Many people have realized that the quality of air inside the home is not of the same standard it once was. This has caused an entire industry to emerge with the goal and focus of cleaning up the air inside the home. This helps clean up the atmosphere because the amount of pollutants emerging from homes out into the environment is greatly reduced. Each air purifier is slightly different, despite having the same primary goal.

The Alpine air purifier is one of the best air purifiers on the market today. When doing a comparison for air purifiers online, you are likely to come across the Alpine air purifier without having to look very long. The Alpine air purifier is one of the smaller air purifier units that is capable of purifying the entire house on its own. This is part of what gives the Alpine air purifier so much credibility in the market today.

The Alpine air purifier also takes great pride in the fact that it is very portable and easy to move around, giving the consumer flexibility when they are trying to clean the air in their home. Most other air purifier units by different manufacturers are too large to be freely moved around.

The Alpine air purifier is also perfect for anywhere you might want to freshen the air, whether it is a storage room, attic, home gym or even an office. The Alpine air purifier is perfect for removing mildew, mold, pet dander and other harmful particles in the air; you are able to enjoy clean, healthier air in virtually no time at all.

The Alpine air purifier is not a cheap store brand. It stands for quality, integrity and standards that are completely unsurpassed in the field. While some Alpine air purifier units can be purchased for less than $200, you can rest assured you are getting a quality product that will last a very long time and keep your air much cleaner for years to come.

Is the price of an Alpine air purifier worth it? Most definitely, especially when compared to the reduced occurrences of allergies and other respiratory problems. Many consumers are able to breathe much more easily, knowing that the harmful particles in the air are removed, leaving clean air that leaves them relaxed and breathing better. <bio>Find more Helpful [ http://www.airpurifiersonsale.com/] Air Purifier tips, advice Click Here: http://www.airpurifiersonsale.com A Popular website that specializes in tips and resources to include Allergy Relief Air Purifier, Car Air Purifier, and [ http://airpurifiersonsale.com/air-purifier-humidifier.html] Air Purifier Humidifier </bio>

A visit to Wallowa Lake Tramway in Oregon is an experience you will never forget. That's because the views are incredible and the ascent is so amazing that you will always have this memory guarded in your mind's eye. In 1970 the gondola ride opened in Wallowa County and it became the attraction that was most popular. Since then tourists who ride the tram up the 3700 feet to Mt. Howard's summit report back that it is an experience of a lifetime and one that will never be forgotten. In fact, many tourists come back time and time again to bring family members and friends or to experience the wonder of this trip one more time.

If you are wondering what the Wallowa Lake Tramway is all about just imagine sliding into a gondola and have it take you up 3700 feet to the summit of a mountain. Imagine the beautiful views you will encounter along the way and the joy you will experience from the bird's eye view.

Some of the things you will see as you are ascending to the summit include the blue waters of Wallowa Lake as well as the rugged peaks that stick out from the Eagle Cap Wilderness area. The ride up is amazing, but when you reach the summit you will have a new experience that won't be soon forgotten as well. At the summit you will encounter temperatures that are a bit cooler not to mention beautiful plants and vegetation. Most of the plants and vegetation only grow in alpine areas so you may not be familiar with all the plants.

There are lots of trails you can walk along as well to learn a little bit more about the area. There are signs that tell you the names of plants as well as any other important information you might need to know. So, as you are walking all your questions will be answered and you will learn quite a lot about the area. If you don't want to walk down a path then you might enjoy hanging out at the Summit Grill and Alpine patio. There you can enjoy anything from a nice beverage to a full meal while basking in the beautiful views that will literally take your breath away.

Once you see this kind of beauty you will always remember it and may even want to return for family reunions, weddings, picnics, or any other outing.

There is a website that has great information on USA Vacations and Unique Travel Spots Listed State By State and Season, the website is called: Seasonal Vacation Spots, and can be found at this url:

http://www.seasonalvacationspots.com

By Robert W.
While it may be immaterial where our plants for the rock garden come from, in so far as the effects which we create with them are concerned, their origin does make a difference in regard to the culture to be given them. For this reason, if for no other, it is desirable to know something of the differences in the several classes of plants available for rock garden use.

But in addition to this utilitarian advantage, there is another of quite equal importance. Even though one may know little, and possibly care less, concerning botany, any plant takes on greater interest when we know something of its associations and its history. In fact, it is impossible to dissociate these from the intrinsic qualities of the plant. The edelweiss of the Alps, for instance, "without which no rock garden is complete," in the opinion of some, is but a tiny flower surrounded by a bract of white woolly leaves, which would be passed by as a modest weed if it grew by the garden path.

