There may appear complications, which follow appendectomy, from which the most frequently encountered is the conversion of the incision into an actual wound that can vary in intensity or complexity from one case to another. The easiest forms require only antibiotics, while the serious ones may drive to another surgery. Sometimes, the infection is so serious ,that it needs antibiotic treatment in order to back off, and only after that, surgery can be performed, to avoid over-infection in case of a new incision.

Almost as common as the previous one is the abscess, generated by the localization of infection in a specific place, close to the appendix. Pus must be extracted from the abscess by surgery or non-surgical methods.

Researchers couldn't determine whether there is a purpose for the appendix inside of the human body, so that long-term consequences for health generated by appendectomy don't usually appear, except for particular cases, such as Chron's disease.

General information regarding appendectomy:

- The appendix represents a structure attached to the large intestine having the form of a worm.

- In case of viral or bacterial infection of the appendix, appendicitis appears.

- Appendicitis may complicate and evolve into peritonitis or abscess.

- Appendicitis is frequently indicated by pain, fever, and increased sensitivity of the abdomen

- Diagnosis can be given in most of the cases by taking into consideration medical record and physical exams but also by means of leukocytes count, X-ray abdominal scan, barium enema, ultrasounds, CT and laparoscopy.

- Infection of the wound and abscess are the most common complications of surgery

- To cure appendicitis the use of antibiotics and appendix removal surgery are necessary.

- Appendicitis is difficult to diagnose because it shares common symptoms with other diseases that affect the abdomen or pelvis.

In the case of appendicitis, the visit to the family doctor is the best thing to do if symptoms have been seen. Because of the number of conditions that generate abdominal pain, he's the person that can give the most appropriate diagnosis. Quicker treatment will eliminate the risk of later complications. <bio>For more information visit http://www.whatcausesappendicitis.com </bio>

A toothache is noted as a pain in the teeth, jaws gum and related areas of the face and mouth. The typical cause of a toothache is a dental cavity with the second most common cause being gum disease. Another contributor to a toothache is pulpitis, the inflammation of the pulp of the tooth. With a toothache, short, sharp pains can occur in response to hot, cold or sweet stimuli. If pulpitis has turned into a dental abscess, the pain happens when pressure or air is applied to the tooth. The pain of an abscess is throbbing, continuous and agonizing.

What are the symptoms of a tooth ache

Here, w will discuss the most common symptoms of a toothache, but the way symptoms present themselves could vary with each individual. These signs include a constant, throbbing pain in the tooth, swollen and bleeding gums and discomfort when pressure is applied or the tooth is exposed to air. It can also be sensitive to hot or cold foods or the jaw in the area of the tooth can be tender and sore. In some cases, fever and a general feeling of malaise can occur. Chewing may aggravate all of the above pain. To identify a cause, dental x-rays and exams may need to be performed by a qualified dentist.

What causes tooth ache

In most cases, a toothache is caused by cavities, decay, jaw problems, gum disease, disease of the jaw joint (temporo- mandibular joint), or spasms of the muscles used for chewing. More serious reasons for toothache include an exposed tooth root, fracture, crack, ulceration of the gums, and a tooth abscess. A tooth abscess may present with fever, and can be extremely deadly if not take care of. Seek medical attention promptly if a tooth abscess is suspected. Most tooth related problems, including cavities, decay and even abscess can be prevented with proper oral hygiene. Brushing, flossing, and rinsing with antiseptic mouthwash are a good way to aid with prevention of most dental diseases that cause toothache.

Will Painwave X4000 help with Toothache?

Yes! This revolutionary, new alternative to pain management is ideal for a sufferer of chronic a toothache. The Painwave X4000 is a non-invasive, drug-free method of relief that, unlike countless other methods of pain relief, does not 'block' pain signals to the brain. Instead it works in concert with the body's own bioelectromagnetic ecosystem. The amazing Painwave X4000 has no side effects and is extremely easy to operate. All one has to do is simply move the device gently over the surface of the skin in a small circular motion. Within a relatively short period of time, the Painwave X4000 will stimulate improved circulation, cell activity and lymphatic movements. This development will be very beneficial in the relief of pain and other discomforts. In many cases, this stimulation will greatly reduce or eliminate pain.

Note: The information on this page should not be used to obtain a self-diagnosis.
The horseshoe is a wonderful invention. It protects your horse's feet by putting a half inch of steel between his delicate hoof and the hard ground.

The problem with horseshoes is they only encircle the perimeter of the hoof, leaving the inner portion of exposed. So if your horse steps on a sharp object, he could easily damage his foot. If left untreated, your horse could go lame. And unrideable. To avoid this problem, here are some things you should do...

You need to check your horse's hooves after every ride. And one of the things you want to check for is a bruised sole.

Bruised soles are a common cause of lameness in horses. 9 times out of 10, a sharp stone is the culprit. Remember, your horse probably weighs around 1/2 a ton, so when he puts his full body weight on a sharp object he can't see, the result isn't pretty.

So if you've just finished your trail ride and find your horse has a bruised hoof, what do you do?

First, you need to assess how serious the bruise is. If your horse can support his own weight and yours too without flinching, it's probably nothing to worry about. But if your horse is noticeably gimpy, even without you on his back, you need to do a little triage and figure out how bad the injury really is.

