Careful what you eat, especially if you are allergic to certain antibiotics. Recent studies have shown that some vegetables absorb the antibiotic chemicals from the soil they are grown in. Why? Animal manure.

In our vast food chain, it seems that we have come across the ultimate irony. Humans are now being punished by their own attempts to optimize the animal and plant food industries. Instead of people being superior to animals and plants in the food chain, we're now being "kicked in the pants," so to speak.

Here's the explanation: Animals raised for human consumption are often fed antibiotics in order to make them stronger and larger, making them more marketable animals, according to the Journal of Environmental Quality's report on antibiotic infused crops. In raising these animals, their manure is also collected to be used for soil in raising crops. This manure, used as soil, has now been found to transfer the antibiotics put in the animal feed to the very plants that grow in this soil. In other words, by feeding animals antibiotics to capitalize on the market, we are actual introducing a potential danger in human consumption.

Devastated reactions have come from slow food movements, driving home the point that it is important to know where your food comes from. If you have an allergy to certain antibiotics, it could be very dangerous to consume a potato laced with antibiotics. But, with the way America sells its food in grocery stores, it would be hard to know, wouldn't it? Not only is it hard to figure out which crops have these problems, but it is known that animal manure is very commonly used as soil across the world.

So far, the animal antibiotics have been found in such foods as corn, lettuce, and potatoes. Potatoes have been found to have the highest amounts of these antibiotics because its actual food closely encounters the soil. Actual dangerous effects of this problem have not yet been fully analyzed. In the meantime, it has been advised by study conductors that those with allergies to any sort of antibiotics should be careful.

For more information, visit: Journal of Environmental Quality Slashfood Environment News Service <bio>Hillary Marshak is a writer and editor for http://Recipe4Living.com, an up and coming recipe sharing Website.
To ensure healthy growth of plants, you need to add fertilizers to the soil. This is because the nutrients are lost due to absorption by the plants and through leaching and washing or simply evaporation. But to use fertilizers optimally, you need to know the specific nutrient-need of each vegetable and benefits of each of those nutrients.

Out of the many things that a plant needs for growth, three are available readily in the air and soil. However, the plants also consumes nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium in large quantities. Hence these elements have to be added to soil through fertilizers.

Poultry and animal manure, bone meal, green manure, granite dust, wood ashes, and phosphate rock, all fall under the broad category of organic fertilizers.

1. Manure : The main organic fertilizer is the manure (horse, cow, pig, chicken, rabbit, etc.). Dehydrated, raw, and composted manures are available. Most garden enthusiasts do not like raw manure because of its stench. It also attracts the flies and insects. More over raw manure can contain a lot of weed seeds which have remained undigested. Because of the nitrogen-rich surrounding these seeds germinate fast and give way to weed formation. To manage these weeds is often a laborious and hard task.

Since it hampers germination, fresh raw manure should be kept away from seeds. On the contrary, it should be mingled with the soil, watered frequently before planting the seeds. The only good feature about raw manure is that it is available cheap. Dehydrated and composted manure have to bad smell. The content of nutrition of dehydrated manure is always written on the bag in which it is sold. Before you make the dehydrated manure come in contact with the seeds, you must water it several times. You can however apply composted manure safely anytime.

2. Green manure : To add further nutrients and other organic matter to the soil, usually green manure is ploughed in. It is a kind of a crop that is grown specifically for this purpose. Examples of green manure are alfalfa, clover, red clover, buckwheat, Sudan grass, and oats. The first three are legumes. Roots of these can add valuable nitrogen to the soil, but they a long time to grow.

Crops with green manure are usually planted in summer before fall planting or you may plant them during late fall, before spring planting. Give a three week gap between plowing the green manure crop and planting a crop. You must remember that green manure crops are not suitable for areas which face harsh winter and undergo freezing temperatures.

3. Bone meal : It is nothing but bones of animals which are crushed. This organic fertilizer has poor content of nitrogen and potassium but is rich in phosphorous. For rapid growth of plant roots, bone meal is used as a starter fertilizer, because of its high phosphorous content. One of the benefits of bone meal is that it does not burn the seeds, but its expensive. Bone meal promotes the growth of vegetables and herbs if you add it to potting soil.