But when one has read of adventurous spirits risking limb and life to find it blooming among the snow and ice of alpine heights, it naturally assumes an interest more than commensurate with whatever beauty it may possess as a flower. The more you know concerning your plants, whether in your rock garden or planted amongst your patio statuary, http://www.garden-fountains.com/Detail.bok?no=3254, the better you can provide for them and the greater the joy which they may give you.

Alpine Plants:

An "alp" is a high mountain anywhere, not necessarily, as many people take for granted, one of the range in northern Italy and Switzerland; it comes originally from the Gaelic word for mountain pasture.

True alpine plants are mountain plants from any part of the world, native to those altitudes above the timberline, and extending as far upward as any vegetation can survive. They grow where the natural drainage is exceptionally good, but where their roots are constantly supplied with moisture, mostly from melting snow and ice, and consequently nearly ice cold. The season for growth and flowering is brief, often little over one hundred days.

Logically, the nearer one may approximate these conditions in making a rock garden, the better are the chances of success with this particular type of rock plant. Those who live in northern sections, at comparatively high altitudes, especially where the growing seasons are short and snow remains on the ground for months at a time, have an advantage over the rest of us when it comes to alpines.

Subalpine Plants:

Occasionally, in the catalogs or in rock garden literature, we will find the term "subalpine." This applies to plants of alpine character which grow somewhat farther down the mountain slopes, below the timber line.

Such are more likely to tolerate some degree of shade, and, while absolutely hardy, not so likely to enjoy standing with their feet in cold water. These plants are ideal for gardens with outdoor water features that provide shade.

Mountain Plants:

Still others there are from the lower mountain regions, foothills, and rocky slopes, which possess many of the characteristics of the true alpine plants, but which naturally are still more amenable to such a home as may be provided for them almost anywhere; insisting, nevertheless, upon exceptionally good drainage, and soil which suits their wild nature, and frequently, in ordinary rich garden soil, either going to one extreme and perishing outright, like the trailing arbutus, or to the other and getting so fat, flabby, and bourgeois that their beauty vanishes, as is the case with the wild columbine.

Moraine Plants:

Plants which, in your catalogs, you find specifically recommended for moraine planting, cannot be expected to give equal satisfaction elsewhere. The combination of an almost perfectly dry surface soil and a more than usually abundant supply of moisture at the roots, is not generally to be found unless there is special provision for it. Planting moraine plants near outdoor water falls (http://www.garden-fountains.com/Detail.bok?no=1067) is not recommended, due to the need for a dry top soil.

Moraine plants constitute, therefore, a class which the beginner will do well to keep away from, unless he has the means for providing the special conditions they require; even then, it will be better to wait until experience has been gained with plants more easily managed.

Bog Plants:

Most of the bog plants, on the other hand, are very readily handled. They grow in wet places, but not actually in the water, like the aquatics. Note should be made of the fact that there are many alpines and rock plants recommended "for moist situations," or "moist soil," which are not bog plants; that is, they will not thrive where there is water standing in the soil, as the genuine bog plants, such as the marsh marigold, or pitcher plant, do.

Many of the bog plants which, in their native locations, are covered with water for several months of the year, will get along nicely in much less moist (but not dry) situations. The native iris and the cardinal flower are examples of these.

The bog garden, however, is not logically a part of the rock garden. Many plants often included in alpine and rock plant lists, which really belong to the bog garden, merely serve to confuse the beginner. If one is starting out to make a rock garden, there is no necessity for wandering frequently or far into the swamps in search of material for it.<bio>Sarah Martin is a freelance marketing writer based out of San Diego, CA.
When buying snowboarding equipment the first item on most minds is the snowboard. So what are the basic 'need to knows' of the snowboard types?

Types of Snowboard:

There are three types of snowboard to consider: Freestyle, Freeride(all mountain) and Alpine (carving boards).

Freestyle Snowboards

These are wide, stable snowboards that are forgiving to ride. They are very responsive which makes them good equipment used for snowboarding for novices. The snowboard characteristics make them good for pulling tricks but less responsive in high speed carving due to flexibility and edge grip. They are often twin tipped and multi directional making them good for tricks and half pipes but ideal for beginners.

Freeride(all mountain)Snowboards

Generally the most popular snowboard on the slopes. Good for all mountain use, park or half pipe. Freeride snowboards tend to float reasonably well on powder, can carve and can be used to catch air, this make them popular boards. Freeride snowboards tend to be directional, meaning one end (the tip) is wider than the tail. They tend to be soft and manouveurable for beginners but offer enough stiffness for fast carves in harder snow, these boards offer a mix of characteristics between freestyle and alpine snowboards.