If the bruise is in your horse's heel, it may just be a corn (yes, horses get corns too). If this is the case, your farrier will try to cut the corn out. Depending on how painful the area is for your horse, the farrier might make a special horseshoe called a heart bar horseshoe.

This special shoe is made to support the coffin bone by placing a metal tongue under the frog. And If your horse is naturally thin-soled, he may even install a leather pad under the shoe. Heart bar horseshoes work very well. I've seen this kind of shoe relieve a horse's corn pain very effectively.

But if your horse doesn't have any corns, yet he's still displays signs of being in pain, the problem may be a bit more serious. Your farrier will probably want to remove the steel shoe and give your horse a more thorough examination.

Expect the farrier to touch your horse's hooves to see if they feel abnormally hot. If they are, it usually means your horse has an abscess - an infection of the hoof. If this is the case, either he or an equine veterinarian may treat the hoof abscess by paring it out and then poulticing it.

Now, having said that, I've worked with some farriers who sometimes choose to let the abscess grow out to a point where he can just cut it off or filed off. I always take the farrier's advice when it comes to abscesses - they've seen more hooves than I'll ever see!

I'll cover paring and poulticing soon. But for now, what I want you to take away from this tip is hoof injuries are not to be taken lightly.

You'll be able to tell if your horse was "off" during your ride. If so, spend a little extra time examining his hooves as you pick and clean them. If they're bruised or feel hot, it's time to call in your farrier for some professional advice.

That's all for now.

Yours for Better Horse Health

Sierra Lynch <bio>Sierra Lynch makes it easy to keep your horse healthy and happy.
The West Highland White Terrier that is bred well and taken care of is usually very healthy but there are things you should know to keep your Westie as healthy as possible.

One of the most important things that can be done to keep puppies healthy is to choose a good vet and make sure you schedule check-ups when needed. The first time the pups are taken to the vet they will be checked and assessed. Watch the vet to she how she handles the puppies. The vet should be gentle and take the time needed to do a proper examination.

There are vets that are not interested in smaller animals so do not be afraid to find a vet that likes little dogs. If you are not comfortable with the way the vet handles your dog/s on the first visit do not hesitate to find another.

Westies sometimes are prone to develop cysts between their toes. If you notice that a puppy is limping or having difficultly walking you may want to check for a cyst. When you notice the foot is swollen between the toes and the puppies foot is very hot you will need to soak his paw in water that is as hot as he can stand. Add a spoonful of salt to the water before soaking and after several treatments the abscess should break.

Your Westie may have times when his anal glands need to be emptied. The vet will need to do this and it is important because an abscess can occur if this is not treated. When you notice and unpleasant smell and your dog is dragging his bottom on the ground or chewing his tail it is time to call the vet.

Some Westies have problem with allergies. Your vet will be able to help you with solutions that could include allergy testing and medication. A change in diet or grooming may also help.

Always be cognizant of the possibility of parasites. Dogs sometimes are affected by worms and the best treatment for roundworms is a regular dose of medication that is formulated for this type of worm. Tapeworms are rare but can be treated with pills.

When caring for your Westie you should find a great vet, schedule regular appointments, pay attention to any change in the health of your dog and take preventative measures. <bio>Jeff Cuckson is owner of http://crazyaboutwesties.com a membership site devoted to Westies. These hemorrhoids are mostly swollen blood vessels which are found in or outside your posterior. These are caused mainly due to permanently widened or twisted veins known as varicose veins. These veins can be found anywhere in the body, but it is the leg where it is mostly found.

There are two types of hemorrhoids one which is found inside the anus known as internal hemorrhoid and the other found around the anus known as external hemorrhoid. These are common with all age groups including teens. Pregnant women are the ones who get affected by this, in particular.

The size of pile can be as small as a pea or as big as a grape. It is usually pink in color and sometimes you also come across blue color. One can suffer from internal and external pile at the same time, giving you a very hard time in your life.

Some of the common and known reason for having piles is due to extending the time period to use the toilet. This puts strain on your bowels which in long run turns out to be a very sad affair for you. Being pregnant also leads to piles due to increasing pressure of the fetus in the abdomen and hormonal changes.

Constipation and chronic diarrhea are also causes of piles. Having a family history of piles can be one of the other reasons. Sitting on cold and hard surfaces for a prolonged period of time and even standing can result in piles formation. Overweight and people doing heavy lifting also can suffer from this disease.

Some of the common symptoms for piles are

-Bleeding from the anus -A constant pain and itchiness in your posterior -Discomfort while passing stools -Blood in your stools

There can be severe complication if proper care is not taken once you have been detected for piles. There are chances of infection which may lead to an abscess, formed around the rectum and anus. This kind of abscess causes lot of pain and swelling.

There are some common home based remedies which can be used for treatment of piles

-Ice packs on the rear end, but do not use the ice directly on the skin

-Warm baths

-Proper diet for a smooth and easy way out for the stool

-Thoroughly wash 3 to 4 figs and soak it overnight and have it first thing in the morning empty stomach. Again soak 3 to 4 figs in the morning to have it in the evening, continue this for 1 month

-A mixture of 1 tsp fresh mint juice, 1 tsp lemon juice and 1 tbsp of honey. Drink this mixture three times a day for a painless relief.