4. Granite Dust : This manure does not contain nitrogen and phosphorous but contains 4% potassium. It takes very long, nearly 4 years for granite dust to add nutrients to the plants. 5. Phosphate rock : As the name suggests, it is rich in phosphorous but lacks nitrogen and potassium. It also takes many years for the nutrients from this manure to be added to the soil.

6. Wood ashes : This phosphorous-rich fertilizer is a very good source of potassium. Because they are formed burning wood, most of the nitrogen gets evaporated. Thus it does not contain any nitrogen. Depending on the type of wood, the nutrient content varies. Since they are alkaline in nature, it can be added to reduce the soil acidity. <bio>Jackson Porter is a staff writer at http://homegardenenthusiast.com and is an occasional contributor to several other websites, including http://www.environmental-central.com. </bio>

Many people think that pictures of animals are just for children, but boy are they all mistaken. They might look at cute animal photos when they are small, but as they grow, they assume that, like cuddly stuffed bears, these pictures of animals are best left to childhood. Oh sure, trying to be cute, their boss might leave animal photos up around the office as a pleasant, if boring decoration, but no one ever thinks about these pictures at all. I really do think that this is a great shame. As a professional animal photographer, it should be no surprise that I like animal photos, but the reasons might be things that you have never thought about.

One of the greatest things about animal photos is that they really can capture any emotion that you can think about. People are often reserved about showing what is going on inside them, but reserve is not really anything that shows up too frequently among the members of the animal kingdom. In animal photos, we have the chance to see practically any emotion, from the tenderness of a mother cat caring for her young, to the fierceness of a lion pouncing for the kill, to the sly disdain of a baboon, leaving its friends behind for new fun.

Many people believe that we are not really seeing these expressions in animal photos, and that what we are seeing is just a reflection of our own emotions that we want to pin on animals, but anyone who has spent any time with animals at all knows that this is simply not true. When we look at animal photos, we are looking out at our own emotions, not because we put them there, but because animals are really very strikingly similar to us. Dogs really do feel loyalty and friendliness quite often. You can tell if you have a pet dog what the expressions in dog animal photos really mean. Cats really are quite evil and sneaky, not because their tiny, creepy eyes look that way in animal photos, but because that is their natural temperament. Animals are less intelligent than we are, and are more driven by instinct, but that does not change the fact that they feel real emotions the same as we do. It does not take animal photos to show most of us the truth of this statement, but looking at pictures of animals can help to confirm it again and again. <bio>For more information about animal photos, and other types of photos and photography please check out website at Photography Tips. http://www.allphotographytips.com </bio>

The susceptibility of the food chain to manmade chemicals has been highlighted once again by the Dow AgroSciences calamity over Aminopyralid.

The chemical, a herbicide popular with many farmers, is able to destroy weeds and nettles without destroying the crops or grass around them. However, the Aminopyralid, which is used to in the manufacture of many different Dow AgroSceinces products, has managed to outwit the brains that knew enough about its potential to warn against using it on food crops or on material that will be directly turned into compost.

However, despite these best intentions and precautions, Aminopyralid had slid into the food chain, and it is now being blamed for deformed vegetable crops and vacant plots and allotments up and down the country.

Scientists think that the contaminations originated in grass sprayed with the herbicide a year ago. Whilst materials themselves treated with the herbicide could not be sold as compost, nobody thought to concern themselves about the fact that Aminopyralid-treated silage, the cattle feed used over winter, might result in manure that was itself contaminated. That manure was then sold, to private gardens, to allotments and so on, and is now ruining harvests and -- with those affected being told to not even think about planting in the same soil for at least twelve months -- leaving allotments and vegetable patches forlorn and vacant.

And those twelve months, it is feared, could be just the beginning of a long road toward seeing our allotments and gardens fully Aminopyralid free.

The current suspension on Aminopyralid related products is not yet permanent, but even if it becomes so and farmers do not use the herbicides that they have already purchased then it is estimated that the problem of the contaminated manure will still be around for at least four more years.