Alpine Snowboards

definitely not for the novice, these snowboards are stiff, narrow, long and built for speed. Built for speed carving and stability at speed with good edge holding powers they tend to be either symmetrical or asymmetrical but always built for one way travel.

Length and Width of Snowboard

Once you have chosen the type of snowboard that best suits your level of competence and ride style there are then several other factors to be considered in your choice of snowboard before buying.

Your height and foot size play an important part in your choice of snowboard.

The length of snowboard that will suit will be down to the riders height and ridestyle. Snowboards are usually 100cms to 180cms long.

A freestyle snowboard should stand tall enough to reach between the riders shoulders and chin when stood on end.

A freeride snowboard should reach between chin and eyebrows.

An alpine or carving snowboard should stand tall enough to reach a point between the forehead and a few inches above the head.

Foot size is important for determining the width of the snowboard. If your feet overhang the board there is a danger of catching an edge and tumbling. If your feet are too small then it is difficult to apply pressure to the edges to initiate turns. If you are an advanced rider using a carving board with big feet it may be necessary to alter your stance to avoid overhanging the edges.

Of course before you buy equipment used for snowboarding you should rent a few snowboards first to see what style, brand best suit you. <bio>John Rodgers writes for http://www.snowboarding-picture.com </bio>

Are you looking for a way to stay fit and have fun in the winter? Consider cross-country skiing! Depending on your weight, the intensity of your skiing, and whether or not you choose to ski hills, cross country skiing may burn between 400 and 1400 calories per hour. In fact, since cross-country skiing involves a simultaneous use of the arms and legs, many exercise physiologists consider it to be the best form of aerobic exercise. The main difference between cross country Skiing and alpine or downhill skiing is that cross country skiing, the skier is attached to the ski only with the toe of the boot.. In alpine skiing, the entire boot is attached to the ski. The free heel allows cross-country skiers to climb uphill which is not very comfortable in alpine skis.

Cross-country skiing dates back to Scandinavia 4000-4500 years ago, when it was used as a method of transportation. Today, the sport is divided into two disciplines: classic skiing which uses a straight-ahead gliding motion, and ski skating which makes use of glide and edge movements similar to ice skating or roller blading.

Cross-country skiing is part of the Nordic family of sports, which include a number of exciting ways to play in the snow. Biathlon is a combination of cross-country skiing and rifle marksmanship. Nordic combined combines scoring of jumping and cross-country skiing events. Ski orienteering involves a marker search on skis with the help of a compass and map.

Compared to downhill skiing, the gear used for cross-country skiing is some of the most affordable outdoor sports equipment available. You will need the following types of equipment for cross-country skiing:

- Skis with bindings attached, - Poles and boots. - Clothing suitable for cold-weather aerobic activity

Some people choose to go cross-country skiing on packed trails, while others like to ski anywhere there is snow. There is a distinct difference between skiing on packed trails and skiing andquot;off-trackandquot;. On packed surfaces your skis will have greater gliding ability and with classic tracks, you will have two grooved channels that your skis can follow. Off-track ski conditions are dependent on the weather and any previous skiers that have been in the area. However, off-track skiing can feature obstacles such as fallen trees, swollen rivers and inconsistent snow quality. This is usually not an issue in commercial cross-country ski areas, who conduct extensive trail work throughout the summer months. <bio>Raquel S. Hunter is a writer for MamasHealth.com.
A Kenyan Safari to the Mount Kenya National Park and Reserve should be on your list of options when planning a safari if only because of its height, being the second highest mountain in Africa. Mount Kenya is 17,058 feet high and the National Park and Reserve has 1300 square kilometres of forest reserve with 715 square kilometres above the 10,500 ft tree line, where the entire mountain is National Park

This height means that what you are going to see a huge variety of spectacular scenery which makes the Park very special. There are lakes, tarns, glaciers, peaks, natural mineral springs, and the vegetation changes quite dramatically with the height from sea level. Add to this high altitude adapted plains game, and unique alpine vegetation with eleven species of endemic plants. The surroundings in the Mount Kenya Safari Park are truly breathtaking

You will find dry upland forest in the lower slopes, then after about 7000 ft this changes to montane forest of cedar and podo which then changes to thick bamboo at a little over 8000 ft, and then these die out as you climb higher, and you find smaller trees and high altitude mosses. After 10000ft you come onto high altitude heath and shrubs , and then finally above 11000 feet there is open moorland.

A Kenya safari is mostly about wildlife, and Mount Kenya national park has its fair share, again changing with altitude, and the season of the year. During the rains it is the dispersal area for Meru National Park especially elephant and buffalo. In fact electrified fencing has been put up near populated areas to keep the elephants off farmland.

