A Little Charm Won't Cut It

Life isn't easy. It is anything but easy to maneuver your way through the world and spend your life doing things that really matter and having relationships of any value. It is hard to make the kind of life you dream about a reality. Some people think that success in life comes simply by being good looking or by using a little charm. For most people, however, life doesn't work quite like that.

Creating the kind of life you hope for take hard work. There is absolutely no way around it. Unless you were born into an incredibly weathly family and will never have to work to make it through life, your life will require hour after hour of hard work. Even the most beautiful people or those with the best wit or charm have to get up in the morning and get to work. The most basic advice you can receive about making your ordinary life well worth living is to choose a career that you love. Spend time developing skills that will benefit you rather than wasting time developing charm or other ways to cut corners. Do the things it takes to make your dream job possible for you. Work hard in school no matter how far away college is and get a job each summer to start saving money for future schooling. The better prepared you can get now, the better off you will be later.

There is nothing better than getting up every morning for work and loving what you do. Motivation and drive to work hard will come easily and you will find that the hours of the day fly by because you are doing something you enjoy. No matter how great your profession is though, you will have to make goals in order to keep you going. People have a tendency once they are settled in a profession to slack off from working hard and instead try using charm to get ahead. It is extremely important that you stay focused and moving toward your goals. Many people find it helpful to review a list of goals and to add new goals every few months. Developing charm or a better sense of humor should probably not make it to the top of your list.

Success in life is almost always connected to relationships you develop. You've heard the saying 'it is not what you know but who know' is very true. Having real, connected relationships with people that are not based on flattery or charm will benefit you greatly as your life continues to progress. You never know when a friend from your past will be able to connect you to another friend or to the job of your dreams.

So whatever kind of life you dream about, rest assured that a little charm won't cut it in the real world. It's all about hard work, making and achieving goals, and networking with people. Save your charm for your mother-in-law because she is the only one who will buy it anyway.