The Royal Horticultural Society is conducting soil tests for people worried that they may have inadvertently contaminated their plot by using manure containing the echoes of Aminopyralid. However, a good test that any concerned person can do for free right now is to transplant a tomato plant into a 50% manure 50% compost mixture and then just wait and see for any signs, such as withered leaves and distorted shapes, that has been associated with the herbicide.

There has been a growing trend of people now turning toward growing their own food on allotments. The security of being able to check what, if any, pesticides or herbicides are on our food is often cited as a reason for this. So too s the growing concern over the effect that foods imported over long distances -- often so that produce that is out of its growing season can still be stacked onto supermarket shelves -- is having on the environment. The notion of food miles, and the acceptance of how they fit into expanding or reducing an individuals carbon footprint, means that more and more people find the prospect of growing their vegetables locally extremely appealing. Many councils have had to quarter the size of the allotments that they offer because demand is now so great. Let's hope that the fear over Aminopyralid doesn't affect this eco-friendly trend.<bio>Matt Gammie is a writer for Ecoswitch</bio>

Out of the total consumption of meat in the nation, a quarter of it is provided by hog farming. While another 5 % is obtained from imports from hog farming.

A majority of the hog farms are present in the Midwest, the Corn Belt of the nation. I found this pet related site useful http://www.pleasepetme.com. The farms and the factories that release the various contaminations and odors are at the heart of the controversy. Many people are of the option that the pollution that is produced due to hog farming should not be taken too lightly as the manure that comes from hog farming doesn't go through the sewage treatment plant.

Compared to human sewage manure that is produced by hog farming is 30 times more dangerous in polluting the water on the surface, as well as drinking water. The amount of pathogens is more in the manure that is produced at a quick rate due to hog farming, thus increasing the changes to poison the water.

On the other hand manure that is produces due to hog farming is considered as a great fertilizer by the specialists in the area of agriculture. The fertilizer that is thus obtained gives the soil it's much needed nutrients that is required for healthy crops and therefore is very useful to farmers.

The main problem of hog farming arises because these farms are located in close proximity of human communities and then these communities then get worried about the contamination that may be caused to the wells and rivers which will be used by them.

Besides that odor is also a big concern that the neighboring communities have with hog farming. Some of the people are concerned over the fact that the odor tends to reduce the value of their property.

The profits for the farmer will increase proportionately to the number of hogs on the farm. But at the same time the amount of waste will also increase. Therefore the problems that hog farming causes has caused tough regulations and environmental restrictions to be imposed on them, which in turn has caused a lot of people involved in this industry to leave their country and go.

As Canada, besides Quebec, has called for all those in the hog farming industry to come and start their business there due to the less restrictive regulations, they have seen a lot of people moving there. <bio>Homer Stand often works with: http://www.mmdatahub.com http://www.massreleases.com </bio>

If you're seeing a persistant behavior issue with your horse, and feel stuck, here's something to try.

Send your animal a scene of the outcome you're trying to achieve, instead of focusing on the wrong behavior that keeps being repeated.

In this example, I had received 2 requests this month from riders whose horses were having issues with canter departures.

Animal communication is a heart-based emotional exchange of energy, thoughts, feelings, and images, sometimes in lightning-fast progression.

The art of animal communication is to be able to gently grasp these fleeting messages as they fly by, to acknowledge them, and to keep the conversation flowing.

Following communications with each animal, I was able to nail down the reason for the problem, and give recommendations as to how to work through the problem. Both times, I had also mentioned that the owner should send her horse a picture of how she wanted the departure to be attained, realizing that the horse would get this and more easily grasp what was being asked.

Once we know how your animal sees the state of affairs, you'll know better how to individualize your routine or the way in which you are training, to be better in tune with what your animal needs in order to move forward.

We can all get into the trap of visualizing undesired results in a situation like this. We unconciously prepare ourselves to fear and expect the worst, and then look here! The worst happens. By utterly imagining the outcome you are trying to achieve, and then giving that distinct image to your animal, you'll advance your instruction and both of you will be able to move on quicker.