The wildlife in the forest below the Park Boundary includes the aforementioned elephant and buffalo. To which can be added lion, several different species of antelope including the very rare bongo. If you are incredibly lucky you might see up to eleven species unique to this area above 2500 metres. There are the black leopard, black and white Colobus and Sykes monkeys, bushbuck, buffalo, elephant. Then lower down Olive baboon, waterbuck, black rhino, black fronted duikers, leopard, giant forest hog, genet cat, bushpig and hyena.. The very privileged few might even see albino zebra. Above the treeline you'll find high altitude zebra and eland.

The accommodation in the Mount Kenya National Park consists of one lodge, seven climber huts, and three self help banda sites , and three lodges and a self help banda site just outside the park.

To summarise the attractions of the Mount Kenya National Park and reserve.

There is excellent game viewing, fantastic scenery, with the lakes, tarns, glaciers, and high peaks. A number of rare birds and animals, and the high altitude plains game and the mountain forest. Added to this the natural mineral springs, and for a few intrepid souls mountain climbing itself, but this is not for the hill walker but more the skilled mountaineer.

If you are planning a memorable Kenyan Safari then a trip to the Mount Kenya National Park and Reserve promises to be a wonderful experience.

For more information on In Kenya safaris go to http://www.in-kenyasafari.com/pages/Site-Map.html <bio>Peter Stewart writes exclusively for http://www.in-kenyasafari.com as well as http://www.worldwidevacationspots.com and has visited personally many of the places he reports on, and has done extensive research on the others </bio>

What are the implications of Butterfly Gardening? It is basically the method of cultivating plants and flowers in a garden, so that the delicate and bright butterflies are invited to it. Please your relatives and comrades with these lovely insects. However, ascertain that you have a secure home for them. If one has cats, one should reconsider his decisions, for cats may be the cause of the end of butterflies.

Plan a Butterfly Garden according to your private choice. While planning, the common issues to ponder upon are the dimensions of the garden and the kind of flora and vegetation one would like to cultivate. While choosing a garden of your choice, remember that the garden should have the flora and vegetation that invite butterflies.

It is necessary to discover the types of vegetation and flora, which invite the variety butterflies dwelling in one's locality. The library of the area will provide with this data. Any sort of water is necessary for the formation of the surroundings that will invite butterflies. Birdbaths appear striking. They also help to protect the insects from wandering cats and naughty dogs, by making them remain above the earth. A low, not very deep saucer, hanging from a tree or kept on a stick, will also serve the purpose.

While seeding a butterfly garden, one has to remember how he harmonizes the hues he has selected for his bed of flowers. Even though butterflies are least bothered by the selection of hues, one would hate his garden if it was a jumble of mismatched hues and surfaces. Lavender, Day Lilies, Yellow Sage, Purple Coneflower, Valerian, Daisies, Milkweed, Honeysuckle, Summer Lilac are some of the flowers which invite butterflies, for they are fascinated by flowers with nectar and not pollen.

It is convenient for a few people to sketch and paint a design of their butterfly garden diagram, to discover how their garden would look once completed. It has to be remembered that temperate hues such as red and orange are ostentatious and gaudy. Such hues leave a powerful impression when set in a dominant green backdrop. Hues having a calming and subdued effect, like calm blue and purple, look good against a white background, and generate an appearance of newness and brilliance. <bio>Faisal Diab is involved in an online gardening project focused towards educating the public about the wonderful world of gardening.
According to the US Environmental Protection Agency, planting trees and vegetation is a simple and effective way to reduce heat islands. When a city such as Downtown Clearwater strategically plants trees around homes and buildings the interior is directly cooled, therefore reducing air conditioning and peak energy demand. It has been proven that trees effectively cool the air and buildings around them through the production of shade and "evapotranspiration" which is the evaporation of water from leaves.

It is interesting to learn that the shade from trees make the surface cooler anywhere from 9 to 36 degrees F or 5 to 20 degrees C. This is much cooler than the peak surface temperature of un-shaded areas. These cool "shaded" areas decrease the quantity of heat transferring to buildings=85.thus reducing the energy needed for air conditioning.

We should also keep in mind that trees and vegetation improve air quality most notably by reducing Carbon Dioxide (CO2) emissions, decreasing storm water runoff and by improving community livability. NASA reported in a 2004 article that some US cities have initiated the planting of rooftop gardens on city buildings to help cool the urban surface. Rooftop gardens insulate buildings and reduce energy consumption by intercepting solar energy that would otherwise heat the roof surface. And because rooftop gardens are irrigated, evapotranspiration helps cool the air.