-Mash and boil 1 ripe banana in 1 cup of milk and drink this at least 2-3 times a day

-Consumption of buttermilk after your meal is very useful

-Radish juice every morning and evening is also very good <bio>Sharon Hopkins has many sites which gives guidance and provides knowledge about home remedies and natural cure like http://www.home-remedies-for-you.com..
Toxic shock syndrome (TSS) is characterized by sudden onset of fever, chills, vomiting, diarrhea, muscle aches and rash. It can rapidly progress to severe and intractable hypotension and multisystem dysfunction. Desquamation, particularly on the palms and soles can occur 1-2 weeks after onset of the illness.

Prevention The bacteria that cause toxic shock syndrome can be carried on unwashed hands and prompt an infection anywhere on the body. So hand washing is extremely important.

Females can reduce their risk of TSS by either avoiding tampons or alternating them with sanitary napkins. If a girl uses only tampons, it's important to choose tampons with the lowest absorbency that will handle her menstrual flow and to change the tampons frequently. Between menstrual periods, it's a good idea to store tampons away from heat and moisture (where bacteria can grow) - for example, in a bedroom rather than in a bathroom closet.

Because staphylococcus bacteria are often carried on dirty hands, it's important to wash your hands thoroughly before and after inserting a tampon. If your daughter is just starting her menstrual period, she should know about taking these precautions. Any female who has recovered from TSS should check with her doctor before using tampons again.

The best defense against STSS is to clean and bandage all skin wounds as quickly as possible. Call your doctor immediately whenever a wound becomes red, swollen, or tender, or if a fever begins. Although STSS almost never follows strep throat, it's wise to check with your doctor whenever your child has a sore throat with fever, particularly if your child's condition is worsening despite medical treatment.

Diagnosis and Treatment Call your doctor immediately if you experience the signs or symptoms of toxic shock syndrome, especially if you're menstruating or have just finished menstruating and have been using tampons. Tell your doctor what your symptoms are, how long you've had them and when your period started.

You may need to provide blood and urine samples to test for the presence of a staph infection. Samples from your vagina, cervix and throat may be taken for laboratory analysis by using cotton swabs.

Doctors typically diagnose TSS and STSS by doing a physical exam and conducting blood tests that assess a child's liver and kidney function. In toxic shock syndrome, doctors may want to rule out conditions like measles or Rocky Mountain spotted fever, which can produce similar symptoms. A doctor may also take samples of fluid from an abscess, boil, or infected wound to look for a possible source of staphylococcus or streptococcus infection.

Doctors typically treat TSS with antibiotics. If there is a pocket of infection, like an abscess, a doctor also may need to drain the infected area. A child who has TSS is monitored for signs of shock until the condition has stabilized and seems to be improving. Steroids are also sometimes used to treat severe cases of TSS.

As with TSS, doctors typically treat STSS with antibiotics and give intravenous fluids and medications to maintain normal blood pressure. Surgery is sometimes necessary to remove areas of dead skin and muscle around an infected wound. <bio>Can Toxic Shock Syndrome Be Prevented?
Root Canal, or endodontics, is the process of removing the nerves from the roots of a tooth. A root canal is often necessary to save an infected tooth. If an infected tooth is left alone for a long period of time, an abscess can form. An abscess will show up on an x-ray as a dark spot below the apex of the root. This is actually bone loss in the jaw. It is very important to catch this problem before it deteriorates too far.

The first step of the procedure is to anesthetize the effected area. The next step is to open an access point through the top, or biting surface of the tooth. The doctor will then determine a working length of each canal. Each canal is then cleaned and shaped in preparation for the filling material. Once each canal is prepared, it is filled with an inert material called gutta percha. The canals are then sealed. The tooth is now ready for a restoration, which is usually a crown. This entire procedure is often completed in two visits.

Why do I need a root canal? There are a number of reasons why one of your teeth may need a root canal. These include but are not limited to, a very deep cavity that extends into the nerve, a trauma to the tooth that exposes the nerve, or a crack in the tooth that extends into the nerve of the tooth.

Signs and symptoms. Moderate to severe lingering toothache pain when drinking hot or cold liquids or foods. Moderate to severe pain when biting on a tooth. Sensitivity to tapping or pressure on the tooth. Toothache that wakes you up in the middle of the night. A pimple on your gum that may release pus or blood. Radiating pain from one area of the mouth to another.

Care instruction for root canal therapy need to be followed to insure a success root canal. It is best to refrain from eating for at least 2 hours and until the anesthesia has worn off to prevent possibly injury to your soft tissue. This will also allow the temporary restorative material to harden.

You will most likely feel soreness in the area as well as pressure when you bite down. For this reason, you should avoid hard and chewy foods. Do not eat on the treated side of your mouth for at least 24 hours. The soreness should decrease within a week.

Take any antibiotic medication prescribed to you by the doctor as this will eliminate any remaining infection in the tooth.

If you notice any of the following symptoms please contact your cosmetic dentist. Increasing tenderness or swelling in the area surrounding the tooth. A reaction to the medication. Loss of the temporary filling material. Tooth fracture.

Invisalign is a great option to straighten your teeth without having to suffer the inconveniences that come from wearing braces. Invisalign uses a series of clear inserts that are custom made for you. With no metal wires or bands to irritate your mouth, the Invisalign aligners are almost invisible and work to slowly move your teeth into a straighter smile. By changing aligners every two weeks and with regular progress checks, patients often see results as soon as 6 months to 1 year. You can remove the aligners to eat, brush and floss and treatment won't disrupt your lifestyle. In fact, most people won't even notice you're in treatment. <bio>Dave Stringham is the President of LookingYourBest - an online resource for plastic surgery. Plastic surgeons.
A precise diagnosis for appendicitis has a high degree of difficulty, due to the resemblance of appendicitis's symptoms to those indicating other inflammations. Thus, a frequent method is to keep under observation the patients with appendicitis suspicion for a temporal interval, to see their evolution. The problem may disappear, or develop to classic appendicitis or other disease.