This is a type of animal communication which maureen practices, and there is much information available about this process on her website, at http://www.animaltranslations.com. <bio>Maureen harmonay is an animal communicator in new england.
Some people say that, like any device for animal training, a shock collar should be used in moderation and should strive to be both effective and humane. Shock collars used for dogs really do the job but some people believe that their excessive use borders on animal cruelty. Many activists are opposed to its use because of this.

The Association of Pet Behavior Counselors has a statement opposing the widespread application of the shock collar for most dogs. They don't go so far as recommending the banning of the product entirely, but feel the use of the product needs to be done in a controlled fashion. When used moderately during the training process, the shock collar can generate great results without being cruel to the dog. Excessive use should be avoided.

The primary purpose of shock collars is to deter negative behavior a dog or other animal is doing. They are primarily used during the training of the animal and are not often needed afterward. The device works by delivering a small electric shock to the animal's neck in order to shape the behavior of the animal during the training process. Behaviorist Psychology is behind this particular approach to training.

Unfortunately, the Association of Pet Behavior Counselors believe that owners can unintentionally misuse the shock collar and harm their animal during the process. Because the owner himself isn't well trained in using the collar, he can cause great pain or discomfort in his pet. Using the shock collar can also be a source of considerable distress in the animal -- even when the owner thinks he is using it properly.

In a nutshell, it's just too easy to use a shock collar excessively and use it during times in which it is inappropriate to use such a device. The animal will associate the shock with whatever it was doing when the shock was delivered and can easily become confused about what behaviors are appropriate and what behaviors are not. It's too simple to accidentally shock your animal when you didn't mean to.

An inappropriately used shock collar for your dog can result in the inaccurate association of pain with normal things -- like the owner, certain foods or an inanimate object. This is a serious problem that can lead to unintended and dangerous consequences. The animal can become afraid of almost everything that has become associated with pain. The dog can become aggressive and fearful around people, children, or food -- perceiving a threat that actually isn't real.

Such a collar can go awry and cause problems if not used properly on the animal. It is imperative that users of shock collars take the time to understand the device and learn how to properly train an animal while using one. As an effective animal trainer, it's important that you train yourself first. <bio>Read more from Claire Quaty at: http://www.pets-mag.com </bio>

Organic systems recognize that our health is directly connected to the health of the food we eat and, ultimately, the health of the soil.

Here are some of the main features of organic growing:

- Organic growing severely restricts the use of artificial chemical fertilizers and pesticides. - Instead, organic growers rely on developing a healthy, fertile soil and growing a mixture of crops. - Genetically modified (GM) crops and ingredients are not allowed under organic standards.

Going organic may mean that you have to make a trade-off between glossy, same same supermarket looks with better tasting crops that aren't perfect in shape or size, but many gardeners think this is a price worth paying. You'll be able to grow different crops that are always relatively expensive to buy in supermarkets and at farmers markets and, growing your own vegetables is both fun and rewarding.

Among the many things an organic vegetable garden may offer towards a satisfying experience are fresh air, exercise, sunshine, knowledge, supplemental income, mental therapy, and fresh food, rich in vitamins and minerals, harvested at the best stage of maturity.

You can easily make compost from garden and kitchen waste, although this is a bit more time consuming, you will also make cost savings, because you do not need to buy costly chemical fertilizers and pesticides with organic gardening.

Where animal manures are available, they are probably the best source of fertilizer and organic matter for the organic gardener. Use manure which has been aged for at least 30 days if possible, or composted. I am often out in the road if any horses have gone past gathering the manure for the garden. Its looks a bit odd to the teenagers on the street but the dung is worth it!

If you have space for a few pots, or a small space in the garden or even an allotment, it is a wise decision to grow your own organic vegetable garden. To better care for your health, grow your own organic vegetables -and a few pots is all you need at a minimum.