What should you do this weekend? Cool down by planting a tree. But first we would suggest that you visit the official Clearwater website at www.myclearwater.com, and review the residential development guide. It's a great resource for recommended shade trees with low water usage that will fit into the landscape of beautiful Clearwater. Also for further interest and more in-depth research documentation, you can also visit www.epa.gov/hiri/strategies/vegetation.html. And as always, you can become a member of the Clearwater Downtown Partnership and help us create a beautiful downtown that will become Tampa Bay's new destination! <bio>Jenny Esno is an Executive Board Member of the Clearwater Downtown Partnership and owner of 1st Continental Mortgage.
What a great tool the internet is. It seems whatever childhood memory you may possess you can simply punch it in to Google and a huge number of references will appear before your very eyes in the fraction of a second. In this case it was the Grand Pier at Weston-Super-Mare.

Like it or not I am not as young as I used to be and was just thinking of all the happy times myself and generations of other kids had on the pier at Weston-Super-Mare which sadly was destroyed by fire this week. I can remember the joy of winning a pocket full of loose change on the "coin waterfall" machines only to lose it straight back again or worse still drop it and tearfully watch the coins disappear down the gaps in the wooden deck to be consumed by the mud below.

The journeys to and from Weston were always memorable too. On the way you would have all the euphoria of reaching your journey's end with the promise of candy floss and donkey rides and such like tinged with the anxiety of are we actually going to make it there? Back then it was only my Grandparents who had a car and my Grandad was a slave to his British cars. I recall he had a Morris Oxford which was a bit notorious for overheating and although we lived in Bristol which is about 20 miles from Weston you could pretty much guarantee we would only make it as far as the Clifton Suspension Bridge before clouds of steam would emanate from under the bonnet.

Anticipating this eventuality I would always carry my I-Spy books with me. I was right into cars so it would usually be I-Spy cars. I would sit there for hours happily car spotting. Upon sighting of a Chrysler Sunbeam my sister and I would annoyingly sing the advert theme tune "Put a Chrysler Sunbeam in your life" sung by Petula Clark which was being sang in playgrounds up and down the land.

Shortly after the demise of the Morris Oxford my Grandad bought a brand new Chrysler Alpine which was light years ahead of the Oxford which had it's origins in the sixties. The Alpine was cutting edge and ensured we had many trouble free trips to Weston and even beyond!

Chrysler had bought the troubled British car maker the Rootes Group and I discovered that our beloved Alpine was built at the Ryton car plant which was just down the road from where I now live until it's recent closure and subsequent demolition. Chrysler had bought a liability with the Rootes Group which although gave us many much loved vehicles was not sustainable and pretty much bankrupted Chrysler Europe who wisely off- loaded Rootes to PSA (Peugeot Citroen). My Grandad who was so pleased with his Alpine stayed loyal and went on to own a Solara which was actually a Talbot but he didn't mind!

Chrysler which has recently severed its ties with Daimler and put the financial worries of the past behind it now has a solid range of vehicles to choose from. The Dodge and Jeep brands are also incorporated under the Chrysler Group of companies.

There are a few crossover vehicles in the ranges such as the Dodge Nitro but the heritage of each brand has been maintained and the latest offerings from Chrysler are arousing significant interest. The new SRT designed 300c SRT-8 is an awesome beast of a car with a 6.1 litre V8 engine, definitely not for the feint hearted! The Voyager and Grand Voyager has staked a claim as being the most popular MPV on the market and when you drive one you can see why. Sales of the retro PT cruiser continue to be buoyant.

Chrysler has made its mark in automotive history and thanks to Petula Clark we will always remember the Sunbeam!<bio>Jon Barlow recalls Chrysler of yesteryear but your Chrysler Dealer should be able to hook you up with a modern alternative</bio>

The company is a manufacturer of the Ecoquest Air Purification system. This system claims to relieve breathing problems such as asthma and allergies and other breathing difficulties. The technology of this air filter is somewhat the same as any other air filter, but this one has a carbon filter and a ultra-violet light ionizer source.

The main advantage of the UV source, they claim, is that the UV is able to kill microorganisms and bacteria in the air. The ionizer then reduces the pollutants in your home by producing ozone. But there are some that claim that Ozone is a gas and is a major component in Smog.

Cell damage can be caused by Ozone in the nasal passages and lungs, and this can be a harmful threat to anyone that has a breathing disorder. Air purifiers are a benefit if they are what they claim they are. If, in fact, Ecoquest is making a product that does what they claim, then they should be able to sell them without any problem and you should be able to make some money doing this business.

