting design support that will enable them to propose cost-effective, energy saving light sourcing that offers both tangible benefits and ROI on multiple levels.

Contractors frequently encounter office buildings, churches, museums, civic centers, municipal headquarters, universities, restaurants, resorts, and country clubs that require a highly customized, often very sophisticated architectural area lighting system that will contribute certain key elements to their property, building architecture, and public image. The fixtures and lamps that will ultimately be used to build these systems must completely accommodate the multiple demands of dark sky laws, increasingly strict LPW efficiency codes, minimum foot candle requirements, and bring the client measurable ROI through reduced power requirements and minimized ongoing maintenance.

If you are a commercial developer or sole proprietor working as a DIY electrical contractor, you can quickly and accurately accommodate these many demands in an expeditious manner is to work with a vendor like RLLD Commercial Lighting that offers complimentary, adjunct design services with a systematic approach. Before we suggest any specific lamps or fixtures, we first want to learn more specifics from you regarding your client's site. When we understand architectural area lighting to actually be a combination of four separate elements-- parking lot lighting, parking garage lighting, building architectural lighting, and security lighting-- the right questions to ask become readily apparent. Does your client have a parking lot, a parking garage, or both? What is the total number of buildings located on the property? Are there public park areas, open landscapes, recreational areas, or walkways that require special lighting? How many people work or visit the facility at night? What is the total acreage of the property if it is located on a considerably large piece of land? How much light will the entire system output, what it will cost, and what will be the expected return on investment for your client?

The data gathered from this dialogue is now inputted into sophisticated lighting design software that enables us to calculate on a point by point level the exact photometric requirements needed to determine which specific fixtures will best provide building accent light, perimeter and walkway security, glare free, well-lit parking areas, and aesthetic, shadow-free landscape, and an energy savings package that offers a measurable ROI by means of energy and maintenance cost savings. By eliminating the guesswork from architectural area lighting, RLLD Commercial Lighting helps contractors first determine exactly what lighting levels and power requirements are optimal to propose, and second, which actual products will most effectively and affordably offer clients lasting solutions that are affordable, reliable, and aesthetically superior. By giving smaller design firms and individual lighting design consultants access to software normally affordable only to larger firms, RLLD Commercial Lighting also helps level the lighting design playing field, arming small companies and consultants with competitive advantages that can rival even the largest firms in photometric accuracy, specification grade quality, and multiple benefits at the line item level.

RLLD Commercial Lighting maintains a full selection of architectural area lighting fixtures, lamping options, commercial lighting poles, and mounting accessories that allow the contractor to offer more options to the client at the line item level. As a representative of a number of reputable, domestic, and established manufacturers, we can offer any commercial developer, architect, or lighting designer impeccable lead time on products made here in the United States and drop shipped anywhere in the country to expedite time to market delivery of products and services.<bio>rlldesign.com.
An extranet is a private network within which document sharing can take place by specific groups of users outside the organization through a network administrator. An organization may allow authorized customers and partner's access to the system after verifying the usernames and passwords.

The extranet: Enhanced document sharing and collaboration

Architectural firms have increasingly been using extranet to send and receive documents in a secure environment. All the relevant information about a particular project can be made available to all the individuals who are part of the project, be it the clients or other partners in the venture. Construction companies can access the CAD drawings and plans immediately, without much waiting. It also enhances the relationship with the clients who can receive the relevant documents and send their approvals accordingly.

Outsourcing Extranet Services

Some firms have not shown interest in implementation of the extranet because of the complexity involved and the high cost of installation and maintenance. It requires purchase of equipment, the necessary hardware and software for its implementation and training to maintain the system. However, there are hosting companies to whom the implementation and maintenance of the extranet can be outsourced. These hosting companies, also called application service providers (ASPs) not only provide the technical support, they also provide all the security measures required to keep the data secure. An architectural firm need not worry about the purchase and installation of any hardware or software installation or setup. The hosting company also provides maintenance and training to the staff. The firm just requires paying a fee to the application service provider for all the services it renders.