It is the duty of the surgeon to eliminate the suspicion for any other condition similarly to appendicitis or that has similar symptoms. Such conditions are:

* - Meckel's diverticulitis represents little excrescences of the small intestine which are usually found in the lower right abdomen right next to the appendix. Same as the appendix, the diverticulum can rupture or inflame and it is necessary to take it out by surgical intervention.

* - Pelvic inflammatory disease. Found closely to the appendix, the ovary and the right fallopian tube may be affected by sexually transmitted affections of infectious nature, but in most of the cases medication using antibiotics can successfully replace surgery.

* - Right upper abdomen conditions of inflammatory nature. Diseases like duodenal ulcer, gallbladder disease or affections of the liver may generate fluids drain from upper to lower right abdomen and cause a very similar inflammation to that of the appendix.

* - Right =96 side diverticulitis. By exception from the common situation of the left sided diverticulitis of the colon, there can also appear on the right side and, when rupturing, have a strong similarity to appendicitis.

* - Affections of the right kidney such as abscess which, due to the close position of the kidney to the appendix may simulate appendicitis.

Because many conditions of the abdomen share the same symptoms, the causes are in more than one case difficult to determine, but the good thing is that only few abdominal affections are so serious to require more than medication at home. So, the nature of pain is more likely to be determined by severity, location or other aspects. <bio>For more information visit http://www.whatcausesappendicitis.com </bio>

An ingrown toenail is a condition that if you have ever had one, you will never forget it!

An ingrown toenail is a very painful condition of the toe and affects men, women, boys and girls.

The agony of an ingrown toenail is something that can wake you during the night, disrupt you during an important business meeting, and seemingly drive you out of your mind.

An ingrown toenail is a rather common condition suffered by many.

An ingrown toenail occurs when the side or corner of one of your toenails grows in to the soft and delicate flesh of that toe.

It happens because as the sharp corner of the toenail begins to grow it begins to dig into the skin at the corner of or at the side off the toe.

Redness, pain, and inflammation at the very spot where the nail curls into the skin, is the very first symptom of an ingrown toenail that you will see.

If the ingrown toenail is bad enough you may also have an infection in the area. An ingrown toenail typically affects the great toe, also known as the big toe, most often.

If you leave an ingrown toenail untreated, it can progress to a horrific infection or even an abscess that requires surgical intervention.

Quite often you can take care of your ingrown toenails all by yourself. However, if the pain from the toenail is severe or spreading, then you should see your physician for her help to relieve the pain of the ingrown toenail.

It is important to remember that if you have diabetes or any other health condition that causes poor circulation to your feet or one that puts you at a higher risk for any type of infection, then you should not try to treat an ingrown toenail on your own.

You must see your health care provider for assistance.

An ingrown toenail is an inconvenience and irritation that must be dealt with.

Whether you address the issue on your own or you get the assistance of your health care provider, it really doesn't matter. The bottom line is, you should not allow an ingrown toenail to simply persist.

Get the treatment that you need. <bio>For more important information on foot pain be sure to visit http://sore-foot-remedies.com where you will find advice and tips on common foot pain causes such as ingrown toenail, plantar fasciitis, and other articles that you can view at http://www.sore-foot-remedies.com </bio>

So why do we get bad breath and how the heck can we get rid of it? These are two very common and very important questions that we have all had to ask ourselves at some time or another. The reason it is such an important thing to figure out is that it is so much a part of who we are. It affects our confidence with people and our reputation around people. Talking is such a part of our daily life and if we have bad breath we are either not talking for fear that someone will find out how nasty we are or we are embarrassing or offending those we are talking to. Bad breath is also not only offensive to others, it carries with it a taste that is offensive to the owner as well.

Now it is one thing to have bad breath once in a while or in the morning before we brush our teeth. This kind of problem is easily remedied with simple hygiene. But can you imagine (and some of you can) having bad breath chronically and so bad that simply brushing your teeth or avoiding spicy food at lunch is not enough. Well some people have to live with this nightmare called chronic halitosis.

So if you are one of these people you need to first know that there are very good remedies to most people's cases of bad breath that are worse than normal. First you should go see your dentist which is pretty obvious. You see bad body odors in general are secondary to the growth of microorganisms (bacteria, yeast, etc.) that are producing noxious fumes as a byproduct of their metabolisms. It is always important to go and see that you don't have a major infection that is causing the rotten (literally!) smell in your mouth.

Often however there isn't a huge cavity or pharyngeal abscess to explain the terrible smells and because the etiology is less obvious the solution is less obvious as well. Killing the bacteria is still the name of the game though and it just because people with chronic bad breath were unlucky enough to have gotten a particularly smelly strain of bacteria.