They seem to be venturing in laundry purifiers and nutritional supplements now. Their nutrition products include sports nutrition and weight management. They also are involved in water purification systems.

Ecoquest seems to be disconnecting themselves from their predecessor, Alpine Industries. What some don't realize, Alpine is the parent company for Ecoquest. When the Federal Trade Commission found out about the claims, they told them to stop. Well, the company didn't stop all the way; they did post a warning label on the side of the purifier stating a new warning. But they didn't stop making the claims that it relives asthma and respiratory problems.

There were some litigation between the company and the FTC and the company was fined $1.49 million on the health claim charges. I guess it doesn't pay to sue the Federal Trade Commission when they have the upper hand.

So, needless to say, Ecoquest has not had the best reputation to work with. They have a network marketing system in place and have even tried to sell them door-to-door to get their name out as Ecoquest, and again distancing themselves from the Alpine Industry name.

In their business opportunity end of things, they provide you with the ability to do retail sales or you can help others build their business. They offer incentives such as travel dollars, company funded travel and expense program. They offer a luxury bonus car and annual profit sharing. Another incentive they have is trips to exotic places all over the world as a vacation for you. And they offer earnings from 6% to 42% on your group activity.

As with any other MLM business program, they all seem to be the same. If you work hard and stay committed, you will make some money. If you think just by signing up a few recruits will do it for you, then you will be disappointed. Check out the company and review them compensation plan. Is this a company that you can feel confident with and represent them in such a way that those around you will want to purchase their products? No other country on earth offers the depth, breadth, and scope of Italy. For lovers of art, history, architecture, or music Italy is unsurpassable. From the Ancient Roman Empire to the Medieval Tuscan fortress towns and the Venetian Republic, Italy's incredible historical diversity has come together to produce a country so incredible, so remarkable, so beautiful as to leave the visitor with an unquenchable desire to return again and again. The legacy of the Renaissance and its masterpieces of art, music, and architecture have left such a tangible mark on the Italian soul one can barely help being swept along in the tide of culture. If you're a lover of nature, there are majestic mountains, crystal seas, rolling hills, fertile plains, sweeping cliffs, and magical lagoons, you need to travel to Italy.

Travel to Italy -- The Cities to See Milan is rivaled only by Paris as the fashion capital of the world and is shopping at its best. Rome has been the heart of Italy from the time of the Romans through today; to walk its streets is to walk in the footsteps of Emperors and Popes. Florence is the birthplace of the Renaissance and its presence reverberates through the old cobbled streets and beautiful churches. Venice - the most unique and romantic city in the world, stands timeless and beautiful in the midst of the Adriatic, a magnificent creation highlighting man at his most artistic. Finally the majestic and striking natural beauty of the Amalfi Coast, a place to relax, soak in the tremendous natural beauty, dine on the world's favorite cuisine at its finest, and experience that special joy of being that is uniquely Italian. No matter what you're seeking, it awaits you when you travel Italy and visit its cities.

The Weather When you travel to Italy, it's important to know that despite its geographical position at the center of the temperate zone, Italy has rather variable climatic characteristics. This is due to the presence of the Mediterranean, whose warm waters mitigate thermal extremes, and the Alpine arc, which forms a barrier against the cold north winds. Furthermore, when you travel Italy, remember that Italy is subject to both wet and moderate atmospheric currents from the Atlantic Ocean and dry and cold ones from Eastern Europe.

The Apennine chain too, confronting the wet winds from the Tyrrhenian, causes considerable climatic differences between the opposite sides of the peninsula. The differences in temperature between the winter and summer months are more marked in the northern regions than in the south and along the coasts. The mean temperatures for the month of January in the Po Plain fluctuate around zero, while in the Alpine valleys the thermometer can drop to -20 and snow can remain on the ground for many weeks.

In the southern regions, instead, the mean temperatures for January remain around 10, with the exception of the inland mountainous zones. Mean summer temperatures throughout all Italy rise to 24-25 for July, only being lower in the highest zones. Rainfall distribution also varies considerably, due to the influence of both mountains and prevailing winds. The highest quantities are registered in the Alpine arc (over 3,000 mm pa in the Lepontine and Julian Alps) and on the Apennines (over 3,000 mm pa in the Apuan Alps). The plains, however, including that of the Po, receive scarce precipitation. Generally it is less than 800-900 mm pa but in the southern regions (Tavoliere and southern Sicily) it falls below 600 mm pa. The great internal Alpine valleys and the coastal plains of the Tyrrhenian (Maremma) and Sardinia also receive little rain. Altogether, six large climatic regions can be distinguished, mainly characterized by mountain influence.