Advantages of an extranet

Extranets allows all the team members working on the project, be it the employees, vendors, suppliers or clients to share the design plans, documents and hence collaborate online. This aids in a better customer service and prevents unnecessary lengthening of project schedules. A lot of money is invested in any architectural venture and all the delays lead to substantial amount of money going down the drain. An extranet gives a platform to the workers to perform multi- site collaborations. Since all the data exchanges take place in real time, there are chances of less rework. With the usage of extranets increasing, special software packages have been developed specifically for the architectural firms. They support project management, e-mail management, accounting and scheduling. An extranet not only enhances the process of decision-making but also improves the relationship among clients and partners. <bio>Laura Schweiker writes extensively on the use of technology by businesspeople and is an evangelist for document sharing (http://www.trichys.com/document-sharing/document-sharing.vm) and extranet (http://www.trichys.com/) solutions. </bio>

For lovers of home décor, tapestries are an ideal choice to lighten up a dull corner, to add beauty and grandeur to a room or simply bring forth a piece of history into their living rooms. For the latter option medieval tapestries are the perfect choice. Medieval tapestries are those, which have replications of medieval artistry and a piece of history attached to them such as these http://www.european-wall-tapestries.com/store/catalog/Medieval_page_1_c_2.html. Such tapestries bring through the canvas a depiction of a scene or an artwork made famous by a medieval artist.

Such tapestries go back to the renaissance and Arts and Crafts times. Medieval tapestries were intricately woven on fine fabrics primarily wool, for hundreds of years by different races and cultures. Egyptians as well as the Incas buried their dead in tapestries. The Greeks covered their walls like those of the Parthenon, with them. But the credit for excelling in this work goes to the French medieval weavers who with their exquisite work gave the tapestry a new dimension.

One of the highlights of medieval tapestry history is their work in the realm of Unicorn tapestries, rightly since the unicorn has always been a source of marvel and beauty, to the world. The medieval artisans in their attempt at capturing this magical creature have presented it in great depths and pictorial excellence apart from giving it a symbolic interpretation.

In the medieval ages tapestries were symbols of high art as well as items for practical use. Tapestries provided privacy for beds, insulation for castle walls and aesthetically closing awnings. Royalty made it a point to travel with their family tapestry place to place for their comfort as well as a show of prestige. Tapestries due to their richness of texture have always been associated with royalty; they epitomize the luxury and grandeur in their picture and luxurious feel too.

European and medieval tapestries come in different sizes, shapes and colors, and a host of European weavers have shaped the design trend, color scheme and subject matter so that the piece of work resembles that of the medieval ages as much as possible. The revival of interest in medieval tapestries, owe much to the endeavors of William Morris head of Arts and Crafts Movement in England. It must be understood that medieval tapestries are for art lovers and collectors with a taste for history, also that they primarily cater to a selective section of people who happen to be not only art lovers but also follow history and take an interest in the different ages that have exposed various art forms. <bio>To view other Medieval tapestries, please visit our home decor website http://www.european-wall-tapestries.com </bio>

Roofing and shingles is a process whereby tiles are laid partially overlapping in an ascending manner up and along rooftops. This is done as much for style as it is for structural and architectural soundness.

Roofing and shingles is a particular occupation that specializes in roof repair and coverings. This job entails making sure that roofs are attractive as well as providing protection from the elements and increment weather. The particular conditions wherein these specialized tradesmen and women perform roofing and shingles are met with certain building and fire codes and architectural standards of the countries, states, cities, or provinces in which the job is done. Further, learning roofing and shingles, like the trade work of electricians and plumbers, requires particular knowledge and skills that must be conducted and completed correctly, otherwise the roofs could pose a hazard to those living in the house. Patching up holes and cracked wood before appropriately covering the roof securely with shingle tiles is one example of this.

Materials used for roofing and shingles vary, but everything used is sturdy and safe architecturally and health-wise. Shingles used to be made of wood, but due to growing fire and structural hazard concerns, this material is rarely or seldom considered; instead, bitumen-soaked paper covered with aggregate (asphalt) or ceramic shingles are now used for their safer and more visually appealing nature.

Roofing and shingles also used standard appending. Shingles are tacked or nailed on securely, but only where the shingle tile meets the roof; shingle tiles are never tacked or nailed at the overlap. Such a procedure would be deemed less secure (as it is more difficult to nail through multiple asphalt shingle tiles), and the appearance looks awkward. For ceramic (and occasionally with the asphalt), a heavy-bonding tar or paste is sometimes used to attach the tiles to the roof. The shingle tiles are laid in a row along the bottom edge of the roof, and each ascending row, as said, overlaps the one beneath it by about half a length of the tile. The top edge of the roof is then capped.

Roofing slates, also call "slate shingles," are also used in roofing and shingles, and are applied the same way. Because of the heavy consistency of slate, it's unlikely that nails or tacks are used; instead, paste or tar seems the better choice for a bonding method.

Roofing and shingles is a meticulous and time-consuming process that must be carefully rendered for a roof to acquire that architectural appeal. Not only should know-how be necessary, but careful movement and stepping are a definite requirement as well. <bio>Find more roofing resources and other great topics at http://www.info-checkpoint.info </bio>