How do you do this? Well in several ways. One is to brush your teeth more often like every time you have food. Another is to get in the habit of brushing your tongue. Another is to buy a good mouth wash that kills the bacteria. Then lastly and maybe not so obvious is eating yogurt. You see yogurt contains a bacteria that lives well in the body and is very benign in terms of bad effects. If you do these things you may just find that your bad breath takes a hike. <bio>Trenton Martkes is a personal hygiene coach with over 10 years of experience getting even the most terrible cases of bad breath under control. Check out http://www.badbreathgroup.info to learn some of these little known remedies. </bio>

It is the third most common form of cancer and the second leading cause of death among cancers in the Western world.

Many colorectal cancers are thought to arise from adenomatous polyps in the colon. These mushroom-like growths are usually benign, but some may develop into cancer over time. The majority of the time, the diagnosis of localized colon cancer is through colonoscopy.

Therapy is usually through surgery, which in many cases is followed by chemotherapy.Colorectal cancer can take many years to develop and early detection of colorectal cancer greatly improves the chances of a cure.

Therefore, screening for the disease is recommended in individuals who are at increased risk. There are several different tests available for this purpose.Surgical treatment is by far the most likely to result in a cure of colon cancer if the tumor is localized.

Very early cancer that develops within a polyp can often be cured by removing the polyp at the time of colonoscopy. More advanced cancers typically require surgical removal of the section of colon containing the tumor leaving sufficient margins to reduce likelihood of re-growth.

If possible, the remaining parts of colon are anastomosed together to create a functioning colon. In cases when anastomosis is not possible, a stoma (artificial orifice) is created. While surgery is not usually offered if significant metastasis is present, surgical removal of isolated liver metastases is common. Improved chemotherapy has increased the number of patients who are offered surgical removal of isolated liver metastases.

Laparoscopic assist resection of the colon for tumour can reduce the size of painful incision and minimize the risk of infection.

As with any surgical procedure, colorectal surgery can in rare cases result in complications. These may include infection, abscess, fistula or bowel obstruction. <bio>Colorectal or colon cancer is the third most common cancer and the second most common cause of cancer related deaths. http://coloncancersymptoms.info </bio>

A sty is a pimple or abscess that forms in either the upper or lower eyelid. The medical term for sty is hordeolum(say HOR-dee-oh-lumm) and it is an infection caused by bacteria that normally live peacefully on the eyelid skin surface.

Some of thee germs get trapped along with dead skin cells inside crypts along the eyelid margin. Stys are usually superficial and plainly visible. Occasionally they can reside deeper within the eyelid.

This common infection or inflammation results from blocked glands within the eyelid. When the gland is blocked, the oil produced by the gland occasionally backs up and extrudes through the wall of the gland, forming a lump, which can be red, painful, and nodular. Frequently, bacteria can infect the blocked gland, causing increased inflammation, pain, and redness of the eye and even redness of the surrounding eyelid and cheek tissue.

The lump can point externally (outward) or internally (inward). Frequently, the lump appears with a visible whitish or yellowish spot that looks much like a large pimple.

An external sty starts as a pimple next to an eyelash. It turns into a red, painful swelling that usually lasts several days before it bursts and then heals. Most external stys are short-lived and self-limiting.

An internal sty(on the underside of the lid) also causes a red, painful swelling, but its location prevents the familiar whitehead from appearing on the eyelid. The internal sty may disappear completely once the infection is past, or it may leave a small fluid-filled cyst or nodule that can persist and may have to be opened and drained.

Stys are usually caused by staphylococcal bacteria, which often live right on the skin surface. Truth be told, our bodies are coated with billions of friendly bacteria that coexist with us. When the conditions are just right the bacteria feast on dead cells and other debris, resulting in the tender pimple.

Good hand and facial washing may prevent styes from forming or coming back. <bio>For complete information on Eye Sty, visit http://EyeSty.smartreviewguide.com </bio>

Cystic acne can be called as a form of abscess which is shaped when oil ducts get clogged and infected. Generally, cystic acne is commonly seen in the teenage years and mainly affects on the face. Cystic acne which affects in the deeper skin tissue can result in more superficial inflammation when compared with ordinary acne. Cystic acne breakouts are painful and can result in deep scarring. Most dermatologists consider cystic acne as the most severe of its kind.

Cystic acne takes much time to heal as the infection is affected deep under one's skin. In most cases the treatment for cystic acne is limited to oral medication and hence it is recommended that all cases need to be taken to a dermatologist. But there are several preventive measures and remedies which can be taken against cystic acne. For those looking for holistic remedies for cystic acne can consult an alternative medicine practitioner, while other more common procedures can easily be performed in the convenience of one's home with no medical supervision.

Isotretinion is one of the most commonly prescribed drugs for cystic acne treatment. The drug taken in pill form helps to treat inflammation, clogged skin pores, and excess oil production.

For females suffering from cystic acne oral contraceptives are used as a cystic acne remedy. This is considered as a safe cystic acne remedy and helps to suppress overactive sebaceous glands (oil producing). Besides an oral contraceptive, physicians also recommend a synthetic steroid to slow down other hormones which boosts the sebaceous glands.

Whatever cystic acne treatment your physician may prescribe, acne patients are required to be take special care of their health, and of course their skin. Acne patients are advised to cleanse their face daily at least two times a day. Keep in mind that bursting of cystic acne can result in producing scars. Hence keep your hands and fingers away from your face. Consulting a dermatologist is recommended as he/she can help you to choose the best cystic acne remedy which allows you to get rid of cystic acne. <bio>Our experts have executed a research to find the best acne treatments.
Horses are susceptible to a variety of diseases and the wide majority of them we are not too concerned with because we vaccinate our horses. It is important to remember that just because some diseases are vaccinated against, your horse may still be able to contract them but the vaccination will lessen the effect of the disease. Vaccinations are important because you never know what may be floating through the air from a sick horse passing by in the stable or even riding down the road in a trailer.