So as you can see, when you travel to Italy, there is much to experience. The culture, history, and beauty of Italy make Italy a top European travel destination. <bio>For more information on travel to Italy and other regions in Europe, and discount airfare to Italy, visit http://www.cfares.com.. </bio>

As flights to Europe become cheaper and as the pound becomes stronger there are an increasing number of people deciding to go off on Ski Holidays. Traditionally skiing had been restricted to the wealthy but there are an increasing number of young people that can now afford to have a skiing break. Ski holidays are attracting a new audience. When I started skiing I was daunted by the variety of types of different ski activities and was afraid to ask. Here is a brief introduction to the different types of skiing that are out there.

Skiing is not just about hammering down the slopes in the fastest time possible. Alpine freestyle focuses on finesse and performing tricks on the slopes. It has been referred to as acrobatics on skis. Skiers use jumps and rails to perform aerial tricks that are similar to those performed in urban areas on skateboards.

Cross country or Nordic Skiing is a type of skiing that is performed worldwide. It is probably the most prevalent form of skiing as it does not require a special ski area, it can therefore be performed anywhere that has snow. Cross country skis are long and thin to help distribute the weight of the skier. Cross country skiers often use their ski poles to propel themselves along as well pushing the skis sideways in a technique similar to ice skating.

People off on their ski holidays may be presented with the opportunity to attempt ski jumping. Ski jumping or Nordic jumping is a competitive sport that involves the skier travelling down a specially constructed ski ramp and off a jump at the end in an attempt to achieve a further distance than the competitors. The ski jumper uses specially designed skis that are wider and longer than normal skis.

Off-Piste or Randonee skiing is when a skier leaves the marked runs or Pistes in search of freshly dropped snow. It is an activity that is done by advanced skiers. This is because the skier is never fully aware of the types of terrain they will face and have to be competent enough to deal with an enormous variety of situations. The skier may travel to areas that are prone to avalanches and as a result the practice is banned at many US ski resorts. It is legal everywhere but ski resorts will offer advice on where to avoid. It is strongly recommended that you adhere to this advice.

Telemark skiing utilises flexible ski boots that do are not attached to the skis at the heel. Named after the Telemark region of Norway and dates back to 1868 when the father of modern skiing Sandre Norheim used this type of binding when he competed in a ski jump competition. Since then alpine ski fittings have gradually replaced the telemark system as the telemark skis are better suited to rolling terrain than the steeper downhill runs. Telemark skiing is physically more demanding than Alpine skiing.

As well as being a recreational activity for civilians, skiing is also utilised as a training activity for the military. Warfare has also taken place on skis and ski troops have played a key role in military activity. Records were made of ski warfare as early as the thirteenth century. More recently ski troops helped Finland remain independent from Russia during the Winter War. They also helped repel the German forces during the Lapland War. <bio>Shaun Parker has been an avid skier for many years. He shares his knowledge to help advise people off on their ski holidays.
Why skiing? Because it is not only enjoyable, but is a great way of fitness: skiing is a great form of exercise requiring a level of skill, balance, and flexibility. Skiing is also great way to strengthen and tone several muscle groups.

What can be such a big fun like skiing? The mountains, the views, the blue sky and breathing clean mountain air...unless you are in an indoor sky slope in Dubai. But if you would like to have real adventure, go outside.

Vermont is New England's winter sports capital and Vermont Ski Areas attract thousands of skiers every ski season. It is not an exaggeration that Vermont has the hottest skiing resorts in the eastern US. You can explore the best ski and snowboard resorts in the eastern US in Vermont.

Vermont is a very important feature of U.S. ski history. The first alpine ski lift in America was in Woodstock, and many Vermont Olympians have lifted ski medals on the podium. Cross-country skiing caught on at the Trapp Family Lodge and telemark skiing began its renaissance here. Vermont is home to the first U.S. Olympic gold medal winner in nordic skiing, Bill Koch, as well as outstanding alpine skiers such as Betsy Snite, Andrea Meade, Suzy Chaffee, Billy Kidd and several members of the Cochrane family. The Green Mountain State is a heaven for ski apostles of all tastes and experience levels.

If you would like to go to a very well equipped and large area, try Killington first: this place

offers the most skiing ... Killington is the largest ski and snowboard area in the East. Killington offers most variety of terrain served by the East's highest capacity lift system. Six interconnected mountains and nearby Pico Mountain, provide unparalleled diversity of skiing and the greatest vertical in New England. Snowboarders are drawn to the challenge of the longest terrain park in the East.