If you have a surplus you can sell these and you will be contributing to the 'go local' food movement which is flourishing -- over 15% of people buy organic food locally and this number continues to rise as the number of farmer's markets, box schemes, cafes and restaurants serving organic food increase. GuideMeGreen helps you to find locally produced foods which are fresher, healthier and more economical. It cuts down on transport costs and 'food miles' where an average shopping basket can include fruit and vegetables transported from all over the world. Even in the UK or USA food is transported from the farm, to the packing centre, then to distribution centre before arriving at the supermarket to be bought which is then transported by car home! <bio>David Oglaza is the founder of the Green and Ethical business http://www.guidemegreen.com This growing green resource lists 100s of Organic, Fairtrade, Eco and Ethical companies.
While we love the idea of having pets in our homes and lives few of us are prepared for the various changes that must be implemented for these animals to live with us. When this happens many people will just abandon their pets. Sometimes this happens when the pet loses it baby appeal or when the novelty of having a pet has worn off. Regardless of the reason these pets eventually find their way to an animal shelter.

These animal shelters have been created to deal with the many animals and pets that are discarded once their human owners have gotten tired of having them around. The trained staff at the animal shelter will look after the animals that are found on the streets. Their health will be seen to by the vets at the animal shelter and once they have been checked out health wise, they will be cleaned up and groomed.

As most of these animals are bewildered by the various circumstances that have befallen them, they are for the most part timid and accepting of the care and good food that is provided. While these immediate needs are seen to an animal shelter is not a place where an animal must spend the entire lives.

One of the key requirements that are found in an animal shelter is a place where the various large sized animals like dogs can stretch their muscles and have some exercise. For the smaller animals there large cages that have exercise toys and environmental designs.

There will be a full time animal vet who will look after the medical health needs of the animals in the animal shelter. In addition to the presence of a vet there will other members of the animal shelter staff who will see to the happiness of these animals.

The staff will also make sure anyone who wants to adopt these animals is proven to be ready for the full responsibility of their care. This care includes seeing to the food, toys, medical and health requirements of the pets. In addition the happiness, emotional and mental conditions of the pets need to be addressed.

Once all of these concerns have been thought of and carefully considered the new adoptive family may take their new family member home for a trial time period. After the animal's happiness is assured the animal shelter staff will allow the animal to go to its new homes. These are the services that animal shelters provide to the many animals that are in need of a loving family. <bio>Author's Sites: http://dogi-food-recipes.blogspot.com , http://cat-food-recipes.blogspot.com , http://www.easyhomeremedy.com/pet_care/natural_pet_care_index.html </bio>

The wheeling and dealing on the HBO movie Slasher can sum up many people's views on deals. By setting up an $88 deal on a car, the auto salesman can entice customers into the dealership with the hopes of finding the one car that is $88 that day. When they find the car they want, they find it's not the $88 deal, but the salesman is ready to slash hundreds or thousands off the price to make the customer a deal that they gladly accept.

In the movie, another salesman makes a comment directly to the camera offering an analogy of this whole scene. He describes it as similar to a pile of manure on the side of the road for sale at $1 million. Of course, everyone passes it up until the price is slashed to only $1. Then everyone is beating down the door to buy the pile of manure.

This not so eloquent comparison is exactly what customers are wary of. People do wait for lower prices for varied reasons: low income, careful money management, or fear of being taken advantage of. Because of this often repeated scenario, most are somewhat skeptical when they hear of Las Vegas package deals that sound too good to be true.

Of course, anyone spending money on a Vegas package deal will be wondering about the truth of the offer. Is the price a good one, are the offers real, is the quality good? Most likely, even if the deal is only a few hundred dollars, for the average hard-working couple or family, losing that money to a scam will be a hardship.

Rest assured that Vegas package deals can be the real thing. After finding an affordable deal, you can research the offer and ask as many questions as you feel are needed to protect your potential investment in the deal. I found some great travel information at http://www.nightlodging.com. One deal that was researched in such a way ended up a perfect vacation. The package included two nights at a hotel not on the strip, coupons for a show, a dinner in the hotel, and breakfast.

The hotel had such amenities as a pool and a staff that treated the customers as if they were as important as any big casino "whale." This was all offered in contingency of interviewing with a time-share manager whose job was to convince the customers to go to a seminar and hopefully buy a time-share property.