Influenza and Rhinopneumonitis

These are respiratory diseases that are very similar to the human flu. These diseases have very similar symptoms to the flu. Your vet may recommend that your horse be vaccinated every 3 months or at least every 6 months for these diseases, depending on how often you travel with your horse and often the horse is exposed to other horses.

Tetanus

Tetanus is a bacterial disease that a horse contracts through open wounds. A horse should receive regular tetanus boosters, as the disease is easily contracted through puncture wounds and lacerations. The bacterial disease wreaks havoc on the horse's nervous system and may cause brain damage. The prognosis is generally poor for a horse that contracts tetanus, so horse owners want to do their best to prevent it. The symptoms include extreme sensitivity to touch and spasms in the neck and jaw muscles. It is recommended that horses receive these vaccinations at least once per year.

Strangles

Strangles is a very contagious disease that spreads from horse to horse very easily. Many horses will have the virus, but show no symptoms, which makes it even harder to detect until other horses begin to show symptoms. Horses will generally have a pus discharge from the nose and abscesses form in the lymph glands. The abscess will often burst with thick yellow pus. The horse may develop a fever and go off feed. Most animals will recover, but the care for these horses can be very difficult, especially if they develop the abscesses. Horses should be on a regular vaccination program for strangles, especially breeding and performance horses. Strangles live in the ground and there are various strands that may develop. High-risk horses include broodmares, stallions and performance horses. They should be vaccinated every six months. You should also vaccinate if you are moving to a new stable and ask if they have their own version of the vaccine for their particular strand of virus. <bio>Now you can enjoy your horse decor from http://www.gifts-for-the-horse-lover.com/horse-decor.html, knowing your horse is protected. </bio>

You probably already know that Crohn's disease is different for everyone, and not everyone has a severe case. However, all sufferers have to watch out for Crohn s symptoms when they think they are in remission so that they know when they need to seek active treatment again.

Remission is possible for almost every patient, but because there is no known cure for crohn's it is unlikely to last forever. If you aren't adept at spotting your symptoms early, you should talk to your doctor about what to look for, and when you should come in to see them for more evaluation and possible treatment.

The main symptom of Crohn's is the inflammation, but because this happens internally, it is not really something you will notice right away. You will know something is going on when associated symptoms appear. These early symptoms often start with bloating and discomfort in the abdominal area. You will also probably start to have loose stools, and cramping will occur most noticeably in the stomach and intestines. Vomiting can happen as a result of the nausea caused by the cramping, but that is not quite as common.

You may already know how to handle these symptoms, and even though they are not comfortable, you can probably live with them for the most part. You may not even have to see your doctor at that point, but you should ask your doctor at what point they want you to come in to see them.

When Crohn s symptoms get worse, however, you do have to go in as soon as you can. You may notice that there is blood in your stool and that the pain is much worse. This can mean a few different things. Commonly, it's the result of small fissures (or tears) somewhere in the digestive tract, or that there is an abscess. There are times when fistulas might form, and those can carry infection to the rest of your body. Surgical intervention may be required to repair the damage caused by fistulas.

When you begin to notice bloating and pain in the intestines, you may also be experiencing fatigue and be feeling very weak. This might also accompany weight loss. When unexplained weight loss occurs it signals your body is struggling to take the nutrients it needs from your food and that there is a problem that needs to be corrected very quickly. In extreme cases, you might need IV fluids, and antibiotics. Your doctor will need to see you to make sure you are still healthy, and possibly to adjust your medications. They may also want to be sure there are no blockages effecting the intestines that needs to be corrected.

It might take you a little while, but you will soon learn to know which Crohn s symptoms you need to worry about, and which ones you can care for on your own at home. It is important that you know when you have to go in to see your doctor for additional treatment. There may be times when a simple tweak of your medications is all that you need. You'll no doubt get good at noticing when your symptoms are out of control and when you are okay, but you should always ask if in doubt. <bio>Grab your free copy of Sharon Dobson's brand new Crohn's Disease Newsletter here at http://natural-crohns-disease-relief.com?source=is which is overflowing with tips to help you understand your crohn s symptoms and the best crohn's disease and treatment options available. </bio>

Most people know that the normal pimple has a life cycle of six to eight weeks without serious treatment. But what they don't know is that when pimples develop into acne, it would require more time to heal, it is painful due to heavy peeling and would eventually leave ugly and uneven acne scars.

If your pimples are taking too long to heal and are spreading all over your face and neck, then you should be visiting your dermatologist so he or she can give you effective acne skin care treatment products as early as now.

SELECTING ACNE TREATMENTS AND PRODUCTS

Acne is one of the most common skin problems that people--young and old--have to deal with today. Being a skin disorder usually caused by irritated blackheads and whiteheads, the development of acne becomes more and more difficult to cure if the infection is neglected and left untreated. This neglect can even cause further irritation and may eventually lead to the production of abscess.

Since prevention is the best treatment to any impending injury or disaster, finding a good line of acne skin care products now can be an effective way to control your growing acne.