Killington also features nearby lodging, convenient services, family activities, some of the best ski shops in New England. Within the region there are also a variety of shopping delights -- factory outlets, antique shops, artisan workshops, craft fairs and rustic country stores.

You'll find easy access to the resort by ground transportation services or by resort shuttle systems. You'll have a great experience if you visit Vermont, don't miss it! <bio>Fruzsina Csery wrote this article for http://www.vermontatoz.com </bio>

Are you thinking of taking up the sport of climbing? It is surely an activity that is exhilarating and exciting. It's not for everyone as it is a sport that is physically demanding and not for the faint of heart. Climbing is not simply one activity; there are many different types of climbing and many times a climb consists of two or more types of climbing. There is bouldering, free soloing, sport, traditional (or trad), aid, alpine, and ice climbing. Familiarizing yourself with these types of climbing will aid you in determining which you prefer and what type of climb is right for you.

Bouldering is climbing over boulders, as the name suggests. The only equipment required in bouldering is usually a "crash" pad to protect you against falls. While this type of climbing requires less equipment and training than other forms of climbing, there can be risks. Crash pads made of foam provide a cushion in case there is a fall. Sometimes a spotter is used who can move a pad if a climber falls; in essence catching the falling climber. There is no special footwear required for bouldering; traditional rock climbing shoes are generally used.

Free soloing is a type of climbing that is popular but more risky as very little equipment is used. There is nothing to aid your travel up the mountain or protect you from falls. Since it is done alone there is no one to administer first aid or get help in case there is an accident. Most instructors will tell you not to free solo especially if you or not an advance climber. There is still the appeal for those who are adventurous.

Rock climbing incorporates methods of trad climbing with the use of a standard rack. A rack is the set of gear the climber uses to perform the climb. The rack is made up of such gear as ropes, harnesses and pro (protection). The rack is used in different ways depending on the climb. In trad climbing it is almost entirely used to for protection against falling. With aid climbing the gear is used to perform the climb. For example, vertical climbing up a rock face with no holds requires the equipment to scale it.

Alpine and ice climbing is much different from other forms of climbing. You must be an experienced climber to enjoy this type of activity since it requires great skill and endurance. Not only will you generally be away from civilization for several weeks but you will be enduring extreme temperatures. For most enthusiasts, ice climbing is the ultimate experience.

Climbing consists of many different types of activities. While experience is needed for much of it, you can get started by joining a climbing gym and taking classes. <bio>Focusing on latest news in Villajoyosa, Ray Walberg is publishing almost entirely for http://www.alicante-spain.com .
A good home improvement tip to give you is one you probably may not think of. Frequently, people are losing their investments due to fires. There are things you can do to protect your investment from burning to the ground, as this can be very disheartening.

Hot and dry weather can cause a dramatic change in fire dangers. Weeds and vegetation when lacking water, can turn into fuel for fires. One lightening bolt or carelessly tossed cigarette, or ember from a fire is all it takes to set a fire and destroy your whole neighborhood. Some houses are spared when they catch on fire, while others are totally burn to the ground. Did you ever wonder why is that so? It is because some homeowners may have taken additional steps to prevent total loss from fire disaster. This is a some good home improvement tip you should take note of.

What You Can Do To Prevent or Save Your Home from a Fire Disaster

A good home improvement tip that is good for you is to remove anything natural that could lead to a fire breakout. Look around your home for any sources of fuel and try to get rid of them before disaster strikes. Trees and plants that tend to have a lot of dry leaves are very prone to starting dangerous fires. Keep your trees well pruned all the time and avoid planting them in clusters.

Also try to remove any flammable vegetation that is within thirty feet of your house. If you want to be safe and smart, thin out the dry stuff to within one hundred feet of your structures.

You can also prune the branches of the trees if they are lower than six feet height. This will help to reduce a lot of chance of fire, and is a great home improvement tip to remember.

Another useful home improvement tip to note is not to stack wood next to your house. The wood should be at least thirty feet from the structure of the building. Try to avoid placing lumber piles and other construction materials near your place, and keep an eye on any butane or propane tanks. Keep these at least ten feet away from your home or dry material.

Another home improvement tip for you is to prepare your house for a fire. When you get materials for your roof or siding, try to get items that are fire-resistant. Purchase items like asphalt-fiberglass or masonry roofing and if you live in a fire prone area, this is a very important home improvement tip that you shoudl try to follow.

Make sure you have prepared your family for strategies to follow in the event of a fire disaster. If you follow these helpful home improvement tips, you will stand less of a chance of losing totally your future investment when a fire disaster strikes. <bio>Tangopang is a Home Improvement Consultant.