This successful Vegas package deal goes to show that not all Vegas package deals are scams meant to sell you one thing but deliver something very different and below standards. In no way was the money spent on something that was not worth it. So maybe in that analogy of the manure, the salesman is not the only one to blame for selling a pile of crap. If the customer does the research and asks the right questions, they will find out if the deal is a real deal or a pile of crap <bio>Mr. Trainer enjoys the following sites: http://www.dailyrealestateinfo.com http://www.massreleases.com </bio>

These animals at the no kill animal shelters will stay in the shelter while a suitable foster family or adoptive family is found.

The various foster families who work with these unwanted animals will work hard to regain the trust of these animals. In addition the pets will learn to be a part of a family again. They will learn the various commands and obedience commands that are necessary for a household pet. When the animals are ready to be adopted the foster family will bring them back to the no kill animal shelters.

Here the screened and prepared adoptive families will be waiting to see if they are ready to adopt these gentle creatures who are just crying out for some love and caring. These families will be allowed to take their new pets' home but it will be for a short trial period. During this period the family and the pet will have a chance to bond and grow comfortable with each other.

The adoption process will be allowed by the no kill animal shelters only when they are satisfied with the caring and love that these previously unwanted pets are receiving from their new adoptive families. In many ways no kill animal shelters are the answer for a new life many pets. <bio>Author's Sites: http://dogi-food-recipes.blogspot.com , http://cat-food-recipes.blogspot.com , http://www.easyhomeremedy.com/pet_care/natural_pet_care_index.html </bio>

Incidents involving animals are unfortunately quite common, ranging from simple dog bites, to a kick from a horse or deer running in front of a car.

Particularly here, the law recognizes that the innocent party should be compensated. Whilst it might help your case to prove that the animal owner or keeper is to blame for your injury, it is not absolutely necessary.

If an animal has caused an injury by just behaving normally, then usually the keeper is liable. Only if the injured person was 'wholly' at fault, will his claim fail.

Dog bite injuries involving children and couriers are one of the most common claims solicitors are asked to advise on. Dogs are territorial or may feel intimidated when approached. If they bite, they are probably behaving normally and their keepers liable to pay compensation.

The Animals Act 1971 recognizes this and provides for compensation to be paid without any great investigation into 'blame'. There does not need to be any council or police involvement in the case for the compensation claim to succeed. The Occupiers Liability Act 1957 can also be helpful here.

Horses can cause very significant injury. Do get advice if you have been injured by a horse.

The sort of questions that we might ask you know regarding the animal include if it had it behaved in the way that caused the injury previously? What is known about it's temperament? Who was looking after it? Were there any witnesses?

Most animal owners and keepers are insured for such eventualities, whether they be householders, farmers or otherwise working the animal.

If the owner of the animal is not known or the animal is wild, there may be problems however.

If you are considering whether you can bring such a claim, we suggest you seek advise from a specialist solicitor on a true no win, no fee* basis.<bio>Andrew Bowen is the CEO of CityView Media who own and run Pinstripe Claims, Pinstripe Direct Car Insurance and Accept Direct Car Insurance.</bio>

If you would like a nice garden, you'll need a bucket of water and some garbage. That simple recipe is all you need to grow healthy, beautiful plants all summer long. But before you start floating a tin can in a some water, you need to know that there is a catch. The trick to this recipe is that you have to compost your garbage first. Compost and water are the only ingredients you need to create a powerful plant supplement known as compost tea.

Compost in the garden will improve your soil which in turn will reward you with strong plants that are better able to fend off droughts and diseases. Compost improves soil structure and drainage. It can also be used as a fertilizer or a mulch and it enhances the soil's ability to absorb water.

Compost tea provides the same benefits to a plant as compost but it doesn't stop there. Not only can compost tea can applied to the soil around plants like regular compost, but it can also be sprayed on the leaves. When sprayed directly on the leaves, it increases the amount of nutrients available to the plant and helps fight foliar diseases. It will even increase the nutritional value and improve the taste of vegetables.

There are many different ways to make compost tea but most recipes can be summarized by saying, if you steep compost in water you get compost tea.

Using rain water is the best way to make compost tea but you can get by with tap water if rain is scarce. Tap water usually contains enough chlorine in it to kill off all of the beneficial bacteria so it's best to let it sit for a few hours before using it.