Acne skin care treatment products that have antibiotics have been long known as effective solution in treating moderate to severe and persistent acne. Oral treatments include products that contain tetracycline, erythromycin, minocycline and doxycycline are known to be effective.

Most people consider topical acne medication or treatments through creams and surgery as other options in treating acne. One of the most common acne skin care treatment product are acne creams. Before you purchase acne creams, consider these helpful tips:

1. Most dermatologists recommend acne cream as effective acne skin care treatment product because the skin quickly absorbs it.

2. Acne creams are good option because these are derived from natural substances and sources. Quality acne creams can even help you get rid of acne without too much acne scarring.

3. Checking the label. Make sure that the acne cream you plan to buy is hypoallergenic and can be used by children or pregnant women without enduring any pain or discomfort. Knowing the ingredients used in the product will ensure that the acne cream has balanced formulation to deliver effective results.

4. Do a little research on how the formulation and content of these creams help cure the skin infection.

5. Observe how your skin reacts to the acne skin care treatment product. After the initial application, take note of the visible changes so you can avoid possible side effects or allergies. <bio>This content is provided by Low Jeremy.
It's a worrying statistic that for people with crohn's three-fourths of sufferers wil have to undergo crohn's disease surgery at some point in their life. Most medical professionals will try to control Crohn's with medications and lifestyle changes before they suggest this, but there are times when it just has to be done for the sake of saving the life of the patient. When this condition strikes in the intestinal area, which it often does, there are complications that can arise that require Crohn's disease surgery, and even though it is not a cure, it can help make a patient feel much better.

Because Crohn's disease causes moderate to severe inflammation in the intestines, complications can occur. There are medications that can help with many of the symptoms, but there are times when the inflammation that is the root cause of Crohn's will reek havoc on the system as a whole, or just a small part of it. Most doctors will not rush a patient into Crohn's disease surgery unless they think it is absolutely necessary as some of the procedures are rather complicated, carry risk and can change a person's life forever.

For some crohn's sufferers there are times when the intestines become blocked. This means that foods cannot pass through the system, and the patient will become unable to absorb nutrition nor will they be able to have a bowel movement. Alternatively, abscess can occur or tears in the intestinal walls will begin to bleed. The blood will exit through the rectum, alerting the patient that something is wrong. Surgery will be necessary if the wall of the intestine is perforated, as that might mean waste is leaking into the body.

One type of surgical procedure commonly performed is strictureplasty. This is done when there is a blockage or problem in the small intestine. When the problem is minor, the surgeons look to fix the problem but if the situation has gone past the point of repair a small section of the intestine will be removed and the ends will be connected.

Occassionlly there are times when the problems in the colon are so bad that it must be removed completely. When this happens, the small intestine is rerouted though the front of the abdominal wall. This is called a proctocolectomy. The waste then leaves the body and empties into a small bag that is changed by the patient. Doctors will do everything they can to avoid the latter from happening.

If you are one of the lucky ones, you will never have to have Crohn's disease surgery, but many patients are faced with it. Though the thought of surgery is a scary one, you should take some times to think about it before you decide that you don't want to do it. Have a conversation - or many conversations - with your doctor to talk about what is bothering you and what might happen if you don't have the operation. Understanding the risks involved by not having the crohn's disease surgery can help you make a clear choice. <bio>Grab your free copy of Sharon Dobson's brand new Crohn's Disease Newsletter here http://natural-crohns-disease-relief.com?source=is which is overflowing with information and advice to help you understand when crohn's disease surgery is necessary. </bio>

A new pet at christmas may seem the perfect Christmas present but it can also become the most expensive. Many of us fail to understand the true cost of owning a pet and do not look at the potential time and expense if a pet suffers ill health.

It has been estimated that 40 per cent of the cost of owning a dog goes towards unexpected vet's visits. Even routine treatments can cost many hundreds of pounds with more complex procedures running in to the thousands. With almost half the UK's pets needing veterinary care each year, according to the Pet Health Council, Pet Insurance is a must

How much will a vet charge?

A pet is also definitely not just for Christmas. A cat typically can live for 14 to 15 years and a dog can live up to 13 years or more. Vet fees for treatment of common conditions include up to £500 for an abscess, £3,000 for injuries following a road accident, £1,000 for removal of a lump or tumour and £500 a year for arthritis, according to specialist insurer Petplan.

What should my pet insurance cover?

The best pet insurance plan should cover vets' fees, treatment for long-term conditions, death by illness benefits, death by accident benefits, rewards and expenses for stolen or lost pets along with dental treatment cover.

It is important to be aware that pet insurance is designed to cover the unexpected so vaccinations, preventative treatment, spaying, castration, pregnancy or illnesses diagnosed before you take out a pet insurance plan are normally not covered.

Questions to ask and consider before taking out a pet insurance policy. In order to make sure you take out the best possible pet insurance plan you should consider the following questions:

* Is there a limit on the total amount I can claim each year?

* Can I only claim once for each condition?

* What is the excess - how much will I have to pay from each claim?

* Can I get cover for my pet for the whole of its life?

* Does my cover include legal fees if my pet causes an accident or if my dog attacks someone?

* Will they help pay for advertising if my pet is lost?

* Does it cover of a replacement pet if it is stolen?

A healthy choice

It is very important to remember that almost one in two pets need veterinary care each year, therefore, it is more than likely your pet will need major treatment at some time in its life. Yet according to the Pet Health Council approximately only 15% of UK pets are covered by pet health insurance.