The quickest and easiest way to make compost tea is with an old sock filled with compost. Throw it in a bucket and let it sit for a day and you've just made compost tea. Sure there are more complicated ways to make the tea more effective such as using air stones or fish tank bubblers to feed the mixture enough oxygen but the old sock in a bucket method works just fine. Some people add molasses to the mix and there are many other secret home recipes. But you'll do fine by using a sock filled with compost and a bucket of water. And actually the sock is optional if you have no plans on using a sprayer.

When applying compost tea with a sprayer you have to worry about clogs. Attach some cheese cloth or a piece of panty hose to the sprayer's intake with some rubber bands and you should be fine.

If you need more than a few buckets of tea, then an old fish tank or a plastic storage bin would make a great container for brewing compost tea.

After you've brewed a few batches and are happy with the results why not try aerated compost tea? You'll need to feed your mixture a constant supply of oxygen so a bubbler or air stones will be required. You need to keep it aerated so it doesn't grow any harmful pathogens. Some popular ingredients to add to bubbling compost tea are alfalfa, fish emulsion, powdered seaweed, corn meal, green sand and more. Don't use manure. Manure tea shouldn't be used as a foliar spray especially if you're growing vegetables and who wants manure floating around in their bucket anyway.

Ask a weekend gardener about compost and chances are they'll tell you it's powerful stuff with a lot of uses. But ask a serious gardener about compost and they'll probably tell you that it's the most important ingredient there is when making compost tea. <bio>Anthony Tripodi is the webmaster of http://WatchItRot.com..
So what is organic gardening? It is gardening using materials and or matter that comes from compost, manure and other living matter. It is also a way to garden without using pesticides, insecticides and other ingredients that are harmful to the earths environment. It is primarily used for health and environmental issues.

Organic gardening is an excellent way to grow your trees, shrubs, flowers, vegetables and plants. Many plants, trees, shrubs and vegetables benefit greatly with organic materials. Farmers are now turning to this type of farming due to the bad effects of poisonous insecticides and pesticides.

Organic composting comes from worms, food waste, grass clippings and old leaves. If left alone in some type of tumbler or rotating container it will eventually be consumed by bacteria. You can then use this type of "Compost" to amend your soil for your gardening needs. Humus comes from composted vegetable matter. You can make your own organic compost using a Compost Tumbler. Visit your local greenhouse or plant nursery and ask for such a product.

Mulching is another form of organic gardening. Mulch is added to the top layer of any gardening bed, tree, or plant thus keeping moisture in and suppressing weeds from growing. This helps in eliminating harmful herbicides and or insecticides into the environment. Another added benefit is that mulching will make the root system grow faster and in turn take in more natural ingredients from the earths soils.

Organic fertilizers are cottonseed meal, blood meal, Fish Emulsion, manure and sewage sludge. Many of these type of fertilizers are high or low on the three types of nutrients needed for your plants such as nitrogen, phosphorus, or potash.

Be sure to read labels before purchasing. In my opinion fish emulsion is the best and easiest to apply. You should also be aware that some organic fertilizers may burn the plants.

Manure the fresher the better over time this type of fertilizer will weaken, but do not overuse as it can burn plants. Yea I know it stinks but it works. Farmers now sell organic matter but you can also purchase organic compost at your local garden nursery. Just be sure to ask for "Organic compost" or "Organic Potting Soil".

Cottonseed oil is the safest but is normally used for acid loving plants.

Blood meal comes from cattle blood after they have been slaughtered. Be careful not to overuse blood meal as it can also burn plants. It is high in nitrogen and good for green foliage.

You can also make your own organic compost. Leaves, tree and shrub cuttings make excellent compost. You will need to purchase a compost bin or tumbler that can help speed up the process. Be sure to add a compost maker material this can also be added to the compost bin for a good organic compost soil.

If you are concerned about the environment then "Organic Gardening" is the way to go or should I say grow.<bio>Paul Guzman is the author of this article.
The idea of having a pet is an idea that many people consider but they rarely take the various needs of their new pet into account when they start the process to adopt this pet. These people will just see about adopting any pet that they see in pet stores and at the pet shelters that look cute. It is only when the animal adoption process is finished and they have taken the new family member home, that they are confronted by the reality of their having adopted an animal.

For this reason and many others when you decide to adopt any type of pet you should see if you have the ability to take of that pet. There are many different animals that can be considered as pets. These pets are generally dogs, guinea pigs, cats, parrots, rabbits, hamsters, and different varieties of fresh water fish and saltwater fish.

While these are the main types of animal adoption pets that people consider having as companions or just plain pets, there are other exotic pets that some people think would be appropriate as pets. These types of pets include snakes, turtles, other reptiles and hawks, and even lion cubs.

Regardless of the type of animal that you may consider owning there are certain factors that need to be thought of before you go through with an animal adoption procedure. These factors will include the animal's emotional state, mental state and the physical condition of this animal once you have taken the animal to your home.

While you may think that owning a pet is easy there are many requirements that your new pet will need seen to. As these various animals have different temperaments and requirements for their happiness and health, you will need to talk with an animal veterinarian or staff at animals shelters to understand the various needs of your new pet.

In an animal adoption you are taking home a pet whose likes and dislikes are already probably well established. These likes and dislikes will extend even to their dietary requirements. When you are looking into the types of food that are suitable for your new pet you should understand what are the foods that will provide them with a good nutritious meal.

These many facts are needed to be thought of when you are looking into an animal adoption. Even though there are lots of pets who need a home and lots of love you have to be suitable for their future needs and happiness. So until you are sure about giving a 100% of your time and attention to these animals you may want to wait a while before you adopt a pet. <bio>Author's Sites: http://dogi-food-recipes.blogspot.com , http://cat-food-recipes.blogspot.com , http://www.easyhomeremedy.com/pet_care/natural_pet_care_index.html </bio>

Have you been attacked by an animal maybe a dog or cat that wasn't your fault. If you've suffered any pain, medical treatment that has incurred costs, loss of earnings as you've been unable to attend work full time or part time as well as any fees you've paid. If so you have the legal and civil right to claim compensation for the points listed above.

You may have been bitten by a dog whilst going out for a walk on your own or with your family whatever the circumstances this should have never happened to you. You also may have been walking your dog and another dog has tried to attack your dog and you have tried to stop this from happening and in the process have got yourself bitten. None of this is your fault and this dog should never have bitten you and therefore you have a right to claim compensation for your pain and suffering.

It may have been a cat that has bitten you more unlikely than a dog but this can happen and if so the above applies to you too, no animal should bite a human but some dogs have a violent streak and there's nothing we humans can do to prevent this except good dog training but sometimes this still isn't enough.

It may even involve being kicked by a horse, this can occur serious injuries, as their kick is so powerful it may kick your leg, shoulder, head and stomach and chest. Wherever it may kick you it can be very painful and you may need to consult a hospital for your injuries.

Proving the owner of the dog, cat, horse or any other animal is to blame for your injury can help your compensation claim but its no necessary. If the animal was behaving as it usually does normally the owner of the animal is usually liable but if the person injured was making the dog act different this may cause problems with the claim.

Children, postmen and other courier workers delivering parcels to homes are at a higher risk of being bitten by a dog. Dogs can be very territorial about their home and their owners and can become intimidated when they are approached. Children are more likely just to go up to a dog and stroke it, this may catch the dog off guard and get scared and this is when the dog may bite the child.

Any animal attack doesn't necessarily have to involve a police investigation for the compensation claim to be successful as the Animals Act of 1971 realises that blame isn't the whole case of the owner.

If you have had any of the above happen to you and you've suffered loss of earnings, suffering of pain, medical costs you should consult a specialised solicitor where they can take on your claim and help you along the way of claiming your compensation. Some questions a solicitor may ask you concerning the animal attack is were their any witnesses if so they may be contacted to get a report of what they saw, who was with the animal if anyone, if you've seen or met the animal before was it the same reaction as this time and who owns and looks after the animal. <bio>Jene is the Webmaster of Accident Consult, we are lawyers who work on a No Win No Fee basis and specialize in http://www.accidentconsult.com/articles/showarticles/AnimalAttackInjuries/1= /AnimalAttackClaims.html Animal Attack Personal Injury Claims. </bio>