Vets also recommend health insurance for pets because it allows them to do the best for the animal without the owner having to worry whether the treatment costs can be afforded.

What Next?

So if you decide that pet insurance is the right way to go, we can help you compare pet insurance from the leading UK pet insurance companies and get a free quote.
Ticks can be a major nuisance to your pet and can cause a number of different diseases. In fact, ticks are one of the most problematic of parasites when it comes to transmitting disease. Therefore, in order to keep your pet safe and healthy, it is important to know how to properly remove them and prevent them from using your pet as a host.

Preventing Ticks

There are numerous things you can do to help prevent ticks from infesting your pet. One of the first steps you can take is to make certain the environment is not one in which ticks will flourish. For example, you should be particularly cautious when taking your pet for a walk through the woods, particularly in areas with low brush and tall grass. Certain parts of the country, such as the northeast, have a higher incidence of ticks. Therefore, when traveling in these areas, be certain to wear tick repellent and to have your pet properly protected as well.

There are many different types of products that you can use to help prevent ticks, some of which are available over the counter and some of which need to be prescribed by a veterinarian. These include:

• Sprays
• Dips
• Shampoos
• Powders
• Topical Medications

With the help of these products, you can prevent tick infestation while also making it easier to detach a tick if it does become attached to your pet.

Removing Ticks

If a tick does become attached to your pet, it is important to know how to properly remove the tick. This way, you can remove it completely and safely. In order to remove a tick from your pet, follow these procedures:

• Put on a pair of gloves or otherwise take steps to make certain your skin does not make contact with the tick
• Use a pair of tweezers or a special tick removal device to grab the tick in the area near to its head
• Pull the tick out with slow, gentle pressure
• If the head remains in the skin, grab it with the tweezers and remove it as well

It should be noted that skin often comes off when removing a tick, so don't be alarmed if this occurs. In some cases, you may not be able to remove the tick's head if it becomes detached. This generally is not a cause for concern, as your pet's immune system will expel the head by creating a small abscess or infection. If you are concerned about the area or if a remaining tick part does not seem to be getting expelled from the pet's body, you may want to contact your veterinarian.

It is important to note that there are several myths about alternate methods for removing ticks. Applying heat or nail polish to the area, for example, are popular myths for tick removal. Neither of these methods is effective for tick removal and should not be utilized. Rather, stick with removing the tick with tweezers in order to achieve the best results.<bio>CS Swarens is the CEO of Find a Pet Online. 800 998-7065 For additional information on dogs, cats, birds, horses, and exotic pets visit the internet's resource for pets for sale.
A devoted dog owner does everything humanly possible to ensure their dogs hygiene. However, one area that bewilders dog owners is how to brush my dogs teeth?

Why Brush A Dog's Teeth?

Dogs suffer from a variety of tooth problems, just like their owners:

1. Loose teeth
2. Abscess teeth
3. Cavities
4. Periodontal disease

The common symptom of periodontal disease is bad breath. In fact, 98% of all dogs with bad breath suffer from periodontal disease. If there is a delay in treatment, the bacterial infection can develop and spread to the dog's kidney, liver, heart and brain.

Thus, it becomes important to brush the dogs teeth.

Steps In Brushing A Dog's Teeth:

Many dog owners take their dogs to the vet for a regular teeth cleaning. Many vets offer medical plans for pets that include this important routine. Usually they will put the dog to sleep or medicate the dog to avoid bites. This is safer for the dog and the vet. However, if you cannot afford to do this and/or choose to do it yourself, below are the steps to take in cleaning your dog's teeth.

1. Allow a vet to check the dog's teeth before brushing. Otherwise, brushing may be painful, and it will associate brushing with pain.

2. The dog needs to be used to the owner checking its mouth regularly. Reward the dog for cooperation.

3. Get a pet dental kit from a pet store. It needs to have a pet toothbrush, pet toothpaste and a finger toothbrush that the owner can wear on a finger and brush the dog's teeth.

4. Human toothpaste is not edible and dogs are likely to swallow toothpaste. Therefore, try to buy beefy flavored toothpaste that the dog can enjoy. In addition, avoid toothpastes with detergents, salt or baking soda. Instead, try to buy toothpastes containing fluoride and enzymes, as they are good for dogs' teeth.

5. Ease in the brushing process. On day one, merely wipe the dog's teeth with gauze. Later, adapt the pet to warm water brushing. Finally, add toothpaste.

6. To brush the dog's teeth, place the brush bristles at a 45-degree angle to the teeth, at the border where the teeth meet the gums. Gently, move the brush in an oval motion, to complete ten back-and-forth motions. Then, move the brush to cover at least 3-4 teeth at a time.

7. Remember to brush the dogs teeth all the way to the back, which is where most problems develop.

Other Important Tips:

A dog's dental hygiene will not be flawless, if you only brush the dog's teeth. Try some of these tips to ensure a good dental health for the dog:

1. To avoid the onset of periodontal disease, take the dog to a vet for regular checks.

2. Vets can also clean the teeth occasionally to remove tartar deposits.

3. Feed hard foods to the dog or give bones or hard toys to chew on.

These are certain systematic ways of avoiding dental problems, but do not forget to brush your dog's teeth regularly.<bio>www.dogs-web.com, Healthcare for Dogs is all about Dogs Health Care, Supplies and Training.</bio>
